Acadian Ambulance Service Could have cared less

It’s taken me a while to write this review. I was shocked by the level of care my husband received and as a 33 year retire paramedic I was shocked!

My husband and I had covid in 2021, husband had rapid onset facial drooping, slurred speech and arm drift. You get where I’m going here.

FD arrived first followed by ambulance. No one wanted to get too close to my husband. I advised them of what was going on with him and signs that I noticed. I went to another room thinking I have COVID, they will pick up on what I told them and things will be fine. My mistake was having faith in the fact that they knew what they were doing.

Told them where to transport and we are 20-25 minutes away driving normal traffic. Took them 38 minutes to get there.

All I can say is thank God, I still have friends in the EMS field who met them at the hospital.

By the time they arrived my husband was leaning to the side of the stroke, vomiting, and had some alter mental status. Not sure what they told the nurse they gave report to, but they obviously didn’t recognize he was stroking, because she put them in the hallway. Had my friend not been there he would have died in the hallway. Thankfully, the charge nurse listened; he was taken straight to CT scan and a very large ischemic stroke was found!

Acadian, please do better! We have no other choice but you in our town. Maybe some classes in stroke recognition and management for your employees. Also, when you bring crews in from other areas to post, make sure they know that area and take the best route to the hospital. 38 minute transport with an active stoke going on is unacceptable. Time counts. The pic I posted is my husbands brain after his stroke.

Recommendation: If you have another option, use it.

Acadian Ambulance Service Falsly charged for services that was not rendered; and discarded a refusal of service letter

Falsly charged for services that was not rendered; and discarded a refusal of service letter.

I had a bad experience with Acadian Ambulance Service. They charged me for services that they didn't even provide. It's not fair to pay for something that I didn't receive, you know? And to make matters worse, they completely ignored my refusal of service letter. I mean, come on! If I don't want their service, they should respect that. It's just plain rude to disregard my request like that.

Overall, I'm really disappointed with Acadian Ambulance Service. They need to improve their customer service and make sure they're not charging people for services they didn't get. It's just not right.

Acadian Ambulance Service My insurance paid my claim, so I thought I was in the clear

My insurance paid my claim, so I thought I was in the clear. But then Acadian Ambulance hit me with a bill for $950, claiming it was a discount that wasn't covered. What a scam! I shouldn't have to fork over any extra cash when my insurance already took care of it and I didn't owe a dime because my deductible was met. No other ambulance company pulls this kind of stunt.

Acadian Ambulance Service I had to use Acadian Ambulance Service to transfer my son from one ER to another for surgery

I had to use Acadian Ambulance Service to transfer my son from one ER to another for surgery. The bill came to $1951.00, and our insurance, Ambetter, paid $528.71. We reached our maximum out-of-pocket limit, but Acadian is still trying to balance bill us for the remaining balance of $1423.00. My insurance told me that Acadian shouldn't be balance billing us, but Acadian is insisting that I pay or they'll send it to collections. I really need some assistance with this situation.

Acadian Ambulance Service On June 1, me and my wife had a motorcycle accident

On June 1, me and my wife had a motorcycle accident. Acadian ambulance took us in one ambulance, but they didn't do anything for me and they didn't ask for insurance. When I got the bill, I called them and gave them the right insurance info, and the insurance paid. I paid this account for two years. The EOB from *** is here. I never got a notice about this account and the company didn't send me a copy of the first bill. They need to take this off my credit report right away.

Acadian Ambulance Service I got charged $1,934.58 for "services" even though I had insurance

I got charged $1,934.58 for "services" even though I had insurance. They took me to the hospital in just 12 minutes and didn't even give me an IV or any drugs. It's not fair. Around October or November , I called for an ambulance because my stomach was hurting really bad. When the ambulance got to my house, a lady from Acadian Ambulance Services met me at the front door. I walked to the back of the ambulance by myself. They didn't put me on a stretcher or give me an IV or anything like that. They didn't even turn on the siren lights. The drive to Memorial Hermann Southeast on Astoria Drive in Houston, TX was bumpy and took 12 minutes. My house is on ***, Pasadena, Texas, 77502. I had insurance with UHC, so I don't understand why they're charging me extra. Now they sent the charges to ***, Attorney at Law, LLC, Account # ***, and I have 30 days to respond or they'll take more action, like taking money from my wages. This is not right - please help me.

Acadian Ambulance Service On 01/25/22 at 1224, I got a call saying my daughter had been in an accident on Lee St

On 01/25/22 at 1224, I got a call saying my daughter had been in an accident on Lee St. & Mall Dr. in Alexandria. I rushed to the scene, which was only 1.5 miles away. When I arrived, I saw my daughter's 2012 White Ford, and she couldn't move her right hand and had a gash on her forehead. The other driver didn't seem to have any visible injuries. Surprisingly, there was no ambulance present, so I asked the firefighters where it was. They told me they had called for one. After some time, Acadiana Ambulance #263 Plate#Z065991 finally arrived. The driver seemed to be in a good mood, laughing and chatting with others at the scene. I found this unprofessional because a car accident is not something to joke about. The driver then told one of the firefighters that they would take the other driver first, referring to the person in the blue car who caused the accident. I couldn't believe that, even after all this time, only one ambulance had shown up for a two-car accident. I asked the ambulance driver why they were taking the other driver first when my daughter had an obvious head injury. In a very aggressive and loud voice, he replied that he was the one who decided who goes first based on triage. I then asked him when the other ambulance would arrive to take care of my daughter. He ignored my question, turned away, and walked over to an Alexandria Police Officer who was a few feet away and hadn't witnessed our conversation. The ambulance driver pointed at me and told the officer that I was causing problems and needed to leave. The officer approached me and said I could either go stand by the ambulance and be quiet or he would arrest me or make me leave. I told him all I did was ask a question, but I agreed to stand by the ambulance. The ambulance driver had lied to the officer to make it seem like I was causing trouble. I want to mention that I am a retired federal agent with 31 years of service in various agencies, and I am also a veteran. I have never been arrested or caused any trouble. At one point in my career, I was a certified Medical First Responder and a Medic for a Federal Tactical Team.

Acadian Ambulance Service I gave them my medical insurance info

I gave them my medical insurance info. Told them to file the claim. They didn't file a claim. I wanted Acadian Ambulance people to file a claim for my transportation after an accident to my insurance company. They didn't file a claim and waited till it was too late to file a claim. I received a letter from Acadian ambulance 6 months later saying insurance denied the claim. I have Louisiana Medicaid insurance. What Acadian said about denial was not true, because I called Medicaid and they told me it was definitely no record of my EMS transportation on the day of accident, the only claim they had was hospital's. Medicaid said they would had surely paid the claim if it was filed on time. Actually, I did call the Acadian ambulance before it was too late to make sure they have my insurance information. The lady on the phone said it should be taken care of. Back to Medicaid, they told me because it was the ambulance company's fault I should not worry about the bill. Later I talked on the phone with Medicaid and Acadian again and they said the bill is not my responsibility anymore. But now after almost 2 year after the accident I received a collection agency's letter sent by Acadian. I feel they miss-conducted the issue. I did everything I could to make it right. I stayed on the phone with both sides-insurance and EMS for hours and hours. Provided my insurance information to Acadian at least 3 times. Acadian conducted their business very unprofessional. I didn't even know the bill wasn't paid for months. They lied on the letter saying my insurance denied the claim, but they didn't even contact them. I arranged negotiations between Medicaid and them. Medicaid explain the rules that the Acadian didn't file on time, in this case the patient is not responsible for a bill. And now on my birthday after years they stuck me with this outrageous bill from collectors. What if it damages my credit. I have a great credit score because I pay all my bills on time and this dumb thing my hurt my credit. I don't like to owe money, but I think this is very unfair. I have insurance, that could had paid. This is very hard times. So upsetting! We struggling with providing for our family and this is very unfair depressing surprise fromAcadia without warning.

Acadian Ambulance Service This EMS service, Acadian Ambulance, does some shady stuff when it comes to billing patients in Louisiana

This EMS service, Acadian Ambulance, does some shady stuff when it comes to billing patients in Louisiana. They do this thing called balance billing and dual billing, which is actually against the law according to LA R.S. 22:1874. So, on 6/13, I got into a car accident and had to take an ambulance to a nearby hospital that was in my insurance network. But Acadian tried to charge me extra money, saying that they're not in my network and I owe them $1031.31 on top of the $619.25 that my insurance already paid. So, they want a total of $1650.56 from me. They didn't even tell me about this balance billing thing when I was at Slidell Memorial Hospital. When I asked them to tell my insurance about the extra charges, since my insurance already covered everything, the Acadian person interrupted me and said I have to pay it all. I told them I'm gonna talk to my insurance again to confirm the charges. According to my insurance policy, they cover both in-network and out-of-network ambulance services if it's medically necessary, but Acadian messed it up by not reporting the charges correctly. That's against the law, by the way, LA R.S. 22:1874. They also didn't give me enough notice about this balance billing thing, which is also illegal under LA R.S. 22:1880. Basically, Acadian takes advantage of people in emergencies by not telling them or their insurance companies how much they're gonna charge. They say they don't have to follow the rules because they don't have contracts with hospitals and insurance companies anymore. Oh, and get this, they sent me a bill thanking me for choosing them, even though I actually wanted to take a Lyft to the hospital instead of their ambulance. The cops and emergency people were pressuring me to take the ambulance, but I knew better because I know the EMS industry is messed up. People don't trust ambulance companies to provide good service when they have insurance. So, this complaint is about my account number 4532027 with Acadian.
