I think is great, have sold and bought many items
Not sure why the bad reviews, this is like parking you car on the side of the road with a FOR SALE sign on the window, you get good people with good offers and then you will get people with bad offers, and definitely you will get people who are nothing but IDIOTS with stupid offers, well I just learn to ignore them and keep on selling/buying, there are some scammers either trying to get your item or sell you theirs,, I always meet in public and only do cash transactions, nothing over 100-200 cause you never know, Aaaah and don't forget them crackheads that like to buy stuff in the middle of the of the morning like 1, 2, 3, 4 of the morning who got nothing to do and really don't have any money to buy, they just want to know if your item is still for sale... but other than that, I have never got any emails from any one else, like some claim, haven't need to contact c. S for anything, what the hell do I need them for? This is like a flea market, your an adult and you make your own deals, if you get burn,,, that's your own fault.,, this is buyer and seller beware and at your own risk kind of deal...
Mixed Experiences with OfferUp
As someone who has explored OfferUp, I must say that my experience has been quite mixed. While the platform offers a convenient way to buy and sell locally, there are some significant drawbacks that cannot be ignored. One of the main issues I encountered was the lack of reliable customer service. It was challenging to get timely assistance when needed, especially when facing problems with transactions or listings. Additionally, there were instances where the quality of items received did not meet expectations, leading to disappointment. On the positive side, OfferUp does provide a platform for connecting with potential buyers and sellers in the local area, which can be beneficial for those looking to make quick transactions. However, improvements in customer support and ensuring the quality of listings are areas that require immediate attention for a better user experience.
Ripped off
Don't buy anything from these guys it's a total scam you will be ripped off of your money and there's nothing true of value to distinguish the amount of quality and integrity of life these days these people will rip you off and they're using sites like this to rip you off so don't buy anything from this site
-
Pros
- User-friendly mobile app
- Free listing for sellers
- Wide variety of items
- Buyer & seller ratings
- In-app messaging system
-
Cons
- High competition from giants like eBay and Craigslist
- Limited user verification can lead to scams
- Fee structure may deter some sellers
- Less brand recognition compared to market leaders
Confused
I'm not sure why the reviews are so bad but as for me as a new user it is completely awesome a few flaws easy fixes but it is a site that gets your goods out there an legitimate buyers that responded an showed up not like letgo where in my experience they play games I am very impressed with the site and will tell everyone i no how my experience has been with the site
Most Sellers don't even answer back!
This site is a waste of time. Most Sellers don't answer and just ignore your offers and questions. Not only that, but people price their stuff too high, and clearly from the endless pictures of item on dirty floor, nasty bedspread, or filthy stained carpet does not justify high price. Don't waste your time. Go on Ebay. It's still the best place to buy used and new stuff at great price if you are patient.
Works Great for me
I get why people are upset - but it's not the app's fault... There are plenty of people out there that say they want something, and then just stop messaging...
If you expect that, then it doesn't matter when it happens. I don't go out of my way to sell something and make sure I have something set up before I go pick something up but all in all, it's great! I've sold a lot of items that I otherwise wouldn't have, have sent / shipped items, and just used common sense to protect myself...
The app is great!
OfferUp: Pros vs Cons
Pros: Easy to list. Offers local pick up + shipping. Phone app easy to use. Can keep listings active for as long as you like.
Cons:
Alot of scams on the site, and fake accounts ripping people off.
*Some of the advertisers listed on the site are scams.
If using the shipping option, the selling fees are much higher than the competitor. Shipping fees also much higher. Lightweight items can be charged the same rate to ship as heavier items. The items I sell on OfferUp are, on an average, $4.50 higher than the same listing on a competitor site due to the fees and high cost shipping.
If using the shipping item, it takes at least a week for OfferUp to credit a sale. Again, longer than a competitor.
You cannot rate a buyer who fails to show up or causes problems. I think OfferUp should have this option bc it would cut down on scammers.
*The app does not allow you to delete messages. Very annoying.
Not Quite Understanding Bad Reviews
I agree and disagree with reviews here.
First of all, OfferUp, the company, is giving people/communities a common online place to sell stuff as an alternative to websites like Craigslist. Like CL, it's free and it's user friendly. However, with OfferUp, you're able to maneuver through the posting process quicker, the app/page design itself is not as antiquated and is aesthetically more appealing and it's "one and done"- you conduct the transaction from start to finish via the app. This isn't to say one is necessarily better than the other, it's your choice.
Also, like Craigslist, it is not meant to compete with Ebay, Etsy, etc. With places like the aforementioned, you pay to list, you pay to process the transaction online, and they get their cut. Because of this, they can afford to have staff to help sort out problem sellers and buyers, guarantee products and refunds, and be the intervening party so you don't have to deal with that end of it.
So, as far as what OfferUp, the business, offers as ITS product, I give it 5 stars.
Most of the complaints on here are for things I don't believe OfferUp is responsible for. No-show buyers or sellers? Block them. Lowballers? Block them. They don't respond? Block them. You don't like one word responses? Block them. These types, and much worse, are everywhere, not just on OfferUp.
Use OfferUp for its intended purpose: an online yard sale, cleaning out your closets, whatever. If you have a business to run, OfferUp is not the place for it.
OfferUp's Banning Policy is Terrible - Find Alternatives for Buying and Selling
OfferUp is a platform that I have been using for about a year now. I became disabled due to a botched spinal surgery back in 2020, and I found OfferUp to be a great place to buy things like mobility scooters and other items that I needed. I had a 5-star rating from everyone, and I was very happy with the service.
However, I started to notice that my messages were not getting through to anyone, and I wasn't receiving any messages from others either. I contacted OfferUp to let them know that there was a problem, and I asked for their help. To my surprise, I received a response saying that my account had been blocked and banned for violating their terms.
I was shocked and confused. I had no idea what I had done wrong. I sent at least a dozen messages to OfferUp asking for an explanation, but all I received were canned responses telling me that my account had been banned. I am not a young man, and I am still trying to figure out how all of this stuff works. I do not knowingly violate any terms, but without actually knowing what the term was, I am unable to fix it.
Despite being banned, I still receive at least a dozen emails a week from OfferUp telling me how much they miss me and why I haven't been on the site. It's frustrating because I was a good customer, and I was in no way a threat to anyone.
I believe that OfferUp is run by a few totally inept kids who only got off of their phones long enough to press "Send" each time I tried to contact them for help in getting back on their platform. I know that I was nothing but a stellar customer of their service and was in no way a threat to anyone.
I truly believe that they do their best to eliminate anyone who is older so that they can keep their social media influencers happy. It's a shame because I really liked using their site, but their banning policy is really terrible. Companies always die from within, and banning good customers with no way to discuss anything with anyone is not a good way to thrive.
If you're looking for a platform to buy and sell items, I would recommend going to other companies that are competing with OfferUp for your business. There are a lot of other options out there, and you don't have to deal with the frustration of being banned for no reason.
Improving OfferUp's Review Process: An Honest Review of the Platform
I recently had an experience with OfferUp (offerup.com) that left me feeling really frustrated and disappointed. It seems like some people don't understand how the review process works, or are just too lazy to provide a thorough review. For example, they may only select a star rating without giving any feedback about their experience with the seller or buyer. This doesn't give others a full picture of whether or not they should trust doing business with that person.
To fix this, OfferUp should consider pre-selecting parameters like "On Time," "Responsive," "Trustworthy," "Helpful," etc., and require users to unselect specific line items if the seller or buyer didn't meet those expectations. This way, reviews will be more useful and help people make better decisions.
I'm not the only one who has run into issues like this. Letgo also seems to have similar issues with the review process. I hope someone from OfferUp sees this and takes action to fix the problems with the platform.
Another issue I had with OfferUp was a situation where I went to meet someone for a pickup at the agreed-upon time, but the person didn't respond to my messages or answer the door. I even saw someone peeking from the upstairs window, but they never came down. Later, the person claimed they were there the whole time, but didn't hear me knocking. Despite the fact that they were in the wrong, they left me a bad review, which seems unfair and unacceptable.
I've also noticed that some people on OfferUp raise the prices after you've driven all the way to their location, or sell items that are in much worse condition than they were advertised. It's really disappointing and makes it difficult to trust anyone on the platform.
Overall, my experience with OfferUp has been quite negative, and I'm not sure if I'll continue to use it. I hope they take these issues seriously and work to create a better platform for buyers and sellers alike.
Unreliable Sellers on Offerup.com Cause Major Frustration for Buyers: A Review of My Experience
My experience with Offerup.com has unfortunately been less than enjoyable. While the website itself is user-friendly and offers a wide range of products, I have encountered one major problem on two separate occasions. This issue has caused me a great deal of frustration.
The issue is with the sellers on the site. After researching a product and finally deciding to purchase it on Offerup, I paid for the item and was informed that a shipping label had been sent to the seller with instructions to ship as soon as possible. However, after a week of waiting, there was still no notification that the seller had shipped my order. I contacted the seller, but received no response. I then noticed that the item I had purchased was still being sold on the seller's site. I reached out again, but still received no response. This caused me to miss out on opportunities to buy the product on other sites.
This happened to me before with a leather desk chair. Despite multiple attempts to contact the seller, I received no response until I was finally able to obtain his phone number and call him. He informed me that he had sold the chair three months prior. I had wasted a whole month on this guy. It seems as though I am now in the same position with the current seller I am dealing with - the seller likely sold the item months ago and has not looked at their Offerup account since that sale.
There is no incentive for sellers to keep their Offerup accounts up-to-date once an item has been sold, or to even look at it if they haven't sold anything in the last year. To make matters worse, there is no phone number or email option for help from Offerup. A seller who is no longer active on the website could leave a buyer waiting for days or even weeks without any notification.
Offerup should give sellers the ability to mark an item as "sold" once the shipping label has been sent. This would help prevent buyers from ending up in this frustrating situation. As it stands now, once Offerup sends the shipping label, the item has been sold and Offerup should mark it accordingly.
Overall, while I appreciate the vast selection of products on Offerup, the lack of seller accountability and the absence of customer support options leaves a lot to be desired. I hope they can work on improving the user experience for customers in the future.
OfferUp Shipping Service Review: Buyer Beware of Terrible Customer Service and Payment Issues
My recent experience with OfferUp has left a bad taste in my mouth. Although I had previously made a purchase through the website without any issues, my recent attempt was a complete disaster. The item I wanted to buy had to be shipped from out of state, so I decided to use OfferUp's shipping service. However, this turned out to be a huge mistake.
After paying the required amount for the item and shipping, the seller, who seemed to be new to the site, was notified that he would be paid $4 less than his sell price. I tried to explain that this was the shipping charge, but he was not satisfied and insisted on getting his money before shipping the item. I agreed to pay the $4 through PayPal, but even after that, he was still hesitant to send the item.
At this point, I was worried that I might never get the item I needed for a Christmas gift. However, I managed to convince the seller to ship the item using the tracking and shipping label provided by OfferUp. Unfortunately, things only got worse from there. OfferUp used the tracking number and knows that the item was sent, but they refuse to pay the seller for some reason. As a result, I ended up paying for two items but only received one.
I've tried to contact OfferUp several times, but their customer service is terrible. They have not been able to resolve the issue or provide me with a refund. After reading other reviews, it seems that I'm not the only one who has had a bad experience with OfferUp. Some people believe that the company is either going out of business or has employees who are incapable of keeping up with what's going on.
If you're planning to use OfferUp, my suggestion is to avoid using their shipping service and try to buy items within driving range. Also, be prepared for bad customer service and possible issues with payment and shipping. Good luck!
OfferUp Review: A Mixed Bag of Experiences for Buying & Selling Used Items
OfferUp is an app that I could talk about for hours because it's such a mixed bag of experiences. As a video game collector, I originally joined the platform when it only offered local transactions. Back then, I had some great luck finding good games at a reasonable price, and sellers found it easy to offload their unwanted items while also making some extra cash. However, when OfferUp added a shipping option, my excitement and expectations were high. The selection of hard-to-find games seemed endless, and I was eager to explore what was available to purchase from across the country.
Unfortunately, I found myself encountering issue after issue when it came to actually making a purchase. The problems that plagued my experience included sellers flat-out ignoring my messages, accepting my offer before canceling it, and ignoring my offer entirely even though it met their asking price. I even had the frustrating experience of sellers accepting my offer and then never actually sending the item, resulting in a week of confusion and ultimately having to request a refund.
The biggest issue I have with this app, however, is the inflated prices of video games. In one instance, I was able to purchase a Nintendo 3DS XL for only $30. Today, that same item is listed for no less than $75, a stark difference that makes no sense. When sellers set their prices, it's clear that many of them are basing it solely on their opinion and ignoring other platforms like eBay or Amazon, which typically have lower prices. Additionally, making an offer on an overpriced game often results in being called a lowballer or having the seller tell you that they know what their item is really worth, despite clear evidence to the contrary.
The app is also rife with scams, as some sellers will refuse to sell their items to buyers using anything except Cashapp, Venmo, or other sketchy payment methods. Even worse, they might even claim to only want to sell items locally despite selecting the nationwide option while posting their listing.
All in all, while OfferUp has the potential to be a great platform for buying and selling used items, my experience has been anything but smooth. If you do decide to give it a try, be prepared to encounter these common problems and tread with caution.
OfferUp Review: Frustrating Interface and Limited Functionality
As a user of OfferUp, I have to say that my experience has been less than ideal. While I appreciate the concept of a mobile marketplace where you can easily buy and sell items, the execution of the platform leaves much to be desired.
Firstly, I've had trouble getting traction on my posts. Despite having several items available for sale, I've only received a handful of messages and have only sold one item thus far. This can be frustrating, as I had hoped for a more efficient and profitable process.
A major frustration for me is the limited capabilities when it comes to posting ads. I prefer to use my laptop rather than my iPhone, however, you can only post an ad from a phone, which can be cumbersome. Additionally, there is a limit of just five pictures per post, which really limits the amount of detail and information you can provide to potential buyers.
Another issue I've encountered is the layout of the platform. It's not user-friendly in terms of the information being presented. You have to scroll up to see the ad information, and if you don't do that, you're left in the dark about the item you're interested in. I've also had trouble searching for particular items using the search function. When I searched for "dress," for example, none of my own dresses showed up. That is truly perplexing since I had entered my correct location, and it came up with zero results.
One of the most inconvenient aspects of OfferUp is the notification system. It seems that people can message at any hour of the day, which can be more than a little annoying. Further, the alerts don't seem to be set up quite right. There have been times when I've gotten an alert in the middle of the night, which didn't seem fair to me or the potential buyer.
As for the positive attributes of OfferUp, I'm sorry, but I can't find any. Honestly, I can't think of one thing that I've been impressed with. While I appreciate the idea of an online marketplace, the lack of functionality and frustrating interface make it incredibly bothersome to use.
I would hope that the team behind OfferUp will take a look at these issues and take some steps to rectify them. I believe it would improve the overall user experience, and make the platform more attractive for buyers and sellers alike.
Questionable Personal Information Requests and Poor Customer Service on OfferUp
I have been a user of OfferUp for a couple of years now, primarily using the platform for local purchases. While I have found it to be a useful tool for buying items in my area, I have had some negative experiences when it comes to selling and collecting payment.
One particularly troubling experience occurred when I sold an item that needed to be shipped. I promptly packaged and shipped the item within two hours of it being sold, hoping to provide a positive experience for the buyer. However, when I attempted to collect my payment, OfferUp first requested basic information regarding my name, date of birth, and bank account information, which I provided. Shortly after, I received a second personal information request, this time for my social security number.
This second request left a bad taste in my mouth, particularly given the fact that OfferUp had already waited to request my personal information until after the item had already been shipped. I was understandably hesitant to provide my SSN, and when I reached out to customer support for help, I was met with slow response times and poor solutions.
One of the biggest issues with OfferUp's customer service is that they are slow to respond to inquiries, often taking days to get back to users. Furthermore, the solutions offered by customer support were unhelpful at best. When I expressed my discomfort with sharing my social security number and requested that the transaction be cancelled, they simply suggested that I reach out to the buyer and request that the package be returned. Of course, this is not a viable solution, particularly considering the buyer had already paid for the item.
One of the biggest questions I have is why OfferUp needs to collect so much personal information from its users. While some basic information like name and address is understandable in order to facilitate payments, I don't understand why they need social security numbers as well. This seemed like a shady practice to me, particularly given the slow response times and poor customer service.
Overall, I have found OfferUp to be a useful tool for buying items locally, but my negative experiences with selling and collecting payments have left me frustrated and disheartened. I believe that their personal information practices are questionable at best, and their customer support leaves much to be desired. While I may continue to use the platform for buying, I will likely look elsewhere for selling in the future.
Navigating the Ups and Downs of OfferUp: An Honest Review
OfferUp is a great platform for those looking to sell their unwanted items or find hidden treasures for a bargain. However, there are a few downsides. One of the biggest issues is that some sellers don't answer messages or remove old products that have been sold, which creates frustration for buyers. Additionally, some sellers don't provide enough information about their items, such as dimensions or color, which can make the buying process difficult.
When looking for a specific item like a washer/dryer set, it can be frustrating to have to contact the seller every time to ask for details, like age or installation hardware. Sellers should make sure to provide all necessary information upfront to avoid any confusion or upset buyers. Furthermore, some sellers only list their items for sale without updates for months on end, leaving buyers unsure if the item is even still available.
Despite these downsides, there are still many positives to OfferUp. When a seller responds promptly and the item is still available, it can be a thrilling experience to make the purchase. As a buyer, it's important to be patient and not get too attached to an item until you've confirmed with the seller that it's still available. Additionally, it's important to exercise caution when buying items, particularly when a deal seems too good to be true.
For those looking to sell their items on OfferUp, it's important to provide as much information as possible, including dimensions, weight, color, materials, and photos of any flaws. This can help attract more potential buyers and make the buying process smoother.
Overall, OfferUp is a useful platform for those looking to buy or sell items, but it's important for both parties to be clear and communicative throughout the process. With patience and caution, it can be a great way to find bargains and clear out unwanted items from your home.
Maximizing OfferUp: Tips for Successful Buying and Selling
OfferUp is a great app for buying and selling items. I have been using it since July of 2018 and have written 535 reviews on the site. While some people may flake, there are ways to communicate your parameters to make the process much easier. For starters, it helps to post your item with the city and cross streets so that buyers can determine if it's too far for them or not. It's also important to make it clear that the sale is "first come, first serve" with "no holds" so that serious buyers will know that you are interested in making a sale with someone who is willing and able to pick up the item as soon as possible.
Additionally, it's helpful to include all of the most common questions that people typically ask about the item in the post. This helps to weed out a lot of the annoying questions that buyers might ask like the dimensions or condition of an item. The more detail you can provide, the fewer questions you will receive. Another way to avoid flakes is to never give out your address until someone is actually on their way to pick up the item. This way, you won't feel any anxiety about having given out your address to someone who may flake.
It's also important to communicate your boundaries in a kind way. If someone asks for your address before setting up a time to meet, gently remind them that the city and cross streets are already in the post and that you will provide the address when they are on their way. Always include a friendly ending, such as "thanks" or "have a great day" to avoid miscommunication. By being patient and kind with potential buyers, you can make the process smoother and more enjoyable for everyone involved.
Personally, I have found that referring to buyers as "friend" helps to create a positive and welcoming atmosphere. While there may still be people who ask a million questions or flake, using OfferUp can be a great way to get rid of unwanted items quickly and make some extra cash. With some simple tips and tricks, you can successfully buy and sell items on OfferUp while maintaining your sanity. Hopefully these tips will help you, too!
Stay Away from OfferUp: My Negative Experience with the App's Security and Customer Service
If you're considering using the OfferUp app for buying or selling items, take my advice and stay away from this app. I used to have over 300 sales with a 5-star rating, but after recent experiences with the app's unhelpful customer service and lack of security, I'm done with it.
One of the biggest changes that turned me off was the app's decision to start charging users for listings renewals and other services. I didn't mind this at first since I usually only sold cheap items, but when it came to high-end items, I preferred to use eBay since I felt more secure there.
What's worse is that I had a recent experience where a buyer threatened me and harassed me through the app. I contacted OfferUp's customer service several times for help and even made a police report, but no action was taken to protect me. In fact, they actually blocked me from the app after realizing I made the police report. This is unacceptable behavior from a supposedly reputable app.
I've had other negative experiences with OfferUp too. It used to be free to use, but now it's cluttered with fees and charges for every little thing. You can't even delete ads you posted two years ago, so your phone or computer will just keep getting cluttered. I've also encountered gang members and other unsavory characters on the app before, and OfferUp did nothing to help me in those situations either.
All in all, if you're looking for a safe, user-friendly app for buying or selling items, I highly recommend trying out LetGo instead. While they do charge fees too, they make it much easier to renew old ads for free, so you won't get bogged down with clutter. Plus, they take user security and police reports seriously, so you can feel safer using their app.
The worst part about OfferUp, though, is their lack of privacy protections. Since they started charging for services, they've gone off the rails with selling users' email addresses and other personal information to spammers. I signed up with a second email just to test this theory, and immediately received dozens of spam emails as soon as I started using OfferUp. It's absurd and infuriating to know that this app is selling out its users like this.
So, to sum it up, my advice is to walk (or run) away from OfferUp and try a different app for buying and selling items. LetGo is a much better alternative, with better security and more user-friendly features. Don't let OfferUp's greed and lack of concern for users harm your buying and selling experience.
My Disappointing Experience with OfferUp: Frustrating Shortcomings, Poor Leadership, and Insufficient Customer Service
OfferUp is an app that initially seemed like a great virtual Garage Sale, but after a few years of using it, I've come to find that it has several shortcomings that make it frustrating to use. Firstly, there are too many scammers on the app, and as a user, I'm constantly having to report suspicious accounts. Secondly, OfferUp's management/leadership appears to be poor as this app has several problems that could be avoided with effective leadership.
For example, one significant issue is that it lacks customer service. This is particularly frustrating when trying to log in, reset a password or communicate with the company. There are only limited ways to log in or to communicate with OfferUp, which can make it challenging to resolve issues, and there is no phone contact available. I had to change my phone number for personal reasons, and when I got a new phone, I was unable to reset my password. OfferUp kept trying to send notifications to my old phone number, and despite trying to reset my password multiple times, nothing worked.
Another issue that I noticed was that OfferUp's algorithm was not user-friendly. For instance, as soon as someone looks at a user's item, they receive a message from the seller, even when they have no real interest in the product. This can be very frustrating for both the seller and the buyer. Also, when I tried to get rid of some items by marking them as sold or archiving them, I continued to receive messages from potential buyers years later. This shows that OfferUp hasn't effectively removed items that are no longer available from the app.
Despite these issues, some may argue that it's just user error; however, I'm no computer whiz, but I've been around the block a few times and know how to use apps like this. I have researched OfferUp's FAQ site, and it wasn't helpful at all. Furthermore, I find it hard to believe that an app that has been around for so long has not encountered these issues before.
In conclusion, while OfferUp may appear to be an innovative app for online buying and selling, it is not without its faults. These shortcomings include poor management and leadership, lack of alternative ways to log in or contact the company, insufficient customer service, and the abundance of scammers. It is my opinion that OfferUp is not the best app for virtual buying and selling, and I would not recommend it to others.
OfferUp Complaints 16
Horrible management & execution
Where to start... well, here's the "I don't want to actually read this" synopsis...
It is my opinion that OfferUp has poor management/leadership, lacks customer service, lacks alternative ways to log in or to communicate with the company, and has too many scammers.
Here's the "Why"...
I started using this app a few years ago. Thought it was going to be a great way to have a virtual Garage Sell. It was not. In the end, I literally just gave up trying to sell anything because there was so many people who would message me about an item and wouldn't respond to my response. Later discovered that this was because as soon as someone even looked at anything I posted I'd end up getting a message (the reason I know this is because I had looked at something trying to figure out "what the world was that even a picture of?"... only to get a response from the seller asking me to negotiate a price--for something I had zero interest in once discerned). Not too long after this, OfferUp had some really crappy algorithm that would just start slamming me with notifications about items that belonged to the category of whatever it was I took a peek at. The notifications got so bad I literally stopped looking at them only later missing actual messages from real people. When I got frustrated enough to remove my items from being advertised as "For sale", I ended up receiving messages from locations I left a couple of years ago. This made me completely aware that they obviously have items posted that are actually no longer available. I tried changing the item's associated zip code, which didn't work, I had definitely changed my zip code... that didn't work. I marked them as "Sold"... for some reason that didn't work. I even archived them... yup... you guessed it... two years later received a message about an item I thought was long gone from the public's capability to view. Fast forward into the future... I had initially signed up directly with my phone. Logging in was automatic. Had to change my number for personal reasons. Here we are a few months after changing my number that my phone just completely dies. Ok... no problem. Ordered a new phone elsewhere... little did I know that with this company that IS a huge problem. I received an email answering a question I had asked someone before the phone disaster. So I click on the shortcut to see the original message... only to get a "Login" screen. No problem. Put in my email, then click forgot password. I get a "Reset Password" email sent to the same email. I go through the process to reset. Everything is looking hunky dory... then I attempt to log in. Nope. The app is trying to send a text message to the wrong phone number. Well, maybe I can try to log in using a browser. Yes... that is an option. Wait... trying to send to old number, still... Ok... let's try customer service. No phone contact available. Interesting. Well... here's a contact via e-mail. NOPE. Try to send a message via email, they want you to LOG IN... which continues the endless cycle of "Let's keep messaging your old number" going. Want to change your phone number... LOG IN. Want to delete your account... LOG IN! I've been trying to send a message without logging in... and SURPRISE... there's a "Server Issue"... but their servers are having NO problem showing me what people have posted for sale. Now I have a feeling that my account is going to end up in the hands of some scammer (which, BTW... this freaking app is riddled with... I've experienced less scammers via Craigslist). It is actually bad enough that it seems like their plan to find scammers is to have YOU report them.
Now some of you might think, "User error"... that's a fair assessment. I'm not a computer wizard who can hack away a computer program... but I've been around long enough and around enough people to know that my ability to utilize computers and programs exceeds the average person's. I'm also intelligent enough to know that things happen in life and there's absolutely no way that a company who has been around for more than a year hasn't encountered this before (which, BTW... I've looked into their FAQ site... which was also absolutely no help).
In conclusion... I stand by my opinion. Poor management, because half of this wouldn't have happened, otherwise (I've never worked for the company, so I can't attest an employee's experience would be like). Lacks in Customer Service... well... just try to call or email them. Lacks alternative ways to log in or to communicate with the company, as apparent by what happened with me. Finally, has too many scammers... which literally was found in EVERY search I performed and of which I was constantly tapping "Report" said accounts.
OfferUp Review: A Marketplace with Major Issues for Users
OfferUp is a marketplace that claims to be better than Craigslist, Ebay, or Facebook Marketplace, but in reality, it falls short. The platform has two major issues that make it difficult for users to utilize it properly.
Firstly, OfferUp makes it easy for fraudsters and scammers to use the site. This means that legitimate users are at risk of being scammed or defrauded. Secondly, OfferUp has an aggressive "ban" program that seems to have little validation. This means that even legitimate users can be banned from the site if they happen to run into one of the many bad actors on the platform.
The ban program is particularly frustrating for legitimate users who have done nothing wrong. If you are banned, it can be difficult to get back on the site. However, if you file a complaint with the BBB, OfferUp seems to have dedicated customer service agents who will review and resolve complaints. But is it worth it to continue using a platform that accuses you of being an unsavory client?
In my experience, I had an account for a few years and attempted to buy a product from a seller. The item was set up to ship, and I bought it at the listed price. However, the seller started asking me questions about how they were supposed to ship it. I pointed them to the OfferUp shipping FAQ's, and shortly after, the seller canceled my payment. I have no idea why my account was banned, and OfferUp provided no details.
Overall, OfferUp is not worth the hassle or aggravation. It's better to use Ebay or Facebook Marketplace, where there are fewer scammers and more transparent policies. If you do decide to use OfferUp, do so at your own risk and be prepared for the possibility of being banned without any validation or explanation.
OfferUp Review: Frustrating Experience with Deleted Account and Poor Customer Service
If you're looking for a platform to buy and sell items, you might want to think twice before using OfferUp. My experience with this site has been nothing but frustrating and disrespectful. For starters, they deleted my account without any explanation. When I tried to contact customer service to get some answers, I received no response at all. It's like they don't care about their users at all.
To make matters worse, I noticed that some people on OfferUp have hundreds or even thousands of followers and are following others, but they haven't sold or bought anything. How does that even work? It seems like there's something fishy going on with this site.
When my account was active, I did a lot of business, but I had some issues with people claiming they were coming to pick up free items from my house and then not showing up. This understandably frustrated me, and I may have said some things I shouldn't have. But the next thing I knew, my entire account was wiped out. It's like they didn't even bother to investigate or give me a warning.
To add insult to injury, OfferUp keeps sending me emails about how much money other people are making on their site and asking me where I've been. It's like they don't even realize they deleted my account! It's incredibly frustrating and disrespectful.
Overall, I would not recommend using OfferUp. They don't seem to care about their users, and their customer service is non-existent. If you're looking for a reliable platform to buy and sell items, you're better off looking elsewhere.

Frustrating Experience with OfferUp: Issues with Logging In, Deleted History, and Blocked Account
process.
I've been using OfferUp for several years now, and I've had some recent issues with the platform. I've been trying to sell some collectibles and other items to help cover my wife's medical expenses, but I ran into some trouble logging in on my PC. I was able to use the mobile app, but I couldn't access my account on my computer. I reached out to OfferUp for help, but it took a few days for them to respond. Eventually, I was able to log in on both my PC and my phone, but I noticed that all of my previous history had been deleted. This included my purchase and sale history, as well as the items I was currently selling.
I tried to contact OfferUp through email, but it took a while for them to get back to me. When they finally did, they told me that my items had been archived. This meant that they had been marked as sold, even though I hadn't actually sold them. This was frustrating, because it meant that I couldn't relist the items without reposting all of the pictures, descriptions, and prices.
I live in Miami Dade County, where many people speak Spanish. To try and reach a wider audience, I even translated my listings into Spanish. However, when I tried to sell a Nascar-type driving experience, OfferUp sent me an email saying that I had violated their policies by advertising a service. I tried to explain that it was just a Groupon-type item for sale, but before I could respond, they blocked my account.
I've been trying to get in touch with OfferUp's customer service, but it's been difficult. I've sent multiple emails to different departments, but it's taken a long time to get any kind of response. I even asked for upper management to contact me, but so far, no one has reached out. It's frustrating to think that I'm trying to make ends meet and cover my wife's medical expenses, but I can't do it because of issues with OfferUp.
I hope that someone at OfferUp will take the time to read my emails and understand the situation I'm in. My wife is going through a difficult time, and I'm trying to do everything I can to help her. It's disheartening to think that a platform that's supposed to help people buy and sell items could be so difficult to work with. I just want someone to show a little compassion and help me resolve these issues.
Mixed Experience with OfferUp: Great for Selling, Frustrating Policies and Support
I've been using OfferUp for quite some time now, and I must say, it's been a great experience overall. I've sold a lot of items on this platform, and most of my buyers have been satisfied with their purchases. However, there have been a few instances where I've had some trouble with the site's policies.
About a year ago, I listed a shirt for sale on OfferUp, and to my surprise, it was removed by the site's moderators. They claimed that the item was illegal or encouraged illegal activity, which I found quite strange. I tried to contact their customer support team to get some clarification, but all I got was a generic response that didn't really answer my question. I even tried emailing them multiple times, but to no avail. Eventually, I reposted the item, and it remained on the site without any issues.
Recently, I listed a car for sale on OfferUp, and once again, I ran into some trouble. This time, my entire account was deleted, along with all the items I had listed for sale. I was shocked and confused, as I had no idea what I had done wrong. I tried to contact their customer support team once again, but all I got was the same canned response that didn't really help me understand what had gone wrong.
To make matters worse, I kept receiving emails from OfferUp, urging me to shop and purchase from their site, even though I was no longer allowed to use their platform. It was frustrating and confusing, to say the least.
Overall, I think OfferUp is a great platform for buying and selling items, but their policies can be a bit confusing and frustrating at times. I wish they would be more transparent about what is and isn't allowed on their site, and provide better support for their users when issues arise. Despite these problems, I still think OfferUp is a great option for anyone looking to buy or sell items online.
OfferUp's Poor Customer Service Left Me Without Payment for Sold Item
Recently, I had a frustrating experience with OfferUp when I sold my laptop to a buyer on the East Coast. While they provided me with a shipping label, it unfortunately didn't scan when I went to the post office. Despite encountering difficulties, I remained committed to shipping the item that same day as promised, and ultimately decided to cover the cost myself - which I honestly didn't expect to be reimbursed for.
After the buyer received the laptop, I contacted OfferUp to inform them. Although I didn't have a tracking number to share, I confirmed that the buyer had indeed received the item and was happy with the purchase. I asked OfferUp to verify with the buyer that the transaction had gone well, so that I could receive the payment owed to me.
Unfortunately, OfferUp made no visible effort to pay me. While I acknowledge that I could have waited to obtain a different label from them, I had already shipped the item as promised and received confirmation of delivery. It's been over two weeks now and despite several attempts to contact them via email, OfferUp has yet to provide me with the money I'm owed.
It's disappointing to say the least, as I had always enjoyed using OfferUp in the past and prided myself on maintaining a 5 star rating as a frequent seller and buyer. Shipping with them was a complete pain, and getting the money owed to me has been a frustrating process that seems to be going nowhere. Even after sending three emails in the past two days, I have yet to receive a response.
At this point, I'm strongly considering taking legal action. While I fully understand that mistakes happen, and that customer service departments can become overwhelmed at times, OfferUp's lack of accountability and communication truly speaks volumes about the company's approach to doing business. I can't in good faith recommend them to anyone, and will be taking my business elsewhere from here on out.
Buyer Beware: My Terrible Experience with OfferUp Scam and Incompetent Customer Service
I recently had a terrible experience with OfferUp, a buying and selling app. Unfortunately, I was scammed for $650 and there seems to be no way for me to retrieve my money. The worst part is that OfferUp's customer service never seemed to care about my issue and took the side of the scammer rather than the victim, me. I would not recommend this app to anyone.
To make matters worse, it seems like my scammer was not a solitary incident- there have been over 40 fake accounts and scams like mine reported on the app dating back to April 2021. I have reported all of these fake accounts and scams to OfferUp but they haven't done anything to protect their users from these fraudulent activities. It's clear that they are not focused on taking these scammers down, to the detriment of unsuspecting buyers and sellers on the app.
Unfortunately, my experience is not isolated. Google reviews show that a lot of people have had similarly frustrating experiences with OfferUp, going as far back as 2018. Some have even gone as far as to sue them, but it doesn't seem like this has caused any improvements in their service. It's disappointing to know that a company that boasts millions of users and makes millions in profits would let these scams run rampant on their app, especially during a pandemic where many people are struggling financially.
If you're considering using OfferUp or its merged partner LetGo, be warned- you may fall prey to a scam like many others have. In fact, I don't think it's worth the risk at this point. Take your hard-earned money elsewhere and save yourself the hassle of dealing with this disappointing app.
OfferUp Review: Concerns and Risks of Using the Online Marketplace
Allow me to share my thoughts on OfferUp, a popular online marketplace for buying and selling items. As someone who has been involved in trading and selling various items, including vehicles, for many years, I have a few reservations about how OfferUp operates.
Firstly, they promote the idea of meeting others at agreed-upon locations, perhaps a parking lot or public space. While I understand the convenience of this option, I have always believed in seeing the seller's home or place of business to establish a sense of security and trust. Knowing where the item came from and meeting the seller in person can help prevent potential scams or fraudulent deals.
To me, it is highly questionable and risky to exchange money with a stranger in a public space without establishing any kind of relationship or trust beforehand. The fact that OfferUp tries to sell this as a great feature of their platform is concerning to me.
In fact, I had a negative experience myself when I sold a hockey jersey that was a rare and valuable item. After meeting the buyer in Long Beach, California, he not only took the jersey but also pushed me down and ran away. OfferUp's response was unhelpful and uncooperative, asking various questions that I couldn't answer. It was frustrating to have no recourse or backup from the platform after such a bad experience.
Additionally, OfferUp tries to promote some kind of "true you" program to verify users and prevent fraud, but I don't think it is foolproof or reliable. It's easy for people to lie or create fake profiles so that their true identity remains hidden.
One aspect of OfferUp that I disagree with is their claim that sharing personal information, such as phone numbers, could lead to identity theft or credit fraud. While I understand the risks involved with sharing sensitive information, I also believe that it's possible for users to exercise caution and take steps to protect themselves.
In conclusion, while OfferUp may seem like a convenient and easy-to-use platform for buyers and sellers, it comes with some risks and drawbacks that consumers should be aware of. Personally, I prefer dealing with people face-to-face and building relationships based on trust and transparency.
OfferUp Review: Lack of Support Leaves Customer Disappointed and Frustrated
I recently had an experience with OfferUp (offerup.com) that left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. I had set up a deal with someone to purchase a product and we had agreed on a price and even signed a contract. However, when the time came for delivery, the seller sold the item to someone else telling me they had received a better offer. As you can imagine, I was quite upset and reached out to OfferUp for help.
Unfortunately, I was unable to get ahold of anyone from their support team to speak with. This left me feeling like I had been let down not only by the seller, but also by the website itself. I couldn't help but feel like OfferUp was just as much to blame as the person who had sold the item. It's disappointing to realize that a website that is supposed to help connect buyers and sellers can't provide any assistance when something goes wrong.
In my opinion, I would advise others to be cautious when using OfferUp. While it may seem like a convenient way to buy and sell items, there isn't much support available if something goes wrong. It's better to sell your items in person so that you can avoid any potential issues.
Overall, my experience with OfferUp was frustrating and disheartening. I wish I had been able to receive the help I needed, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. If you're considering using OfferUp, make sure you're aware of the risks involved and be prepared to handle any issues that may arise.
OfferUp's Customer Service Falls Short: An In-Depth Review
OfferUp is an online marketplace that has garnered a lot of attention, but unfortunately, their customer service seems to fall short. Many customers have expressed frustration with their low level of support, which appears to be largely due to undereducated staff. It is evident that their support staff lacks insight or understanding on the issues that are being brought up by customers. Furthermore, the website is plagued with errors and glitches, with many people complaining about a script error in processing authentication that prevents them from accessing the site. Despite repeated complaints over a period of six months, many customers are left with no recourse as their cases have been closed without a resolution.
Adding insult to injury, OfferUp's customer service team seems to be largely unaware of the issues that are being reported. The standard response that customers tend to receive includes vague and dismissive statements like "We have no problems on our side" or "We're aware of the issue and are working to resolve it". Despite this lack of concern, the fact remains that these issues continue to plague the site and its users.
In conclusion, many people are increasingly dissatisfied with the quality of OfferUp's support services. This is especially true when a seller has cheated a buyer, as the company appears to be unwilling to help resolve such issues. It's clear that OfferUp is a flawed company that is poorly equipped to meet the needs of its customer base. If you're looking for an online marketplace that provides reliable support and a trustworthy platform, you may want to consider other options.
Buyer and Seller Beware: The Alarming Truth About OfferUp's Delivery System and Customer Service
OfferUp is an online marketplace that has gained increasing popularity as the go-to platform for individuals to buy and sell goods to others in their local community. However, there are some alarming issues that deserve attention.
One significant issue is with the delivery system, which is set up to provide tracking when the mail service scans the bar code. Unfortunately, when the bar code is not scannable, the mail service hand enters the number which often results in cancellation of the delivery without being refunded to the buyer or the seller. While this issue has been brought to the attention of managers in account services at OfferUp, it has not been fixed even months later. Moreover, OfferUp's customer service is highly automated, and you might just get run around until you give up.
The review writer personally experienced a loss of $500 spread out over several months, which was not paid by OfferUp. They made every effort to verify the problem and even checked with buyers to see if they were refunded. Unfortunately, they discovered that no one was refunded, indicating that OfferUp might be a scam that is stealing from many people.
Their attempts to resolve the matter were largely ignored by OfferUp's customer service. After being pushed to the edge, the writer sent a letter to OfferUp, threatening a class action lawsuit, reporting OfferUp to the complaintsboard.com and consumer affairs, and promised to write bad reviews on every single review site they could find. In response, OfferUp closed their account after almost 3,000 sales over six years. The writer continues to be blocked from communicating with OfferUp.
The writer believes that their experience is not an isolated incident and that OfferUp is stealing from many people. Individuals should approach OfferUp with caution and be wary of how the company handles transactions.
OfferUp Review: Pros and Cons of the Popular Online Marketplace for Buying and Selling
OfferUp is a popular online marketplace that allows users to buy and sell items. While there are some positive aspects to the site, such as its user-friendly interface and the ability to quickly snap pictures and upload items to sell, there are also a number of drawbacks.
One of the main issues with OfferUp is the fact that many potential buyers seem unwilling to commit to a purchase. Despite reaching out to up to 15 potential buyers, sellers often find that only one or two actually follow through with a sale. Even when buyers promise to show up and purchase an item, it's not uncommon for them to either flake out or attempt to lowball sellers with insulting offers.
This lack of commitment and follow-through by buyers can be extremely frustrating for sellers who are looking to get rid of unwanted items quickly and easily. In addition, many buyers seem to struggle with understanding some basic selling points, such as "price is firm."
While there are some competent buyers and sellers on OfferUp, there are also many horror stories circulating about difficult or downright unpleasant experiences. Some buyers are rude or demanding, while others live far away and insist on having items delivered or shipped.
On top of all these issues, it seems that OfferUp's customer service is virtually non-existent. With no one to turn to for help or guidance, it's easy to feel like you're on your own when using the site.
Given all of these problems, it's not surprising that many users are choosing to look elsewhere for their selling and buying needs. While OfferUp can be a convenient option in the right circumstances, it's a good idea to approach with caution and be aware of the potential pitfalls.
Craigslist: The No-Frills Platform for Buying and Selling Anything Online
If you're looking for a free, no-frills platform to buy or sell items online, then you may want to consider checking out Craigslist. With over 60 million users per month in the U.S. alone, Craigslist has become the go-to website for a lot of people. And the best part? There are no ads, so you can rest easy knowing that your browsing experience won't be interrupted by pesky pop-ups.
Sellers have total control over their postings, including the ability to change their asking price or remove a post entirely. You can also choose your preferred method of contact, whether it's phone, email, or text. And with the ability to filter your search results to see only "for sale by owner," you can bypass dealerships altogether.
While Craigslist is free for most users, it does charge for certain types of posts, like job and apartment listings. But when it comes down to it, the benefits of using Craigslist far outweigh any costs. You can sell items quickly, like a car within 10 hours of posting, and find great renters for your property.
One word of advice - always assume that only half of the responders will actually show up, so it's important to prioritize cash-in-hand and never agree to hold anything. But overall, Craigslist is a reliable and easy-to-use platform that has withstood the test of time. So if you're on the hunt for a new couch or trying to get rid of some old junk, give Craigslist a try!
Mixed Experience: My Review of OfferUp's Online Marketplace
I recently used OfferUp, an online marketplace for buying and selling items, and had a mixed experience. While I appreciate the convenience and ease of use of the platform, I also had some serious concerns about the way the company operates.
One issue I encountered was that my ads were removed without explanation, while others selling similar items were allowed to stay up. When I contacted the company to ask about this, I was met with silence and no resolution. In fact, when I continued to press the matter, I was eventually banned from the site altogether.
Another problem I had with OfferUp was the lack of consistency in how they enforce their rules. I noticed multiple listings for items that seemed to be in violation of the terms of service, yet they were not taken down. When I reported these listings, I heard nothing back from the company.
One of my biggest concerns, however, was the lack of attention paid to user safety. There are no real measures in place to protect buyers and sellers from scams or dangerous encounters. While I was lucky to never experience anything like this, I worry that others might not be so fortunate.
All in all, I would say that while OfferUp has its benefits, it is also a company that prioritizes profit over everything else. If you decide to use the platform, be aware of the risks and take precautions to protect yourself.
OfferUp's Lack of Responsibility in Fraud Incident Causes Heartbreak for Mother and Son
My heart breaks for this poor mother and her son who put their trust in OfferUp, a popular online marketplace for buying and selling goods. Her son, who recently turned 18 and worked hard to save up for a phone, was taken advantage of by a seller who requested payment through Cash App only. Unfortunately, the son was not aware that this method of payment was not trusted on the OfferUp site. The seller disappeared with the $250, leaving the son and his mother devastated.
As any caring mother would, she immediately contacted OfferUp for assistance in resolving the issue. However, she was informed that since her son had gone through Cash App, they were unable to help recover the lost funds. This seemed unfair to the family since the seller's IP address and social security number were on file with both OfferUp and Cash App, yet no one did anything to follow up or take action.
The mother was left with no choice but to file a police report and press charges against the seller. This created an unnecessary burden for the family, especially considering that they trusted OfferUp as a reputable marketplace prior to this incident. It was only later, when they checked the same information on OfferUp, that they reported it to the company. Upon making contact with the seller again, he seemed to have noticed their last name from the Cash App and stopped responding.
The mother now pleads with OfferUp to take ownership of this problem, prosecute the seller, give her son his money back, and take action against future instances of criminal activity. She is rightfully frustrated that such a reputable company would allow a crook to take advantage of an unsuspecting customer in such an egregious way.
In conclusion, this review highlights the importance of being cautious when purchasing items online, especially from individuals who request direct payment off the platform. It also emphasizes the need for companies like OfferUp to take more responsibility for the safety of their customers and to promptly and efficiently respond to cases of fraud or criminal activity on their platform.
About OfferUp
One of the most significant advantages of OfferUp is its simplicity. Sellers can snap a photo of an item, write a brief description, and post it within minutes. Buyers can easily browse through the listings, filter results by location and category, and contact the sellers directly through the platform's built-in messaging system. Unlike other online marketplaces, OfferUp does not charge any fees or commission on sales, which makes it an excellent option for both buyers and sellers.
In addition to its user-friendly interface, OfferUp's safety features are also impressive. The platform offers numerous tools and resources to help users stay safe and secure during transactions. For example, users can quickly check a seller's rating and read reviews from previous buyers. OfferUp also has a secure payment system that allows buyers to pay through the platform using their credit or debit cards.
OfferUp is not just another online marketplace. The platform has a strong network of buyers and sellers across the country, which means users can find some fantastic deals on items they need. Whether you're looking to sell an old piece of furniture, donate some clothes, or find a new piece of tech at a discounted price, you can easily find what you're looking for on OfferUp.
In conclusion, OfferUp is an excellent platform for anyone looking to buy or sell items locally. Its simple and intuitive interface, combined with its powerful safety features, make it a favorite choice among buyers and sellers alike. Whether you're looking to make a quick sale or score a great deal, OfferUp is definitely worth checking out.
