TurboTax turbo tax premier 2018 cd version

I completed my return a prepared to submit via e-file to federal and state to claim my refund. I pay the required fee and then the programs says it can't e-file as it now detects an error. After all attempts to correct the error (my data was correct), I call customer service. Agent was very nice walked through all of the diagnosis and concluded that there was in fact a bug in the software. She let me know that I would receive and email regarding the completion of the patch which was scheduled in a few days. I hung up happy that the problem was being addressed.

I received the promised email which says "While the interview has been significantly improved, customers seeing this error will need to paper-file." Not only have I purchased their product for the express purpose of e-filing but I've paid the filing fee. Call back customer service, they're willing to refund the filing fee - how nice! They take no responsibility for the buggy software however. I'm really quite upset about his carefree attitude abut the software that I purchased that doesn't work. I would like to speak to a supervisor, sorry but that really won't help - have a good day. I am really steamed with these fools!

Turbo Tax is rejecting my return. It said that "Gov 457 deferrals - TP $37000 is more than the allowed $18500 for a government 457(b) plan. Please check your entries on your W-2 for government 457(b) plans." I was allowed to contribute $37000 using 457(b) special “last 3-year catch-up” deferral, 2x the normal $18500 contribution. Last year, the catch-up limit was $36000 and Turbo Tax had no issues. This amount appears on my W-2 on line 12a, Code G, $37000. The IRS website clearly says the catch-up provision for 457(b) is still applicable.
https://www.irs.gov/retirement-plans/how-much-salary-can-you-defer-if-youre-eligible-for-more-than-one-retirement-plan
This issue is preventing me (and others in my situation) from e-filing my Federal and State returns. Others have pointed out that there are two separate issues with 457b "Catch-up" contributions and Turbo Tax has only fixed one of them (the over 50 $6K contribution). The other issue, which is for 2x the annual contribution for the last three years ($37K for 2018) has not addressed that and the community feedback is that they are refusing to admit there is a problem.

TurboTax free tax service turned into $114.00 charge

Completed my FREE tax preparation service for both my federal and state returns with Turbo Tax. At the very last point I was told that my returns would not be free because I had one additional page that was needed. and it would cost $114.00 dollars for my federal return and state return to be filed. Never during the entire course of entering my data for the federal and state returns was I told it was not free. in fact the program kept asking me if I wanted to upgrade to the deluxe version and I always said no. I am 76 years old and my eyes are bad and my fingers hurt when typing. I was caught by surprise and after all the time I spent doing the returns I was exhausted and could not bear to think that I would have to do this all over again, so I unwillingly paid the $114.00.

When my daughters found out what had happened, they were furious and insisted that I write Turbo Tax about this unfair practice. They told me to contact the Better Business Bureau but I wanted to contact Turbo Tax first. My returns are always the same every year and are always free. I do not think it is fair to wait until the last second to drop this high charge on me. As soon as the Turbo Tax Program KNEW there was such a charge, and it was not going to be free, they should have notified me so I could have stopped and not continued to enter information until the very end. I feel this is an unfair practice and purposely designed to have one spend all the time entering information and then dropping the bad news on ones head knowing many people will unwillingly agree to the charges, because we all hate having to do taxes, rather than having to give up and start all over with another company.

TurboTax turbotax standard online edition

This is the sequel to my previous compliant that I logged after my three and a half hour run around on Saturday. I submitted a complaint then as well.

I waited for them to call back and follow up when they said they would and they didn't so I called back the next day. They helpfully provided me with a new activation code after about 15 minutes and if it had ended there I might have been content.

Instead I tried the code they gave me and it didn't work and I had to contact them again. When I called back and gave them the code and said it didn't work. They insisted it was valid but it wouldn't work for me and I even showed them it didn't via their screen sharing function.

They told me to get a refund, and I assured them that if after 5 hours at this I had to get a refund, I would not be repurchasing their product.

Their people are very kind and courteous but the system was totally ineffective and left me angry enough to do my entire tax return again from scratch just to not give them any more money.

TurboTax turbotax standard online edition

About 3pm today I contacted your customer support line at (800) 624-9066. I had inadvertently damaged the activation code on my card, and needed to get someone to help me with filing my taxes since it was now asking me for a code I didn't have.

I called but the person on the other end kept me on the line for an hour and a half taking me through a series of unsuccessful stages and while I was waiting on the line the phone inexplicably disconnected.

When I called back, I was told that I was not at the right place (something the first person hadn't told me) and directed me to the 188-8829-8608 number but when I contacted that one the person there said they were still the wrong number and they directed me to the .ca website and asked me to fill out the "contact us" information so I could get the correct number.

I did so, only to discover that it was the SAME number I had just called (the 8608 number). When I called again I finally reached Thametria who finally told me that they might be able to simply give me my activation code, but after another 45 minutes of tech problems trying to visually confirm the receipt because your company doesn't have a viable e-mail address to send a photo to, I was finally told that you were out of activation codes so I would have to wait two days for a call back.

Three and a half hours of customer service later, I am writing this up to post so that someone can be aware of how badly your system broke down. I would think my problem would be one that should have an easy fix. It did not; and I hope that my taking the time to write this e-mail can provide you with some meaningful feedback as it has at least helped me put this frustrating debacle into some perspective.

Dylan

P.S. Thametria was very understanding and professional. It is the system that failed in my opinion, not her.

TurboTax advertisement on television

TurboTax is making our schools appear not to be doing their job! Their advert showing a 10 year old boy, obviously having a most difficult time spelling the word "free"! This commercial obviously tries so hard to make our teachers and schools appear that they're not doing their jobs! When a boy of that age can't spell the word " free", our country has a major problem! TurboTax should be ashamed of themselves!

TurboTax fees

I am extremely disappointed and frustrated. I already had to pay for the deluxe version and then I was charged additional fees that I don't recall agreeing to. when I called to speak with someone she informed me that I "agreed" to these extra charges to tAke my state refund out of my federal? that it was already done and submitted and there's nothing that can be done. I don't understand why nothing could have been done especially because the way the site is ! It is very deceptive and unclear... why would I have agreed to this if there would have been an extra fee of $40? I could have easily paid for state through credit or debit card. Very annoyed and will NOT use TurboTax again and will not tell any of my friends and family to use it.

TurboTax turbotax online service

I filed my federal and state return using TurboTax online service on February, 2019. I returned to amend my taxes a month later and without making any changes, the software now shows that I have additional $24 worth of refund.

Their tax experts claim, it is the correct calculation and that the previous calculation was incorrect. They have applied 2 different rules on the same data at 2 different points in time.

Due to TurboTax's miscalculation, I missed on an additional $24 worth of refund and that is after paying them $75 where they guarantee 100% correct calculation.

They are unapologetic and refuse to compensate. This practice amounts to forgery.

Here is the entire transcript.

"While amending, added INT and DIV forms, and now I see $24 more of fed refund. This is a bug in TurboTax software. Will TurboTax compensate for this?

I tried and retried and even consulted TurboTax online expert while trying to amend. The previous calculation was wrong and hence I received $24 less. Even without making any change to the amendment it shows $24 more than the previous calculation for federal refund. I paid $74.98 for federal and state and I lost $24."

But you said you added forms...
SweetieJean 5 hours ago

Yes I did. But those forms are additional income and I should be
owing IRS few dollars (grey color). But the online software does recalculation and now it shows that I have due federal refund of $10 (green color). And as I mentioned, if I remove any amendment, it moves State to $0 but the federal stays at positive $24. If the previous calculation was correct, it would go
to $0 as well.
DefraudedUser

And the online Tax expert clarified that the latest calculation is
correct and it rarely happens but it does and I did lose $24. I
have been using TurboTax for 3 years and I don't know if the bug has affected me in the past or will affect me in the future,
especially when each year I am paying $75 dollars.
DefraudedUser

And also, there is a refund of $7 listed under State. So all in all I
lost $24 + $7 = $31
DefraudedUser

Now when I redo it, $24 is still there but CA is gone to $0.
DefraudedUser

I compared the original and the amended and it turns TurboTax
screwed up at line Part III 7c - "2017 standard deduction based on 2017 filing stat, exemptns, and deductns". The original has a value of $12600 and the amended has a value of $12700. Why did it change within a month? $12600 is from 2016 range for
married filling jointly. $12700 is from 2017 onwards.
DefraudedUser

Your post is confusing, but any change in income (up or down)
can also affect deductions and credits. EIC, for example, is paid on a bell curve...it goes up as your income does, and then starts
to come down.
SweetieJean an hour ago

As I mentioned, without making any changes and simply
clicking continue button changes the federal refund value to
$24. I have screen shared with 2 different tax experts and they
don't know why.
DefraudedUser

There is nothing to compensate for. You're now getting a
larger refund.
TurboTaxAnita an hour ago

That is incredibly unprofessional and pretty lame. So you use
same algorithm on the same data set at 2 different points in time and you come up with 2 different values? And you charge me $75 guaranteeing that the calculations are correct? That
amounts to forgery. I will submit this chat to consumer affairs.
DefraudedUser

I have 2 different PDFs generated generated with the same
data set with different rules applied. Once you applied a
standard deduction of 12600 and at the other 12700.

Turbo Tax/Intuit "Helpline"... (the entire service*!) is a fraud! I paid Up-Front (NO Choice!) to file my self-employed taxes and while I did receive the little Visa 'Debit' card over a Month ago, NOTHING has ever been loaded to it, and I haven't seen ANYTHING about my 2017* tax return..! Sure, you can call the "helpline", but getting a Human Being is rare, at best, getting someone you can Understand* is even More Rare. I have called at least 7 times in the past 3 weeks trying to find out Anything about where my returns Might be but I receive Differing or No answers each time.

The entire experience has been a nightmare, so far... with No End In Sight...!

Get a quote from a REAL Tax service ... This* is another on-line Scam, as far as I* can tell!

TurboTax deluxe

As a customer for 15 years I'm careful to purchase the correct version for me - TurboTax Deluxe with 1 free State that E-files for $19.99.
After completing the State return, the software required $24.99 to E-file.

The box says prices are subject to change without notice. So, TurboTax, know that unhappy customers may move their business to another company without notice.

Intuit, don't expect my business next year.

TurboTax turbotax free

The tv commercials this year say "free, free, free". They should say "fee, fee, fee".

I filed for free for the last seven years. This year I needed to itemize deductions on the fed form, so the website said it would be $39.95. It also said, "Don't get out your credit card. They'll take the charge out of my refund. I figured it was a fair amount and continued filling out both the fed and state forms.

When I go to the page to see the charge, it's $119.85! The invoice showed $39.95 for fed, $39.95 for state and $39.95 fee to take sevice charges out of the refund. I went back and paid $79.90 with my credit card and won't be back next year.

There wasn't any other mention of fees except $39.95. So where did the $119.85 come from?

TurboTax ad campaign

What is with TurboTax and their Free Free Free ads?! They say that TurboTax is free, but it's really just the filing fees that are free. And that's not even accurate! The filing fees are built into the cost of the product whether you're using the download version or the online version . I've used TurboTax for over 25 years and quite frankly I find the ad campaign, Free Free Free, to be bold both misleading and completely puerile. Get back to quality ads that focus on the tremendous benefits of TurboTax, please!

TurboTax turbotax free

I used turbotax free when I filed my 2017 return. Very simple to use - I was thrilled, got my pin numbers for the e-file, and waited for my refund... And waited... And waited... I finally started checking into it when I still did not get my refund by mid-april. They claimed it was never filed. The pin numbers they gave me did not work either. Thank god, I did not owe, or I would have gotten hit with penalties and everything else. The irs guy told me that I was not the only one that this happened to. I got no response from turbotax when I filed against bbb either. These guys do not have a clue what they are doing. I then tried to get them to erase any of my personal information they might still have in their system - still no help. They are a security breach just waiting to happen. Do not trust them with your personal information! Total nightmare!

TurboTax not secure

Someone hacked into my account and stole my information from my 2017 tax return. I never received an email stating that my account had been used. In addition, the person/people who filed in my name completed the tax return on 2/10, yet I received an email from TurboTax on 2/14 warning me to use the same account I used the previous year to file taxes.
TurboTax does not seem to be worried about their consumers personal information. I am disappointed that TurboTax emailed me four days after the fraudulent return had been accepted by the IRS. If I had received the email the day of, I could have stopped this in time.

TurboTax tax refund software and false advertising issues

2/5/2019 - I went to file my tax returns, they tried to charge $59.99 for the premier. I called customer service because the link on their website I used said the price was $47.99. When they finally answered, the price was automatically adjusted. About 1 hour after I filed, I found that it was now $44.99 for the same service. I called the customer service number and they denied my request for a refund of the difference. Then today 2/7/2019, I went through the H&R Block tax return online software, and was able to get a bigger refund through them. I went to look up the form on their website for the Turbotax Maximum Refund Guarantee Claim Summary form which is what it said I needed to fill out in order to get a full refund according to their policy and user licensing agreement. This form is nowhere to be found online. So I called their customer service line again, and the rep I spoke with, Curtis, could not even locate the form and didn't even know about the guarantee. I requested the form and/or a full refund, but nothing was done and I'm still currently on hold and cannot get an answer from anyone.

For the first time EVER, I screwed up and Turbo Tax let me! Filed w/o a W-2 and nothing was said from TTx - I had purchased the MAX benefits package "just in case" HA! They are totally helpless. Once was told as soon as the 1040x came in someone (their CPA's) would help me amend online line by line. Called back when they said, no 1040x yet, should be tomorrow, called today, still not in. 1040x available at irs.gov! Told I would have to print out stuff and do it on paper! I'm going to a company here in town, NOT H&R Block, and get it fixed and will NEVER EVER use Turbo Tax again! It'll be worth the extra whatever just to get it done.
