My son has had the MP3 for not even 2 months. He told me that he pressed the on button and goes on but none of the songs show up. When he plugs it into the computer it doesn't show the file that all the songs are in. I didn't keep the receipt because I didn't think that it would be this bad. I am very mad and so is my son.

Okay this is a piece of crap. But most of you can recover your device.

If you are running Windows XP you will need to go to start - run - diskmgmt.msc. This will bring up your hard driver, cd rom, and tru tech device. Plug the tru tech in and refresh diskmgmt.msc.

For me it too quite a while to be seen by the computer - maybe 3 mins. Next right click on the trutech device in the diskmgmt.msc window and chose format. (note I said RIGHT click and not left click)

It will say formatting and take a few minutes.

Now it should be ready to have songs copied to it again so you can start over.

This is how I recovered from the "flash error please backup the data and format the player error", but it works for most errors.

PS. You will lose your songs, but this way, you can start over.

I bought my Trutech MP3 player about three months ago, and I 've been satisfied with it. Recently, however, it turns on and flashes "MP3 Player" and won't do anything else! I have a new battery in it and everything. Why is this happening? Is there an easy fix? I'm hesitant to create an account with "JustAnswer" because I don't know anything about that company. I would really just like to know why the thing works for a few months and then goes to crap?!

I purchased the T512 a few year ago. I loaded the music and podcasts onto it. I bought an iPod shortly thereafter and put this in a drawer. I took it out and find that I cannot delete any files from it. I have had other difficulties with it but this is the worst.
