Getaroom unethical behavior and extremely poor service.

On 2/8/19 I booked-supposedly-a room at circus circus in las vegas with getaroom and agent named "jack" under #r1375649160 total of $390.56 already charged to my credit card. Also requested the manor and a room with 2 queen beds.
My email confirmation shows reno circuscircus and in the sky tower. At no time whatsoever did I request nor seek any information nor reservations in reno.
Upon receiving my email, I have attempted to discuss same with getaroom. To this time I have been hung up on twice (apparently their agents do listen just talk-as seen in my original reservation and in trying to correct the same a day later). Getaroom phone message is a two minute wait, at this time I have wasted well over 1 hour waiting for some individual at their "supposed communications center" to talk to me.
The reservation is as of 2 1/2 hours after I started trying to correct-still wrong.
Regardless of how this is corrected, I will never do any business with getaroom ever again, and if circuscircus continues to use getaroom for their reservations, I will ceased stay at that location.
I want this reservation corrected or fully refunded. I will not paid a $25 cancellation fee to the inept getaroom site.

Getaroom fees/charges

The "fees" charges by Getaroom are outrageous. Over $50 fee to book a room. It is impossible to get assistance and information from their "help" desk. No logical explanation was given and no potential for refund...they just kept talking in circles. I will definitely give them as many poor reviews and BBB complaints until I feel vindicated for that bogus $50.

Getaroom card fraudulently charged by getaroom

I just got charged by getaroom for usd 295 even though I have never never used this site. Didnt even know it existed until today. This is just messed up and i'm hoping I get a full refund for this. I live in united arab emirates and I got charged from the united states. Dont even understand this. Not sure how to get this resolved but hopefully this complaintsboard helps.

Getaroom they have not refunded our money $ 2800.

Fraudulent Business

Getaroom Hotel has not sent the e-mail of the confirmation us on the same they 6/24 as they have told us on the phone but charged us the full amount on our card for the reservation to "Great Wolf Lodge" in Williamsburg VA.

The reservation was made on the phone and canceled on the phone on the same say but they have never canceled the reservation. When charges have shown on the credit card I have called them right away to cancel the reservation but Getaroom did not connect me to the right person to cancel the reservation on date 7/16.
Please ask them why Getaroom did not send us the e-mail of confirmation on the same day as they are claiming but making a case that does not have any cancellation number which intentional on thier part they have hindered by not coming on the phone.
• Please ask Getaroom why they did connect me to a supervisor.
• Why CCI* Hotel is charging for hotel booking $800 extra than the hotel itself?
We have trust in you to resolve it in the benefits of seniors like us and further investigate "‘Get a room" for their fraudulent scheme of cheating people.
By the way, CCI* Hotels and "get a Room Hotels are the same business. They come on the internet by the name of the GetaRoom but the charge comes on the name of CCI*Hotels, and they have made a booking by name of Priceline. Although "Great Wolf Lodge" has not charged any money to them for the reservation but still Gataroom pocketing our money shamelessly.

Getaroom taxes more than double room charge.

My husband booked a room with Getaroom. He thought it was thru the hotel directly. He was told it was $77.00 per night. He booked 1 night. We decided to come in early and when we got to hotel we were told $69.00 for that night. The hotel bill at end of stay was a total of $79.42. Got a bill from Getaroom for $122.12. They charged $$77.00 and $45.12 in taxes! I called and was told they could not break out those charges for me. RIP off!

Getaroom warning: excessive booking fees

This company charges exorbitant service fees. Do not use this company they are rip-off artists! They can charge whatever fees they choose to charge and cover their [censored] in the small print.

What are Tax Recovery Charges & Service Fees?
This charge includes the estimated amount we pay the hotel for occupancy related taxes owed by the hotel and any amounts charged to us for resort fees, cleaning fees, and other fees. The balance of the charge is a fee we, the hotel supplier and/or the website you booked on, retain as part of the compensation for our and/or their services which varies based on factors such as location, the amount, and how you booked.

Getaroom fraudulent activity and non-responsiveness

We were fraudulently charged for a two room four person reservation ($1320.00). When we discovered this charge on the credit card we immediately called their customer service and were told repeatedly that there was no refund available... even though we never asked for nor agreed to any service from this company. We canceled the card and now are forced to dispute this fraudulent charge. We discovered that this company also uses many different names online...

They are simply on-line criminals.

Getaroom failure to provide correct booking information

I am requesting a refund of $330.52 from Getaroom.com for two rooms I booked at Ramada Plaza Shanghai Pudong Airport. The following information explains my reasons for canceling my reservation and requesting a refund.

Sunday, August 19, 2018. I made a reservation online with Ramada Plaza Shanghai Pudong Airport through a link from the Pudong International Airport. I thought I was dealing directly with the hotel but later learned that it was through the third party, Getaroom.com. Because we were arriving at 4:00 AM on Friday, November 9, I called the Customer Service number listed on the website [protected]) before making the reservation. I explained to the representative that we were arriving early in the morning on November 9 and I did not know whether to reserve the rooms for November 8 or November 9. He told me to reserve it for November 9 and then to call again when I received my confirmation number to request an early check-in. As soon as I received the confirmation, I called the same Customer Service number and spoke with Julie who told me that she tried to reach the manager of the hotel to request the early check-in but that she would not know anything until after 9:30 AM on August 20. She said that I could call back and the representative could help me change the reservation as needed and that I had to be on the line with the representative to make the changes. She also gave me a hotel reservation ticket inquiry number. When I clicked on that link, I was directed to the Ramada Plaza website and could not contact anyone through that site.

August 20, 2018. I called the same Customer Service number I had been using at 10:50 AM and spoke to a different representative. She told me that as a "courtesy" she could try to call the hotel. She tried to call but was unable to reach anyone in the English Department and told me that I would need to call the hotel directly. I asked for an email address and she refused to give me that information. I asked to talk with her supervisor. I was told that she was on an "escalation" call and would have to call me later. I never received a return call.

August 21, 2018. After searching through my confirmation from Getaroom and the link to the hotel website, I found an email address for reservations at the hotel. I sent an email to that address requesting an early check-in. I received a response saying that my reservation was not found and to provide booking information. I sent an email and attached a copy of my confirmation email including the confirmation number. I then received an email saying that I needed to change the check-in time through the website by myself because the hotel could not change the reservation directly.

August 22, 2018. I received an email from the hotel saying they had no copy of the hotel confirmation for the reservation I had booked through the website. I sent another email indicating that a business acquaintance in China had contacted the hotel and was told that we had to make the change in our reservation to November 8 through the booking website and then we could ask for a late check-in.

August 23, 2018. I received an email from the hotel telling me that I had to contact the website for a confirmation letter for late check-in. After sending another copy of my original confirmation, I received an email from the hotel again stating that they had no copy of the hotel confirmation letter for the reservation booked through the website.

August 24, 2018. I went to the Getaroom website and canceled the reservation (Cancellation Number: C1217414658) and contacted American Express to review the charges. The booking website says, "All reservations booked on Getaroom are considered a prepaid purchase and your credit card is charged in full at the time the booking is made." If this is the case, why did the hotel not have my reservation after four days?

October, 2018. I provided numerous documents (confirmations, emails from Ramada, etc.) of the above interactions to American Express. After two attempts to resolve this with Getaroom, American Express informed me that I should try to resolve this with the merchant. The response from Getaroom denied that I was given the wrong information initially and referred to their cancellation policy. Throughout my dealings with both Getaroom and the hotel, my objective was to change the reservation. When my efforts to do this failed, I decided to cancel the reservation.

Summary. I have made numerous online reservations for hotels, cars, and flights and I have never experienced this level of poor customer service. Basically, Getaroom gave me the wrong information initially and failed to provide the assistance I needed to correct that mistake. Getaroom said I had to make any changes through the hotel and the hotel said I had to make any changes through the booking website. After going around in the same circles several times over the course of four days, I decided to cancel the reservation and appeal the charge.

Getaroom - On hold no refund
I was going to book a room with La Quinta Inn & Suites in Kingman and JoinPiggy popped up on the screen. I am connected with Piggy to get discounts for other purchases and thought they had provided good service before and I would have no problems. I did not realize it was getaroom.com. So I book my reservations.

I was going to Kingman as the Trustee of my Father's Trust, my Father past away recently and I had to go and pick up all the personal property items on my now step-mothers land. I knew it was going to be a very emotional journey. The weather was bad in Kingman on the Thursday before the Monday of the incoming date of my reservation. Friday I was told by all parties involved that everything was still as planned. On Sunday I was contacted by the mover that there was still going to be frost and ice on the dirt roads to the property and that it would be unsafe to move on Tuesday.

I called Getaroom.com as fast as I could at 11:45am on Sunday which would have made it okay as per the cancelation policy to cancel by 12:00 noon a day prior to the reservation date. When I got through to the getaroom phone number to cancel it was 11:45am. I was placed on hold and a message stated I had a two minute hold. It was not two minutes it was around 30 minutes. I had looked at my clock and it was around 12:13 pm by the time someone answered. I told them I was on hold for a lot longer than two minutes and that I had called at 11:45 am but I was put on hold for a lot longer than two minutes. I told her since I was on hold for around 30 minutes it put me over the 12:00 noon time frame. The representative apologized but said she was in charge of cancelling and was going to charge me for one day. I thought to myself why apologize? She wasn't even going to be fair enough to give me my total amount back. She told me the refund amount and it was $120 dollars less than the total amount I paid. I told her it was unfair. I said what if I was on a two hour hold what would happen then? She did not answer me. She said she could contact the department and they would check to see if the Hotel would allow them to not charge me for the one day. I was placed on hold again. She returned and told me the Hotel would not give me the whole refund and she would still charge me for the one day.

I contacted the Hotel on the same Sunday and told them the whole story. JoAnn at the front desk stated they did not receive such a call and that that they did not receive any funds ( I booked on Feb. 14th I spoke with the Hotel on Feb 24th) she said they had nothing to do with it. If I booked through a third party vendor I would have to deal with them. I asked if I could talk to her manager, she said Jay was out at the time and that I could email him the story and see what would happen. I did and Veronica the assistant manager called me on Monday and said the Hotel had nothing to do with it and that I should have booked with their hotel directly. I rescheduled with them for the next week when the weather was better and they gave me a better price than Getaroom.com. Getaroom lowest price was $104 the Hotel gave me a price of $93.60 a day.

I did keep on trying to escalate including speaking to Serena D. in Customer Relations at [protected]. But no luck there either? I couldn't believe all they could do was apologize and say that was their policy. I really do believe that is what all employees are told to do no matter what the circumstances are. I also told Serena what if I was on hold for two hours what would happen then. She did not answer and apologized and said that was their cancellation policy. I told her I would continue to escalate.

David Litman is the CEO and there is no phone number for him anywhere that I could find. There was also no escalation process I could find except for this site. Hopefully it may be resolved in this forum. The time to try and resolve this was worth way more than $120, but I did it for the point of trying to correct the process. Be forewarned call at least ? in advance to 12:00 noon. You never know how long you will be on hold. Obviously they do not track the time you call in.

Getaroom cancellation policy

I called the Super 8 Hotel in Canonsburg PA 1- 800 number listed on the web page on 10/30/2018 thinking I was speaking to the front desk. I booked 3 rooms for workers we had coming into town to work a job site for us. I was never informed of the cancellation policy on the phone at any time. I did receive a conformation email that I never opened until the next morning to cancel it on 10/31/2018 Due to weather change the guys would not be able to get the work done in the rain. When I cancelled the reservation that's when I was notified of the cancellation policy. I called the 1-800 immediately they said they would send the paper work to the hotel to get an ok for the refund. I call the hotel directly 3 or 4 times the manager was not in. I was then told he would be in on Monday after 8 am so I called the Manager was very nice he said he would find the paper work and return it to Getaroom. I was very happy at that point, then I received my bank statement and the charge was on it. I googled Getaroom to see what kind of reviews they have and all are bad! I am not sure how these company's get to fraud people for years.

Getaroom room reservation cancellation

I reserved a room on the Drury Inn and Suites, Fairview Heights, IL webpage this past week and found out today that I needed to cancel it. I tried to cancel it through the hotel where I was sure I had booked it and they informed me that the reservation was made through getaroom. I was upset to learn this and then even more upset that i could not cancel without paying for the room. I feel like getaroom stole the reservation and locked me into paying without letting me know that it was a third party service. That is fraud. The booking still says "free cancellation", but I am being charged.
I respectfully request a full refund as it is still more than 24 hours before the reservation.
I view this activity as fraudulent and will work with the credit card company for a refund it getaroom is not willing to issue a full refund.

Nov. 19, 2018 - After seeing the complaints about this service, I am more convinced that the site is fraudulent. It did not disclose that it was a third party booking site when I made the reservation or I would not have used it. In the future, I will call the hotel directly for any and all bookings. This has been an expensive mistake and I will continue to seek resolution which is nothing less than a full refund.
The reservation receipt still states "free cancellation". That is a lie.

Resolving a complaint by not doing anything is not a resolution.

Getaroom I have a charge on my credit card that needs explaining. the name listed is cci*hotel reservation [protected] tx

I have a charge on my credit card from CCI*HOTEL RESERVATION in the amount of $747.81. The charge is dated 10/16/18.
What hotel is this? What is this charge for? I never booked a hotel through you. How did you get my credit card number?
I request a full refund of $747.81. Make it $800.00 for the inconvenience you caused me and the time I had to take to deal with this.

I have a charge on my SW Airlines credit card of $747.81 that is incorrect. I did not book a room through you and I have no idea what hotel you are charging me for.
I want a full refund in the amount of $800.00 to bring my balance back to what it would be without your erroneous charge and a inconvenience fee for the time it takes for me to deal with this.

ALWAYS book through the mother company of the hotel chain. ie: Marriot, Hilton, IHG etc. Nothing else is a sure thing.

I put in my card information to get a hotel I entered it n it rerouted me to the hotel selection there was no confirmation number or nothing I hope they didn’t charge me n when I call no customer service it’s a robot u talk too it’s very shady I’m never booking online again

Getaroom fraudulent business practices

I was traveling and wanted to book a room at a hotel I had stayed at the previous night. When I looked them up online with my phone, it appeared I was going to the hotel's website to reserve a room. In fact, I had been routed to getaroom.com without my knowledge. I saw the rate of $109 which was the rate I had just paid the night before. I selected book reservation and put in my card info. I got a text message that said the room was booked and was non-refundable and could not be cancelled. It then showed a charge of $154 and said an emailed receipt would follow. I tried to respond to the text but it was not answered. I got to the hotel and tried to clear it up. They said they could not see the rate or the fee as I had used a third party booking site. I never saw this site nor the name. No email was received. When I got the bill on my credit card, I contacted that number and discovered I had used getaroom.com and agreed to a $45 fee for a $109 room by giving my credit card number. I called them and they said no refund of the fee would be granted. No one would ever agree to a $45 fee on a $109 room when the $109 was the hotel's rate anyway. They are thieves and should be shut down for unethical business practices. Unfortunately, there is no avenue to resolve complaints like this and the power goes to the thieves.

Thanks for your blanket statement of legally being in the right. I did not get an instant email with a receipt and didn't until days later when I found out who had actually charged me. None of it was fully visible. None of it was clear. If it was clear, would you have anyone knowingly agree to $45 fee on a $109 room rate that was the same $109 the hotel offered? You couldn't make money in your shady field. Your legal defense covers you, but ethically it is clear you are thieves. Your pathetic follow up does not deem this complaint as "resolved".

Getaroom refused refund & fraudulent advertising

Our son booked motel rooms for Embassy Suite by Hilton, Anaheim, CA. The site was the first one listed for Embassy Suite, by Hilton. The site never disclosed they were a 3rd party---the site appeared to be a direct reservation to the motel---Justin our son booked his reservations and submitted his Visa to secure his reservation----Nowhere is it listed they are a travel agency and 3rd-party. Facts: My husband and I wanted to help our son and family enjoy a short vacation (he was a US Army Ranger----deployed 7-times in 4 years) so we contacted the Embassy Suite by Hilton directly and paid the fee for the room. Reference #2351728. Justin called 5-seperate times requesting cancellation and a refund. Customer service has been Rude and has continually lied. gateroom said no-one could make reservations directly to the Embassy Suite, Hilton-----Yet it was done, getaroom customer service stated payment had already been issued and could not be refunded---another LIE----Both Justin our son and myself called the finance department at the Embassy Suite by Hilton, Kenny the accountant for Embassy Suite by Hilton confirmed No-Payment had been received from Getaroom----the rooms had been paid in full by my Visa. The resolution is issue a Full Refund for Reservation # [protected] for a former US Army Ranger/CHP.

Getaroom hotel confirmation notices are not what was booked

On October 17 we and our friends booked two rooms for the Park Hotel, Clarke Quay, Singapore for Feb.27-Mar 2, 2019. These were made by your representative Nicholas and were for 2 Superior Rooms, King beds, fully refundable, with Breakfast and free wifi. When we received our confirmation, we noted the rooms were "Superior Rooms with Internet, Non refundable and with no Breakfast or wifi.

We have talked to Customer Support twice and each time they have said "rooms are non refundable, no change can be made". We explained this is not what we agreed to when we booked and that you have changed our booking without our consent.

We have made every effort to have this corrected and if not corrected to receive a refund. All requests have been denied.

We believe this unethical at best and fraudulent business practice at worst

We sincerely hope you will review this matter and amend the booking to reflect the terms we agreed to or refund our bookings, since that is the terms of the booking we agreed to when we made these reservations with your representative.

We bought and paid for refundable bookings, specific room types with breakfast and that is not what we received from you.

Thank you for your response to our concerns. We have discussed this matter with Laura in Customer Relations who was very helpful in having this matter reviewed by senior management and a satisfactory resolution found. As mentioned by Getaroom, the bookings have been cancelled and a full refund is now being processed. We expect confirmation by our credit card company shortly.
We are hopeful that Getaroom's internal procedures will be improved to ensure this does not happen to future customers.

Getaroom fraudulent advertising

Googled my hotel and this was the number which came up for guest reservations. Agent did not disclose that this was a 3rd party booking company and tricked me into up-front payment for my room with the scare tactic of telling me there was only one room left. It was never clear to me that I was not dealing with the legitimate hotel reservations system. It wasn't until I received the shady email confirmation that I figured out something wasn't right. Called back and tried to use prompts to cancel- they lead NOWHERE, FYI. Finally was connected to someone in "customer care" who told me I have no option for cancelling and getting a refund. This company is a sham and uses trickery to masquerade as hotels themselves. I DO have an actual reservation with the hotel but if my flight gets cancelled or I am not able to attend my conference for some reason, I will be out the $631 I was tricked into paying up front which is exploitation. Getaroom reservation fee

On Sept. 27th I logged into the Hilton Garden Inn, Monterey and called the reservations number in the upper right hand corner and made reservations for 2 king rooms for Sept. 29th to Sept. 30th, R1250557678. When I checked to confirm my reservation I realized that I was tricked into believing I was on the hotel's website but it was actually getaroom.com. I immediately called getaroom.com to cancel but was told that I couldn't because I should have called the day before I actually made my reservation (Sept.26th). When I questioned this I was told that getaroom.com follows the hotel's policy for cancellations. When I called the number for reservations that appeared on the hotel's website, the person never identified themselves as getaroom he just said "reservations" misleading me into believing I was in contact with the hotel. When I asked if the hotel gave a AAA or AARP discount he said oh no the hotel can't do that because it's too close to the reservation day, again misleading me into believing I was in contact with the hotel. I did not get a discount on the room. They charged the same price, $309. per room, the same as the hotel charged with a "service fee" of $214.82. I think getaroom.com is a scam that tries to get rich on people's hard earned money by trickery and I think I should be refunded the full amount of that outrageous fee of $214.82.

Getaroom fraudulent advertising

I booked a room for my wife's birthday party at the Crowne Plaza in Columbus, Ohio. Although I thought I was booking directly with the hotel, I found upon securing the room that I had booked through a 3rd party - Getaroom.

The room advertisement was for an Executive King, and the picture showed a living room, dining room and separate king size bedroom - total of 700+ sq. ft. The price was appropriate for that type of room. When my wife checked in, there was a king size bed and 1 chair in a 300 sq. ft. room. Getaroom told me there is a description of the room being booked and quoted the description to me in their email answer to my complaint. They basically said any confusion was my fault.

This company shows you one thing to attract your attention, knowing that they are selling you something entirely different. Next time I will be sure to book directly with the hotel.

Getaroom reservation fees

On Sept. 27th I called into the Hilton Garden Inn, Monterey to reserve 2 king rooms by and called the reservations number in the upper right hand corner. After making the reservations, I immediately checked my email for the confirmation and to my surprise, as I'm sure you already know, I had unintentionally made them through getaroom.com. I immediately called getaroom.com to cancel and was told I was too late that I should have cancelled the 26th, the day BEFORE I actually made the reservations. When I questioned this I was told that getaroom.com follows the hotel's policy for cancellations but upon checking the hotel's policy they have a three day cancellation not 2 day as told my getaroom.com. I think it's so lowly that getaroom.com has to try to get rich by tricking people out of their hard earned money by intentionally leading people to believe they are making reservations with the hotel and then charging such an outrageous reservation fee. The fee I was charged is $214.84. There was no discount for the rooms. I was charged the same price as the hotel charged. If I was in contact with the hotel as I was led to believe my total cost would have been about $ 688.00 including taxes and fees. My reservation number is R1250557678648 for $834.84. I was offered a 10% discount when I complained but I think I should be refunded the remainder of the fee for $131.56.

Getaroom the work environment

I wish u guys could get better management to control your business in Montego bay Jamaica, all these people does especially under the Getaroom campaign is steal people hardworking money! And come with some stupid excuse, means and ways to take persons money! I cant be getting up out of my bed and at the end of the day i cant get my hard working money! This is foolishness, i need someone to speak to so my voice can be heard cause u all dont know whats happening in Jamaica. You need to come to Jamaica and speak with the agents. All they do is rob our money that we should earn, we all have responsibilities and its totally unfair.. Pleade someone get back to me

Getaroom customer service

We booked a room three days ago for the upcoming weekend. We accidentally booked for the wrong night (our fault). We wanted to move it one night up. No refunds wanted or anything like that. Just change the date by one night. They said we had to cancel and make a new reservation. So we would essentially be paying for two nights but only staying for one. We called the hotel and they said they said Getaroom had our money and that they were unable to change but that it should be no problem. The hotel has no cancellations fees, the room was available and they were happy to give it to us (via Getaroom) and they also stated that they have never heard of this before and as long as it was 24 hrs in advance it should not matter (didn't matter to the hotel). Their email says the hotel policy is the reason we can't cancel (even though we just want to change dates) but the hotel said that is ridiculous. Do not blame hotels policies. Please explain why I cannot just change my dates. This has been the WORST experience and no one should ever use them. Clearly this all about money and not about the customers. I'm sure Bob Diener would be very disappointed. At least I would hope so. Lesson learned for us.

Please bear in mind that your employees did not state their were no changes or cancellations. We did not know until after. I feel this is very important information to be communicating with customers. It is extremely unprofessional and just plain wrong. The terms need to be stated BEFORE so we have the opportunity to agree to them. As I stated before, this is the worst service I’ve received. This has not been resolved. Not by phone or email or your nonsense comment that was probably copy and pasted. Nobody should use your service and be misled.
