If you just say 'No Thank You' to the nice guy dropped off in your neighborhood to sign you up for free estimates for new windows, you will not have to endure the experience my husband and I went through recently. Please note, after the fact we read the reviews for the company on various websites -- the bad reviews were very similar but I will take this one step further.

****The Sales person arrived at my house on time and was in my house OVER 6 HOURS!****

After a very impressive but LONG sales presentation we finally got the price which I thought was outrageous. We were provided a "sign right now" price and a "after he left, good for one year" price. We turned him down a few times and he kept coming back with discounts that he could apply to lower the "sign right now" price. The "after he left, good for one year" price was never discounted. We are 5 hours into the presentation, we've had no dinner and had to work the next morning -- this was ridiculous. There seemed to be no end in sight, we felt like he would not leave until we signed. Finally, he lowered the price (approx $1400) from original and said that was as low as he could go and he would be taking no commission on this deal. Apprehensively, we signed - which took another hour of paperwork. As he was getting ready to pack up and leave, he said to us "If you turn around and cancel this, I will feel like you stabbed me in the back -- I feel like we are friends now." We let this comment slide unnoticed and got him out the door.

****The Cancellation Process -- HOW EASY or SO IT SEEMED****
My husband and I woke up the next morning with a bad feeling about what happened the night before. The price wasn't great and there were a couple of product items we didn't like but could probably deal with at the right price BUT the comment the sales person last said to us was just not acceptable and the was 'the straw that broke the camel's back'. The paperwork included a 'Notice of Cancellation' -- you can cancel within 3 business days without penalty or obligation by signing the 'Notice of Cancellation' form and mailing to the home office in Chester PA -- so we cancelled. We received a call from a Power HRG representative the day the home office received our cancellation form and stated they needed to set up a time to send out someone because the paperwork did not contain the 'official cancellation form' and we needed to sign another form. The representative noticed my hesitation and stated "it was not a Sales Person coming, it was a Courier with the cancellation form - should only take 5 or 10 minutes." We agreed to a day and time.

On the day the Courier is scheduled and about 45 minutes prior to the scheduled time, I noticed a car slowly passing my house and the driver looking at my house (maybe the number on the mailbox). Then I see the same car pass again about a minute later -- I see this same car PASS MY HOUSE AT LEAST 7 TIMES in the 45 minutes prior to the scheduled time and then pull into my driveway on time. I could understand if you arrive early in the area and you want to do a drive-by to check where the house is, but that was ABSURD. Anyway, driver gets out an introduces himself -- NOT A COURIER as the representative from Power HRG indicated -- but a QUALITY ASSURANCE Rep from Power HRG. The intentional LIE of having another Power HRG rep at my house on top of the drive-bys that occurred really started to irritate me. The QA Rep asked to go inside and I stated 'No, Power HRG has taken up enough of our time. We have our pens in hand and are ready to sign the cancellation form. We were told this would only take 5-10 minutes." He stated had a survey to go through - he needed to ask us questions and note our replies. We should have said 'No Thank You'. but we told him all the issues we had and why we cancelled. The QA Rep apologized for everything and said he wanted to "make this right -- to offer us another "sign right now" price - a friends and family discount price." This "friends and family discount" price was $5900 lower than the original -- and this really made me mad. To go through that 6+ hour ordeal with the Sales rep and were told he couldn't go any lower and now have this QA rep take up more of my time (15 mins now) and then offer a much lower price -- I told him he needed to leave.

Thank you to all that have read this and proceed with EXTREME CAUTION if you see POWER HRG in your neighborhood. On the sunny side, if you're patient enough and want to endure this extremely long process, then cancel and wait for the QA rep -- you'll get a much better price.

Power HRG puts its employees before its customers, and it shows.

I was scheduled to have an appointment for an estimate with Power this afternoon (10/16/12) at 4:30. The appointment was made last week. Last night I received a call saying I needed to confirm the appointment; it seemed like a waste of my time, but I thought, ok, I guess I'll just try to do it as a courtesy to them, even though I feel like they should be the ones trying to make things easier for me. So I called this morning. First I have Jeff, the founding partner, assuming that I have nothing better to do than sit here and listen to him yap: "While I have your attention, let me tell you about a few of our recent accomplishments..." The arrogance! Like his customers all have time to sit around listening to recordings of him bragging about his company! I almost couldn't believe that the guy would have the audacity to waste my time like that. Then the first actual human who answered my call couldn't confirm my appointment, so he forwarded my call to someone else... who also couldn't confirm my appointment. Then after putting me on hold, this second person informed that the people who could confirm my appointment were not available! Unbelievable! This company really thinks its customers have nothing better to do?!? I wasn't asking them for anything, I was just trying to do what they asked me to do, and they made it so difficult that I just cancelled the appointment instead.

I did have my windows replaced by Power in July 2012, and the windows themselves are fine. But I do believe at this point that they were WAY overpriced. I wish we had gone with someone else and saved thousands of dollars. I am not happy with this company. It seems that they really do put their employees before their customers, and it hurts the customers. If you are considering buying their products and services, please understand ahead of time that they really don't care about you, they only care about keeping their ranking as the best place to work. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere.

Power Home Remodeling group is a company that started in Philadelphia with very high window prices, they way they make money is to flood neighborhoods with marketers knocking on doors to get people to let them set an in home estimate with a salesperson. Be careful with this because once the sales person is in your home he is taught to do everything in his power to get you to sign right then and there at a price that is usually 3 to 4 times the normal price for the same work. For example in the Atlanta market a very good window price for a comparable window to their SL-2700 window made by a manufacturer in Philadelphia is the Simonton window it has all the same features and benefits. The Power price is going to be around 1000 to 1200 per window starting out before they go thru their price drops. The Simonton can be installed at around 420 per window. If for some reason you decide to buy their product and want to cancel good luck with that. They say they are sending out a currier with the paper work for you to sign its just another rep to try and get you not to sign. At this point they will probably drop the price quite significantly but I find that ridiculous why not give a fair price from the beginning instead of gouging people with their high priced products. Ask one of their reps what they pay for the windows they use, its about $130.00 per window. Also they will tell you their installers are all Power employees they are not they are subcontractors. The window isn't made by Power its made for them. Most everything the sales rep will tell you in the home is false, not their fault its just they way their taught. The turnover rate at Power is absurd, almost every week they hire 10 to 15 new sales persons, lets see they have been in Atlanta for almost 3 years so that would mean they have a couple hundred sales persons. Nope they cant keep more than 15 or 20 at any given time. Just beware with this company.

My experience with Power was terrible. I am usually very hesitant to EVER fall for the 'free estimate' offer from door to door salesmen, but I fell for it this time. The initial door to door rep "Matt" was actually a nice guy. Said it was a 'simple' estimate, and we were not obligated to do anything. Red flag #1...He then looked at my 18 yr old roof and said 'It looks pretty good, you probably don't need a new roof, so the estimate is good for a year". Yeah right. I know I need a new roof because of it's age. Why would he say that? To make me feel comfortable, and I fell for it. Let my guard down and signed up for a 'salesperson' to come on Monday morning. I made it very clear that I needed them there by 10am because I had a busy afternoon with work (I worked from home that day) and "Matt" said it wouldn't be more than 45 mins to an hour. Done by 11am with a free estimate. All sounded pretty good to me at the time.

Monday rolls around and I did get a courtesy call advising me the sales person was 'stuck in traffic' and would be an hour late. At least they called to tell me. However, the salesperson did not arrive until 11:45. 1 hr and 45 mins late. Doorbell rang, I answered and was greeted by a nice guy named 'John' who greeted me like he had known me for years...Patting me on the back, saying he was glad to see me. It was weird, but at the same time he was a nice guy. I'm very cautious and try to read people initially, and aside from the strange greeting, "John" was good at making rapport.

He said he'd take us through a quick presentation to tell us a little bit about the company, measure our roof, and 'be on his way'. That was at noon. 5 hrs later, after listening to John tell me how terrible my roof was and it was a matter of days before things would get worse, he gave me a quote of $37, 000 to replace my roof! My jaw dropped to the floor. THIRTY SEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS for my 2400 square foot house. Good grief. I actually started laughing and John did understand the reason for my laughter. I asked if a money tree came with the install and he didn't get the joke. Once I finished laughing, I told John point blank there is no way I could afford that. He then told me we could qualify for financing and for the low low price of $1297 a month, we could have a new roof. Seriously? You have got to be kidding me. John then gets a little antsy and says they have a 'special' deal that was good for 'one day only'. He took a few minutes to draw up this deal and came back with a 'one day deal' of $24, 000 for the same roof quote. A difference of $13000 if I signed up today. Now my head is spinning.

I told John I didn't want to waste his time, and we weren't signing anything today. I told him I appreciated his being very thorough, but the price was WAYYYY out of our price range.

I explained to John I couldn't afford it and then he got on the defensive and told me I couldn't afford not to. This made me a little angry, but I politely told him he didn't know my personal situation, and it wasn't his place to know. He backed off a bit, and then came back with a way to save me even more money. All I'd have to do is allow Power to take pictures of the before and after job and wal la, I'd get an additional $2000 knocked off the"One day Only" price. I told him again...No...I wasn't signing anything.

He spent the next 20 minutes asking me 'why'. I told him I couldn't afford it. He kept talking circles around me and kept asking me the same question. Keep in mind, he had been here 5+ hours and was not taking no for an answer. I finally made it very clear I wasn't signing anything today and he needed to leave. John left, we shook hands and he said thanks.

What a nightmare though. Buyer beware...Power will bait and switch you. Their sales people are smooth...John was very good at what he was trained to do. He had my attention for the first hour or so and I was intrigued. But then it got annoying. I guess I'm too nice a guy. I should have asked him to leave earlier but I didn't. Their prices are outrageous...I have a friend in the roofing industry who is a stand up guy and his price was a fraction of what Power quoted me for the same materials and labor. Beware of these guys coming to your neighborhood.

I just want to say thank you for your review and comments on this company. I, too, fell for their impressive sales pitch and the numerous discounts they offered as the evening went on and signed on the dotted line before they left my house. Once they were gone and I got online and read about them, I knew I had made a terrible mistake. I was kicking myself, because I KNOW better. I'm an engineer and deal with contractors regularly, and the crap they pull, and I STILL fell for the salesman's smooth talk. The next day I decided to cancel, and thankfully I had read your review about how they send out a "courier" to have you sign paperwork to officially cancel the contract. I called the main phone number after I had gone to the post office and overnighted my signed notice of cancellation to the PA office to let them know I was cancelling. They transferred me to the Quality Assurance Department. The representative there told me it would be no problem, and that all they would need is for me to sign some paperwork, so they would send a courier by with it. I told her I read online that it's actually another salesperson who comes to the house. She insisted that it was just a courier, and I could just meet the person at the door for a signature. I told her that would be fine, but if another salesman shows up at my house I will be contacting an attorney. I took the rep's first and last name, and made the appointment for the courier to come the following day. After we ended the call, I remembered I had another appointment and wouldn't be able to be at home at the time we set, so I called back and asked for the same rep. When she got on the phone, she told me she had spoken with her manager and had gotten authority to cancel my contract in office, and gave me a confirmation number. I double checked that no one would be coming to my home, and she said that was correct. So, hopefully that will be the end of this for me. Thank you again for posting about your experience. It made it a lot easier for me to end my contract. And I hope this comment is helpful for someone else in the same position!

I too agree with all of the comments listed before. The price of windows for our home was outrageous and unaffordable. I would need a 30 year mortgage to payoff the cost of the windows and then a loan from my rich aunt Ella. The sales person was nice but very aggressive. The presentation lasted about five hours into the late night. We simply could not afford the high prices.

"Matt" just knocked on door and tried the sales pitch to me, he saif our side of the roof is wearing and were offering free esitmates. I said "Sorry I am not the home owner, can you leave business card" (That is what I say to all door to door salesman). He replied you can go on our website at PowerHRG.Com, so once he left I went online and Googled them and it led me to this site. What are the odds that they are scamming neighbors to get a "FREE" estimate. He also got the nerve to say "We just finished a house around the corner" I walk my dog multiple times a day around my neighborhood and didnt notice any house(s) having their roofredone or replaced. . . . .BEWARE !

I would echo with the "we just finished a house around the corner" line. I then asked the sales person which house, which he had no idea.

Thank you all for posting your experience with this company. I was leaving my house and was approached by a rep who would not leave. I went ahead and made an appointment for an estimate because that was the only way I would get rid of him and I needed to pick my daughter up from school. Right after I made the appointment he said that if I was going to cancel I should tell him right now because it would reflect badly on him. That his boss would think that he could not manage a schedule. I told him that as far as I knew my husband didn't have any plans for the weekend but since he wanted me to make the appointment now, I couldn't guarantee that something wouldn't come up. I wanted him to leave a card and we would call if we were interested but he needed to schedule at that moment. The next day I googled the company and found these/your comments. I got their number from their web site and cancelled my appointment. Thank you all for sharing your experiences.

What's funny to me about all these negative comments is that there are none from people that actually went through With the projects. Being a homeowner myself I would want the company doing the work on my home to be thorough. What I love about power is they are completely transparent. They do everything with no money down. Their warranty is unlike any other company. Going with them is completely risk free. Can you get another contractor to do it for less. Absolutely. Hundreds of contractors will do it for less. But at the chance of sounding old fashioned you get what you pay for. I would rather go with someone who is a little more expensive then risk getting ripped off or have to pay to do the same project maybe two or more times. They only offer one type of roofing system and one type of window. They do it the right way the first time. If you actually listen to the whole presentation the pricing is based on efficiency. It's not a hard concept to comprehend especially if you actually listen to the information they give you. I feel like power is for homeowners who want to be informed buyers. People that take pride in the appearance of their home and see the value in getting a project done right the first time.

I’m glad you had a good experience. This is the only firm I’ve had say “we are super efficient therefore we charge double”.

Can you think of any other industry where higher efficiency leads to higher prices? I can’t. Typically the reverse is true.

You get what you pay for? How can that be when the price starts at $32,000 and ends up at $24,000 for the same job? Obviously the person who bit at the $32,000 price didn't get what they paid for.

We initially encountered Power HRG at the local annual home show. We were approached by a nice gentleman, asked us simple questions about our home, and we stated our roof probably needs an estimate, to which he offered a free estimate. We accepted this, and agreed to a time and date.

The date came, the salesman came on time, and seemed very nice. Got to know him, told him what we were looking at doing. He did some inspections, including going up into our attic to get a gauge of what had to be done.

We looked at the style and color we liked, and after some number crunching, he presented his quotation...

TWENTY-ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS...

Offered a 10% home show discount, and a buy it now price of about $19, 000.00.
Said they had a no money down finance term, with 7.5% interest rate through their bank.

Said we could consider a refinance or home equity loan to get a better rate with our own bank, and wanted us to call them right then and there to get it done.

We declined, said we needed some time to think it over, as $20, 000.00 is a lot of money.

He left, we didn't sign any agreements.

I couldn't believe the price he offered, my jaw hit the ground.

Checked around with friends... roofing should only be roughly $5000 or so. I was expecting between $7500 and $10, 000... certainly NOT $20, 000.00!

My parents are 88 and 91 years old and live in their own home. My parents met a Power HRG rep at the local Sam's club and made an appt for a free estimate. The rep was there for 4 hours and quoted my parents a $20, 000 price. The next morning dad woke up feeling much regret and decided to cancel. Another rep came to the house to fill out the cancellation form and another 4 hours later had my parents convinced their present roof was going to collapse on them with the first snow fall of the season. Sheathing needs to be replaced and some of the roof framing needs to sistered because they were cracked in half! Scared my parents into submission until they signed a contract with an additional $4000 cost for the reframing and resheathing. Next day the gutter expert shows up and tells my parents their current gutter system will not work with this new roofing system and that will cost another $2000. My parents have 3 days to cancel. Dad is convinced that getting another estimate will take too long, that the job cannot be done by a smaller crew who might need to cover the roof with tarps in case of rain: with the dumpster in the driveway my parents will need to leave their car parked in the street and well, you know how difficult it would be for mom to walk all the way down the driveway to the curb! Could be a catastrophe if she were to loose her footing! My husband is going to be with my parents when they call and cancel come Monday morning. He will be standing next to them when they sign the cancellation form, and he will be ready to call the police if the rep does not take his signed form and leave.

After scheduling a estimate on the replacement of my gutters and down spouts I come to find out that they called to tell me the job was to small to come out. Really poor representation about what they really are interested in, the bigger sale. After reading some other comments I can understand why people have negative things to say about how they operate. All they had to do was say thanks for calling but that's something he are not interested in instead of leading me on.

You guys are crazy. And your ideas of estimates are way off. For a 24000 sq ft house you can expect a decent roofer to cost 6-10 per sq ft. Sure you can have someone unlicensed come fix your roof but good luck with that, at least you will have a great deal!
I would be leery of anyone installing energy efficient windows for 400. All I can say is you get what you pay for. You can't base a sales price on what is the cheapest around - that's asinine because there is a reason that company is so stinking cheap. We have done plenty of rehabs and deal with these types of people all the time.
You guys need a spine and just pull on your adult pants and say NO if you don't want. Instead of wasting everyone's time. It's your own damn house. Stand up, walk to the door, open it and just say please leave. I know it's hard to imagine, but sales people are people too and don't want to waste their time either!

Sal Pesce better hope I never run into him. What a POS in my opinion. This is with a Veterans discounts and some other special pricing BS. This company is terrible and should never be used,

Wanna try for a class action? Could probably get a couple more of their "victims" from reading complaints about them. I say victims because that's what we are. Ask for a breakdown of prices for materials, it's like pulling teeth. I lawyered up and I'm typing up my narrative for 'em now. I took a break and thought I would peruse the internet to see how many complaints from 2021 I could find.

During the 5 hour appointment with the sales rep my husband and I decided to move forward with the gutter insulation install.  I was informed that the dumpster and supplies would arrive on Thursday Dec 10th that never showed up. Matter of fact the Project manager that came out to check the measurements said that they don't deliver a dumpster for this type of job. The follow-up appointment with the pre-inspection Project Manager was to ensure we understood the details of the project and reiterated the work that would be completed. During this time, he informed us our house was measured incorrectly; the difference in price was well over a grand, which was concerning, seeing I already signed the contract and was scheduled to have the gutters installed the next day. When I stated we had an agreed amount on the contract already signed he informed me that I would need to pay for the additional costs because they forgot to add additional wood. I declined stating we already had a signed contract. The project manager went to his truck to make a phone call. Now mind you The original date was Dec 3 I had 2 days to cancel or change my mind without any penalties. I didn't cancel. The day they came back was Dec 10th 7 days later, The same day the dumpster and supplies were supposed to deliver also the day before the project was to start. . When he came back to the house he informed me unless I pay the additional charges they would cancel the contract that we agreed on. I will never recommend this company, they are unprofessional and do not stand by their agreements or contracts.

After reading the above complaints about this Company, I am glad I did not go to the end with the presentation. I have a lot of windows in my house on the first floor alone there are 13 windows in total. After about 2 hours the young man finally gave me the price of $$ 26, 000.00 buy right now price. I never buy under his conditions and I told him that I had a Business meeting call coming in at 3:30 PM. He came at 1:00 PM. He ignored me entirely at that point and kept on talking and talking. This got me upset as he was not respecting my time at all, and he kept on talking and I finally ask him to leave. Now he was upset and left me basically with a blank piece of paper that said 13 Pella Symphony Series het shield Zen Glass fusion Welded. One year price $ 21, 314.00 totally differed from what he said prior. He tossed the paper o the kitchen table and packed up his case and left without another word. HOW RUDE, what makes any company think, that you can get people to do business with you, if you treat them so disrespectful. I never make any large purchase as such under pressure, I do my research first, do thank you everyone for confirming my suspicion, this Company is Crap. he bad talked Anderson Windows, so Anderson Windows, here I come.

Former Power HRG employee here. Worked for the company 2011. Was fired for underperformance after eight months (only time I’ve ever been fired in my life). Had a six-year track record of 60-70% sales success prior to and since.

Everything these posters highlight is absolutely true. The high-pressure pitches. The “discount” scams. The marketing “promos.” The refusal to take “no” for an answer. They take young, naive guys (mostly) and ladies (some) and have this charlatan approach ingrained in them. The “deals” are nothing but bold-faced lies. Co-CEO’s Asher Raphael and Corey Schiller are operators of the highest order. So are the regional office managers. Google online for “Power HRG Holiday Party” and you’ll see where your hard-earned money is going. Lavish pleasure cruises. Jordan Belfort would admire this bunch. Don’t believe the “Best Workplace” nonsense - it’s all from young employees eager to drive a Porsche like the company officers obtained on the backs of you and your vulnerable family.

I’m ashamed I ever worked at Power HRG. Was young and eager for a professional change. Bought the hiring spiel hook, line and sinker. Walking out of the office when they canned me, I never held my head higher. At least they couldn’t take my integrity away. I’m a firm believer in “buy nice or buy twice” and “you get what you pay for.” But there are good honest comisniee out there that offer quality with the pressure. Avoid these sellouts.

Hi Nick. Do you have any insight into possible ways to cancel after the initial contract is signed? We never signed financing docs because we suspected something was off. Now they’ve told us we’re trapped

Had a female door-knocker from them come to my Detroit area home.

The old "We just finished a job and have leftover material" BS. Run for the HILLS whenever they say that!

It was cold out and I let her talk (but didn't let her in.) She noticed missing shingles (which IS True.) Also said if I agreed to let a second person come by it would be a no-pressure presentation. RIGHT. Like they always say about timeshare shpiels.

I not only said "NO" but went on my local Hood website on facebook to warn others-she knocked loudly four times (maybe that's their protocol.)

I already got two estimates from the local boys, and will get a third this Spring. I don't need a shady company out of Chester, PA.

If you are tempted to take a door knocker job, do the respectable thing and Starve instead.

Wish this was here when I got suckered in over 13+ years ago. A whole house remodel scheme from a long Friday night pitch with a saleman turned into two replacement windows a few days later. I was strong-armed into getting them when I tried to cancel, ended up FINANCING IT THROUGH A CREDIT CARD WITH THEM, to which I later was in debt. Today they just came to my house for an estimate. When I realized who they were, I called them back IMMEDIATELY to cancel the visit. My time and money is too precious for me to waste on a bloated, high-pressure company using scare tactics to bully customers into buying anything, and is too busy tooting its horn instead of opting for true transparency with the customer. It is a shame because on the plus side, the windows aren't bad. But the experience was HORRIBLE. The take home message? BUY LOCAL and BUY FROM SMALL BUSINESS!

Hey pal. I was the rep who was driving by your house. The only reason that happened is because I got to the neighborhood early and I was driving around talking on my phone. Is that really so hard to believe? You make it sound like it was something more.

Listen man, I’ve moved on and had a really successful career. Why don’t you take this down? You aren’t hurting me, I dont work there any more. You are just making it a little harder for young guys with a tough job doing in home sales make a living.

It’s not a crooked company at all, and there are a lot of great people who work there. I’m sorry if I upset you, I was young and learning to find my way in this world. Does it need to stay on the internet forever and hurt people who had nothing to do with it all?

10 years after the initial posy and you reply with a comment to take down their post? You really need to learn to move on. I probably would have never seen this person's complaint if it didn't have recent activity on it.

It’s 2023 and they did the SAME EXACT thing to me. Single mom with kids and I couldn’t get him to leave unless I signed (about 5,000 lower btw). I couldn’t sleep all night and was so sick to my stomach. I googled it in the morning and saw so many same comments and yours was literally the exact same. Thank you posting and today I am canceling.

Same. But only 3 hours. Financing price was $25K vs $11K ! Huge interest rate. For just 8 windows, about $3k/window if financed! Only 1 window actually needed replacement. All others can be simply re-glazed for a few hundred each.

Do not invite them in. Nice guys, but a significant scam. Get a local quote instead.
