Pick n Pay expired milk

Last week, my husband bought some milk in the sachet (two packs of one litre) and he put it in the fridge as we usually do. Two days later when, we open one of the packs it was expired already so we threw it away. Initially I thought it was my fridge that was not working properly, so I check everthing and there was nothing wrong with the fridge. So on Sunday 30 August 2015, I bought the 3 litres bottle at picknpay hyper this time, put it in my fridge and the next day it was expired again and we didn't even consume half of it. Few 2 days ago I bought 2 sachets, this time I put it in my deep frizer, took it out today and yet again it has expired.
With all this happeing I can only conclude that Picknpay is selling expired milk. I don't know if it is willingly or not but they need to investigate the matter.

Pick n Pay back to normal

After being ripped of by Spar for so many years the opening of the p n p store was welcomed by all Sedgefielders. After six weeks of happy shopping things are back to normal. eg There is not one special on the shelves, products are priced higher than all other p n pays.Why is this? Oh sorry, the management has stayed the same, the same management that ripped us off all the years.I love to shop at p n pays around South Africa, not having traveled to Zimbabwe I would imagine Sedgefield p n pay to be the p n pay of a 3rd world country. Please send a district manager to look for the near non existent no name brands and the general cost of all products in comparison to other p n pays. Spar allowed the store management to put on there own markups. Is this what is happening again? I am 58 years of age and have shopped in supermarkets since the early seventies. I am sure that If Mr Ackerman Had to shop in the Sedgefield p n pay he would disown it. Thank you for taking the time to read my grievance.

I bought a DVD-R on Saturday [protected] 13:47 and was charged R5.00 (instead of the stated R4.00), when I brought this up I was charged only R4.00. When I enquired about the Pricing Policy, I was told if the barcodes match the item will be given for free and the remainder at the lower price . I have however had the same scenario (where the barcodes did not match and the Pricing Policy was applied) - Van Riebeeck Mall Pick n Pay. Must the customer search the entire shop for the correct Barcode? When is the Pricing Policy applied and when not?

I purchased a bag of washng powder at the Malvern branch of Pick and Pay, went home only to discover that I took a bag of regular powder instead of the auto brand, with all my shopping I throw away the cash sale slip as soon as I leave the store, I got home and realized that I had the wrong brand, I promptly sent a friend to exchange the item and the person was practically harassed at the store by the staff and store manager, at that particular time only Pick and Pay was promoting that item, they knew it was their product but they were still in denial about the product, after much convincing the accepted the product but recuired a surcharge for the exchange .
surely a company of this size emphises the importance customer services, but with Pick and Pay it is non existent

Pick & Pay had a promotion where you collect stamps for a set of pots and pans. Since the closing date, they didn't have enough stock for all the customers. The promotions expiry date was to collect was 27-03-11. Although they said that the date would be extended to collect stock, they still don't have any stock, and don't seem to bothered or interested to be of any help. We have been riding up and down, just to get there for no service. The one manager told us to come and pick up our pot on 31-03-11, because he is going to the supplier personally, and there will be stock. When we got there again, still no stock, still no service. They just pull up their shoulders and couldn't care. What are we to do as small customers, when big companies just do as they wish. They are already promoting their next promotion, Smart Points, but couldn't yet deliver on the previous one.

Needles to say I will not do my shopping in the shop anymore. The staff treat you as if they own you something. In this hard times we do not have money to through away and would like to see a smiling face or just good morning and thank you. But no Sunday after church we were treated like 'oh what do you want' and 'Ag I am not in the mood' form the Supervisor and one of the packers. No this is not on!

Let it be said once and for all - the shop is as filthy as it has always been, floors are not being washed, check-out counter tops look close to revolting, shelves are near to empty regarding essentials, the service is pathetically poor with queues getting longer by the day and on the hottest days of the year the air conditioning is switched off. It seems that the owners are just not interested/unwilling or, more than likely, unable in presenting a clean well run franchise. Quite frankly, we have stopped buying at the shop and now travel to either Knysna or George to do our shopping.

Please provide as much information as possible...For 2 weeks now no small lux soap on shelves and there are always empty shelves for weeks at a time not been restocked and management not interested and when there are specials there is never enough stock.

When I make a legitimate complaint on a "complaints" website, I get an immediate response from a senior marketing puke who invites me to contact them personally in order to resolve my complaint. My complaints are not resolved and so I contact them...with no response. They are just professional box tickers who play the corporate game of appearing to give customer service but deliver nothing. Pick and Pay...You should hang your head in shame.

Pick n Pay disgusting service

My wife and i were standing behind two ladies at a till.As they empty the trolly they took the till closed notice out between the handle and back of the trolly "The sign was concealed so that we could not see it " my wife then approached the lady at the till and asked why she did not tell us instead of giggling at us with the two other ladies.Being in the supply chain MNT myself i find this to be other disgusting customer service and Pick 'n Pay shop Edleen did not just suffer the loss of a sale but also the loss of a customer as we will not shop there again.

Pick n Pay promotion 3 for 2

I wish to complain about the 3 for two promotion pick n pay had been running.

It appears that they too are attempting to draw their customers with these clever promotions, however
I was very disappointed. Add says buy any three the cheapest one free, which to me the customer means
I get to choose any three products advertised and I would get the third product for free.
Like it is with clicks does matter if I choose three of the exact same product the third product is free,

But oh no not with pick n pay. I bought sanitary towels which was on this promotion in the sale or promotion issue running until the
3rd of May and I’m very disappointed I believe that this promotion is misleading; I have to pay the full price for all merchandise.

My argument is not about that I had to pay for the third product, it is that the add placed is misleading. It is after all my choice as the customer which products I opt for. If this is the case I think pick n pay should revise their add strategy.

Pick n Pay Hot foods manager

I am a 60 year old happy soul who has been shopping at Pick n Pay Bonaero Park for the last 12 years and have always enjoyed the shopping experience and especially recently since the new store manager "Manny" took over the store. What an exceptional human being. However on the 2nd April 2015 I once again visited the store to purchase groceries and as always buy take aways from your hot food section. On this particular day a "manager" by the name of Andrew served me. I politely greeted him and was met with a bored stare. He looked to his left as he addressed me as if I was a dog in the street. I am old enough to be his grandmother. He has no respect. During the whole time in which this "pipsqueak" attended to me and answered me he refused to look at me and kept looking to his left whilst replying. He was bored stiff and had no time for me whatsoever. I walked out feeling very humiliated and worthless. I told my family what happened and my son and family were extremely upset. We (myself, my husband my son and his family, , my daughter and her family will never be shopping at that store again. He is not just a bad apple he is rotten to the core. To the store manager- I wish him all the success in the world but feel he will never succeed with staff like this. I will now be the happy little soul shopping at Checkers accross the street. Pick n Pay staff racial discrimination

I will never suppost pick and pay again after being treated like crap cos of my skin colour. Being dismissed by the lady that we cant pay at the counter only to find that when walking away she assists african guys... So tell me is my money not welcome there?

Pick n Pay online shopping

I did online shopping of my groceries and book delivery for the 2nd Oct between 7-8pm, @ *:30 I called as nothing was delivered, was told someone will call me to explain, and that they would only deliver the next day, it was booked for the 3rd October 10am, 10am came and went, still nothing, I called again to complain, and did not seem to get anywhere, was promised 1pm, 1pm came and went, still no call, i have been without groceries and it seems no matter who i speak to nothing happens, get told i will be called, but nothing. Have spoken to supervisors but nothing.

I have spend the whole day calling people for nothing as it seems no on cares, is this the service that Pick n Pay gives?
yes it is, this is the reality that they just don't care about the customers.
Pick n pay will never see me again.

Pick n Pay attacked in pick n pay

Good day
I am writing to let you know about my experience at Vangate Pick n Pay last week
I walked into to Pick n Pay at 14:05 and I only wanted a few things, I rushed through the store because I had to pick up my dog from the vet at 16:00. In approaching the checkout counters I realised out of 20 lanes only 5 were open, I found this ridiculous! I looked around for a store manager or any sort of manager but there was none. Every lane was filled with at least 15 to 20 customers.
The Gentleman in front of me had a trolley filled with goods and I heard him complain to his wife about the fact that there was so few lanes open. Since there was no manager present I decided to google the number of the store and speak to him directly. I called and on my fifth try I managed to get through, a lady answered with “Vangate Pick n Pay Michaela speaking” I asked to be put through to the store manager and she put me through, the phone rang a few times and I could tell it was then diverted back to the switch board where my call was dropped. I called a total of 27 times, before I got through to switchboard, again Michaela answered the phone, I told her I’d been trying to get through for the longest time, I told her I was a customer and I was standing in the store and I wanted to lay a complaint to the store manager so I would appreciate it if she could stop dropping my call, and if she dropped my call one more time I would walk into her switchboard area and put the call through myself, she was quiet for a minute then said okay you are going through, and surprise, surprise the call was dropped!
I left it and I thought I’d complain to a manager after I had gone through the checkout, As I was standing in the lane I notice one of the employees that had been walking up and down chatting to tillers and having a laugh while I was trying to get through to the switchboard tell another employee quite loud “Ek wil die fokken vrou sien wat so omberskouf met my was” (My Afrikaans is not the best) She went on for a bit…. And I got very irritated. I walked out of my lane and walked up to her. I said “I am the woman you’re swearing about, I’m standing at the back of the line and I can hear how badly you’re talking about me! There is no sense of professionalism in this entire store.” This lady, Michaela started screaming on the top of her voice saying how dare I say she dropped the calls it wasn’t her!, of course it was her she was on switchboard! I asked are you not here to provide a service? She said yes but only to customers! The customer in front of me interjected and said “so what is she! she is a customer! That’s her trolley! You are ridiculous how can you talk to a customer like that! What ensued after that has left me disgusted at the Pick n Pay brand. This lady through her hands up in my face screaming shouting and swearing at me saying who the hell do I think I am and I should have respect for people that are older than me! I was verbally attacked in the store by this lady it took 2 other woman (Pick n Pay employees) to pull her away from me… 2! This lady was advancing to hit me she was threatening me! I kept on saying get the store manager! Luckily the other customer’s in the lane with me gave me support some of them said they were so tired of the terrible service they received there.
Eventually the store manager Sadaka came out to see me. He asked me to step into their office to talk about what had happened, by that time it was 15:45 I was late to pick up my dog! He took my details and the customer in front of me came back to tell him that he had seen and heard everything he saw how I was abused he saw how I was treated all because I wanted to complain about the fact that there were not enough lanes open. As I was talking to the store manager the lady came back and stood there and tried to stare me down. The manager never even asked her to leave!
Sadakka called me later that evening to apologise and said he had given he a final written warning! This lady verbally attacked me, two woman had to pull her away, other customers came to my defence and she got a final written warning!
Pick n Pay Vangate has gangsters and low life’s working for them. Anybody walking into that store should fear for their safety. There is no professionalism they do not honour the CPA. Jonathan Ackerman I see has a standard response to all customers that write in a complaint. But people should know! Do not support this brand they do not value the customer there is no respect.

Pick n Pay my shocking easter surprise at pick n pay canal walk

I feel this is a racist attack on me as my rights was violated in pick n pay canal walk and then banned for defending myself!

Story goes like this: wednesday 13 march at 2pm I visited the canal walk store, I came across a usn fat burner combo with a paper barcode r329 but when I went to till 15, it scanned r299. I immediately took the cashier at till 15 to the exact corresponding barcode as dilwinaaz previously said that the cashier must remove the barcode! Then another pick n pay employer rudely pulled out the barcode and squashed it in front of me the customer! Is that ethics? Imagine that's what canal walk employees does rude, no ethics. Dilwinaaz was called who offered no help! She as a manager made a statement that I never buy from pick n pay and I make use of scanright! Please also check camera footage for monday 11 march where I bought big block bonnita cheese and johnsson uniforms which came to r200 odd rands and I paid with my gold amex card and on tuesday 12 march 2013 at 4pm where I purchased pyrex bowls and few other item for r488 (Card) and thereafter r80 cash! I also buy 3 packs cigarettes every other day! To make that statement is demeaning and I demand action! What kind of manager is that to make such harsh cold statements? Its pick n pay scamright policy! Thursday I visited the canal walk store to buy chicken breasts and before I could buy the breasts I was called to marwaan office who said i'm no longer welcome in the store! I said cool! End of the day its us the customers that pays this guys salary and even if you lose 1 customer that's not good - we the customers are the lifeblood of pick n pay canal walk! So guys if you want to be insulted and treated like crap then please visit the canal walk store!

Making false allegations against me to sweep pick n pay's lack of integrity under the carpet is not going to resolve this problem! If you make statements that I was abusive on various occasions which is not founded, bring proof to the table! Why was I banned the following day?, why wasn't I warned previously on the so called various occasions that I was abusive? Remember pick n pay is defaming me and that's ok but when I share my horrific experience then its not ok? Where's the logic?
It is evident that pick n pay promotes racism as pick n pay closed the matter without providing me with justified answers to the following questions:

We have Rights and to have Rude Uncouth Managers violate our Rights we must stand up Together! Imagine Marwaan, the Store Manager, said I'm no longer Welcome in his Store(IS IT Because I'm INDIAN?)- All I did was stand up 4 my rights- he was so COLD! Gulwinaaz made harsh statements to me to which I had to defend myself! Need a reason as to why a Pick n Pay employee Squashed the barcode in front of me- is that good business practice? The next Day I was banned from the Store by Marwaan who wasn't even present during the incident!So Guys if you want to be insulted and treated like crap then Please Visit the Canal Walk Store! You too might be banned or Not Welcome for Standing up for your Rights! The saying goes if you can't handle the heat Get out of the Kitchen! I FEEL THIS IS A RACIST ATTACK ON ME AS MY RIGHTS WAS VIOLATED IN PICK N PAY CANAL WALK AND THEN BANNED FOR DEFENDING MYSELF!

Pick n pay canal walk is racist! My rights was violated!

We to have our consumer rights so if pick n pay doesn't want our business, don't value us! Then why support canal walk! Sorry get facts straight! I wasn't screaming at your staff, I was being accused and obviously going to defend myself! Can gulwinaaz back her statements? I also was in a state of shock when I saw a pick n pay employee squash the barcode! I was banned for defending myself, marwaan wasn't even there, and consumer cape town got back to me to contact human rights!

Take legal action i'm prepared, I have my lawyers too! Read scanright policy: at the time of purchase..., doesn't read after the purchase! Squashing barcode, falsely accusing customer with empty statements that can't be backed up and banned for what? Its fine for gulwinaaz to defame and you think ill sit quietly! Don't think i'm mad!

Canal walk is the most disorganised store ever! Pick n pay managers are rude especially gulwinaaz so guys don't shop there as they got no respect and treat u like crap! Emailed paul marsh pick n pay divisional manager groceries at 9.30am wednesday 20 march with regards to my rights being violated in canal walk (Racist motivation) my email to him is as follows: now awaiting quick response & feedback!
I'm having endless problems with pick n pay canal walk and I now come to you for assistance!

We have rights and to have rude uncouth managers violate our rights we must stand up together! Imagine marwaan, the store manager, said i'm no longer welcome in his store (Is it because i'm indian?)- all I did was stand up 4 my rights - he was so cold!

Gulwinaaz made harsh statements to me to which I had to defend myself! Need a reason as to why a pick n pay employee squashed the barcode in front of me - is that good business practice? The next day I was banned from the store by marwaan who wasn't even present during the incident! So guys if you want to be insulted and treated like crap then please visit the canal walk store! You too might be banned or not welcome for standing up for your rights! The saying goes if you can't handle the heat get out of the kitchen! Marwaan if your store can't handle the scamright policy remove it!

We to have our consumer rights so if pick n pay doesn't want our business, don't value us! Then why support canal walk! I was shocked when the pick n pay employee squashed the barcode not to honour promises and managers are rude & arrogant! Mary-Anne Hattingh is Taking awfully long to investigate with no feedback whatsoever! Maybe she requires the assistance of the Scorpions? This matter as confirmed by Mary Anne a price of R649 or a board of R599 doesn't match the scan price of R300 so the Scanright Gimmick is back! Something so simple to understand has been escalated from higher grade to Super grade to understand!

I have met with Alfa Solomon and Marwaan (customer service store manager) at 4.30pm at the Canal Walk Store Thursday 21 FEB.

The meeting was unsuccessful as both Alfa and Marwaan already decided on the outcome and wasn't prepared to listen! Marwaan is very shrewd as I explained that Russel Hobbs Tower fan is only one and there is no other models or variants so the picture I sent to you with the display board R599-95 and picture of the box and barcode is obviously Scanright policy.

This both denied so Marwaan said if I have a picture of the scanned price which I said NO but said Thabo is well aware of it. He said no I don't have the picture! So I said are U and Thabo prepared to Lie which he smirked. So I asked where is the integrity if senior management from Pick n Pay can Lie, where's the ethics? Alfa then said Pick n Pay is a brand and she would do anything to protect the brand! So assume she too can lie to protect the brand? What a circus!

I haven't met anyone as shrewd as Marwaan and he thinks he's clever and conniving. But thinks is operative word. Just to burst his bubble, I actually do have a picture of the scanned price and just like Alfa I'm too prepared to go to any lengths to expose this racket which lacks integrity and definitely will create public awareness.

I am sending you the pictures of the Display board, Box, Barcode and the Scanned Price! I am busy preparing letters for Hello Peter, Complaints board and I am gathering all my relevent emails including all that I sent to [protected]@pnp.co.za which was never replied and forwarding it to Megan Power at Sunday Times Consumer Watch. Imagine [protected]@pnp.co.za is the store email address and not to receive any reply is shocking. This just proves how disorganised the Canal Walk Store is and the managers like Thabo and believe it or not Marwaan who is the so called Customer Services manager Can't handle customer complaints. You need managers who is honest and has integrity, imagine both Marwaan and Thabo is prepared to lie for each other! This incident has definitely left a huge dent in Pick n Pay's integrity! Luckily I didn't put all my cards on the table as I was dealing with such managers!

Pick n Pay pricing, policy & bad attitude!

I visited the Canal Walk store on Monday at 10am. While shopping I came across a Russel Hobbs Tower Fan, it displayed a certain price but scanned a different price! Thabo was called and he says its not scanright and wasn't at all helpful! I asked questions which he failed to answer! I said if the product displays a price but scans differently obviously that is scanright policy, but he bluntly refused and provided no explanations! Thabo who is a Manager must be more qualified to handle customer complaints and in a senior position should be able to answer questions, he was not helpful and cold. Thabo obviously can't simply take responsibility for his staff(Pic n Pay) mistakes. He says the board should of been removed in the morning, so how is that my problem if it wasn't? Pic n Pay should take responsibility as it was their error so why must I be inconvenienced and receive bad attitude? Customer service in Pic n Pay Canal Walk is appauling and managers like Thabo is providing poor customer service. I always thought Pic n Pay has integrity but they fail to honour its policy. Pick n Pay bad attitude staff

On Friday, November 23 we visited the North-Gate Pick 'n Pay shop just to buy a few items. None problem at all we took our stuff and we went to pay at the tills, fine enough there was an old lady in front us who could not find her purse to pay and the lady who was packing the plastics informed us to move to the next till which a woman by the name of Michelle was sitting and had the queue barrier with a trolley (first amazing thing, to close queue isles with dangerous trollies". Michelle told asked us "who sent you here? cant' you see I'm closed" and she told us we need to go somewhere else as she was not going to serve us and she started walking away (second amazing thing, her attitude) YOU DO NOT SPEAK TO SOMEONE WHO CONTRIBUTES TOWARDS YOUR SALARY LISLE THAT. one of the guys in the tills which I can point took our stuff and we paid, Michelle walked back to her till dragging her feet and of course we said a few words to her about her attitude and what she said to us was "WAT SOEK JULLE, VOETSEK". She spoke Afrikaans to us! i don't know what that mean and we laid a complaint to the supervisor who took ma details but has not contacted me for feedback about the case.

Pick n Pay bad attitude by staff

Am sick and tired of Pick n pay with their staff that has bad attitude. Am the type that believes that a whole bag that has one rotten potatoe must not be condemned in spoling the rest. I know there's excellent staff in Pick n pays and they offere excellent service. But Boulders Mall in Midrand has a Pick n pay that according to me and my expiriences never offer excellent service. I understand there's an ongoing problem with FNB debit cards the gold ones whenever we purchase we told the Pick n pay machines cant read this card. Now am a person who works in a company that renders service i attend to customers on a daily basis and one of the rules when you render service or dealing with a customer is NOT TO MAKE YOUR PROBLEMS THE CUSTOMERS PROBLEMS! Make the customer understand the problems you have and offer a solution!dont impose your incompetent facilities on the process of me buying something, and leave me there to sort myself out ! I got to Boulders pick n pay today and was at the express till when i was told debit card is not readed by machines and was assigned to another cahsier to help who had a very bad attitude as if i said do the job you do? I dont enjoy my job at times but i never let the customer see the feeling am feeling cuz it's none of his her business, wether am over worked or underpayed or have my own personal problems it's none of her business she/he is there to get and pay for service ...and ma there to generate income for the business! This cashier says my card is declining talking to the packer and threw ma card on the cash desk without conveying the message to me! Am using my money to buy whatever i want and i see no reason for Pick n pay staff to treat us like we begging for products you sell? Do we now have to offer taking your staff for a "Customer -service workshop"? Cuz you dont invest in such workshops that's why you have staff that think they are selling sweets at their Uncle's back room...we dealing with Pick n Pay here the leading and dominant force in retail industry...it's a BIG BRAND! And i isuggest it ships inn or out! If it's not long queue's it's bad service or the bad attitude from stuff! South Africa is the way it is because we accept bad servie from big brands that should invest in selecting the excellent people to do a job, and make people understand the role of thei jobs! Pick n pay stuff is lazy, bad attitude and very incompitent! and i know this complaint wont be attended!

Pick n Pay smokers are more important than non-smokers

It is amazing and hugely disappointing that PnP - despite inviting feedback, then acknowledging that there is a problem, then promising a solution - STILL does not implement the solution.

Hence, disrespectful and lazy customers still continue to buy cigarettes at the normal tills while non-smoking customers are still forced to wait until the requested cigarettes are fetched from the kiosk.

In response to this complaint, the applicable store-manager phoned me and the bottom-line is that PnP chooses not to risk loosing their smoking-clients (by insisting that they purchase their cigarettes at the kiosk instead of at the till) and that it is totally acceptable to PnP to keep the non-smoking clients waiting in-line (while the cigarettes are fetched from the kiosk).

The meta-message is thus clear: Smoking clients are thus far more important to PnP than non-smoking clients!
