Unauthorized Monthly Billing
I have been getting charged on my credit card for 13 months for a savings plan that I used the first month I bought a book. I had no idea this would be a recurring charge each month, so I never bothered looking at my statements to see that I was being billed. I buy a lot of books on-line and this just looked like something else I expected. I changed credit card companies recently, but this charge kept showing up, so I did a little digging. I called the company and demanded a full refund for the 12 months I never used their so-called services. I will wait and see if they respond to my request. $9.95 per month times 12 months is a total of $119.40 I feel I deserve in refund. I will make sure to take appropriate legal action against this SCAM!

Unauthorized charges to my credit card
In April 2011, I placed an order on a website labeled BBV Discount Books. The price of the book was $12.95. I discovered today that my credit card was charged three additional times, once for $1.00 and two times for $9.95 each. I did not purchase any additional books nor did I authorize any additional charges to my credit card.

Unauthorized billings and several deductions
I ordered 3 books “Letters to a Young Sister” in December as Christmas gifts, then I noticed several deductions from my account from BBV Discount Books. What’s up with that? I did not expect any additional charges. Below is information from my account:
02/14/2011 Other RECUR DB CRD BBV*DISCOUNTBOOKSA 02/11 $9.95
01/12/2011 Other RECUR DB CRD BBV*DISCOUNTBOOKSA 01/11 $9.95
12/13/2010 Other RECUR DB CRD BBV*DISCOUNTBOOKSA 12/11 $9.95
12/06/2010 Other RECUR DB CRD BBV*DISCOUNTBOOKSA 12/05 $1.00
12/07/2010 Purchase PURCHASE BBV*DISCOUNTBOOKSA 12/06 $29.41.

monthly $9.95 charges
I purchased a book for $11.95 in January and noticed in April that BBV had been withdrawing $9.95 from my checking account every month since this purchcase in January. I found their phone number and called. Once I said hello and told them why I was calling, I and was immediately told to call back because they had a bad connection. I refused and and asked the BBV representative on the other line to call ME back. Less than a minute later the representative had called me back and explained that I somehow confirmed my membership to this company on the "checkout" page when I was purchasing this one $11 book. She told me of some email I received welcoming me as a member etc. Somehow, mysteriously, I was aware of none of this. The woman on the phone cancelled my membership (supposedly) and refunded me only ONE of these four $9.95 payments. DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU!

I just called BBV discount books. I also did not purchase this discount savings program. I called 3-12-11 @ 8:30 EST a.m and spoke with Casey Padilla. I bought an ACCESS book on 1-25-11 for my class. I saw the $1.00 charge thought nothing about it then I see $ 9.95 charge from this company. I was hot to say the least. I have a refund # and another #. I warned her if I see it again I will pursue the company legally. BEWARE! Tanya Burke, Syracuse NY
Charging my Checking Acct.
I purchased a book back in Nov. 2017, this company has been debting $9.95 out of my checking acct. I didn't join this book club and had no ID and password to start one... this in not a good company, my book was only a couple bucks but they have taken over $40. dollars from my acct. I called and ripped them a new one. and was told to write a letter to get the rest of the money refunded. they only refund one month back. I was so mad I could spit! I am reporting them to Better Business in FL. and in Oregon. those that have been in comtact with the dirt Ball company should do the same
Sincerely
Brenda

I do not know what these charges are for or have I authorized for it to come out of my account this is the third month I have noticed this, So 30.00 for something I have no idea what its for have copme out of my account, have been trying to find a way to contact you and i finally come across this site so please reinburse me for the transactions and take no furter monies out of my account
This company is a scam. I purchased a book in December 2017 for $7.17 after the $5 coupon which did not clearly state the membership I was signing into. This scam cost me an additional $39.96 on unauthorized charges for a $12 book. I just called the company to cancel my membership and they said cancellation becomes effective immediately, which I will check in a week again to make sure. However, they did not offer to refund my money when I told them that I was not aware of this charge when I purchased the book. I would appreciate receiving a refund for a membership I was scammed into and did not use.
Four months ago I ordered books for a total of 14.27 I recieved those books. Since then I have been charged 9.95 a month for four months. I just caught this and have my bank statements to prove this. Since then my bank has closed are account and I will be taking further action to have my 40.00 returned to me. I'm not the first this site should be shut down.
I placed an order for a book and tape in July, and was not aware that I was signing up for a membership of $19.95 a month. by submitting the order. BBV Discoun Book company deceived me by placing, in small print, under the SUBMIT ORDER space an automatic membership unless I called them to cancel it within 7 days. Companies should not be allowed to do business this way. I was charges $19.95/mo on my Credit Card for a few months until I put in a dispute. My discount book and tape cost me more than $100. Shame on this compamy and others like it.
There are 2 scam monthly charges from this same merchant:
1) from BBV ADN
2) Rebate Giant
Upon buying the book, I did not authorize the extra $1 fee for their 'club' or these monthly charges.
This was absolutely NOT on the purchase screen.
This online retailer added these terms in AFTER the purchase (claiming to do so in the form of an e-mail).
You can't add charges that you did not authorize or add terms AFTER a sale. That is FRAUD.
Contact your local State's Attorney's, Better Business Bureau, and/or your local Police office about this fraudulent business practice matter. Let them know that the retailer added these terms AFTER the online transaction. Let the authorities know that this retailer is claiming to be located at:
21 Ingram Bldg.
Roseburg, Oregon 97471
I hope the owners of this scam lose all of their assets in lawsuits and go to Prison and have to hit rocks with hammers in the blazing sun.
Unauthorized "membership" charges deducted from my bank account for the last 5 months at $9.95 per month. Business claims I signed up for membership but there was nothing stating that I agreed to this anywhere during the checkout process. It had to have been buried and it was not at all obvious. The practice is extremely deceptive and this site needs to be shut down. The FLA. BBB has received many complaints and they have done nothing to warn or protect consumers. The amount of unauthorized deductions from consumer bank accounts could be in the millions every year that this practice continues. I will be contacting the Boca Raton District Attorney and the FTC and FBI. The BBB should step up and do what they are supposed to do. By doing nothing they dilute the security that the BBB seal is supposed to convey.

what can be done about this? and how can I get my money back?
I ordered a book from this company, and they began charging my American Express card a $9.95 fee each month starting in February, 2017. They claim I authorized the charge and was given so many days to opt out. If I did, in fact, authorize, I definietly would have opted out before the time was up. I don't really believe I authorized it at all. I think they just started charging it to my account, figuring it would be a while before I caught it.
This is a HUGE SCAM! Do not buy anything from this website or give them your credit card #. They trick you into offering a very low sale price for a book, then when you click to purchase, they have you check a very non-apparent box that then forces you into a monthly membership fee of $19.95 per month. Then 2 months later, I get an email stating that the book I ordered is not available (I am pretty sure it never was in the first place as it was a hard to find collector's item), and by then unbeknowst to you (unless you carefully check your credit card statements every month), you are charged a monthly fee to belong to this alleged book club. Customer service by phone was useless as they wouldn't reverse any charges, AND customer service by mail was even more useless--I got a blank template copy of the terms and conditions of the site. The company name, address or phone # was not even on the letter. It wasn't even signed by anyone. SCAM SCAM SCAM stay far away!
These guys are sneaky! They have one of the best scams going on that I have ever seen. You buy something from them, I will tell you, you will not get a good deal!
They will not waste any time in going about charging your credit card for an additional $9.95 each month for something you probably had no way of knowing you signed up for by buying something from there website. It is called FRAUD!
DO NOT BUY ANYTHING from BBV discount books. You will get taken for at least $9.95 once. They will not refund! They say it is your fault and in a way it is. You used there website. Use it even once your are screwed.
unauthorized charges
Two months in a row, my credit card has been charged a $9.95 charge. I want my money back immediately!

I ordered a couple books from them in March. I paid for them. In April I find noe that they took $9.95 and now Just Yesterday they took another $9.95. I called and asked about this they claim that this is a monthly charge for buying books. I told her to cancel this which she did and I also requested that they return my money. She said she would return the one from this time but it might take up to two billing cycles. The number I called is [protected] for anyone that needs to have this stopped. My only problem is I feel I should get the other one back also I never ordered or even logged on to this site after I got the books that I paid for.
On July 6, 2010 I noticed that my checking account that I use only for online purchases had been charged $19.95. I do not recall ever doing business with BBV Discount Books and have no idea what this is for. When I try to go to a website for them, I cannot find one. Normally when charges are made to my account, there is a phone number along with the name of the creditor but this only had a partial number. I see that at least a few other people have been scammed by this company so I am hoping that someone can maybe give me a phone number where I can call. Thanks for any help you can give me.
I have two bill on my credit card for $9.95. Thank you Jane R. On essimo
i would like my money back in my backing right now. i am never using this book place again
i have had unauthorized charges automatically taken from my checking account. The dates of these transactions are 12/28/09, 1/27/09, and 2/24/09. The amount of each transaction was $9.95 each time. On two of these occasions, my checking account was overdrawn and i was charged a $39.00 insufficient funds fee. At this time, I will expect my account to be credited in the amount of $107.85. If i have no response from you within 30 days, I will pursue legal action.
Date of complaint 2/24/10.

Company continued to charge 9.98 a month for an internet purchase I made until I complained. Then they said it was a membership fee that was included on their order form. Very shifty business practices and they have no contact address.
I have been charged three separate times at $9.95 each time and would like to discontinue my monthly membership or whatever is causing these charges and be credited the $29.85 back to my account because it was not made clear that charges would be taken out monthly.
Ordered book before Christmas, 2009 for which I was rightfully charged $9.11. Was charged again on 12/29/2009 a fee of $9.95 which I was told was in error. Was charged $9.95 again on 1/20/2010, 2/22/2010 and a pending charge for 3/22/2010. There was no information on their website regarding a monthly "fee" to join; this MUST be stopped!
Do not order books from this company! Very deceptive. If you are a first time buyer you get a deal where you don't have to pay shipping and get a $5 discount on your order. When you check out, somewhere in the check-out page is an agreement that states by placing this order you are signing up for their membership which costs $9.95 each month. They also hit you up with random $1 charges. You will have to call them to get off of their membership. Argh!
About a month ago i purchased a book from the BBV Discount books website and they decided, without my knowledge, to sign me up for a trial period of seven days. At the end of that seven days i am suppose to either cancel it, or keep it and pay $10 a month. Had i been aware of this i would have never ordered anything from their site. Also, they signed me up for something called Rebate Giant. I have never heard of this. when i saw this charge on my statement i immediatley called the customer service number. The rep was very friendly and helpful with cancelling these things. And i got that $10 refunded back on my card. Even though she was helpful, i should have never of had to have gone through all this. I will not be ordering from them again.

I ordered the "Harbinger " book online for my mother. The book was really cheap, and there was a shipping charge, that I didn't mind pay for. But!, I check my checking account daily, and found a charge of $9.95 from BBV Discount books on two statements. One posted to my account on 2-23-12, and one on 3-22-12, and both were catergorized as " withdrawls"
I did not agree to any additional charges, and it said nothing about charging me additional charges, otherwise I would have not ordered the book...I want my charges refunded back to my credit card.
On July 16 I ordered a book for $1.42, that is a charge I undrerstand but after that I have been charged on July 19 $1.00, July 23 $19.95, Aug. 16 $19.95 and Aug. 23 $19.95 can someone please tell me what I am being charged for? and refund my money!
Just called their Customer Service number [protected]) and Pierre was very helpful. He said he removed the unauthorized charges. Guess I won't know for sure until my next bank statement, but I'm optimistic. All of you need to call this number and ask that unauthorized charges be removed. BTW, they are located in Boca Raton, FL @ POB 810365, zip code 33481. Good luck.

BBV Discount Books keeps taking a monthly membership fee from my account,
$12.00/month. I've had trouble contacting them to stop charges and refund some of the charges. I am a poor college student and I feel that the company misrepresented these monthly fees on their web-site during the initial purchase.
Me too!
Sad that you can't simply buy something on line anymore without having to read every single detail on the site. I am going back to the "old fashioned" way of buying things, IN PERSON, AT A STORE!
I too have the same $9.95 unauthorized charge experience after buying a couple of books from them. Fortunately I had charged the books and my credit card co. is filing a complaint and crediting back the payments except for two payments. My fault for not paying better attention to my cc statement. I called the seller and they assure me that my "membership" has been cancelled. I received an email from them confirming this. I will be checking my credit card statement to see if the other two refunds show up. Not a good experience but at this point it seems they are willing to correct things. I shall obviously not buy from them again.
Thank you peant2, I called them and they said they would stop ripping me off for the 9.95 a month! Great info! 85 bucks for a 5 dollar book, not much of a discount was it? Their phone is [protected]...
From a victim in Texas..
bbv is a thief, they are stealing 9.95 amonth since 7/19/2010. And my credit card is letting them! They obiously treat every one like this. They are a fraud and scam artists!
BBv is a rip-off, they are stealing 9.95 a month from everyone that ever bought anything from these scam artist!
