Talbots - Customer service

I would like to report a customer service complaint I experienced in the Talbots at the Huntington Mall in Huntington, West Virginia on October 3 (Saturday) approximately 3 pm

My mother likes your clothing and shops there frequently. I live in Ohio and was visiting her when she asked me to take her to Talbots. My mother suffers from vascular dementia and we try to encourage socialization and participating in normal activities in order to, hopefully, slow her progression. It is unfortunately obvious to others that she is confused.

My mother tried a sweater on and when she came out she was confused as to why the style went to the hip and not in the front. I was trying to explain to her why and Susan the sales person said "it's called asymmetrical I know that's a big word for you". I was shocked. She then proceeded to roll her eyes at myself and my mother while I was helping my mother remove a necklace she tried on and it was caught on her wig. Susan said, "that's not one sale." I said I don't care, if she wants it I can buy it for her. My mother said she did not want the necklace. My mother wanted a pair of pants and said let me check if I have enough money before I go to the counter and the woman makes fun of me. I said I would purchase them. My mother said, "good because she isn't nice." I asked Susan where to hang up the sweater my mother didn't want to purchase she said to me, "well when there's only one left you won't know where to put it does that make sense to you.." She did not thank us for the purchase. It was evident she was completely put out by having to wait on us.

I am a family nurse practitioner and I take care of patients that are homeless, LGBTQ, HIV positive, COVID positive, elderly as well as normal functioning patients. I treat EACH and EVERY patient with respect and dignity as well as kindness. I am appalled at the lack of compassion and regard the sales person Susan has. (I know it is her name because it was on our receipt. She wasn't wearing a name tag.) She is in a customer service industry position. She truly should be working by herself in a cubicle. I only hope that one day she is treated as unkindly as she treated us. Maybe then she will remember how she treated others. I have shared this experience with my father and have discouraged him from letting her shop there again. I am truly saddened that another human being could be so cruel as to treat someone with an obvious disability so horribly. She has an account with you, her name is Lois Hartley. She lives at 4 Ledgewood Drive Huntington West Virginia

I will discourage her as well to not shop your location. I will drive her to Columbus where I live if she insists on shopping at Talbots

Desired outcome: I expect you to share this with your sales associate. I would hope she would be terminated for her discriminatory behavior
