Hello,

Let me start off by saying that I love that Goodwill has the online auction site as a tool to empower their mission. However, something needs to be done about the shipping costs for auctions.
I understand that size and weight play a lot into the price of shipping. I ship things all across the country. Just today, I was looking at two different items, a 24" monitors and an old Radio Shack tabletop radio. It struck me as odd when I noticed the monitor that was larger than the radio had a smaller shipping charge. It was about half the price. Somebody please tell me why a small tabletop radio costs $20 to ship and an Apple Cineview monitor only costs $11.99.
I see this all the time on the www.shopgoodwill.com site and it's frustrating. Honestly, I have seen many things on your site that I would love to have bid on, but when I saw the shipping cost, I decided to go elsewhere to get the item.
You are loosing potential sales from this. I want to shop more on your site, but until something changes with the shipping charges, I will have to continue going elsewhere for items with ridiculous shipping prices.

This week (9/11/23) they (shopgoodwill.com) have kids bikes with a buy now price of $5.99. Guess what the shipping cost is? $180. Stupid! Shipping is very outrageous! Even if it is a small item, like a ring or a wallet, shipping can be over $20. That is ridiculous!

Yeah I know how you feel..

I wanted to bid on a small duffel bag that could fit in a shoe box.

When I went to the shipping charge it was actual weight 2 pounds six ounces.

Shipping weight 9 pounds..😲

A total shipping fee of $19.38.

I contacted the manager and she corrected it but left the shipping total the same..

When you get your package read the weight on the label, and you may find the actual weight is on it and not the claimed shipping weight..

Freaking scammers, had that happen twice.

I won't shop with Goodwill online until they fix their shipping proces. Pretty much everything this at least $15 to ship. So I might as well buy most of it new or off eBay. With shipping it's often the same. Also I feel like it's a scam. Why charge as if 5 lbs of the doll is less than 1/2 a lb. And I've noticed the shipping cost is never on the package label when I have received my items. That's skimming and lying to customers. Something should be done. They are not being transparent.

I wish I'd seen the shipping cost on my auction. It said the starting amount for shipping would be $2. I knew it wouldn't be that, but in the end it was $34. A pitcher and glasses at $15 became $54. I wish I'd never put in a bid.

Ya the shipping is outrageous. And Goodwill is non profit so im wondering if they get the 40 percent discount? I also noticed they are starting to increase action prices to over 100 dollars on items that are sold "as is" and the pics are very blurry. Def misleading so many people and its getting worse by the day. Idk if anyone else noticed, but their mission statement changed. It used to say their mission was to help low income families get high quality goods at prices they could afford. Now it says something along the lines of, to gain attention of people ages 23 to 34, to become aware that they sell high quality trendy brands.

I tried to buy three small items on goodwill. The items came to 71.00 to ship . On any other site it would of cost me 15.00. They wanted almost 20.00 to ship one action figure that cost 4.49 to ship on any other site . This is crazy I love they deals they have but if I pay the shipping cost it don't make sense I can get it cheaper new. Plus they take a very long time to send the items . I guess I would like to really know what company they use to send the deliveries because the regular post office deliveries by weight . There is noway goodwill can justify the cost of shipping on nothing they sell. If everyone stops paying the ridiculous shipping prices they will start let the customer pick the company of their choice. Ty for letting me rant 🙂 lol

They do get a nation wide business discount with FedEx..

Most of the extra cash is profit for them..

Check your weight on the package and what the weight they claimed as shipping vs actual weight.

You'll find it's the actual weight was used instead..

They are frauds.

They are charging tax on the final total of the item, the handling, and shipping. If it is sales tax then it is probably illegal. State Attorney General is our next step to resolve the issue.

It is a total scam for example I was going to purchase a Dyson fan and the actual weight of the product was 10 pounds but it stated that the packaging weighed 40 pounds! So I contacted them and they stated I was going to have to pay for the whole 50 pounds and they blamed FedEx for this arrangement! I contacted FedEx and FedEx and no it was Shop.goodwill.com charging these prices! Another example I was going to purchase a flash memory card stick and it was one of the ones that are about the size of a USB logitech keyboard and mouse USB stick which is smaller than your standard USB stick! And they wanted $7.65 for shipping and $4.99 for handling! For something that will fit in an envelope and besides what’s to handle you pick it up slide it in an envelope slap the shipping label on it and it’s ready to go The BBB and the government needs to crack down on them because they are ripping people off and if you want my opinion I think they should be arrested because that is fraud and a scam!

I also agree that the shipping costs are a scam.

If they are charging you for handling on top of shipping you should be able to schedule and pay for your own pick up with the same carrier.

If I don't receive an acceptable resolution to my issue I am contacting the California State Attorney General and filing a formal complaint.

I 100% agree! First off why is evey shipping company different? Why are there handling for the same idem 4.00 in one location and 15.00 at others? How can they offer a estimation shipping price and then double even triple the charge after your commited to buy? I was happy to win a item for 10 bucks, then when i go to pay its 40.00 total to ship from Seattle to Colorado! Its 4lbs! God forbid you dont pay, then your privileges get suspended! I cant believe they can and have gotten away with this!
