won't spin and drain correctly!
Do not buy this machine! I paid good money for this machine and with in the year we have nothing but problems. First of all it "walks" all over the place. But we fixed that by putting a 1 in thick rubber mat underneath the machine. It also doesn't spin all of the way so I have to keep resetting it on to "extended spin". This may take SEVERAL times especially on towels, jeans, sweatshirts etc. Sometime taking several hours to do one load! When the repair man came out I was told that my house wasn't built correctly and I should have my husband reinforce the floors underneath the house. I didn't realize the serviceman was an expert contractor also. My house is only 8 years old and I am confident that it was built properly and easily passed inspection. The serviceman kept making excuses, I never had any type of problem like this with my old washer and dryer. This is so ridiculous! Energy efficient my a--! Maybe saves some water but cerftainly not on electricity! ( We were also told not to use the drawers underneath it either. They may also cause instability. You know those drawers that are $200.00 a piece.) I will never buy another Maytag of any kind!
maytag's customer service is awful!
I am now 3 weeks without use of my Maytag dishwasher because it has been recalled for starting house fires. It seems that there is a breach in the rinse agent something or other, and the liquid was leaking onto wires. You know, the whole electrical/liquid thing? Not good.
So, I called the day that I got my recall notice in a Consumer Reports email. I was told on 3/2/07 that my repair parts would arrive within one week. Then I should schedule the repair with a local dealer.
At the end of week two, I called again, and I couldn’t get through to a live person for 5 minutes because I was forced through their automated reporting service again. Of course at the end of this time, I was steaming and further frustrated because this call happens to be on a Saturday, 3/17/07, and Maytag didn’t bother to staff up their dishwasher recall line on the weekend, despite the fact that this dishwasher recall affects 2 million+ customers.
I had sent a couple emails to Maytag over the previous week asking where my parts are, and nobody on email customer service had any idea. So I emailed again expressing my displeasure with this situation and requesting a phone call back. The return call came on Tuesday, 3/20/07, 18 days after being told that my parts would arrive within one week, and I was told that the parts are back-ordered.
On 3/23/07, I called the dishwasher repair line again. Sharon took all my info and said that I wasn’t in their system despite calling and reporting this problem twice. She said there has been no parts back-order, and she expedited shipping of the parts to me.
So, Maytag has been lying to me for 3 weeks and somehow they lost my repair record in their system despite confirming it by mail 2 weeks ago. I am at the 3-week mark, starting week four tomorrow, washing dishes by hand and frustrated as all hell at Maytag. I didn’t make the decision to put shoddy parts in my dishwasher when it was assembled. So, I am waiting as fast as I can, my frustration slowly burning.
Maytag’s customer service is awful, and their repair man is no longer lonely.
Maytag is now owned by Whirlpool! Wirlpool sucks. Maytag use to be great. It's a lie that Whirlpool is still claiming these products as Maytags!
I'm a single mom, after 10 years my Maytag dishwasher racks were rusted out and the tines all missing, but the thing still washed beautifully. I called to see if I could just purchast new racks. Indeed I could and with a discount since I would be buying both racks, it would be only $300! Yippee! SO, I went to purchase a new dishwasher for $450 and with rebates, it was down to $400. Being single and no job at the moment, I decided I could uninstall old one and re-install new one, giving them my old one to haul off. I installed it fine, it didn't fill with water... I let it go for a couple weeks because I just moved and I figured I must have done something wrong and felt it might take me awhile again to undo everything. SO, when I finally had some time, I did, and everything appeared to be installed properly. Still didn't fill with water. SO I called them and they set up an appliance repair man to come out. He finally did and after 30 minutes or more of trouble shooting said it's the appliance, and he'd order parts and come back out when the parts got in.
I got the appliance on 9/28/10 to my house, it was now 10/19! I called Home Depot where I bought it and they said they would just deliver me a new one on Thursday, but I would have to uninstall the lemon and reinstall the new one again. I called Maytag/Whirlpool and asked them if they would please do the installation free of charge so I don't have to go thru this again. She talked to her supervisor and came back with : "We don't do that." I said, " Oh, you send out lemons that don't work, but you won't install to make sure it's not a lemon this time?" She said." Mam, you chose to install it yourself! All our dishwasher aren't lemons" I said, " Well if you didn't send out lemons, I wouldn't be on the phone to you right now! I think you owe it to your company to do this installation! If they aren't all lemons, it shouldn't be a problem." But she said no again. SO here I am, I am telling you there is NO such thing as customer service with these guys. They dont' care about their name, they aren't Maytag, they just as soon sell their whirlpools I guess! I wont be buying either and I'm debating if I should go back down there and see what else I can buy instead. THis really sucks! If I go through with installing this next one, and it's a lemon, I'm going to be spit fire mad!
We bought a new, very top-of-the-line Maytag dishwasher in April of 2003. Nothing but problems since. Maytag (and now owner Whirlpool) REFUSE to replace this lemon. And, please, stop sending out stinkly repairmen who are smokers! Ugh! They smell like death and stink up my home!
No more Maytag, Whirlpool, Jenn Air, KitchenAid or any other Whirlpool-owned products. NEVER AGAIN!
Maytag Washer customer service is no better. I have been without a washing machine for 4 weeks and my recalled part has yet to arrive. They did finally answer (a human) and assure me that they would re-send the part, which will take another week to arrive. Do NOT by anything Maytag. The think the Maytag man as fleed the country.
My recall experience was not exactly the same as those previously reported and the final result was excellent, but took time to get it done.
Thank you MAYTAG for your help.
I called the recall number, they verified my model number and provided a list of local recall repair providers. I selected the closest one and called them. I had to leave a message and eventually they called back. I was told I needed to produce the receipt to have the recall service performed. I again called the recall 800 number, but even after waiting over 30 minutes I was unable to get a "live" person. I hung up and looked up a general contact number from maytag.com and got a real person
within 2 or 3 minutes. I described my problem to this person, they looked up my serial number and said I didn't need my receipt. They ordered the recall repair kit and told me to contact a service facility when it arrived. I'm not sure how long it took, possibly 2 or 3 weeks. I did not call the same service facility. I selected one I was familiar with that was not as close.
THEY did not give me any BS, were very polite and performed the recall service the same week! It consisted of completely replacing the door with everything inside of it, plus a complete wiring harness and door gasket. It has worked perfectly ever since and I am completely satisfied with the final results.
I do think Maytag had a problem with their Recall 800 number.
Apparently it was unable to process the volume of calls they were constantly receiving and I'm sure they have learned from this oversight.
We bought a MDBH975AWB dishwasher August 2006 and it has been broken more than fixed. The last break was November 23 and am still waiting on the part to come in and the dishwasher to be fixed. Again, I will not have a dishwasher for all of our Christmas company. I actually have used the dishwasher less time than I've been able to use it. Supposedly the panel keeps going out (3 times now). The contract repair person is giving us the run around as well as directly called Maytag. This is my first and LAST MAYTAG PRODUCT! I will never own another Maytag. They are useless as well as the people who stand behind them.
We had the recall performed, then shortly there after the dishwasher quit working. After several weeks of attempting to get Mr. Appliance, the “authorized repair company”, to come out and look at the dishwasher, according to the same people who did the recall work the new defect is “not related”. We tried dealing with Maytag and Whirlpool and got nothing but a run around. Today we called Jessica Belmontes @ [protected] in the Maytag Executive Offices, once again we got nothing but a run around, absolutely NO help. My message to anyone who will listen is avoid Whirlpool / Maytag like the plague. They should be forced to take their Maytag repair commercial off the air.
I will never in my life buy a Maytag again! The customer service is despicable if not criminal. They think they can get off the hook by telling us to "just not use the dishwasher". Well, I did not spend hundreds of dollars to wash my dishes by hand! Furthermore it's been proven that you cannot get the water hot enough (without a dishwasher) to get your dishes clean enough to eat off safely. Most cases of the flu are not flu at all but illness from eating from unclean plates. When I spoke to a supervisor at Maytag she could not care less that I can't use my other kitchen appliances if I turn off the circuit breaker so now I won't sleep nights worrying my house will catch on fire in my sleep! She said it would be approximately 3-4 weeks to get it fixed or I could have a $75. voucher to buy a new one. When was the last time you saw a brand new dishwasher for $75.00! If anyone out there is interested in joining me in a class action suit against Maytag, please e-mail me at kllooolis@aol.com.
I will never buy another Maytag product. I have a three year old dishwasher that has been plagued with problems since I bought it. I am also having trouble with my Maytag washin machine , trying to find a reliable service man is a joke , the Maytag Service Repairman is definitiely a myth. It is too bad that Maytag was fallen so far in quality and service. I was once a loyal buyer - no more!
Forget about the Maytag repairman, he is only an illusion. Now the next illusory item brought forth by the think-tanks and powers that be which rule Maytag (Whirlpool) is the management and organization of its DISHWASHER RECALL campaign. Just as false as the Maytag repairman, but not nearly as nostalgic, this once glorious company whose products have once meant quality are now littering the unsuspecting public with appliances that pose severe fire hazards in the households which they are kept and frequently used. The new grand fictional scheme offered up by Mayt...er, Whirlpool are the supervisors who are at this present time handling the recall claims of these hazardous appliances. Whirlpool has outsourced this recall agents/supervisors/escalation team to call centers throughout the country. One of these such places is West Corporation, a call center that places people with only three days of training directly on to the phones in order to fool the public into believing they are the Recall escalation supervisors. First of all this is quite far from being a supervisory position because the only thing they are supervising are the PC monitors with carefully phrased scripting. Now talk about fictitious!
Same story. It's been six weeks, three emails, and a phone call and I still don't have the required part to repair the recall issue. None of the contacted people have any knowledge of how to resolve the issue or who I should contact to help.
This company has expressed absolutely no regrets about the defective dishwasher or the inconvenience of simply not using it (or having my home and family endangered by the thing).
Yup, I, too am frustrated and will avoid Maytag products in the future.
recall and details replacement problems!
The dishwasher was listed on a recall, I called in as I had already had two fire from my Maytag side by side frig, I had to replace a five year old $1200 appliance. The parts were shipped and a serviceman came out on the 20th of Feb. Appt was to be between 8 and 12, he arrived at 2:30, at five he says he has to go out to truck and will be right back in, 15 min. later he came in and said that there was something else wrong and Maytag would have to come and fix it, said earliest would be 27th. I heard nothing from anyone, so the 23rd I called and was told that someone would be here the 27th between 8 and 12. At 1 P.M. on the 27th I called and was told I was the last call and it would be about 4:30. I was furious as I do day care and I had to rearrange my schedule but this put having a repair man in my kitchen as I fed the kids snacks and fixed dinner. This also would be running in to pick up time. At three the man called and asked if I had the part, I knew nothing of a needed part, I was told loose wires, he didn't explain himself just hung up. I called A and E and was told that the part? had never been ordered and I would have to wait. For an hour I was shuffled back and forth with no answer, today a service rep. called and said to call and schedule after I got the part. I told her this was unacceptable as I had a problem with my leg that I cannot stand and do dishes three times a day for an indefinite period, got no response. I called Whirlpool, now I have the choice of paying someone and seeking legal recourse, or letting this badly run company back in my house.
Maytag Dishwasher Model MDB9100AWW
Purchased 7 years ago, recommended top 5 dishwashers by Canadian Consumer Report for cleaning ability, dollar value etc. The reason it got such good ratings for cleaning is because it has a very low volume capacity for dishes to the point of almost ridiculous. Two of us fill it daily! Today I'm shopping for a new dishwasher (7 yrs. later) because the lower rack needs replacing due to the coating peeling off ($150.00) and the electronic panel is fried ($150.00+) and the unit no longer works.
I "used" to be a Maytag fan.
I have had the same abysmal lack of service from Maytag and my local service company. The recall was performed Feb. 20, but following installation of the recall kit - service technician was unable to restart my dishwasher. He promised, and indeed supposedly ordered while still in my home, a new motor; motor was to be sent to me and installed at no cost when I rescheduled service. You might guess I have received no motor, no one at the local company knows anything about this situation, no one at Maytag knows about this situation; furthermore, neither company (General Service Co. of San Antonio, TX, or Maytag) seems to care one iota. I have been without a dishwasher for well over one month with absolutely no hope that this will be straightened out by Maytag. In fact, after dozens of calls and a detailed chart of my chronology which I sent certified mail to Maytag's Customer Service address in Cleveland, TN, I get angrier and angrier; the situation gets murkier and murkier. To add insult to injury, I received a few days ago, another recall repair kit by FedEx... not the part I need. When my certified mail to Maytag apparently elicited a phone call from someone (Amanda) yesterday, she informed me that General Service Co. did not have any record of servicing my house. DUH. That is the problem. I have an installed recall part in my dishwasher - which I did not order nor install by myself! And yet, my dishwasher is not working. All I want is for my dishwasher to work as it did before it was serviced! I will NEVER buy another Maytag product of any kind ever, ever, ever, ever, ever. And I will advise everyone I know to do the same. At this point, I feel there is no recourse but to tear this out and get another machine. But I am not happy about it!
Beware of this recall and stay away from Whirlpool-Maytag.
I will never buy a Maytag (Whirlpool or any of its associated brand names) again.
The repairmen came five times to my house. On the first visit, they had no idea what to do with the recall parts. They asked to take them and the instructions back to the shop to study. They returned and took an hour and a half to install the recall "fix" and in the process blew the previously functioning dishwasher's switches because they wired it incorrectly.
It is almost two months and I still don't have a functioning dishwasher.
I made about a dozen phone calls to Maytag; sent letters to Whirlpool Corporation (without a hint of a reply). I have had five visits from Maytag repairmen (and they claim in their ads that he never has to go out), and I'm still washing dishes by hand. I wouldn't let the original repairmen back in my home, and asked for a new repairman (who is still hampered by Maytag's "backordered" part). Since mid-February Maytag has been telling me that the part had to be backordered.
How can a major corporation not have parts or quick access to parts to repair its own products? Why should a consumer pay for appliances that are defectively designed or don't function at all? From the negative complaints about Maytag-Whirlpool that I'm seeing on the internet and in the media, the Maytag repairman won't be coming out often, as there won't be that many of their products out there to repair. Her certainly won't be coming to my house.
Stay clear of Whirlpool--a lot of junk appliances made in Mexico.
I have a Matag dishwasher that has been recalled. It has been found that it will catch on fire if you have used a liquid rinse agent. I followed their instructions to a T and I am still washing my dishes by hand many weeks later. I cannot use the dishwasher for fear that it will burn my house down, the parts to solve the problem are on backorder and who knows when they will be in, and the final solution is a $75 voucher for another "piece of Maytag (Whirlpool) junk" which might cost me as much as $500. A word to the wise, Stay away from Maytag, Whirlpool, Amana, Kitchen Aide! They could care less that I bought a product in good faith and I cannot use it. I am stuck. Garbage, just Garbage!
multiple product defects!
We bought a Maytag Performa a few years ago, maybe 5. For a couple of years now it has continually gone off balance and strangely it does not shut itself off like the other washers we have had in the past. Bang, bang, bang until you get to the washer. The last straw was Saturday night when the water fill switch did not shut off. That’s what we are guessing it was because my husband put clothes in the dryer and started the washer. (I was at a baby shower.) He went back before the dryer had completely cycled to pull clothes out and found water everywhere. Water was coming out the top of the machine. It flooded the bathroom on one side of the laundry room and the closet on the other side of the laundry room. The water flooded about ten feet down the hallway and we haven’t been able to see how much of the bedroom yet because we haven’t been able to get the book cases out to check under them yet. We borrowed a neighbor’s 16 gallon wet vac and it took multiple fills to try to get all the water up off the floors and out of the carpets. We had to pull back the carpet in the hallway to dry it and the pad out. After having a high powered fan on the closet carpet overnight the carpet and the pad had to be taken off the floor and put outside in the cold January temps to try to dry. They were dripping as we carried them outside on Sunday. We don’t think they are salvageable.
The washing machine my Dad had while I was growing up lasted 20 plus years. No, things are not made as well as they use to be, but this tops the cake. I’ve been married 25 years and have had 4 washing machines, the last one being Maytag.

Wow, I guess I got a good set too! I bought matching Performa washer and gas dryer set back in 2005 (branded as Amana but they are obviously Maytag Performa machines) and they've been nothing but reliable and wonderful. I've got them both leveled on the concrete basement floor and they don't budge or make any noise, been running for 10 years without so much as a hiccup. Probably shouldn't tempt fate but they are every bit as reliable as my old A-606 washer and DG-606 dryer that I used to have.
No matter the type of articles, the weight of the articles or how carefully it is loaded (and reloaded mid cycle) it runs out of balance and must be reloaded constantly. Pain in the buttox. It has always done this since we purchased it.
Buying all new appliances. In the past always purchased Maytag, but never again. Our washer is always dancing across the laundry room floor no matter how carefully we load it. Maytag response was to defend the product rather than acknowledge that it was a design fault. Even the most basic of washers should work properly. We did not want something with a lot of bells and whistles, but did expect that it would work without babysitting it.
Hokey Pokey describes it. Our Performa dances, too, even on the gentle cycle. We figured we'd let it bang itself to death and buy a real washer.
I guess I got a good set. Bought performa washer and dryer 13 years ago. Three months ago replaced the belt in the washer and put a thermo fuse in the dryer. Less than 1 hour of my time and $45 in parts. No complaints here.
I cannot get a repairman to touch my maytag performa because the serial number has worn out and they said that it would be too much trouble. Sears said it was the transmission and another repair business has not even bothered to follow-up with me.Called the maytag number from the website and was told that I would have to pay for the part even if it was the wrong part. I am so disappointed.
Hello Mr. Parks. My name is Melanie and I am a representative of Maytag. We apologize about the frustration you have experienced with your washer. If you would like us to look into this further, please provide your name, the site you were contacted on, your user ID name, your phone number, your address, the full model and serial number, and email the requested information to Maytag.Digital@maytag.com. We would be happy to review your concerns further. Sincerely, Melanie.
Man, I think we should start a class action suit against Maytag Performa--I have the same problems as all you other folks.
I dreamed of owning a Magtag, the repairman never had anything to do! My Maytag jumps all over the second floor washroom and had driven us crazy--making the drain pipes leak on the ceiling. Let's get a good lawyer!
Same thing...I bought a Performa set 4 1/2 years ago and they have worked great up until the last few days. The washer will fill up, try to engage the spin cycle and quit, leaving me with a washer full of water. After I let it sit for several minutes, it would sometimes kick in and sometimes it wouldn't. I read several forums and they all seem to point to Maytag "slapping" them together. I called Maytag and they have the rudest customer service and didn't care whether I fixed it or not. Shame on them, I'll never buy another Maytag product. I am debating on replacing the motor or hauling the thing to the scrap yard. Hope this helps...
Less than 2 yrs with a Performa ...stops in middle of cycle, open shut open shut lid until it catches
Then suddenly it doesnt anymore and ur stuck with wet clothes and a washer full of water..SUCKS
may maytag rest in peace and the corporation dies!
I bought a Maytag FAV6800AWW Top Loading Washer from Sears in Aug 2004 for $1050.. In about 6 months the washer was off balanced due to a bra wire. Since it was under warranty the repairmen fixed it with a service charge.
In Jan 2007, one day, there was scratching noise and so we called the repairmen for $40.00. His estimate to fix this damn machine was a whopping $495 + tax. Decided not to fix this junk and bought a Whirlpool WTW5810SW Top Loading Washer for $479 from Costco.
May Maytag rest in peace and the corporation dies. The patheticity is Whirlpool bought Maytag...Why?
Does not honor warranty
We have a Jenn Air range stove and the grill portion was not working properly. We had purchased the Dependability Plus Warranty. We called and they suggested cleaning out these small holes which were clogged. We tried to do this and it didn't work. They told us to have someone come out and this would be covered. We had someone come out and they fixed...
Read full review of Maytag and 26 commentsproblems with the ice maker!
I bought my maytag ice2o French door refrigerator from home depot 8 mos ago. Loved it when I got it, but soon after had problems with the ice maker. They replaced the ice maker. Now the ice maker is still having problems. Its not strong enough to break up all the ice. The ice cubes freeze in big blocks causing the system to clog. Last night the thing took on a mind of its own. All the lights are flashing on the control panel, the ice and water maker don't work at all. The flap is constantly opening and closing all on its own, constantly making a clicking noise all night long. Finally we had to unplug it so we could get 4 hours sleep. Plug it in this morning and its still doing it. My biggest concern is what happens after the warranty runs out. I already know this thing has mechanical problems. Did I get a lemon or is it junk? Either way I'm stuck with a $2,800 refrigerator that seems like it has bad engineering.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
My Maytag French Door MFI2568AES refrigerator now has the flashing control panel lights and constant cycling ice dispenser door problem. I guess I've been luckier than most after reading the 100's of comments on this site as my unit is about 12 years old. I certainly don't want to replace refrigerator for a defective circuit board issue that has been known about since 2007 or so. Alarming is the info that replacement boards are not available.
I’ve had the same problem with our Maytag French fridge freezer since I got it home. Contacting the retailer and Maytag resulted in exactly nothing. The ice maker (occasional ice maker) makes ice when it feels like it. Then it makes no ice for days. Or weeks. Then there’s a wonderful sound of the solenoid allowing water into the ice maker and we know we can have a gin and tonic in a few hours. We’ve had it for a year and recently, for the first time, the ice maker actually produced enough ice for more than two drinks - it did this every day for five days. That was two weeks ago. It hasn’t made ice since. The irony is that I bought the Maytag specifically for the ice-making function as it was to replace our fourteen-year-old Samsung that produced at least a champagne bucketful of ice per day and cost a fraction of the price. We now have to buy ice...
Ok, I just have to put my 2 cents worth in now.. Bought this beautiful dreamy looking French doors refrigerator complete with the best ice maker on the market, nice tag at $ 3895.00 plus tax. But, it's a Maytag, they're the best there are, right? Nope, find out now, when we experience the same issue as all the rest, flapping, noisy ice maker door. BUT, even better, the part is no longer manufactured so we can't even repair it. Nicely done Maytag.
I called Maytag after reading the 100s of comments on this site and the customer service rep I spoke to says there is nothing at all in their system that tells her there are any issues with this model that she is aware of. I suggested she Google this model of their refrigerator and read the reviews and then she will be aware of it as well. I asked what am I to do about it now and she assured me that the "Maytag Authorized Repairman" IN MY city would contact me within 48 hours. I asked if I could have the name of the local company so that I could expect their call, the customer service person said that the service company requests that my info be given to them, not the other way around.. That should have been my first hint of how this was going to go. It's a full 3 days later and I have not received a call. I decided to contact a local company myself and they came out the same day. When I told them that the authorized repairman has not called me yet, he told me that there is not an authorized Maytag repair company in this city. Another thumbs up to you in that one too Maytag!
So, yes, my issue is the ice maker door flap. The repair company checked their appliance parts supplier and manufacture of this part has been discontinued.. Well, I guess Maytag realized the replacement doesn't work either...
I had him just unplug the ice maker so that we can use the fridge. Fingers crossed, knowing now I sure did not get what I paid for. I have a 35 year old GE deep freeze that has never given us a single problem, an ancient Kenmore, same thing and then you buy the cream of the crop and you get a big fat lemon.
@Grillus7:
Thank you for your review. We apologize about the frustration you have experienced with your Refrigerator. If you still need assistance, please provide your name, the name of the site you were contacted on (Complaintsboard), your user ID name (Grillus7), your phone number, your address, the full model and serial number, and email the requested information to Maytag_Digital@Maytag.com. We would be happy to review your concerns further.
Maytag_Digital@Maytag.com is apparently an invalid email address.
Maytag? Do you care to give me an email address that is NOT invalid by chance?
Well, we had peace and quiet for 2 weeks, I guess we are lucky... Yesterday it started all over again. The noisy flapping ice maker door began again which MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL since it has been disconnected (not just with the shut off on the button, but unplugged as well inside the ice maker) I tried the email again that Maytag gave me to contact them with further information and this time it worked. Fingers crossed, looks like I'm having to count on them to give us some time of solution after all. Could we be among the 'certain lot' of known ones that are bad? I notice they only reply to some of the complaints and cannot tell why to some and not others.
I received a call from Maytag/Whirlpool offering a discount on another product of theirs as the control panel that solves the problem is no longer available. I just do not understand why a company would stop making the apparent fix for the hundreds (600+?) of people who have to deal with an appliance that they paid a lot of money for that becomes useless in less than 10 years. Are they not embarrassed that many of us also own GE products that have been in our families since the 60/70/80s and are still doing their jobs? What would it take for someone like this massive world-wide manufacturing conglomerate with electronics divisions to make a control board to solve the problem with the product that THEY manufactured? Sadly, all they offer you is another one of their products. Sure, like I am going to trust that..
in 2011 we decided to purchase all new appliances for our kitchen. We were retired and wanted new so we didn't have to worry about "fixing" them. We decided to buy MAYTAG as thru the years we saw the commercials that said "you never have to call a repairman" and showed him sitting there bored as can be. WE bought Model #MMV5208WW microwave and in 2014 it went out. We took it to the dealer who checked it and said it was the Magnetron tube, the most expensive part and it would cost us 380.00 to repair...we bought a new microwave instead as that was more than we could buy a new one for. Between that time and now our ice maker went out on our Model MVF2258XEW refrigerator, my husband repaired that as the extended warranty we bought did not cover that part, of course...then we woke to find water all over the floor in front of the freezer...we that wasn't covered either...the back of the freezer FROZE up...so my husband being handy, took the back off and was able to clear the frozen back and fix that...just this week, not quite 6 years after buying the refrig/freezer we came home to find everything in the freezer part was thawed...and called the repairmen to check it...they said the compressor had gone out...yes it is covered and we felt relief...however the labor, which is our part is 378.63...PLUSE THE FROZEN MEAT AND OTHER ITEMS IN THE FREEZER...we were shocked to say the least...so we were not smart in buying new MAYTAG appliances for our retirement because all we have done is replace or repair them...we are so disappointed in MAYTAG and recommend no one make the same mistake that we have ...needless to say the next time something goes wrong we will buy a new refriderator...funny thing is the one we replaced the new one with is 17 yrs old and still running in our sons home...never had to repair anything on it...ever...we should have stayed with that brand...

What u gonna do about it I got same problem with my maytag fridge one year from aarons
Dear Patricia Mcgeachy: We are sorry to hear that you are having problems with your Refrigerator.
We would be happy to look into this matter. If you could email us at Maytag_Reviews@Maytag.com with your name, phone number, and address along with the model and serial number of the Refrigerator.
Ice maker on 3 yr old Maytag french door bottom refrigerator stopped working yesterday. Not a happy Maytag customer! The old Whirlpool worked fine for years with only one repair.
Do you people think I or anyone else will consider for even a minute buying a Maytag appliance after being inundated with stupid 30 second videos of the New Maytag Man impersonating appliances to the tune of Colonel Boogies March or Boy George's "I'll tumble for you " ?
Fools you are, , , , Fools we are not ! !
Microwave caught on fire last month when not in use. Son was cooking on stove and looked up and said microwave was on fire. Thought it was a joke but it wasn't. Fire went right threw the round glass to the bottom. Took pictures and it is in garage but getting ready to pitch it.
Sandy Isenberg: We're truly sorry to hear this. We would like to inquire further about your review with you. Please email us at Maytag_Reviews@Maytag.com with with your name, phone number, street address, zip code, model & serial number, and date of purchase on the Microwave. We look forward to your reply.
Thank you.
Our fridge is much older this now being 2016. I feel lucky that it asted this long without the errant and insane flapping of the ice door and strobe light panel display. Our first experience occured two weeks ago with the mostnrecent at 3:00 a.m. night before last. We had a 5 yr extended warranty on this unit and I have alralready replaced the light display myself about 2yrs ago. I doubt that MAytag will help us since the fridge is now 8 yrs old but the answer is always mo unless you ask. Stay tuned
..
My 4-year-old 3-door Maytag refrigerator experienced same problems as other customers: Blinking lights, groaning sounds, off for two days, on for a couple of hours, off again. A call to Maytag/Whirlpool convinced me to buy the Repair +1 warranty for more than $350. No service available for one week. (Thank God we had a relic of an Amana in the garage.) Repair man determined it was an internal electrical problem and he could not fix it. Then he offered to take my Maytag away and move the Amana from the garage into my kitchen. I said I wanted to keep some of the parts (which I found online sell for $200 to $300). Oh, no, he was not interested in "helping" me if he could not have the whole refrigerator, claiming he intended to use it to teach young refrigerator technicians. ARE YOU KIDDING? He wanted my "unfixable" refrigerator so he could sell the parts! Then the call came from the warranty folks informing me that they'd refund what I'd paid for the warranty … but that I had nothing more coming. Well, thanks for nothing, Maytag! That was the last Maytag/Whirlpool appliance that I will ever purchase. Meanwhile, I gave my unfixable Maytag to a neighbor who is researching the problem, and I'll bet he'll figure out how to fix it.
piece of junk!
This dishwasher is terrible. It's two years old and I've had nothing but problems with it after a few months. The biggest problem is that it rinses the dishes with soapy water and then the soap dries on the dishes.
I've had "technicians" out here but they say they can't help me because my water is hard. Baloney. I've done every "fix" they have told me to do, run it with only vinegar twice, use a product called Lemi Shine, etc. Still the problem. Today the technician told me it was the rinse agent, Cascade Crystal Clear, that was causing the soapy rinse water. So I should run the dishwasher enough times to get rid of all of it in the dispenser. We'll see... I hate this dishwasher. I've had dishwashers for decades, so I know what they should do, but these "technicians" talk to me like I've never owned one before and it's my fault!
Beware!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
We bought a new model, and I loved it better than any dishwasher I have had in our 55 years of marriage... until it died one month after installation... an expensive one at that! contact with customer service has been very unpleasant and service techs are greatly delayed in date to come and repair. we are seniors, sheltering in place during covid, husband on hospice and we must have sanitized dishes. very very disappointing to see the lack of timeliness in repairing. now we hear that it is so new that no parts are available... really? can you please replace it... immediately?
I read in consumer reports that maytag dishwashers were not reliable, but my sister had one and loved it, and I wanted to believe her... maybe that was a mistake? and the features of this model were outstanding, and it was outstanding for one short month! sooo very sad... to add to the covid sadness and my husband's illness.
Model mdb8959skz
I have one that is good but I have a Maytag washer that is a nightmare they need to change their name to nightmare
Wow, I am shocked to hear all the complaints about the Maytag Quiet 200 dishwasher. Mine is old and works so well. I have very hard water but have never had a problem. It is starting to run a little loud so have been looking at where I can get one exactly like it. I have never had a dishwasher that works so well! I love mine
has any had a problem with the cycle taking 3-4 hrs to complete ?
I totally agree with the comments above. We bought Maytag products including the frig, stove, and dishwasher; and had nothing but trouble with all of them similar to what is already described. Went to look up how to fix the broken handle on the dishwasher and saw this. Also, we regret buying the SEARS front loader washing machine. Mold, slime, door issues, pump bad, bearings out, and oh that smell.
Ours broke after only three months. It was fixed under warranty. But then more problems started: The handle is cheap plastic and broke several times. Now it leaks water and doesn't wash the dishes. It probably doesn't pay to get this piece of junk fixed again. Time for a new brand.
thanks all! will be stayin g away from mytag appliances from here on. i thought they were the best!
Well I bought the Maytag Quiet Series 200 dishwasher at Leon's after looking at the Consumers Reports site. They gave it acceptable rating, so on July 29, 2007, I bit the bullet and spent $568.86. It worked fine for the first year. Then the handle broke. I was blaming my wife for forcing it. I probably should apologize to her about that since a lot of people have had this issue. I called to get a replacement . It would have cost over a $100 to get a new assembly. I thought since I can still open and close it, I would not repair it. On Sept 17, 2010 with had heater element repaired at no charge because of the issue with fires reported. A week ago it started making a huge amount of noise and my wife was complaining about how loud it was and how it was leaking onto the kitchen floor. Of course when I tried it, there was nothing out of the ordinary noise wise and it was not leaking on the floor? Last night however I ran a load of dishes and went to bed as I usually do. Big mistake. I woke up this morning and went downstairs to put a load of laundry in. I stepped into a puddle of water on my way to the laundry machine. There was water sitting on the top of the washing machine and the ceiling tiles above it were dripping. It sits right below where the dishwasher sits upstairs. I wiped up the mess and went to the kitchen. Floor near dishwasher covered in water. Wiped it up. Took the float off and cleaned it and reinstalled it. Tried to start another cycle. The water started to pour out of dishwasher again. I guess its time to buy another dishwasher but I don't think it will be a Maytag this time.
I have a Maytag Quiet Series 200 dish washer . Today my wife try to open the door to access the dishes. Surprise to her that the handle is broken. Can't open the door at all ! How in the world can you order the parts to fix it if that door can't open? Yes dishes are full of grimes if you don't HAND wash it first. And I thought it was just my family's dishes needs that extra TLC before the dish goes in. Well I am going to pry the handle to open it or just trash it.
We have the 200 series dishwasher. Upon initial installation, the bottom does not completely drain. The water does not get hot, even with our water heater on full tilt, and with the high heat setting applied to the dishwasher. The only reason my dishes are hot when I open the door is the drying mechanism. I ran a large load the other day and it took damn near 2 hours to complete?!
Crap product. Going to buy a different make and model all together. Will not EVER deal with maytag dishwashers again.
We have a Maytag Series 200 and have replaced the handle 3 times and now will not start. Before that, would have to clean the dishes before putting in the dishwasher! What a piece of JUNK! Never again Maytag.
no more maytag in the future!
Purchased a new Maytag bottom freezer refrigerator from Lowes in June 2006. Lowes took our old refrigerator, so we kept all our cold and frozen items in freezer chests until the new Maytag had the proper temperatures.
Five hours went by and the new Maytag was not cold.
We called Lowes and they said that it may take up to 12 hours before the cooling kicks in. 12 hours went by and still no cold. We called Lowes again, they gave us a Maytag number to call. Maytag told us that it could take up to 24 hours.
The next day, 24 hours gone, still no cold temps in the Maytag. By this time our food in the freezer chests was beginning to spoil. We called Maytag again, they said it must have malfunctioned and to call Lowes. Lowes said that they would bring another refrigerator, which they did the next day. However, by then, all our food was spoiled.
Lowes said they would replace the refrigerator, but could not replace the food - that was Maytag's responsibility. We called Maytag the same day, but they said they could not replace the food because we had not purchased an extended warranty. We were very surprised because we thought the refrigerator should at least work when brand new and that the original warranty should cover everything. Maytag had no sympathy, said that it was something we would have to live with and that they would rush a new refrigerator to us.
We decided that another Maytag was not in our future. We called Lowes, which was very sympathetic, cancelled the Maytag and ordered a GE Profile Bottom Freezer. It has worked perfectly and has several features we liked much better, especially the storage in the bottom freezer and the dual temperature displays in the upper section.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
will not honor extended coverage!
I contacted Maytag at [protected], gave them my certificate number of the extended coverage contract that is good through the end of 09/06/2008 and was advised that they no longer cover the Sky Box. They gave me another number to call and it took me to the same voice mail - hit an button - and get the runaround again.
The item is the Maytag Sky Box that I purchased at Home Depot and I purchased the Certificate of Coverage direct from Maytag Dependability Plus.
This is a follow-up of my previous complaint about the Maytag SkyBox.
I kept at it, got the runaround and finally received a call where they offered to buy out my maintenance contract for $500. I took the deal, received the money and now have a SkyBox that cools but will not dispense and $500 in the bank.
Don't give up.
I have also been scammed by the company skybox, INC www.skybox.net

recurring problem with self clean and no heat in oven
We purchased a beautiful stainless steel, glass top, hidden element Maytag range in mid-2005. After we performed the self clean mode, the oven did not heat up any more. We had almost every part on the range replaced, more than once. Maytag kept insisting that the service company try one more thing, one more thing. Their last suggestion was for the service company to modify the engineering on the range. The service company refused. After months and months of service calls to fix this recurring problem, Maytag has finally agreed to refund the entire value of the range. Luckily for us, we noticed the problem before the 1-year warranty was up and all service calls were included under warranty, even though their last service call was way past the warranty period. Not that any of this has been easy, we have been arguing with Maytag for months about service costs and replacement value. When I get my refund, I WILL NOT be purchasing another Maytag range.
we wasted $480 on a machine we had a little over a year!
My mother bought a Maytag washing machine on November 2, 2017 at Home Depot. Eight months after buying the machine she had to have a Maytag service provider come to replace the belt. Just three days ago, one year and six weeks after buying the machine it broke. We had a Maytag service provider come to the house and he told us that the transmission is broken on the machine and it would cost her about $200 to replace it and she would be better off buying a new machine. Then she had to pay the service guy $58.30 for telling her that her machine was broken.
We finally got Maytag to replace the transmission only to have it then break again in February. They fixed it again and it broke again in April and we had to pay $150 to have it fixed - a week later it was broken.
We through the washing machine out and bought a new one. We will never again buy a maytag or whirlpool (since they merged) product again. We are renovating our entire kitchen and we are buying all GE appliances due to the fact that they stand behind their products.
My suggestion is STAY AWAY FROM MAYTAG AND WHIRLPOOL products - we wasted $480 on a machine we had a little over a year.

Two Technicians have come to my home and did not repair my Washing machine. I was told during the first visit that I was to order a part that they did not have in stock. I was suckered into paying $216 as a partial payment for parts that were unnecessary because wrong diagnostics were made. In light of my dissatisfaction, I returned the parts ordered with my own money, and I demanded I be refunded.
They decline to give me my full refund claiming that they charge $75 for the visit regardless of the outcome. It has been nearly 100 days and as of yet after making several calls, there is no refund in sight. Meantime their records show that a refund was issued. THIS COMPANY MUST BE PUT OUT OF BUSINESS FOR FRAUDULENT ACTIVITIES.
I purchased a Maytag washing machine about six months ago. It recently broke and will not drain the water. I called Maytag and was referred to A & E Factory Service. The first time I called I gave them all the information and was given a Tuesday appointment from 8-5 a.m. I work full time so I called on Monday to confirm the appointment and to make sure they could call me at least 30 minutes prior to arriving. When I called they said they didn’t have any of my information and was not scheduled for any repair. Which was untrue because I had talked to them a week prior. Acknowledging that accidents happen, I was very patient and set up another appointment for Thursday in the same week from 1-5 p.m. This time I left work a bit early to make sure when they called I would be right there. 4 o’clock rolls around and I give A & E a call. They said they were running behind but would have the technician call me back. 5:30 rolls around and still no word so I call back. This time I spoke to a manager who informed me that the computer systems went down and the technician had no idea where he was suppose to go or contact numbers to reschedule. Which I find hard to believe beings I called the company direct twice that day and left my number. The first time I called they said they were running around then the manager tells me the computers were down? Which is it? The manger then told me they would call me the next day and try to get me in. They called me at 10 a.m. to tell me the first available was Monday from 8-5 a.m. I said unacceptable and asked to speak to a manager. They said he would have to call me back. Hours passed and finally in irritation I called the company back and talked to an executive manager who informed me basically there was nothing he could do and the first available appointment was now Tuesday! Ive been over a week without a washer and feel that the situation could have been handled a little better than giving the run around and not having someone at least call me in the first place to tell me they were having issues! I don’t want to deal with this company again!
The maytag store in Canada (Mississauga) located in Mavis/britania promise me that they going to deliver the washer this Saturday (Dec 9 2017). I took my day off to be at home for the delivery but they left a message(Dec 6) and said they cannot deliver the item because they have to re-order the washer. I went to the store Monday (Dec 4). Before you promise for the delivery be sure you have a stock. They said that they can get it by the end of the month. Its very discouraging for the customer because I need the washer so badly. I don't need the refund but I need the washer immediately.
I will never ever buy another maytag appliance ever again!
This dishwashers rollers that the racks sit on are very cheap. They break constantly and I have had to replace them several times and have ended up super gluing them. I e-mailed Maytag and their response was basically too bad. The service man that came and worked on the racks told me that there was a problem with them, but even the ones that he replaced them with broke. I will never ever buy another Maytag appliance ever again!
I have a Maytag dishwasher, an expensive one at that, the wheel on the upper rack cracked within a year. The only way to replace the wheel (has to cost under a dollar) is to purchase the entire upper rack which is $159.60. The maytag company said "it is only $159.60." Only!
I too am no covered in cobwebs waiting for the Maytag repairman. I am sure he is in the same dreams as the tooth fairy, Santa Claus and the Easter bunny. We have called and waited, called and waited, called and waited. When we do get through the service is great and the promises sound good, but, we still don't have the part. My fingers look like prunes from washing dishes and the quality time spent with my wife washing dishes is a benefit. Maytag appliances, as far a I'm concerned has a future in our household. We will tell story and fairy tales to our grandchildren about the wonderful service and great product Maytag builds in the "never, never land" - 'cause purchasing one in real life - "never, never".
The new grand fictional scheme offered up by Maytag oops, I mean Whirlpool, are the supervisors who are at this present time handling the recall claims of these hazardous appliances.
Whirlpool has outsourced these recall agents/supervisors/escalation team to call centers throughout the country. One of these such places is West Corporation, a call center that places people with only three days of training directly on to the phones in order to fool the public into believing they are the Recall escalation supervisors. First of all this is quite far from being a supervisory position because the only thing they are supervising are the PC monitors in front of their faces with carefully phrased scripting for talking to angry consumers about their recall issues. Now talk about fictitious!
I have been trying to get a part for my dishwasher that was recalled since Feb. 10-o7. We have been on the phone several times , one person said that it had been shipped, but she lied about it. I was on the phone most of the day April 9 and also the 10th. I still do not have a part. They keep giving me more phone numbers to call. I have gave them the model and serial number so much i could scream.
Not that I'm an industry insider or anything, "ahem," but - Maytag is recalling more than two-million dishwashers.
Evidently because they can catch fire.
The company says dishwasher liquid is leaking (possibly from the drying agent reservoir) and making the appliances short-circuit.
So far: More than three-hundred families have had problems and at least four people have been injured.

repair of washer
I have been trying to have repairs made to my Maytag washer since the orginal claim filed under my extended warranty since late March. Despite countless calls and time spent on the phone with these people, my machine is still taking up space in the laundry room. Last week I finally talked to a customer service employee that seemed to know what he is doing and a promise was made to repair the machine. This was after certified letters were sent to the service plan, their carrier and the attorney general's office. My small local certified Maytag service provider a couple of weeks ago was told that he would be left holding the bag on a $200 part that Maytag sent him, he did not order the wrong part. He was told several times up to that payment would be "overnighted" on the first service call payment that he made in April. He just received payment in September. I eprsonally had to spend my time to straighten this mess out. Do not buy Maytag and especially do not buy their extended warrently. It is not worth the paper used to print in on.
This is very typical of May tag. As I too have in the past and currently am experiencing the exact same ordeal ie: numerous phone calls and extended time with repetitious suppling of information to their robot answering system before you get to a very rude live consultant then having to repeat the entire process and only to be told to wait two days before being contacted by a dispatching service then scheduled 1 week before they'll even come out! So much for the 'Lonely May tag Repairman' Not mention this will be the 11th service call on their top of the line 'Neptune Washer' that you are told you must continually run empty loads with dishwasher detergent to keep the mold in check. Some design guys! Your R & D leaves a lot to be desired!
the worst appliance experience!
I bought a Maytag Neptune MAH7500AWW and matching gas dryer 4 years ago. Previous to that I owned a Maytag top loader and matching electric dryer for 25 years. The old machine was being retired for better washing technology (front loader, etc.), and it's a good thing I kept the old machine! In four years: -front panel (touch screen) failed within 2...

They take their time to fix the appliances and don't come. I am still waiting for my washer to get fix and it will take 8 weeks to get the washer fix assuming they do come and have the parts.
My washer is leaking and it took 3 weeks for someone to come out. When the technician did come, he said the last technician forgot to secure the motor with a latch. (That means I had a unsecured motor for a year.) It will take 2 more weeks for someone to come to secure it so a total of 5 weeks of waiting. That day, no one came.
But to top it off, I called and asked the status and ALL FIVE REPRESENTATIVES said he was scheduled to come... they lied. The last rep even said he would come even after 5pm... so I waited.
Finally, I called again and the rep said that the technician wasn't able to come.. gee it was already 5:30 after the scheduled time. The technician should of called me or the 5 REPRESENTATIVE should of told me instead of me waiting. It will take another 2 weeks for someone to come out.
I called this week to confirm someone would come out and... they don't have me scheduled... so I can schedule another appt it and it will take another 2 weeks. That is 8 weeks, 2 months till the washer gets fixed assuming the technician comes and the last technician diagnosis it properly.
My daughter had an Admiral Refrigerator serviced by Maytag Dependebility Plus for the past seven years. Somewhere along the line they got her listed with a new refrigerator that she never purchased because they update your information by unrequested information from sales companies. After paying for service on the only refrigerator she has owned for 7 years her unit went bad. Maytag Dependability agreed that they had her old unit in their system but since they changed it to a new unit she should have caught the change on the bottom of her contract that they made by mistake and now they wont service the product.
If you are still within your 1 year manufacturer's warranty, you should call A & E Factory Service at [protected] - they handle issues for Maytag's first year now.
If you have an Extended Service Contract (Maytag Dependability Plus), look on your certificate and find the # that you need to call for service and they should be able to look into this. Most service providers normally have a 10 day time frame (to diagnosis the problem within 10 days - this info will be on your contract Terms & Conditions also) - with the exception that parts are on backorder. MDP does not have any control over the parts being delivered but with the recent transfer of service from ABS to A & E there have been some issues.
I hope this helps you some and that you get this resolved!
Let me know if I can help further!
maytag has not honored their written warranty
I am involved in a battle with the Maytag Corporation. It has taken place for almost three years. My washer was under warranty, and it is faulty. Maytag has not honored their written warranty. I have called their customer service department as well as their other offices. I have even written Maytag executives and informed them of my machine’s performance. I have expected to be fully compensated for the purchase price of my machine as well as the cost of the destroyed laundry. This has not happened. From the onset I have been directed from one department to the other, all which claim they are not responsible for the handling of this matter. I have been placed on hold, totaling hours at a time! I have left numerous messages. I have been told I will receive a callback and yet, often I do not. I have been deceived from the very beginning! One department claims it’s the other’s responsibility. I am then redirected. When I contact the supervisor of the other department I am given the same excuse- It’s not my problem! I can not assist you. This is not part of my job... I have constantly been misinformed or uninformed! I am at a loss! I know of others with the same complaint with their Atlantis washer. I wish a survey could be taken to determine if this is a major complaint from others as well. I believe there is a legal case. Is there a way you could share my letter so I may determine if I do have support out there? I honestly believe Maytag expects their customers to give up and drop their complaints. I have finally bought a new washer. It is not a Maytag! Maytag is promising a pro-rate. I have lost at least $650 in clothing and have now spent over $1500 for two washers! I have been told I will receive about $460 for my Maytag machine. The machine cost me over $550. If they do actually reimburse me with a pro-rate, I will still lose about $1700! Am I protected? Are my concerns warranted and worth pursuing? I have learned through this horrid experience the importance of keeping all records and dates. I have decided not to rely on phone conversations if at all possible because they can deny what was spoken. If I must rely on a conversation, I ask for the spokesperson’s name and rank. Now I try to get everything in writing. I make copies of letters I have written, as well as those written by Maytag. I keep files on my computer. It is an eye opener! I am more cautious with my future purchases. I do a great deal of researching before I buy. I do not rely on “name-brands”. I search the web and the library to read reviews and collect data about the object’s performance. I check out the consumer magazines. I discuss with other owners of the same item and gather their opinions or recommendations. I ask the salesperson questions! I check with the store on their policies. I find out how well the manufacturer works with their consumers if ever there is a dispute…how they actually honor their warranty. I feel as if I am taking a Business 101 course! I hope to succeed. Do you have any other directions I have failed to consider? Is it possible that I can defend myself and the rights of others deceived by the Maytag Corporation? My atlantis unit is 3 years old and now requires new bearings, i have contacted Maytag and today was told they would try and solve our problem. They require a stat dec from us as the warranty card is not proof of purchase. i will keep you up dated as to the resolution of my washer. Vicky Brisbane Qld Australia
This machine is a lemon and they know it is and don't care and will not honor the extended warranty. It is a shame that they are able to get away with defrauding the consumers and breaching contracts. I am contemplating just what action I will take to remedy a very similar situation with the "Magtag Dependability People".
do not waste your hard earned money on maytag
I bought the Maytag Neptune washer and dryer in 2002 and spent quite a lot of money on these machines. The dryer works fine, but the washer is a complete piece of junk. The rubber ring inside soon developed black mold in it and mold keeps trying to accumulate in the soap dispenser and other parts. The mold gets worse every week and the stench is awful. I'm starting to smell it on our clothes. I've tried bleach, Clorox Cleanup and OxyClean to no avail.
Despite having sent the postcard back in to register the appliance, I never received notice of the class action lawsuit they settled last year. I called the customer service department and was told I was out of luck. I have proof of purchase, but they will not do anything to help me resolve the matter. I was told to put some dishwasher detergent in the machine with some bleach, but I am dubious that will work. In any event, the mold is certain to return because the product is defective.
My husband and I will NEVER purchase another Maytag appliance again. I am a real estate agent and sometimes am asked by my clients what I think of certain appliances. I will council my clients to avoid all Maytag appliances. They build a shoddy product and do not stand behind it when it falls apart.
There are plenty of good manufacturers out there; do not waste your hard earned money on Maytag.
I have been noticing that the surface around the controls is discolored and stained. They are inside and not subject to any weather.
I called the customer service dept and was advised that because there had been no previous reports of this issue there is nothing they are willing to do.
What a disappointment!
I bought a Maytag Performa 10 years ago worked like a horse no problems..then all the sudden the tub would go out of balance and jump all over the place go and reajust the load and no sooner get up the stairs it would start again.called the people and they said replace the 6 springs the holds the tub to the bottom ..no change ..I replaced those myself only cost me 35.00 then a leak came in the tub I was ready to throw it out the door but didnt and fiberglassed the tub no more leak but still have the unbalancing act. Called a repair man he said check the leveling legs they were rusted solid I sprayed them with oil and freed them up stopped jumping around for a few days but went back to the old bronking horse...they tell me Im better off to go buy a new one...from all the complaints Iv read it will not be another Maytag...
I will never buy another Maytag product either. I purchased a Maytag Atlantis washer and dryer and have had nothing but trouble.
I purchased a Maytag washer SAV5401AWW in May 2003. I had an older Maytag (over 22 yr old) and had only had one service call, costing about half the price of a new machine. Hence, I figured I'd buy another (new) Maytag. This was a huge mistake! I wish I had kept my original.
Starting in March 2004, I had the first of four tub seal failures, approximately one per year. The first was under the original warranty, so we purchased the extended warranty. Then I had three more, but since the first was under manufacturer's warranty, it doesn't count for the "Lemon Law". This fourth repair has now exceeded the cost of the original machine (a small print clause in the extended warranty) so my balance is being refunded and I will have to pay for the repair part (there was enough dollar balance to cover the labor).
Each time, the machine would make very loud noises (I guess from the bearings), "walk" all over the place (like an unbalanced load, except this happened with every load), eventually the washer would leak (but after the first time I knew what the problem was and didn't let it go that far).
One of the service repairmen told me this was really an Amana design, which is why it was so terrible. Anyway, I will never buy another Maytag and urge others to do the same.
I purchased a Maytag washer almost 6 years ago that began making noise over the weekend. I'd called and arranged for a service tech to come look at it and give me a repair estimate.
He was on time, professional and knowledgeable. I suppose this is reflected by the fact that he said he's seeing a lot of this kind of problem with Maytag products. In short order he gave me an estimate of $547 to repair a machine that according to him was NOT under any sort of warranty. Maytag claims the machine had a transmission warranty that extended to 10 years. But even with that, it was going to cost in excess of $300 for the repair labor.
I called Maytag in hopes that they might have a customer advocacy program or similar mechanism. Not a chance of that happening so don't bother calling them. The people that I spoke with were very nice but as the saying goes, "nice don't feed the bulldog". I asked was there any way they could help me and the answer consistently was that the warranty was what it stated. I've purchased 4 major appliances from Maytag in the last 6 years. I told the company representatives that this WILL be the last.
I can't say strongly enough, don't buy Maytag, tell your friends not to buy Maytag, tell your enemies that Maytag is just fine, tell your relatives to run if they're asked to buy Maytag appliances. Gordon Jump (The Maytag Repairman) must be spinning in his grave.
a real disappointment
The stainless steel Maytag refrigerator is a very expensive refrigerator that will look great for about a month. The stainless steel doors are so soft that they dent like butter. Maytag will do nothing about it either, so if you want a good stainless steel refridgerator, look elsewhere, this one is a real disappointment.
Just ordered my 3rd evaporator fan for my Maytag fridge Model MTB2156GEB which I bought in August of 2003. First fan went, after about three years. Called service payed about $250.00 for serivce and part, last one went on May of 2008, Ordered online for 56.00 + shipping, just checked it cuase things were getting thawed again and sure enough now the third fan went, this is definetley not the fan alone, somethiong is causing this. I can't believe I am putting the 4th fan in and it's only lees than seven years old, I too will e-mail Maytag but I'm sure it willl go no where.
I have 4 Maytag Products all purchased within the last 4 years and I have already had to have service on 3 of them. My stove still is not right. My dryer went out before it was even 1 year old and now my dishwasher which was purchased in June of 2005 and installed in August 2005. It has CHEAP plastic parts and now will cost me 160.86 to repair because, has the repair man put it, Maytag sets the price for labor. I remember the days when the commercials for Maytag were of Mayteg repair men doing nothing and now I have had to have 3 of my 4 Maytag appliances repair all before they were 4 years old. I am discusted and will NEVER buy a Maytag appliance again. I tried to get satisfaction from the people I spoke with on the phone and they were only willing to pay for the parts which are around 75.00. I can not believe to repair 2 PLACTIC parts would be over 240.00 to fix on a dishwasher LESS than 3 years old. I have NEVER felt so ripped off in my life and will NEVER buy another Maytag product.
I truly feel that Maytag's merge is the worst thing you could have done. Maytag used to be such an excellent product and now I have had to have 3 of my 4 Brand New Maytag appliances that I purchased for my new home repair before they were 4 years old... shame on you for selling such inferior plastic crap ! I have been married 21 years and have always had Maytag appliances... but NEVER again!
November 2004 we bought a new stainless steel French door-freezer on bottom refrigerator. then in August of 05 the memory board went out and we lost a lot of food. the came, replaced the board and everything was working fine. But in March of 2007 the refrigerator went out again. This was a mess I was getting ready for a big.
Confirmation party and lost once again all my food. not happy i called they came out to fix it this time it was the exaportor fan. this cost me $230.40 to fix. it took the repair man less than 45 minutes to put in. I just want you to know that I'm not happy with all the reaps I have to put in this new appliance, and I see others have had the same problems.

To Whom It May Concern:
We owned a Maytag Model number PBF1HEW Serial Number 1059876GA Purchased on June 9, 2005. In the last week of October 2006 it stop cooling. After going through hoops and hurdles for many weeks, we finally found someone who Maytag approved of to come out and look at the unit. He found that it was a leak with the sealed unit and was under warranty; all except his driving out to my house which cost $60. He “repaired the unit” and left. The unit never did cool. We called him back the next morning and he stated that Maytag wanted him to replace the line that leaked. He had to order the part. He came out and replaced the part. The unit did not work, but he still thought that he could repair it, but said he needed to take the unit, which he did. Latter we found out that the part it needed was not sold. Maytag agreed to replace the unit. Maytag stated that they would send a credit to Lowe’s on January 3, and that we could choose from any refrigerator that we wanted that was is the Maytag line, regardless of the price we had paid for the original and it would not cost us a penny. We called Lowe’s that Saturday and they knew nothing about it. We called back Maytag and told them that Lowe’s did not have the credit. They stated that they would send the credit again via fax, but the fax may take 3 days to reach Lowe’s system. They truly must think we are ###ed.. We requested that they should send us a copy of the credit also via fax. (Our fax system must be much faster than Lowe’s as it came within minutes.) Maytag sent us something different than they sent Lowe’s. Ours stated that we could pick from the stock within the Maytag line. The Lowe’s credit stated that We had a $581 credit, less than our original purchase. We stated that we could not replace the unit that we had for that price. After making argument with us, we prevailed and Maytag agreed to replace the unit with one like we had. On January 17, we agreed on a unit to replace the one that we had. Maytag stated that they would deliver this unit to us and pick up the old unit. Maytag stated that this was to take 7 to 10 days at the most, but would probably be less. We have been without a unit now for 3 months. We called to find out why it was taking so long, as it had been 15 days and still no unit. They said that the delivery company did not have enough people to deliver ours yet. They offered to send us $100 to rent one until we get our refrigerator. I doubt seriously that $100 will cover the cost of a delivered rental. It is now February 5, 2007 with still no refrigerator. We have been lied to and mistreated. We want something to be done and are to the point of great anger at Maytag. Friends and family are thinking that we are stupid for being so patient and should sue Maytag. I am beginning to believe them.
Never Purchase A Maytag Refrigerator
In March of 2003, I purchased a brand-new Maytag, top mount, refrigerator. In December 2004, the Motor Evaporator Fan stopped working. The refrigerator was only 1 1/2 years old. The Maytag service department installed a new fan and charged me $130 for the service call. They claimed the part was covered by the warranty.
On October 13, 2006, the new fan (now almost 2 years old) died. I called repair shops in our neighborhood, not affiliated with Maytag, and both said that it is unusual to go through more than one fan over the entire life of a refrigerator, let alone two in less than four years.
Maytag's customer "service" response was, "Thank you for visiting our Maytag.com customer service page. We appreciate your interest in our products and service. We cannot predict the life of any single part, so we provide a warranty to assist with repair costs. In some instances, parts may need replacing after the warranty expires and the owner is responsible for the repair." Then, they recommended that I call the service department and schedule an appointment.
I sent a follow up note and explained that something larger than the fan is obviously wrong if a new refrigerator is burning through fans every two years. Their response was that the fan is no longer under warranty and that there is nothing they can do for me. Obviously they ignored my question about a larger issue.
I ended up purchasing the motor locally and having it installed by a local, non-Maytag affiliated, repair company. All of this cost less than the $130 that I paid two years ago for Maytag to do the work when it was covered by the warranty. Simply amazing.
maytag neptune washer may cause serious injury or death
On December 5, 206 our Maytag Neptune washer started a fire in our home. We have an Engineer's report stating that the cause of the fire was the Maytag Neptune washer. Maytag has shown no interest in settling this matter, says that there is no proof, but refuses to participate in studying the washer. This fire caused over $70,000 in damage and might have...

I just replaced my Maytag Neptune, 2001, after years of BAD performance. My husband bought them for me (dryer too) thinking what a great investment they would be.
I started noticing odor right away, & my clothes never seemed to be clean.I cannot tell you how many times, I had to wash a load 3 times to get it clean. We purchased the machines at Home depot in Ellsworth Maine. A few times the machine leaked, & it smelled like it was burning.
A local repair man told me it was not worth fixing. I am glad to have an inexpensive regular washer, I have had smelly laundry way too long. Maytag owes us.
