Equifax Information Services taking money out of my checking account without my permission

I have no idea how these people got my account number to my checking account. I don't give this information out to anyone, I don't order things over the internet or the phone and put it on my debit card. They took $16, 95 out witch put me in the RED and was unable to get gas in my truck to go to work. I want to put a stop to this right now. I would really like to file criminal charges on them for theft. . . Rick Gregory

Equifax Information Services false record reporting

Had a small sc state lien reported 05/98, satisfied and released 11/98. Equifax reported it in 2000 as being "open". Called equifax repeatedly and sent information from county records office. Equifax refused to accept any changes. Went to small claims court, won case against equifax, with a small monetary settlement. Equifax was to rectify the information. Last week, 02/2012, a mortgage bank doing a re-fi, told me that there was a lien open from 14 years ago, information from equifax. Same lien.

Does anyone have a suggestion for legal counsel in south carolina? Would like to go above small claims court, this time.

Equifax Information Services credit report error

Equifax and their texas company cdc credit provided a negative report to a mortgage lender. They are the only credit reporting agency reporting a lien from the state texas that was filed in error and release by texas in 2006. Equifax cdc report the lien but not the release of the lien. I had to go the county clerk's office and get a certified copy of the release and send it to the lender to prove that it was filed in error. My equifax cdc credit report notes that I have disputed the lien but no action has been taken to remove it. I tried to do an online dispute starting with equifax but after filling in all the information required I got a message that my credit report was handled by their cdc credit company in dallas texas. I then filled out all the same info online with cdc and got a message that I could not file a dispute online and the only way to file my dispute was by mail. There is no phone number to call that I could find on their site. I am again going to file a written dispute and send my certified mail to both cdc and equifax and include the certified copy of the lien 2006 release.in relating this problem to friends and business associates, I have been told off number of similar complaints with equifax / cdc credit, many worse than mine because they caused denial of credit. Given all the complaints I have heard and read, I think equifax and cdc credit should have a class action lawsuit filed against them. Any good advice out there?

Equifax Information Services unethical, horrible business practices!

I have been an equifax customer for 8 years. They are the poster child for terrible business practices. Do not use them.

Over the years, it's been consistently obvious that equifax lacks serious professional business ethic. I have never seen a website, backed by such manpower, go through so many horrendous design iterations in my life. Each new design update also introduces a whole new slew of glitches that make the website very frustrating to use. I have more years of experience in web & graphic design than equifax has been in business. With over 7, 000 employees in 15 countries, this company has zero excuse for the low quality of service they provide and completely absent focus on best business practices in terms of usability. Does this website even meet accessibility compliance?

Furthermore, equifax touts security as a mandate for calling to cancel your service. This is common practice and clearly a pathetic attempt to retain customers and avoid losing subscriptions. However, the ignorant use of security as a reason to call is what makes this so disgustingly unforgiving. For a credit reporting service, this should be considered fraud to imply that it is insecure to cancel your subscription through your account while freely allowing you to signup and order new products, without even looking at the phone.

The poor business practices employed by equifax is crystal clear and has been going on for years. I seriously hope customers stop turning a blind eye to this problem so they are forced to make some major improvements. Please. Do yourself a favor and run from this company. They need a hard lesson learned after so many years of crappy deliverables and consumers deserve the quality of service they are paying for.

This company has been stealing from people for a long time now. Why isn't something being done to shut it down? What does it take to make grief for these folks so their fraudulent actions will be stopped by the law.

Guess Georgia loves this business because it must pay off someone! In my 'Free' report I get a number to call and pay $7.95 for an automated free credit score. I go through the whole process including paying by credit card and getting a confirnation number. Then it goes dead. Well, must be the phone! Right? Wrong. I call the customer service number and get someone with poor english He does not have any electronic record of the automated transaction I just made. He does not care about the confirmation number. He says if I did pay that I will get my score in 7-10 days by mail (Now I just did an automated thing that would only require this company to have it's robo-voice give me my score. But NO! So, since I really want my score I ask him what I have to do. He says I will have to pay $12.95? more to get it. Then he starts into what score to I want. My blah blah score or my more blah blah socre. I now realize I have been had. This is a major fraud gimick disquised as a credit service. This organziation should be shot down. I do not want such crooks handling my personal information and livelyhood through scores. THis is why we need our government indepndent of corporations so badly. To protect us from such wealthy corporate crooks.

Equifax Information Services charging for supposed free credit report

So I tried equifaxe's "free credit report" thing online. Well come to find out it is not free and they fraudulently enrolled me into the monthly service! Anyway for these people to get money.. Do not do it! I was on hold for 45 minutes the lady that came on said that she is going to be refunding my account the 16.95 within 72 hours so we will see if they are actually telling the truth about that!

Equifax Information Services credit bureaus give different scores to lenders

I just found out that the credit score the consumer gets online is different that the one the lender receives. A lender told me that he doesn't look at the credit score that consumers get online, because it is different than the ones the lenders get. So, if you apply for, say, a home loan, the credit score you see online will be about 50 to 100 points lower on the score the lender gets. This is ridiculous! This will also show up on your credit report as a inquiry and negatively affect your credit! Why aren't the credit bureaus required to inform consumers of this. And, why would anyone use a credit monitoring program, when it won't be correct anyway? The way I see it-what you see as a credit score should be what a lender sees.

I called Transunion's TrueCredit and asked the woman there. She said the lenders use their own formula for different accounts(IE:mortgage, credit card, etc). I told her that if a consumer receives a declined offer and it lists...for example:equifax beacon score and gives a score--there are no formulas involved! It would be straight form the credit bureau. Then she started selling--"that's why you need credit monitoring!" I stopped her--"Why would you use credit monitoring after what I have told you?"

I thanked her and hung up.

I think that this should be illegal! Maybe, unfair disclosure?

I don't think they get a different "score" than consumers but a different report. For example, a creditor lowered my credit limit because of a negative report. I called the credit card agency and informed them that I am a co-signor on a relatives credit and they said they don't have that detailed information. All they show is a deliquency.

The creditor went on to tell you they look at different factors and not all are the same. Those factors woudl be established by their management to use as criteria for determining creditworthyness. The report would be the same for all of the creditors. It's how they interpret the results which determines the weight of those factors.

I personally feel all three credit reporting agencies are useless, crooked and working with or for the government. I mean we are supposed to get a free annual credit report, but it is not that easy to find if you dont know what you are looking for, yet there are companies that are constantly on t.v. advertising your free credit report then come to find out it is not free.

If you are lucky enough to get your free report from the agencies, then you are still at their whim. Example when I had a credit card issue I had to get my credit report after receiving it i noticed that my birthdate was wrong, my employers were wrong, and former addresses were wrong. So I MUST have been given someone elses credit report or must have been a victim of identity theft, i will go as far as to say maybe even a computer error.

This should have been a simple fix I thought, just a simple proof of identity or even birth certificate with date of birth. Not one of the three agencies was this simple with one i was told to send everything but the kitchen sink and not copies but originals unless they were notarized. One wanted me to send money to correct this issue(why would i have to send money to fix their goof ups) and the other Equifax told me and I quote "this happens all the time" just fill out the identity papers being sent to me and they would fix it.

So if credit reporting agencies admit this happens all the time(mistakes) then how can any lender really use them completely for decisions. Also why isnt the information reported on one the same as the other two. So even if no issues on one or two credit agencies if your lender uses a different one you are S.O.L.

I got lucky and mine was fixed with the help of an attorney fairly simple and there was no identity theft just a computer error and not verified. Since the reports sent do not have S.S #'s, I did not know they were wrong it is just that I received someone elses in my towns credit reports that have the same name as me. And since these were sent through the mail I was not able to verify until receiving them.

Equifax Information Services changes credit score model without notice!

In the middle of my mortgage application, equifax stopped using the FICO scoring system for my credit score with them and switched to their own score system that dropped my credit score 50 points. When I contacted them (after 30 min of elevator music while on hold), they said that they had been using their own scoring system for over a year. I asked why then all my reports only had FICO scores for the past year there response was that they were not selling the reports with it to consumers. So then I asked for a history of my non-FICO score and they said they couldn't give it to me. Regardless, unless banks aare aware of this (and the one I asked wasn't)a lot of people who would have qualified under the FICO score won't under the equifax score. Why is there not any regulation on this in Canada? It's odd to find that it is regulated in the states, but not in Canada.

Equifax Information Services I don't exist!

It seems that there is an error in my personal information on their file. But I have no idea what error! They wouldn't provide me with my credit report because they are not able to match my SSN and address proof documents with their information (like my docs are wrong but their info cannot be). And they keep requesting the same documents. Real ###ic system.

Equifax Information Services wrong information on credit report

Equifax has mis-information on my credit report that I've disputed 3 times since 2005 and even sent them correct papers to verify my dispute.
As of 12-2010 they still claim that their information is correct and they verified it directly with the source.
This is fraud. If they did indeed contact the source, they would know the information is incorrect.
Secondly, I must go through a lot of embarrassing conversations explaining the error, which is nobodys business but mine.
And lastly, for the second time I am being denied credit without first proving the error is indeed incorrect.
I plan on filing a lawsuit at this time. I'm not going to have this information stay on my credit report for another 5 or 10 years because some agency that has taken the responsibility to hold peoples lives in their hands cannot do their job correctly.

"Equifax contacted each source directly and our investigation is now complete". This is their quote, their claim, not mine.
They passed nothing along. If indeed they passed it along and it sat in someone's inbox, then Equifax is still negligent in continuing to report this wrong information. To continue reporting false information is fraud...Period!
I have verified with the court house that indeed, nobody has contacted them AT ALL! Not this time and not the first time.
It's not like this is a large major city that has hundreds of people flooding them to the point where they couldn't remember having to check a file.
I verified in person and got certified copies of the documents from the court house. There is absolutely nothing remotely close to a tax lien. The only thing that matches is the case file number of a court payment for costs at 1/10th of what Equifax states. This very personal and sensitive information has no business what-so-ever on my credit report. It is not on any other report because it doesn't exist. It is derogatory, misleading and embarrassing having to explain the nature of the court fine and explaining I am not some tax dead-beat.
It is frustrating to go through this process every time I apply for a loan and angers me to think that a company with such high responsibility can destroy a persons life with total disreguard.
They have an obligation to report correctly and do whatever they must to ensure their information is correct if they are going to hold one of our greatest assets, our credit history, in their hands.
What other impacts on my life has this error affected? Maybe my insurance could be lower, maybe I've been refused a job, maybe god only knows.
The point is, when I first disputed this information back in 2005, I sent Equifax the information and they did change the statis from open file to closed, but continued to report it as a closed tax lien at an exorbatent penelty of $20, 000. So they did indeed recieve the documents I sent them. Tax liens can stay on a report fo 10 years or until the statue of limitations run out. Do think I am going to leave this on my report for another 5 years, at the minimum?
Why they couldn't read the part about court cost instead of making up something is beyond me. How they got $20, 000. from $2000., well, someone obviously does not understand the U.S. monetary system and doesn't recognize a comma.
Even when I got the supposed corrected credit report and I contacted then via telephone, they claimed they had an agent go to the court house to verify the information. Again, they lied and lying is fraud. And to iterate the first sentence of this reply, "Equifax contacted each source directly..."
This isn't wheather they are reporting where they can be wrong, this is someone's acquired life information that must, without a doubt, be correct.
I feel pretty certain that Equifax is now libel for damages. I am certain I can get a certified statement from the court house, which will hold quite a bit of weight in a court of law, stating that nobody has requested information from them to verify an error. This will prove Equifax's negligence. The fact they continue to report this is derogatory. And behind the scenes, what damages have been done to my life unaware to me? I will not allow someone to defame me, not now, not ever.
I've fought in court to protect my rights before and will do it again. I slammed judges in the newspapers before for being on the take and paid the price and now I am fighting again to preserve my rights.
I'm just not one to sit back and whine. I hope others that read this will talk to attorneys or legislatures to fight for what is right.

Equifax Information Services additional charges

I authorized equifax to run a one time credit check on a tenant. The $12.95 fee continued to show on my visa statement for a year and a half! They repeatedly refused to reverse any charges, provided fraudulent charges every month. I called and spoke with w a supervisor and they told me there was nothing that can be done, that I had authorized the charges. Lies! They had my visa card number, but my ex husbands name. They refused to reverse any of the charges because his name is on the account yet they are using my visa number. If you are considering using this company.. Run as fast as you can.

I have recently had a very similar experience to that related here.

In 2011 I took out a Gold Service Trial with Equifax with one month to cancel should I not want their services. I canceled before the month's end and an Equifax staff member did the cancellation with me.

Now, some one year later, I've just noticed that Equifax have started taking money out of my bank account. Interestingly, the took the first amount out three months ago. Then they took the same amount out just a month ago -- so, that's with one month in-between when they didn't take anything out.

I had let this run just to see how wicked Equifax could be. You see, I had not re-contracted for any of their services. And yet, there are two acts of theft by Equifax on my bank account.

I am now looking into the best way to handle this. I feel that Equifax owe me compensation for this criminal action which they've done. They have taken my money without my say so. They have denied me the use of my own money.

I am prepared to take this matter up in the courts, if necessary -- theft is theft. Of course, Equifax can say "But, we were mistaken. The computer that did the transaction must have switched itself on ..." So, that would be negligence as well as theft, as well as damages.

Equifax Information Services refuses to correct false information

Equifax is currently reporting a bankruptcy on my credit report that is not mine! I obtained a copy of the bankruptcy they are reporting - from the court - to prove it is not mine, and they will not accept it. They said they received the information from the courts. The bankruptcy court said that was not true. The use off shore low wage employees with standard script to repeat to consumers who call. I am about to be denied a mortgage because of this false entry. And they refuse to do anything about it!

But I get rejected on credit applications, and have to run to creditors to get the correct info, and clear this info on file. MY CREDIT IS EXCELLENT: I have no problems w/TRANS UNION-EXPERIAN. Equifax Information Services failure to deliver services

Equifax' Credit Watch service failed to send me 10 e-mail alerts for over the course of more than a year. The alerts, for larger-than-usual increases on credit card balances, were listed on their website, but Equifax suddenly failed to notify me by email as they had for years before.

After calling-in to correct the problem, I called again to request a credit for failing to provide the service I was paying for. The rep, Gissele, who mumbled through a barely intelligible accent, refused to credit my account, so I told her to cancel the service. She put me on hold, came back and said she could credit me for the annual service fee not used since the statement dates, "October 12, September 12, November 12, December 12, January 12." After pointing out that September comes before October, I asked to talk to her supervisor. She said her supervisor was busy and would have to call me back. I never received the call-back.

I check all my credit card accounts regularly online to download transactions, so what alerts Equifax provided was always old news. They provide an annual credit report as part of the account, but everyone can get that annually for free from them and the other two credit reporting services.

In summary: an essentially useless service that they charge money for but nonetheless fail to provide, combined with a rock-bottom level of customer service.

Equifax? Save your money and stay away.

Equifax Information Services poor customer service

Stay away from equifax. Really poor customer service. You will not get what you pay for. It took over two times just to set up the account. We never got the email alerts and the customer service rep kept blaming us. When we went to cancel the service they kept telling us what we were doing wrong and would not cancel it. I ended up getting into a shouting match with the representative who kept telling me my service was working. I finally canceled the service and signed up with Identity Guard. Don't go with equifax if you want your money's worth!

Equifax Information Services charged me $12.95 for a free credit report

I answered questions for a free credit report. I did not even print out the credit report. Was given the address of http://www.creditreport.com/contact_us.asp. to contact within 10 days if I did not wish to be charged or to cancel monthly fee for credit monitoring of my account. Now I have been charged $12.95 for an advertised free credit report and the charge on my account appears as MN1*creditrepdr $12.95. I wish this charge removed and I do not wish to see anymore charges from this credit card report company. Cancel me from any and all records you have on me including my credit card info...Thank You Cecilia K. Laxton..

Equifax Information Services fraud alert

Equifax is without a doubt the most inept consumer reporting company ever allowed to stay in business. It took me 3 months to get a copy of my "free" credit report, only to find out they didn''t have my birthdate correct.(I'm over 50, don't you think they have had enough time to get it right?) When I went to file my online dispute and after I had entered all the information, and carefully checked it twice, I was informed that the online service was temporarily not working. I had spent nearly an hour filling everything out. The internet then informed me that there was a number on my report that I could call to dispute by phone. I can only find automated numbers. It is impossible to speak to a human being at any hour of the day! TransUnion and Experian were fabulous to deal with and made the appropriate changes immediately. Why is Equifax allowed to operate in such a deliberately inefficient way?

They are the worse! I never write negative reviews but I could not skip this opportunity to let people know how incompetent Equifax is. My elderly parents started getting calls and denial letters about credit card applications they knew nothing about. My mother just got out of the hospital and is not doing well. In fact, her nurse was here taking blood from her while I was on the call with Equifax. They refused to speak with me and I understand the security measures so I put my mother on the phone and tried to use the speaker, but it was too difficult to make out what the person was saying because she spoke with such broken English that my elderly mother could not understand her. We took the phone off speaker so she could hear better but she still had difficulty understanding her. When the person asked my mother what her mortgage payment was, she told the person that she did not have a mortgage payment, but they kept asking for the monthly mortgage amount. I asked if they could ask me the questions so I could repeat it to my mother and have my mother answer the questions but they said they could not do that. So needless to say, my parents will more than likely have their credit ruined because of incompetent people who can't speak English!

I filed a complaint with equifax about something that was incorrect on my credit report. I sent them numerous documents on correcting the problem. One of which was a certified document from the courts here in Greene County to which it was paid. The response I received was it was not enough for it to be removed. They claimed that they contacted the courts and stated it was not taken care of. I went down to the court house and once again was given paper work to prove it was taken care of. I called Equifax from the court house, even had the court system fax them the paper work, Again Equifax, refused to take it off of my credit report, because they stated that their investigator could not prove that it was paid. I am at my wits end with this Credit Reporting Agency. CSC Credit Services, is not even associated with Equifax, and still they are reporting in Equifax behalf. The lady (Jennifer) stated that they are allowed to do whatever they feel they want to do. I have to just deal with it. THen she laughed at me, when I told here I was trying to fix my credit to buy a house. I asked her for Equifax number and was told that it would not do me any good. How can these credit agencies have such power to be able to ruin peoples lives and businesses use them as if they was written in stone.

Equifax Information Services refused to cancel purchace made by mistake

While trying to get a copy of my credit report, I initially had difficulty logging in after providing them my credit card information and called Equifax support to resolve the problem. In retrospect the person was more of a sales person than tech support. He advised me to purchase the Score Watch service. While making the purchase I inadvertently ended up purchasing Equifax Identity Report.

When I realized my mistake, the Equifax person immediately transferred me to their resolution department where I was told that the purchase could not be canceled since it was for a onetime service. I didn't want the service, have not used the service, and feel cheated and deceived.

I have made a lot of online purchases and have not run into a situation like this were it was so easy to make a purchase I didn't want and not be able to cancel it.

The same thing happened to me! I know my credit is excellent, but was interested in getting a 'Credit Score' since I am refinancing my home and was told my Credit Score could suffer if I had recently opened new credit cards (which I had to get 10% off at Home Depot, Penny's, etc...). Anyway, I KNOW I have no credit card debt. But I was required to enter my credit card informartion into the Equifax website into in order to advance to the Credit Score icon. Once I realized there was a charge for the Credit Score, I exited the program. Next thing I know I'm getting a bill for $14.95 for a Credit Report which I did not ask for and certainly never received -- PLUS the Equifax website boasts a 'free' credit report so clearly I should not have been charged.

I have submitted a dispute with the Better Business Bureau and have contacted Equifax 3 times. What a ripe off! Diane Patton. August, 2009

Equifax Information Services unauthorized charges

I signed up for Equifax's Credit Watch Service with the understanding that I had 30 days of free trial service before being charged a monthly fee of $14.95. I did provide a credit card number at the time, which I expected would be charged a month later if I did not cancel the service (which was my intent). Instead, I was charged the day I signed up for the service. I realized this only after returning from a week's vacation and reconciling my bills, etc. When I called to have the charge reversed, I was told that this was impossible because the charge was applied more than 24 hours prior to my call. When the supervisor of the Customer Service rep I talked to forwarded my claim to the Billing Department, she warned me that Billing would make it very difficult for me to receive a refund. Sure enough, I received an email from "Customer Care" within a few hours denying my request, citing the fact that I should have immediately recognized the "$14.95" charge on my e-confirmation as a charge and called them right away. My misinterpretation of an email has become grounds for unlawful and unauthorized charges on my account. I will NEVER use their services again and plan on telling everyone I know to stay far away from this extremely customer-unfriendly company.

Equifax Information Services terrible company

I signed up for equifax credit watch. I specifically asked for one month only. I was not told that I needed to call to cancel. As soon as I found out that I was charged a second month, I called to cancel and was told that I was going to get a reund. Months passed. I did not see any refund. So, I called again. And was told that they cannot issue a refund because there were no 'notes' and the calcellation was after 24 hours had passed. As a result, I paid an extra month I did not even use.

Be aware consumer, equifax is making money from you without telling you the proper information. They will set you up on monthly billing without telling you that you need to calcel. And the 24-hour time limit is ridiculous. How would you know that it is within 24 hours when they do not even let you know that you have been charged a second time!

Equifax Information Services misrepresentation

Equifax if they are unable to find sufficient information on your credit history WILL destroy your reputation. They will state unable to verify identity and decline even if you have NEVER claimed credit in your life. On top of this if you contact them regarding accessing your report so you can check the details they will try to sell you a monthly scheme of some sort. DO NOT TRUST THESE ###.

I tried to get free annual credit report, answer 1 security question incorrectly by mistake, this ### Equifax freeze my accout and didn't give option to lift the freeze beside a long list of paper works...

This ### created many obstacles to discourage me and made me forget about the free report and guide me to all pay stuffs (useless) they offered.

This agency trys to ripp you off this way or the others.
We should report this bad business conduct to the government.
