After seeing multiple job postings from this company, I decided to apply for several that I knew I was more than qualified for. CareerBuilder.com sends you to the comapny's website to apply where you then enter your personal information and resume. It also asks if you are currently in school, which was odd to me. After not getting a call for an interview (I understand that the economy is bad and I am competing with numerous applicants) and not receiving so much as an email confirmation that they had received my information and it was being processed, I decided to email them (since all their phone numbers are automated systems). Still no reposnse. After suspecting their site might be a scam. I did some research online and discovered I wasn't the only one to feel this way. Other complaints were similar or that the company had called only to ask about if the applicant was interested in going to school and not even mentioning the job applied for. I suspect that since they don't have a real phone number (as most real agencies do) and they ask about current education status (most places just want to know if you finished high scool/college, not if you are currently enrolled). I also checked with the Better Business Bureau for complaints and guess what? They aren't listed as members. If you go to their Facebook page, it is filled with people asking about application status' (since no on ever gets a call back) and where they are located (since they like to stay hidden). I can't file a complaint with the BBB, but I plan on conatcting the Texas Workforce Commission. I encourage anyone else with a similar experience to do the same. If you go to career/job sites, you will notice they have the exact same multiple job postings in multiple cities. Even in this economy, it is hard to believe they have the same openings all the time. This company should not be allowed to post fake job listings so that they can pass on your personal information without your permission to online schools.
I dug a little deeper and discovered that someone can file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, regardless if the company is a member or not. You can also contact the Federal Trade Commission, the nation's consumer protection agency, as they also collect complaints about companies, business practices, and identity theft. It's pathetic that Johnson & Armel prey on the jobless and desperate in these hard, economic times. Unfortunately for us, they are not the only ones. It's a shame all those people on Johnson & Armel's Facebook page pleading for a response don't realize they are wasting their time with this company.
I googled their physical address and found a listing on Superpages.com that said their company name is "Automated Personnel Resources" and had a phone number of [protected]. The gentleman who answered the phone said this was a residence and he has had the phone number for quite some time. Interesting...
They just called me today asking me numerous questions about online schools. Absolutely no mention of the job I had applied for. Once I told them I wasn't interested in going to grad school, they quickly hung up the phone. The BBB should be notified on this company and the site should be terminated immediately. I also find it odd that my bank called me about fraudulent and suspicious activity was found on my credit card on the SAME day these people called me. Stay far away from them.
**SCAM/TELEMARKETING** The company is J&A Staffing & Consulting (United PRO Cleaners) which is proving hard to find. The [protected] listed on their site results in info for United PRO Cleaners in Dallas TX. A search for their [protected] number returns no matches in Yellow Pages. Neither does the [protected] they give you to call when you've given the last bit of info for your left kidney. Before knowing all of this though, I applied for a position through their website (which sucks). Once you submit your "left kidney"'s worth of info, they instruct you to call them to "verify that the info in your application is correct". The best thing that gives them away is that when the (cloud (i'm betting)) agent comes on they say the interview will take up to 45 mins. Well, why did they only spend 5-7 minutes on my qualifications and are now on to giving me the "time share" style sales pitch on educational opportunities? This company is a waste of time and a crock of bull malarkey.
Thanks for the heads up! I was wondering what happened to my application. I posted for several jobs on their website and never received a confirmation or response. When I am on a job board, I make sure to post my resume information on the company's website directly. I recommend everyone do the same to avoid scams.
There's so many companies that pray on people's misfortune. There's two other companies that I've found not to be legit called C4 Connections and Internet Project System. I wish the best for everyone out there looking for a job. If there's a company that you never heard of, make sure you research that company before you submit your resume. You never know if your resume is being sold to a third party.
i was also asked about school and i said yes and they forwarded to me their sister company to descuss going to online school at kaplan university. Now the job hiring might be a scam but the people i spoke with at kaplan were not and gave me an email from the school. But the same day ironically my computer got a virus and i had to delete that user on my computer just to ge rid of the virus. I have got a similiar virus in the past.. its the one where it tells you you computer is infected and suggests you buy the full version of some spyware that is a made up name. And it doesnt stop it juss keeps giving you a pop up telling you this and if you hit yes or no it pops up again two seconds later.
Who was the sister company? Do you know their number? Who is Kaplan Paying to annoy the hell out of us?
Applied to a Receptionist ad. At the end of the application, I was asked to set up a time for someone to call me. I received a text message that morning to remind me of my phone appointment, which I was now to call them at [protected]. I did not call them back because it seemed odd. This was one week ago today. This morning I received another text message from them asking me to call them to discuss the Receptionist position. I did. When the call center lady answered the phone, she knew who I was by their system information. She asked if I was 18 and a legal US citizen, standard questions. Verified address, phone, and email. Whatever. Then she asked about online classes for free. I said I wanted to finish my degree and thought about online courses. She said she would still forward my resume to their client. I was then transfered to another company "Education Connection" where they talked to me for about 30 seconds and transfored me to Kaplan University.
What a waste of time. I applied for a job got transfered to about 30 different people all trying to get me to SPEND money (not free, like I was told) on online courses at Kaplan.
I'm 100% positive this is not a staffing company. They might be hiring in their scam/call center but I wouldn't know.
Grrrrreat. I got my hopes up and lost sleep over a possible job opening in a dream job... My phone interview is in five minutes. I really hope you all end up wrong... but the fact that this opportunity seems too good to be true, I'm not expecting much NOW. Thanks y'all. :( Will let you know how it goes!
And basically.. in the process so far.. my situation is identical to mab815's. Same everything except the number I'm supposed to call is 1.877.779.3188.
Called them. I listened to their hold recording for 11+ minutes and no one ever picked up the phone. I know that Apple One Staffing is legit so I'll try to go through them instead.
The bait and switch for online schools.. Please don't get your hopes up for a job, they have none to offer.
It's a scam, it has to be some type of internet Spamming that is in your computer that makes you fill out the information. The people from the schools that are calling have no idea that this is going on and obviously they are paying this "COMPANY" and they are just trying to get as much information from as many people as possible and fwd it as the schools probably pay for each contact.
I'm so glad I viewed these complaints before wasting 45 minute of my time reviewing information with these people. They sent me a text about a position that I applied for, I called them back, and they said it would take 45 minutes to go over some information. I asked the person on the end, "why would it take 45 minutes to review my information?" He said that he couldn't discuss it. Now, after reading these reviews I won't waist my time. Thanks you guys!
Yesterday I received a call from a "company" in which I applied to as a receptionist.Same thing, the guy asked me if I had 45 minutes as the "interview" would take that long He asked me what I thought about continuing my education...(just completed school)...I said no thank you...he kept asking me if I would like to advance in my education. I kept saying no thank you...I asked him"What about the job I applied to?" He said nothng and then he hung up. This is Truely a scam and I feel disgusted that there are scammers out there working hard on hurting those (us) wo are truely trying to find a way to make an honest living and are on our computers day in and day out looking for work in these very hard economic times. Maybe carma will prevail.
I just reported them to Craig's list, which is where I stumbled upon them in the first place.
Very true you guys, I applied for multiple positions with this company. Now that I look back atmost of these job posts seemed to good to be true. Not only did they had a great pay, but some would also state "no experience required". Be cautious of this following ad, it seems like a scam too:

OMG! I had an appointment today at 1:00 pm to call them. For the last hour before 1:00 pm I felt something like I shouldn't call them. I thought it was funny that they didn't have a address so before I called them I looked on this site and saw all these comments. I'm so upset I really need a job and had my hopes up high. They shouldn't do this to people. Everything everyone said was true. They had good pay I found them on Criagslist I made an appointment the texted me to call them at 1:00 pm.
I received a text message this morning from them. I had set up a interview time with them for 9:30 this morning. It was for a position for a medical records clerk. I am so glad I took the time this morning to check them out. I am livid now knowing that they are a scam. It hurts that they would do this to people. I have been umemployed for several months and I though for sure that I had found the right job. Thanks for writing in about this. I will not be keeping my interview with them today. :(
If everyone agrees this is a scam, then maybe to entire lot of you should consider clicking the "Report" button when you see a job post by them. I believe if enough people report them, it may help to shut them down.
I applied to one of their positions online yesterday and they asked me to schedule a call back time. I received a text this morning reminding me to call them, which I thought was odd, but whatever. I googled their agency and came across this. When I called, she knew who I was, I had to verify the information on my application, say if I was 18 or older, if I was a citizen and blah, blah, blah. She then asked about my college, I told her, she asked why I did not continue, I told her that they only had online courses available and I was not interested. I found it odd that she would ask such a thing, especially after seeing this site, so I told her I came across some information on the web and I heard she's going to sign me up for online courses and I just let her know right away that I was not interested and she didn't bring it up again. She said I met all of the qualifications, she'll forward my info to the hiring manager and if he's interested, he'll give me a call. So... we'll see how it goes...
I ended up getting a text from some 5 digit number telling me to call them when I can with a provided number. The first thing I did was research the company (as I do before every interview.) And I found this website. Kind of made me mad so I called the number and a lady picks up the phone and asks if this was Seth. (my name is Seth of course.) I was a little blown away by that but whatever. Then she goes on to say that we were going to go over some information about my resume and some applicant information. I stopped her and said, "before we go any further I just wanted to say that I researched this company before I called you and all I can find is that it was a scam, can you tell me otherwise?" She went on to say that all she knows is that she needs to get the information from me to submit it. I told her "well thanks anyways but I'll stop there." So I slammed the door in her face (figuratively) and heres the number I called! Someone get these people in trouble...

Just so you all know. I worked for a company that used the Johnson and Armel name. The company is called the Internet Company they are located in Orlando. They claim to have legitimate job posting on there websites

as well as 100's of others all with the same website layout so watch out for that. I got paid to convince you that if you go back to school that you would have a better chance of getting the job. Once I realized what I was doing after only 3 days of training I was going to my boss to quit and he promoted me which was not really a promotion cause i was on a commission basis. Once you agree to call the 1-888 of 1- 800 number to get info about school I would get a $15 commission for each person that did it ...
Do not fall for any of it ... It is a scam ... The Internet Company is a successful SCAM !
I have applied for 2 positions with them and only had the call them appointment that was set. So I called at my set time and the CSR said, "Mary" I said "yes it is" and he proceeded to verify my address, phone number etc. and claimed they were forwarding my application and resume to the supposed employer and the call was over. I sure hope they are not fakes. From all these comments they remind me of Apple One staffing. They are not to be trusted either.
I filled out an application and they had me call to do a follow up so they could "place me" with a hiring manager. They said that I was qualified and would send my resume on but then started asking me if I was interested in school. I said no, and they said okay. Then after a week with no calls for jobs I called back and they went through the whole process again, which leads me to believe that they didn't save the info from the last call. They're just trying to get people enrolled in their online schools. They are a huge scam, and they should be shut down.
The problem with reporting them is I only see their ads on indeed.com and they don't have a report button. Maybe on careerbuilder, or hotjobs, but not on indeed. I encourage anyone who sees their ad on a site that can report to do so.
I too applied for the bulls*** and something told me to look on their website for more info when I hit the search butten this web site was the first opption to come up. I found it a little fishy that the job I applied for was a Medical Office Clerck and I needed no experience(OMG). I'm glad I decied to check this out before I gave them anymore info at me . I THANK YOU SO MUCH and I got somthing for them tomarrow @1:00pm
Thanks for the heads up. I was applying for an Animal Shelter Office Assistant in Arlington, Texas through Resume' Book 360. They said the client company was Johnson and Armel Consulting. Being from Arlington, I knew that didn't sound right. I know where all of the animal shelters are and who runs them. I did a google search on Johnson and Armel and this was the first link that came up.
This is really sad - I had applied for a Customer Service position in the San Diego area and phone interview set for 11 am PST today! THANKS to everyone for helping me listen to my gut more this morning.
The part that is worse? I've already gotten calls on my cellphone from online educators. I just applied for this job last night!

I just did the waste of time call with them myself, such ###... It was about a delivery driver position initially but then of course it turned into the education ###...
I complained to Geebo and now it looks like they've changed their name from Johnson & Armel to Elite Staffing so be careful folks.

At like 4 am this morning I found a job for an animal shelter office through ResumeBooks360.com. It looked like a decent job so I clicked apply but then it said the employer wishes you to apply on this other site. So I go to it and it's J & A Staffing and Consulting. I did think it was weird that I was transferred to their site to apply. Sometime later today I received a text. The job was for somewhere in Oxnard, CA which should have an (805) area code. The text said

I just responded to an online ad for a warehouse/dock worker paying $14 to $17 hour. I completed their online questionaire and uploaded my resume. I was then told to call a toll-free number to complete the application process and to confirm my interest.
The man answering the phone said he needed to ask a few questions and that the interview process could take up to 45 minutes. He confirmed my name, address and contact information. He then asked my educational level. When I told him I had completed some college but not graduated, he began to ask why I hadn't finished.
He wanted to know if I'd be interested in completing my degree. What was keeping me from finishing? Then he asked if I didn't realize the value of an education. When I asked him if this was a college recruitment site or a job interview he apologized and said, "No I'm just asking."
All of a sudden our 45 minute interview ended after he asked if I was looking for full or part time work. This is obviously a scam for an online college site.
Hello fellow job seekers i have ran into these scams on NUMEROUS occasions and unfortunatedly i regret to inform that this happened to me the day before yesterday. Im all excited about the position in which i applied for when it hits me, "what company holds 30-45 minute telephone interviews?" The guy didnt ask me about furthering my education until the end of the 3 minute interview, and i declined... I think its awful that this continues to happen and I to wish you all the best of luck in finding a job in these trying times. J&A Consulting and Staffing Service at [protected] ... HOW WRONG!
I applied - just this morning - for an administrative assistant position thinking it was for this company and thought I would find out how far a drive it would be to get to work, should they "choose me" for the position after my scheduled interview at 11:30 a.m.
Well, I found this site and initially only saw one comment and thought ... "Oh, someone is upset that they didn't get "the" job." Long story short, I had printed the page saying my application was complete and called the number above it listed.
I did get a live person, who called me by name and I indicated to her my interview was scheduled for 11:30 am and I had called to see if they were aware of what was posted on line ... SCAMMERS! At this point she advised me that they were a third party company that does screening for employers. Realizing the position was not with their company, I asked AGAIN, if they were aware of what was being posted about J&A online. She repeated the same thing with a bit more "snap" in her tone and then shortly after words I was listening to a dial tone!
Two Thumbs down to college graduates, Armel and Johnson, for not having learned a better way to utilized all that education!
Wow this is the final straw for me.I have been searching for a job for the last 20 months with zero legit results. Like an idiot i have sent my resume to several companies of which i had never heard of.THIS IS A MISTAKE! My phone now rings off the hook not with job offers no no no, but with someone on the other end wanting to know if im interested in going back to school.Nothing wrong with going back to school im just not personally interested at the moment. If i were i would call myself and find out the info myself. something needs to be done, i'm sitting at home or on the road looking for a job my phone rings i get exited thinking maybe this is it ive got the call ive been waiting for imagine my disappointment when i answer and find that my time was wasted.GOOD LUCK to all out of work american's and and god bless!
I feel so stupid now! I did everything that everyone else has described, got the text message, talked to the interviewer, and after she said she had submitted my application to the employer, started asking me more questions about my schooling. (Note: she "couldn't tell me" which company I had applied to. How stupid was I to keep going with this!) I was referred to Education Advisor, and the "counselor" there found three schools with the program I was seeking. I then got calls from Ashworth College and Kaplan University. I really need a new job, and I'm very interested in going back to school, but if this is what's going to happen when I try to get info or apply on the net, I'll stick to meeting real people face to face, thanks. What is wrong with people that they think this is okay? And I can guarantee I won't be attending Ashworth College if this is how they find their students!
I wish I would have found this page before I wasted my time on the phone with this place.
