National Tire & Battery [NTB] dishonest company - unethical company and personnel

Company tried to scare me into purchases which were unnecessary and would not honor my alignment agreement. I took my vehicle in for an alignment already paid for in my alignment agreement. I was told they would not perform an alignment unless I spent approximately $700 in (unnecessary - I have proof) replacement of my wheel bearings. I did not have the service performed but took my car to my certified and Mercedes trained mechanic for his opinion. He said my wheel bearings did not need replacing. I then researched normal life of wheel bearings for my car and, per Mercedes, the normal useful life is between 100, 000 and 150, 000 miles. My vehicle had 66, 000 miles and is at least annually taken for complete service to my Mercedes trained mechanic. I also asked for a nail to be removed from a tire (I also had paid for complete tire protection from this company). They said the tire was damaged beyond repair and I would need to purchase a new tire. The tire had approximately 20, 955 miles. They removed the nail but said the tire would be flat as soon as they took it off of the rack. I have driven on this tire for over 2.5 months and never had to add any air. Apparently, another major scam by the company against a senior citizen. I have the documentation from this company to support their required charges.
I want this instance of dishonesty to be documented in their record for others, especially senior citizens, to see when they research this company.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] dishonest sales associates, dishonest customer service reps, dishonest company

On Wednesday 3/27/2019, I came home to a flat tire; my rare passenger side tire. My husband took the car to NTB on 3/28 and they replaced the tire. On Friday 3/29 when I got on the interstate, my car began to shake when I went over 55 mph. I continued to drive for a few weeks in rural areas with speeds under 55 mph. The next time I got on the interstate, it happened again. I contacted NTB and they asked that I bring it in. On Saturday 4/20/2019, they called after taking my car out and shared that I needed a new rack and pinion as well as a new control arm and ball joint. They quoted to me a price in the range of $1300. After speaking to my husband I agreed to the service. The sales associate JT shared that they would have to order the parts, they should be in by Monday and they would begin repairs on Tuesday. After speaking to the sales associate, things did not sit right with me, so I went fishing through old receipts. I discovered that they replaced my rack and pinion 2/28/2016 with a refurbished one for $618.81 before labor. They also replaced the front right engine mount at this time as well (total cost $172.2). I also came across paper work that showed they replaced the front right engine mount again 10/15/2017 (total cost $915.86). So, I began to wonder why I needed steering work again in less than 5 years. When I questioned, they shared that they were not the associates then and therefore can not speak on what happened but if I wanted the work done that they suggested, they gave me a final quote of $1390.66. At I asked that they hold off and I contacted the customer service department on Monday 4/22/2019. I spoke with a rep by the name of Lauren who shared that she would be out of the office tomorrow, but would open an investigation and would follow up with me by Thursday. In the meantime, she left it to my discretion if I wanted NTB to do the suggested work. I went to NTB on Monday to get a print out of the itemized services to compare to the former work before making a final decision and learned that JT was gone for the day, my car was on the lift and they had already removed my tires. I shared with the associate that I would return tomorrow to pick up my car. On Tuesday 4/23/2019, I spoke to JT around 11 am and picke up my car around noon. When I attempted to pull off the lot, steering was difficult ( a new problem). I contacted my husband and had him drive it as well to confirm that I wasnt't crazy. As I waited for my husband I called the 1-800 customer service number again, and spoke with Lauren ( the individual who was supposed to be out). When I made her aware that I knew she was the same individual I spoke with the day before, she ignored the fact that I questioned what she told me about being out of the office and was not as pleasant. I inquired about the investigation process and shared that I wanted honesty and to feel safe to drive off of the lot. She shared that she would not suggest contacting the regional manager (her suggestion, not mine) because it would take days, but that she would call the individuals at the store. After hanging up with her, I called the Florida customer service number and spoke to RaShae. After sharing my story she spoke with Lauren and spoke to the store manger. She shared that his name was Johnathan and that he would be prepared to speak with me. Upon entry into the store, the reps were in the office. Johnathan came out and addressed me. He offered to not charge me for the Pwer Steering Fluid Exchange (an expense I wasn't charged for in 2016); not charge me for a wheel lock set ( I gave them mine and they are unsure what happened to it-it may have broken) and cove half of the labor fees. The rack and pinion is said to be new and now ironically only cost $471.91. So now my new final cost is $1139.44. They said it to me as if they are doing me a favor.
This will be the last time NTB will get my business.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] tire estimate

To whom it may concern:

On or about April 15, 2019, I went to the NTB located at 14501 Telegraph Road in Woodbridge, Virginia. I wanted a price for four tires for my RV.
I spoke to Mr. Todd explaining I only wanted tires. No balancing or mounting JUST TIRES. He gave me an estimate of $696.60. The estimate also showed a fee of $12.00.I asked Mr. Todd why was the $12.00 added. he stated he has to charge $12.00 for the disposal of the tire. It was explained that I will mount and dispose of the tires myself. He stated it was the law that he would have to charge even if I dispose of the tires. Needless to say, I purchased tires somewhere else and found them to be cheaper. Just about half.Since I was just getting estimates at the time I asked several other tire dealers about disposal fees. They all said they never heard of anything like that. As a retailer, you may be familiar with the rule of 10.
Regards
Felton Gilliam
Needless to say, you have lost a customer.
I wonder how many others have been told the same.

That's supposedly in the area concerning the franchises and that is Owings Mills location they do their own inspection of the vehicle and they come to the terms that both wheel bearings are bad the one that was installed from the original point of time is still defective so that's an issue and they're supposedly ordering the part for the evap hose with takes 4 to 5 business days the vehicle has been there since April 2nd and we had already established that the work that was done under the liability as well as is the work that was damaged don't the stuff that was damaged by the work was being done was going to be taking care of that I did not have cash to pay for more work on the other side I understand those things need to be done but I don't have the $2, 700 that these guys are requesting to get this work done so here I am a corporate April 11th trying to understand no one is called no one is giving me any kind of information I'm calling them they seem not to have any kind of knowledge about what's going on or this is what I still my only option to do to try to get some kind of resolve where is my email address sdullah21 @ gmail.com in the phone number where I can be reached at [protected] Mr. Abdullah the phone number on record with d [protected]

National Tire & Battery [NTB] employees providing false information to promote sales

Ronnie Revis
[protected]@gmail.com
I had the oil changed in my 2014 Ram truck about 3 weeks ago. While I was checking out the manager told me that I had requested conventional oil and synthetic needed to be used. ($50.00 more). He told me that I was ruining my engine and the factory recommended synthetic. He went on to tell me the conventional oil would breakdown because of the heat generated from the top end of the engine since it was all aluminum. I have been using conventional oil since I purchased the truck and he is completely wrong. Mopar recommends conventional oil and recommended not using synthetic oil before 30, 000 miles. Then they said it was personal preference after 30, 000 miles. I am wondering how many other customers has he lied too?
Today, March 27, 2019, I had the oil changed in my 2013 Kia. I asked for a tire rotation also. I got the car to the shop 1/2 hour early. I asked the manager how long it would take and he responded 1hour. 3 hours later I called the manager and asked if the car was ready and he said yes. I went to the shop and the manager told me they hadn't rotated the tires. I asked why and he told me if you rotate your tires too often they will "cup" and ruin the tires and they looked ok to the technician. I almost laughed in his face but decided I needed to complain to someone to stop this lying! Thank you,

National Tire & Battery [NTB] complete ripoff and payment not received

I took my car into ntb at the location listed above at or around october/november of 2018. It was to be a simple oil change and of course, upon further inspection, other issues arose, which I knew would need replacement due to the age of my car; however, thinking back, I wish I would have never told them about a minor squeak I had going, which was the right rear of my car. Since that time, I had to take my car back to them 7, count them, seven times and each time I took it back, the sound was exponentially louder and worse then ever. They kept putting on the wrong size rotors or drums on my car, then the brake housing (?, best explanation I can give since I am not a mechanic) system snapped which caused the springs and other metal devices to roll around inside the drums/rotors. They told me that I had the wrong shoes on my car and I said, then replace them at your cost since you can't figure out what you are screwing up, they did that, but it never cured the problem as they promised it would.
Their promises don't add up to crap. Since I have to work two jobs, my elderly mother has to take my car up to them to fix their lies, in which nothing was ever ever repaired correctly. She had to sit at their location for well over 6.5 hours each time she went up their, and every time had to ask what was going on with my car because nobody ever kept her abreast of anything.
I called corporate and they on a recorded line told me they were going to give me a refund, well, here we are weeks later and nothing. I am truly at the point where I am going to call my attorney and sue their [censored]. I am tired of lies. Empty promises and seriously people, I have to get another car because they jacked mine up so bad that I no longer feel safe in my own car that is paid off and has been, but now, I am back to potentially making car payments to have a safe, reliable vehicle, so what kind of [censored] is that to do to anybody, you promise, you lie, you don't call people back, corporate lies, so other than my attorney and picketing their location, that is what this has come to. I want my car fixed and if you can't fix it, and promise too, then give me the money to put on a new car because of your inept mechanics and inept customer service!
I am also taking a screen shot of this complaint so that my attorney has some written validity of my issues with ntb. Keep away from this place!

National Tire & Battery [NTB] damage to personal vehicle

I made an appointment for an oil change and alignment at the Merrillville Indiana location on Broadway. I went in and was told it would be about an hour before my vehicle is done, not a big deal so I waited. I heard my vehicle start up about 5 times while it was in the shop. I waited for 2 hours just to get an oil change and then they pulled my truck on the alignment rack and started hooking up equipment. During that time a mechanic damaged by brake lines and caused them to leak out all the fluid and they were unable to fix it. So after arguing to get my truck back I had to call a tow truck to bring my truck to a reliable mechanic and now have to have the brake lines replaced and had to pay for the tow. I would to be reimbursed for the cost of my brake line repair since it was damaged by the mechanics and they refused to own up to it.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] credit card fees/charges

I've been paying on my card on time until I fell on hard times. I tried to explain this to the rep on several different occasions to no avail. My credit limit was $1200 then they dropped it to $300 with no explanation. I've attempted to pay this debt off several times. Finally I got in touch with someone. Radius Solutions LLC has agreed to a accept a payoff in the amount of $441.18. I still think that's really high given the fact that it's mostly interest and fees that I'll be paying off.

I purcahsed the tires from "TIRERACK", because I was told that NTB did not handle the style and type of tire that our car required. I had the last tires that I bought the same way and had NTB install them also. No problems at that time.

Several issues where caused by the skilled labor at this time:
1. Tires didn't have the correct tire pressure in the tires, one would think that since you are the experts we would not have to correct the tire pressure after we left. The tire pressure was 44 PSI on all four tires. VW reuires 39 PSI on the front tires, 46 PSI on the rear tires. So you were wrong all the way around.
2. I made an appointment for 0800; car was not taken in until 0820. It took almost 3 hours for an oil change and tires installed. I left around 1100.
3. The cost of the oil change was almost twice the price that was quoted to me. The manager said it was because the lady on the phone was just an answering service and she didn't know what she was doing. Interesting!
4. The techinican took the wrong filter off in the first place (collant filter). The manager never told me that, he just said the a very strong man put the last oil filter on and it was extremely hard to remove. Anothe costomer told me that the technician took off the wrong filter. I asked the technicain and he said that he did.
While driving down the road our tire inflation alarm went off and our low collant light went on. I had to add 1/2 gallon of deminerilzed water so that we could continue to our scheduled event. VW require a mixture of deminerilized water and G13 G12 mixture. Not sure if the attendant added anything. I hope not. I am not happy, now I have to have the car flushed.
5. It is not good business practice to with hold information about why it took so long to service one's car. I take that as lying to me.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] customer service

Just thought you should know I'm handicapped and had a flat tire and had AAA put air in my tire to get it to the nearest tire shop. I pulled into a empty parking lot and I could see the garage had 1 car inside with all empty slots. I walked into the office and was greeted by a tall guy with glasses. Its Monday at 5 raining, and I explained to him about my flat and what I needed. He said they couldn't get to it today. What you close at 8 and at 5 with no business and I'm handicapped and he couldn't get me in. So I went next door to Discount tire and they were real busy people in waiting but still took care of me. Within 30 min I was on my way. I need new tires but after that ill never use your company. No wonder they had no business with an attitude your employee had.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] customer service and wait time after appointment was made 2 days in advance

I made an appointment online on Friday 2/8/2019 Order #[protected]- o297535599. I made the appointment because my wife was working at 5pm on Sunday and wanted to make sure I had a ride to and from NTB to get my car. I was told my car would be ready at 3:30/4pm at 3:15 I got a call saying they were a little behind I wanted to go pay so if I had to leave my car there past 6 it would be paid for and I could pick it up . When I went to pay at 3:30 my car was still not even looked at yet. I paid and left they close at 6pm I went up at 5:30pm and my car was finally brought in at 5pm even though I made a 1pm appointment 2 days prior. I waited until 6:45pm to get my car on a 1pm appointment made 2 days earlier. I have had problems in the past at this location and was warned by others about the service at store #536. As I sat there for an hour the manager Michael Raper never approached me and asked what was going on or explained anything. As a matter a fact he walked by countless times and never made eye contact completely disengaged from the situation. It takes a lot for me to take one second of my time to complain about any situation. I did what I was suppose to do, made an appointment, rearranged everyone's plans to pick up and drop off car and got screwed over by this store. I have no idea how Mike is in charge or how he is directed by NTB to make the decisions he makes throughout the day. My anger is not directed toward NTB I have always received quality products for reasonable prices, but this store and the leadership at it are a joke.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] the inside of this facility

This entire facility is filthy dirty and nasty. The customer waiting room, the mens lavatory and the sales write up lobby.
The floors through out haven't been swept in days or weeks. The floors are in desperate need of serious professional cleaning.
The men's room floor and toilet are very nasty with urine and hairs on toilet.
The trash cans were full and some over flowing.
To me, this reflects a total lack of care and professionalism. Personally I will never be back into this store and I think many other customers feel the same.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] battery replacement damage

Attention: George

On 1/23/19 I took my jeep to NTB for battery replacement. When jeep was picked up the dash display was nonfunctional. The dash was fully funtional when dropped off. When questioned, Shawn the manager about the dash not working, he argued with me in front of customers, it wasn't his fault. I called NTB customer service, was told to take jeep to dealership for diagnostic eval. Dealership found & fixed problem caused by NTB. Dealership also found that my new battery "tested bad". NTB charged me $325.36 for a new battery that tested bad, dealership charged $145.41 to fixed dash.I had to rent a car, $69, from 1/25-1/26 while my car was being serviced. I have spent appx. $540 just for a battery replacement by NTB. I am requesting a refund & I will return the default battery to NTB. Attached are invoices from dealership & NTB.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] billed for services I did not authorize

I am a 72 year old woman on a very limited income. I went into my local NTB on 2/1 to get an oil change and to have the tires on my car rotated. After about an hour, the technician, who I don't know what his name was, came out and told me that one of the brake pads on my vehicle was thin and if I wanted to have him replace it. I asked him what the total of everything would be if he changed out the brake pad. He answered 95.98. I asked him if that would include taxes and he said yes. I said ok, you can change out the pad. Once the work was completed and I went to check out, they asked me if how I was going to pay. I said debit. They told me to swipe my card, which I did and it was on the screen of the debit machine that I saw the total of 595.90. When I finally saw the invoice, it listed brake pads for both the front and rear, as well as brake shoes for also front and rear. I told the tech that that was not the amount he told me it would be, he said yes it is. I said if you had told me 595.00, I would never have agreed to the work, I cannot afford that. I only get social security and its not that much. I asked to speak to a manager, Candice Ramsey, and told her what had happened and that I did not agree to that amount. She said that the only thing she could do was remove the pads and brakes that they had installed and take off 184.98 for the parts, however, they would still have to charge for labor. I decided that I was not going to pay $410.00 for only an oil change and tire rotation and that I would try to handle this a different way since no one at the store was willing to help me. Thoughout all of this, I was very upset and crying, not knowing what I was going to do being out so much money. No one at the store even offered me a cup of water or even any kind of apology. Once I got home, I called the store and spoke to Candace again and I asked her how I could talk to a corporate representative. She said I would have to go online and look for TBC. I said how do I do that, to which she said, someone could help me and there was nothing else she could do. She was very rude. I am a cancer survivor and take medication for high blood pressure and for anxiety. This entire situation has made me just sick. I believe I was taken advantage of because I am an elderly woman. They need to change their policy and actually show customers in writing, what you're agreeing to so that there is no question as to what you're saying yes to. The resolution I am requesting is to request a refund for parts and labor for the service that was not explained to me nor I agreed to. I only agreed to an oil change, and tire rotation, and the replacement of One brake pad, which the tech told me about. I intend to pursue this until I get a resolution that is satisfactory. This is unjust, it is deceptive and just isn't right. My daughter in law's brother works for the Texas Attorney General's office and that will be my next course of action, as well as the local news consumer advocate's office. Please contact me at [protected]. Thank you.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] new tires installed - january, 2019

I recently went to an NTB in Dedham, MA - 900 Providence Hwy. In summary, there is no customer service at this location, they lie, and worst yet, they do inadequate work at a slow pace.

The details:

1. I had an appointment. I needed two tires. It was listed on their electronic board. When I gave my name, I was asked why I was there and told they couldn't accommodate walk-in appointments. I was seen after I pointed out my name of the board. I wish I had just left...

2. Despite an appointment, I had to wait quite a while for the front desk help to figure out which tire to order. I was there for 2.5 hours to get two tires put on.

3. They charged a high price for the tires (I since checked other sources - Kelley Tire, Pep Boys, Town Fair, Dedham Wholesale Tire). In addition to the tire, they charge me (without my permission) for installing TPMS. It was about $20. Money isn't the issue, but when I drove to work the next day (45 miles away) the tire pressure light came on. When I called, I was told I would have to come in.

4. After work, I drove another 45 miles and came it. The manager told me I probably needed an adjustment to the installed TPMS, and that this happens a lot. I asked why it was installed in the first place. He said it was a mandatory service. I pointed out that on the website it was listed as an option. He told me to call corporate and argue with them. Really? I thought this was a chain that followed listed rules. So I had to come in a second time to be told a lie and then made to wait again while they fixed the problem. They did take off the cost for this unneeded "TPMS" service, but I had to deal with a snarly manager to get this fixed.

5. While I was there a women came in with that I thought sounded like a starter problem. She patiently explained she needed her car to be reliable, as she has a call-in on-demand position. They took her car, listened, said they couldn't find a problem, and sent her on her way. I think a grinding sound when the key is engaged is an issue.

I would never go to this location. I went because they had evening hours and it was convenient. Guess again!

National Tire & Battery [NTB] miss diagnosis and damaging fuel pump

I towed my vehicle to NTB is Strongsville, OH, because it would not start. They diagnosed the issue as a bad fuel pump. After they replaced the fuel pump with a new one, they car would not still start. Then, they took it back out and put the old one back in. At this time, I towed the vehicle again to a specialist who identified the problem as a bad ECM that actually fixed the non starting. As I drove the car, I ran out of gas because the gas guage was reading incorrectly. I contacted Strongsville NTB and they asked me to take it to another sister NTB because I live 4hrs away from the location in Strongsville. The sister NTB store pulled the fuel pump and found it damaged, but said their district manager does not want to incur cost done by another store. I contacted the Strongsville store again and have been giving me the run around and it's been a week with no resolution.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] service and professionalism

Good day, I just wanted to voice and concerning matter that I experienced today. I strategically planned a service for new tires on my vehicle via the website. I am do to drive out of town with my family so I wanted to ensure our safety. I made an appointment time of 10am and even showed early to what I thought was a curtesy. To my surprise the gentleman at the desk was clearly already frustrated, and when he said well I will tell you now the internet isn't effective. I thought to myself well if that isn't effective then why would it give customers such an amazingly stress free way of making an appointment? He then told me he won't be able to get to me and maybe Friday or Saturday. I can tell he was frustrated with me asking questions in disbelief that I can't have my appointment that I set honored. I politely explained that I would take my business elsewhere, I never got a sorry for inconvenience or anything. My wife was probably more upset than me, she wants to cancel our credit card that we have with NTB. Like I said I just wanted to express my 1st horrible experience with NTB, that's where I get all my maintenance needs and hope to continue in future. Thank you
