May 2009 Budget Van lines was contracted to move belonging from Sedona, Arizona to Mentor Ohio. a two hundred dollor deposit was set up with sales man James at Budget . He was told we wanted only budget to move us and he assured my friend they would be the movers. She left for Ohio and I placed everything in storage packed sealed and ready to go with her...

Budget Van Lines Awful company

I had planned to use Budget Vanlines for my upcoming move. I haven't moved yet and they have already been a complete nightmare! The information given to me over the phone doesn't match the quote emailed to me and they are refusing to give back my 600+ deposit...

I wish I had read the experiences of others like this prior to calling their number ...

I cannot get in touch with anyone who can help me or refund my money. Instead, the dispatcher forwards me to voicemail everytime I call.

I sent an email with over ten bulleted complaints, only one of which was addressed and the answer was not satisfactory. As if moving across country isn't stressful enough, and now this? I can't book a new moving service until I receive my deposit back from Budget Vanlines and my move is in 6 days!

Learn from my experience and use a different service...

My daughter and son-in-law hired this company to move their belongs from Whicita Falls, Texas to Ogden, UT. My son-in-law is in the military and was moving to his next duty station. The quote that was given was $1675 but after the movers picked up their belongings, they told them it would be a several hundred dollars more on top of the ridiculous booking fee of $250 which was non-refundable and would not be credited in on the move. She paid $750.00 down over the phone. When the movers picked up their belongings they wanted $1415.00 which she paid, they had told her over the phone that only 1/2 of the balance would be due when the movers arrived. They charged for 4900 pounds when the actural total weight was 3100 lbs. I complained and Amy told me that they have to paid for 85% of the 4900 pounds reserved. I told her that even at 85%, they still overcharged. I was able to get that money deducted after numerous phone calls. The movers picked up their belongs on December 15th, 2010 and told them that the delivery date would December 21, 2010. My daughter called to find out what time the delivery would be. They told her they could not get her items there until after the holidays. They have a 22 month old baby that needs his clothes and she explained to customer service that all his christmas items would in the truck. Now they have no furniture, only a few clothes since they sent most of their clothing on the truck. They have to sleep on the floor with no blankets, no furniture, can not cook christmas dinner. Will have to eat out because they have no dishes.
Please DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, they are thiefs, liars and frankly not very nice once they have you committed to using them. I am filing a complaint with the attorney general and the better business bureau in addition of contacting the Department of Transportation. I also would be interested in filing a class action lawsuit.

My daughter has been through the ringer with Budget van lines.. They brokered her out to another company and finally picked up her things after three appointmants they had made and missed.. They were five days late getting her things and now they are holding her things hostage and want $8000.00 more than the original contract.. They brokered her things out to Executive Relocations.. She can get no cooperation from either company at all . She is going to go to all legal lengths to make their lives miserble... DO NO USE BUDGET VAN LINES..They are a scam company..They can and will be charged with Fraud, Extortion, False documtation, inflating the price of the move and thereafter witholding delivery of goods until she pays the inflated price. Empoyees can also be indited. There is alot you can do to a company like that and she will use every means avaliable and will never give up the fight... This company needs to pay huge fines and be put out of business..

We are dealing with these people now and I wish my husband and I would have seen the many complaints before hand. They loaded our stuff up on May 25, 2010 and set a delivery date of June 1, 2010. They never showed up so they set another delivery date of June 7, 2010 and never showed up. My husband has called them everyday and no one can give him a straight answer on anything! Count me in with that Action Suit!

I don't want to waste time telling what happened to me but want to warn you all against moving brokers, the modus of the moveing brokers weather it is budget vanlines or nationwide is a loophole in the rule book.

these guys never tell you that they are only brokers even if they mention it in their quote most of us don't understand the difference between movers and these brokers and fall in the trap.(according to rules they are supposed to tell you)

Actaully their service is to provide you a space in the truck with some moving company which relays on the empty space of someone else who reserved the total truck, in the quote there would be no mention of the actual mover or any agreement by the actaul mover.(this quote is no way respected by the actual mover since it is not agreed between you and the actual mover you cant dispute with them, if you do so you should be willing to postpone your move for at least a week they would never mention this)

In reality these moveing brokers can never keep their promises because unlike a reservation in a airline this is not seat with fixed space, so when actual mover shows up who is more loyal to the first guy for whom he had direct contract and cant deny any space for the first guy you become the victim. the mover simply says he cant take the table you were promised to move, or a mattress they claim they cant move, quote a higher prize etc etc, when you contest they would simply say you can choose not to move, ok you are thinking you have the contract the truck would say they have no contract with you and you should talk to budgetvanlines, and budgetvanlines simpley wouldnot pickup the phone at this point your electricity is shutoff your kids crying your landlord wants the keys no new mover would come immediately and you are paying for the rental car you got to move your kids/pets etc you have no choice but to sign the bill of landing which is the actual contract between you and the mover so you have no way to contest the earlier quote gieven by the broker with the mover since you agreed the bill of landing.

they charge you 175$ for giveing you a 1800 number without any guarantees, neither time date or furniture they carry.
"they lure you with a cheep quote with all the things you want and a non-refundable deposit since they know all that they are agreeing is not valid anyways".
by the time the truck shows up you must have already stopped electricity packed everything, rented car loaded everything, and ready to go, so you have no choice but to sign what ever the truck guy says and throw your furniture which wouldnot fit in the truck.
if you argue they are seasoned at that they have 20 complaints they manged to esacpe with this argument.
they would say they are mear brokers and they provided you the service, and advice you to contact the truck company for any discripencies.
the truck company simply says they have no contract with you and what ever the budget vanlines agreed is none of their business and they did what ever is given in the bill of landing.
when you say budgetvanlines didnot provide the service they would do a u turn and say they acted agent and the moveing company moved you stuff.
the actual service they are supposed to provide is the one mentioned in the quote they should match the quote given to you with a mover who would agree to do that, but they cheat but they would not acknowledge that.
you can move to court but for what? 175$
i am planning on a class action law suit soon.

Budget Van Lines missing items

Budget Van Lines contracted my move from Carrollton, GA to Kenmore, NY to Super Van Man (address unknown). My possessions were picked up on 15 July 2008 and delivered on 20 July 2008. The part of the move in Georgia went well. The movers packed my possessions carefully. However, the movers continued to Florida to pick up another household, where they proceeded to remove my possessions, load the other possessions, and then reload mine. When the moving van arrived in Kenmore (at 9:30pm a day late), the movers could hardly open the van door because my boxes were spilling out. Several boxes were upside down, spilling their contents. Every single piece of furniture was damaged in some way, and none was wrapped in moving blankets. There are at least 5 boxes missing, including two boxes filled with CDs and DVDs.

I tried unsuccessfully to contact Budget Van Lines and Super Van Man by phone. I spoke to someone at Super Van Man on 15 August, but he hung up on me after I explained my complaint. I left messages with three individuals at Budget on 13, 15, 19, and 20 Aug. One individual returned one of my messages (but called my parents instead of me) on 20 Aug to say that the dispatcher is contacting Super Van Man. Other phone calls to Budget on 3 and 5 Sept since then went unreturned. Although my contract with Budget states that any claims must be submitted in writing to the carrier (Super Van Man), I am unable to do that without information from Budget. I do not have the address of the carrier; that is why I tried to contact Budget eight times. My contract with Budget states “To find out more about filing a claim please call the assigned carrier or call us at [protected] for more information". I called the assigned carrier but was hung up on. Budget failed to return my phone calls. My contract with Budget Van Lines also states that “Budget Van Lines will attempt to resolve disputes that might arise between a shipper and a carrier". They utterly failed to do this.

Budget's estimate to move me was much cheaper than other companies. However, the value of the missing items is over $2000. This is not worth the initial savings. Budget Van Lines is completely unprofessional. Avoid them. I also wish I could submit a specific complaint against Super Van Man, but all I know is that the phone number I have for them is a New York number. I do not have an address for them, and do not want to complain against an innocent company that may have the same name.

I had the worst moving experience with Budget Van Lines moving from California to another state. I had decided to get quotes from 3 different companies prior to my move, Budget was one of them. The other two companies came to my place, gave me an in home estimate, one of them warned me of the companies giving low estimate and raising it on day of delivery. Next day I called Budget and asked them if they should send a representative for a more accurate estimate, but she assured me the estimate is very detailed and it won’t change. I even emphasized on shrink wrapping the furniture and some other valuable pieces, she still assured me shrink wrap is free of charge. Sure enough on the day of the delivery, a delivery company shows up, he starts by telling me that I am a long carry, 3 pieces have to be crated and shrink wrap is extra and right off the bat there is $700.00 additional charges to the original estimate and this is only an estimate and it can be more. I called Budget, she said if you are unhappy go with another company and you only lose your deposit (considering it is Saturday and I am flying out on Monday). On Monday I talked to one of the supervisors, he said he will check into it, I did not hear from him in 2 days, when I followed up, he was still waiting to hear from the moving company. To make a long story short, he had not contacted the moving company, he had no intention of helping a customer who was so misinformed and not given enough information to make a decisions. Please do not use them, go with the companies who come to your place and give you an accurate estimate.

I used BUDGET VAN LINES for the first time and the last ... as one writer above stated, it was and as of right now ... still a nightmare. 24days have passed on furniture they promised to deliver 2 -14 days; then through a contrived technicality they said it would be there 21days ... still no furniture nor does anyone know where it is :( They broker the moving to shabby moving companies, then abandon you when problems arise. The company they gave my job to was "ALL STATE RELOCATION SERVICES" base in Gardena, CA (Los Angeles County). Do yourself a favor never use Budget nor All State Relocation Services.

WORST MOVE EVER!
Here is the worst move ever.
Budget Van Lines LIED LIED LIED about the cost of my move. They promised and used their sale talk to get me to sign up with them and all heck broke loose after that. I was charged $1, 000 more than their quote and there was nothing I could do about it. They aren't the moving company that even moves your stuff. They hire other companies and then when the company they hire doesn't keep the quote they promise, they blame each other. My stuff went in and out of a few trucks, some of my very expensive items in well marked boxes were lost, other boxes were torn apart, it took 26 days to receive my stuff and we were forced to pay a thousand dollars more than promised over the phone. This was the most stressful move I have ever had!

I had a great experience with budget van lines. I had to post this because I saw all these posts before my move and went with them because they gave me the best price. I took a risk and it paid off. The movers were excellent and the company was so professional. I was extremely happy with the service they provided!

I don't know what to say, other than I can relate to everyone's story here. I was greeted by a man names Jordan Price Movers consultant. They were very nice until they got your money. He went into my account and wiped it out, all but $5.00 He is a crook and the bunch of them to include the supposedly "Five Star" Relocators are all scam artist. I too had all kind of promises and dates dating back to early February 2011. To day is March 11, 2011. Alex (supposedly his name) told me they packed up all my things from the warehouse in NJ and drove it to a climate control storage in North Carolina. He told me the price per month is $200.00 to rent. I don't believe this either. What I did know is, I was charged twice the amount I was told in the very beginning if I wanted my things back. Now this Company, " Five Star Relocators" are holding my things hostage, I had a 10 X 30 and a 5X10 up north where they picked it up and Alex now wants me to believe all my things are in a storage climate control in NC. I have all kinds of things that must be in Climate control. When he last called me he said I need to pay him 1, 400.00 dollars more, for moving it down to NC and another $800.00 for getting it out of storage and moved to my new place, other wise, pay him $1, 400.00 and my friends have to go and pick everything up Let us not forget, he will not tell me where all my things are, I have no address for anything as they will not tell me from day one and I also need to pay him $200.00 a month for the storage. He refused to give me the address of the storage so that I could pay them directly, he wants me to give this money to him, a scam artist. Please, Please, anyone looking to move, do not fall for this Company or any other until you look them up on the BBB. To those of you that eventually received your things, how did you go about getting them? I have told the bank and they immediately have people out there to get them. It may take 90 days the bank told me, but, they will get them, apparently my bank has never lost a case. I can't wait to face them in court. Tonight, I have received a phone call every 30 minutes and when I say hello, they say nothing. It is coming from NJ where they said their warhouse is. The number is not even blocked They know now that someone is on their trail and I believe they are trying to scare me. Others, please let me know how you handle your case. This moving consultant, Jordan Price, which I am sure is a fake name, said he was out of NY. and he calls himself " Budget Van Lines" and he hired the company, "Five Star Relocators" are just as fake.

I totally agree with all of these complaints. Budget moved us from Conneticut to Alabama. They were late picking up and 3 days late delivering after we paid for a guaranteed delivery. They also charged us a lot more than the original quote. When they delivered our stuff didn't take up a quarter of the truck. I have called them numerous times and always get told someone will get back to me and of course they do not. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and they have not responded to that either. After they get their money don't expect anything from them. This is a very unprofessional company and I would advise everyone to stay away!

Budget Van Lines Inc is UNPROFESSIONAL, UNCARING and completely DO NOT remotely come close to their "mission statement" of valuing a "hassle free" move for its customers. I can echo ALL the above frustrations, as Budget brokered my move to a bunch of thugs. My most expensive, valuable possession somehow never arrived. I have NEVER once been able to speak to NATE PARKS, Operations Manager at Budget despite being advised to by Alvin at Budget. I have spoken with James, Cindy Byers, Alvin at Budget with NO resolution. I have never had a return phone call from the supervisor at ALL State Relocation.
In fact, Melissa Lily, the dispatcher at Budget could care less about my concerns about AllState's F on BBB or numerous negative reviews I emailed her. Melissa Lily stated the obvious and uncaring attitude of "oh all moving companies get negative reviews. Don't you watch 60Minutes?" I have asked repeatedly to speak to the CEO of Budget Van Lines, Charlie Katz. However, every time a Budget Van Lines rep says he's busy, which I understand, or "he has hired us to run the business ". In other words, they seem to give the clear impression that Charlie Katz the CEO cares less, and evidence supports that he does care less!

They are the worst, they have my parents things in their truck as we speak and have said they owe them three times the amount of money they quoted them. My parents only got a quote not a contract. How people be so heartless is beyond me. To live with themselves after doing such things just makes me cringe. What recourse does one have? Anyone know? jaedejae@yahoo.com

Budget will award any subcontractor their business with no concern of their honesty or reliability. Almost every box from my storage had been opened or repacked or lost. They could care less. I plan to post anywhere I can about the awful business practices of Status Baby Transport and Budget Van Lines.

The main reason why the Web is a particularly useful resource, particularly in sourcing products including van insurance, is that you may perform a lot of tasks at the same time and at a tremendous speed. You aren't restricted by being held on the phone with a single broker or insurance provider, you can increase your speed a little and investigate in far greater depth and with better speed
