Arwyp Medical Centre Receptionist

I'm not one to do this but I think the receptionist I just got off a call with really crossed the line this time around...

I made an appointment to see the ENT in May at 12PM, i was so ill, I took a day off and drove to arwyp medical Center . I told the receptionist I had an appointment with the doctor at 12Pm. The receptionist tells me the doctor has left and she called all the patient's to come in earlier and not me !

She asks for my last name I tell her, then she claims that the doctor saw me 🤔. I tell that's not true . She then tells mistakes happen "askies" and walks away.

As she walks out I asked her for a business card or a number that I can call the doctor on for telephonic consultation, she still walks out and points where it is.

Fast forward. Doctor says I should come one Monday he will see me ... again she gives me an attitude telling I didn't book an appointment, I explain to her that the doctor said I should come at this time.

Doctor explains that I need to do a tonsillectomy. They will contact my medical aid for an approval.

Fast forward, 8 June I call the reception to find out if medical approved or not, she rudely tells me to wait she's still busy with other patients she will do mine later and hangs up 🙃.

Fine. 9th June I call my medical aid myself and they conform to have approved. On 10th I go to the hospital,

9 days post surgery I experience some painful
Contraction on my neck, my nose is drooling . throat is bleeding. I call the receptionist to ask if I can maybe consult the doctor, she shuts me out completely, first she complains that I'm not loud enough (which true because I'm still recovering)

She tells me to come at 2PM, the time is 11am, I'm in pain ... I ask for the doctor numbers she says she can't give me that number, I ask for the same number she once gave to me she eventually gives.

All in all, I've had a very good experience with the dr Makaulule, his helped my son with his sleep apnea, I could call whenever there were issues and he helped me.

With the receptionist I've been holding things back . She's rude. She will shout as if I'm a child. She has an attitude .. I don't think this is a way to treat patients especially when they've expressed that they are in pain !

I really which the ent had a another practise with a different receptionist, because truly speaking his a good doctor !

Arwyp Medical Centre Receptionist at the specialists department

To whom it may concern

I was attending a Dr's Appointment for a follow up with my ENT Dr. FB MDLETSHE on 30th March 2020 at Arwyp at about 15h30pm. She previously attended to me at Rivonia. The receptionist there who assist the DRs/ Specialists was very rude towards me.

She asked me to fill up a form with my details for the second time (but different hospitals) I then asked if the Dr needs it again. She responded: " I am just doing what I have been told".

Is it professional? Polite and respectful to answer a client like that?

I was really angry and reported her to to the Dr. Apparently most people complained about her attitude.

I have decided to raised it here. For the concerned partie to be addressed and disciplined accordingly.

As for Dr FB MDLETSHE, she is literally good. She is currently following me with my issue and no issues or problems so far.

Thanks,
Regards

Desired outcome: The Lady at the Specialists Reception to be made aware of her rude attitude, to be disciplined, and to call me to apologize.

Arwyp Medical Centre Bad service and unprofessionalism

I went to the hospital on the 10th of July 2020 around 12 pm and 20 weeks pregnant bleeding with abdominal pain and I stated the urgency of the matter they said my Dr is not there I waited for assistance more than 3 hours without help eventually someone came and took me to maternity they said they are taking me to my Dr to my surprise the Dr is not there they sent to me ward 10 the service got worse no one is saying anything and the pain are getting worse, the ward 10 nurses made a huge noise at the corridor about the food that I was not suppose to get that time its 18:00pm angry hungry I was made to feel like a bugger. I overhead the nurses talking on the passage that the Dr that was working that day dodged me and went home and they don't know how to help me and I could believe what I overhead. I was begging them for at least Panado or pain killers they say they completing my file that time it's 10:pm at night. No one came again to check until I saw my baby head coming out I called them again they came after 20 minutes I showed the nurse and asked what should I do she run and could even check or say anything she ran against the wall and a stayed with that image for another hour until they took me back to maternity I saw everything that the matron was doing and taking out and going out in between that and said Sorry the is an emergency as if I'm not an emergency. The Dr who's "dodged" came around 06:00 with all the excuses in the world worst service ever I will never set my foot on that hospital. The service is very apolling and duscusting.Dr Hasan that was suppose to assist me he said they called him and told him it's just pains and he's excuses were just useless and unprofessional.

Arwyp Medical Centre lack and failure to communicate with patient

I had an injury around October 2019 where I got stitches due to the deep wound I'd acquired. From there onwards got admitted into icu for other reasons that is. Apparently I was to had to had received an our patient dorm for the removal of stitches with in 7-10 after I had them done But i didn't. I was then admitted..and other matters where attended to . Few months later because I wasn't told when to come back, I remained with the stitches only for another gp to tell me it's septic and they had to be removed. I went back to arwyp to get assisted as I have never had a stitch before and had one at the time, now I have to pay for consolations etc all because they failed to let me know when I was supposed to get the stitches out etc and I'm now sitting with billing regarding this matter. I don't know why I'm liable for such as it was the hospitals negligence and failure to inform me as a patient of what is needed. I'm really not happy with this and I ask for it to be escalated. I will not be held liable for someone else's mistake. Dr khumalo the dr who happened to have assisted me with the stitches and there after was DR moholo

Arwyp Medical Centre I had a car accident and then got sent to a government hospital even when my medical aid still had funds

I was involved in a car accident, and went to Arwyp private hospital. They took my blood test and did a head scan and later was told that my nose was damaged and needed surgery.

I spent plus minus 9hours in casualty ward, had blood on my nose that was never attended too. I was told that i am waiting for a bed to be admitted .I waited in pain agony and had to ask for pain tablets as no one gave me that.

After the long wait i am now told that my medical aid doesn't cover me and sent to Tembisa government hospital .

The disturbing fact is that my medical aid covers R17 000 for casualty in a car accident and R350 000 for admission caused by an accident . My medical aid then informed me that the hospital did not call them or communicate to get authorization for admission.

The hospital also claimed to have called my medical aid and therefore received a reference number for that.

I later gave my medical aid the reference number that the hospital gave me and my medical aid informed me that the sequence of numbers I was given by the hospital was wrong and they do not even use such sequence numbers as reference.

I have not got any surgery done on my nose till today. I struggle to breath .

I wanted to take legal action against my medical aid because I blamed them for everything till I got information and all evidence point that the hospital negligence is to blame for my suffering and embarrassment.

Arwyp Medical Centre service

I was admitted at Arwyp, firstly I would like to say I know Arwyp to be the best private hospital compared to the ones I have been to, But i was admitted twice in July and I must say that things are not the way they used to be.Night stuff at casualty are not so welcoming at all, Not helpful and not friendly some are scary with tattoos all over their bodies, I was even scared to ask for water, for a moment there I felt like I was in Tembisa hospital.Doctor that was attending to me looked like she didn't know what she was doing, I was left with more questions than answers. Then I was admitted, night stuff again was not so good I asked twice for my drip to be checked both times she said she was coming back and never did.after I was discharged I started getting messages that I am liable for time I spent at Arwp after my discharge time had passed the person sends messages with wrong spelling to clients (So unprofessional)...obviously the person didn't check her facts because my time had not passed and besides I was still waiting for my injection...it was a very disappointing experience

Arwyp Medical Centre bad service

I brought my daughter (Peyton Kiara Bouwer) in on Saturday 26 January 2019, she had blood shot tonsils now there were 3 doctors on stand by its not Dr brown or the male Dr it was the other female Dr. She came and checked my daughter said it's tonsillitis and she will give her a antibiotic then they came and gave her 2 suppositories and a injection I then called her back to have a look on Peyton body cause she has got spots all over her body she comes into the room and says I shall give her a cream and walks out I then went to her and asked her to please just inform Peyton Dr just about her which is Dr H Roelofse she tells me for what so I said cause I always inform him so she says ja ok. I then go back to the room and we waited for her this Dr to give me the prescription for more than 1 hour and 30 minutes to discover that she knocked off at 4pm I was cross I just sore red how can u be busy with a patient and then not finish the job and go home eventually we got discharged she gave my child a strong antibiotic and capol and bicort Peyton got worse I went to see Dr H Roelofse today and the hospital did not phone him at all to inform him about Peyton cause I asked him and when he looked at her he said they did not do a proper job cause she has got Tonsillitis and hand foot mouth virus that is not cool at all.

I never ever had a problem with arwyp never but Saturday was the worst service I had it shows you that they don't really care about the patients I'm really disappointed in Saturday service.

Lee

Arwyp Medical Centre very bad service

My husband was admitted for spinal chord surgery. I thank God it went well compared to the service i received.
A customer service consultant at the 10yh Floor her name Sindiswa, i went there to check my husbands bag and toiletry as he left the ward to go to Theater and ICU. I politely asked her "My husband was in this ward this morning and left his bag at room 1010. Her answer to me. Please dont tell me about your husband i have a husband as well. I was so surprised. How the staff addresses tge patients is non of my business. Rather ask me what is his surname? But no she gave me attitude.
2. ICU ward i was told to wait a bit as he was being prepared after surgery. The lady at their reception said i must wait 15/20mins.
30mins later when i went to check she said i must wait they will call me. 1h30 i was all alone no one cared until i asked a passing by sister who checked for me and allowed me to see him for 5mins. The reception lady was nowhere to be seen. She left me there waiting and went home. Sitting there thinking maybe something was wrong with my husband but it was just a horrible service.

Arwyp Medical Centre Service level of the doctors

To whom it may concern:

I am writing to raise my concern regarding the Dr Wypkema unprofessional service. It never ceases to amaze me that the account requires urgent payment thereof, however when it comes to the patient they see, there seems no urgency or as a matter of fact no interest in the wellbeing of the patient.

Let me explain my complaint;

I brought my husband in after he was involved in a car accident, on 24 January 2016 at 11am, the reception staff was very helpful as well as the 1st nurse, however the problem I have is with the consulting doctor, she came in asked about the accident, listened to his heart, had the nerve to ask my husband to remove his own bandages that the on scene paramedics used, but did not really look at the wounds, his hand was swollen badly which she would have noticed should she have bothered to examined him properly, and without a word left the room, we had to insist to the sister that an x-ray might be needed as we thought it might have been broken, after the nurse did a mediocre job in cleaning and bandaging him – the nurse came back to take him to the x-ray when we got there the doctor wrote to x-ray his arm?! Obviously the doctor knew nothing about her patient and the nurse conveyed the message wrong so I had to run back to casualty where the doctor just scratch out the arm and put in hand without question…. How does that work?!

The people at the x-ray department told us his hand was not broken, we went back to casualties were the doctor never checked if the wound is properly cleaned or if he had other injuries, nor informed us if the hand was broken or not – just wrote a script for pain killers.

It was a horrible experience and it makes you wonder how safe you are in arwyp hospital. I was always a person to speak very highly of arwyp but if this is the doctors they employ then I am most certain that I will rather go somewhere else.

I at least hope that my complaint will be looked into.

Because we as the patients never seem to be listened to, or taken seriously untill something really awful happens, should we really wait for that or could this matter not be resolved.

Can you not employ doctors that is well educated with an empathy for their patients and the knowledge to treat them professionally and with the respect and dignity they deserve.

Regards,

Emilia Nel

I’m not one to do this but I think the receptionist I just got off a call with really crossed the line this time around...

I made an appointment to see the ENT in May at 12PM, i was so ill, I took a day off and drove to arwyp medical Center . I told the receptionist I had an appointment with the doctor at 12Pm. As she walks out I asked her for a business card or a number that I can call the doctor on for telephonic consultation, she still walks out and points where it is.

Fast forward. Doctor says I should come one Monday he will see me ... again she gives me an attitude telling I didn’t book an appointment, I explain to her that the doctor said I should come at this time.

Doctor explains that I need to do a tonsillectomy. They will contact my medical aid for an approval.

Fast forward, 8 June I call the reception to find out if medical approved or not, she rudely tells me to wait she’s still busy with other patients she will do mine later and hangs up 🙃.

Fine. 9th June I call my medical aid myself and they conform to have approved. On 10th I go to the hospital,

Arwyp Medical Centre - Bad service

I was assisted by Clive who lacked courtesy, he said you Short 41c I proposed 2 fetch it frm my car, he said the cashier will sort it out, he did not bother 2 explain how I should take my medication, I went to pay by the cashier (Tracey) who was rude enough 2 say "what are you saying", I tried to speak up but could not cause I just had an operation done to...
