won't cancel/keeps charging after cancellation
I had received (without prior permission, nor any notification of) the FYE Backstage VIP Pass. I say I was not informed because when purchasing a few last minute christmas gifts, the clerk asked if I would like to save 15% on my NEXT purchase (notice the 'next', because there was no savings advertised for the current one) to which I replied no thank you. I guess the clerk just decided to add the card on and then after wrapping all the presents I found at least 2-3 packets of the same information, as well as cards detailing information on the VIP Backstage Pass. I promptly discarded these packets due to the fact that I had made no purchase of them (to my knowledge) and I was under the impression they were some sort of promotional product I need not worry myself with. After about a month or so, I check my credit card online statement (which should have been a balance of 0.00$, I had just made a payment) only to find that a product marked as FYE VIP Pass had charged me a total of 11.99$. I am beside myself with rage, the company CIC Triple Advantage has previously attempted to access my account for a total of 3 months in the past, and I made one complaint to the BBB (Better Business Bureau) and POOF, the whole mess was gone and I received my money back in full. I do not want to have to do this again, and I am hoping this works and clears out this charge and any further charges to my credit. This is fraud in the highest form and companies that commit it should be stripped and shut down.

horrible customer service
Since 11/15/2009 I have been trying to resolve an issue with FYE to no avail.
Issue: I re-ordered Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2. My order was canceled because they were out of stock (this was canceled several days after the product was released). When I made the purchase I used a gift card to pay for some of the amount. When the order was canceled they refunded my credit card...but made no indication they would return the money for the gift card.
I reported this to their online customer service - mistake #1. They can't read anything for the life of them and were persistant on the fact that I was refunded for my credit card... (although my issue was with the gift card)... I proceeded to call customer service - mistake #2. I spoke to this older lady named Roshelle (cause of Mistake #2). Frankly she was the most unprofessional person I have ever encountered at a customer service. She was rude... kept promising to call me back... never did... would put me on hold for 30 minutes at a time... kept forgetting to followup on several occasions... She didn't even know what the policy was for gift cards. Nobody could point me to the web page which stated that I could not throw away my gift card... And to top things off I tried speaking to her manager. Apparently her manager, Bobby only works Monday through Fridays from 4 - 6pm. Not sure how that works out. I never got a call back from anyone.
Till this day I haven't heard anything back.
The icing on the cake is why I have the gift card in the first place... It was given to me from FYE because they screwed up a previous order of mine...
It is safe to say they are the worst and I am probably never doing business with them. I am just going to keep posting complaints so the word spreads and people know the truth.
I would like to add that I filed an official complaint against Roshelle and kept getting resistance from the manager. I couldn't understand why this person was so adamant on letting me know there is no possible way Roshelle would ever be unprofessional. Well... turns out he was her son. I felt sorry for him but his mother was so rude and possibly one of the worst people I have ever dealt with.
Hopefully the complaint was filed and not sabotaged.

Its funny you mention Roshelle because I am also having a problem with her myself. I have been dealing with her Lori ( VERY RUDE) a "Manager" ( I dont think he is a manager) Charles and I am so upset with the service I have got from them. I wil NEVER order from them again!. I am trying to get a CD I ordered a month ago for a birthday present! I am still fighting them for it and I will not stop! I will call EVERY DAY until I get my money back! They will not win this fight but when I would ask to speak to a manager they put you on hold hoping you would hang up so that they do not have to transfer you. Uh.. Once I get finished with all of this I will be posting my experince on here as well so everyone will know what they are getting their self into when they decide to purchase from FYE.
taking unauthorized money from my checking account
They have been withdrawing money from my account without me having ever signed up for their VIP club. I paid 25 for the Backstage pass membership, which is a yearly charge...then they started charging me monthly for this VIP pass...which is not what I signed up for.

illegal charges
I just saw a couple of complaints against TLG FYE company on illegal charges. I want to also share that I, too, have been charged 9.99usd for 2 months now by TLG FYE (i don't even know what this is) without my authorization.
I would appreciate it if your kind office to conduct some action to sue this company and stop their operations.
Thanks,
Albert
My parents were signed up without their knowledge. As I was preparing my dad's paperwork for his social security. Is how I seen they have been being charged for 2 years. 11.99 each month which totals $287.76. Once I threaten them with legal action and wanted my parents signing something giving them permission to take money off their card. They said they could refund only 1 year back. This is beyond ridiculous. For them to even have enter my parents card info to be charged without their knowledge.
Unauthorized withdrawal from my credit card after cancelling the free 30 day trial membership. Another scam company!
who do you call? i've been charged as well and cannot even find the origin
You have to call to cancel the discount card.
I know for a fact that it's not a scam. I have that discount card and have since April. I chose not to cancel it, but I have friends that have canceled. If you call them, they will take that charge off of your card. I promise.
unauthorized debits from my account
I went into the FYE store because my son wanted to buy a cellular phone. While I was waiting for him I saw a Billy Cyrus CD and decided to purchase it for my daughter. When I paid with my debit card the cashier tried to sell me a discount VIP program for $25.00 a month. I told him NO. He then said he had something that would give me a 10% discount. I told him not to sign me up for anything. I found out four months later that he had put something through to my bank to take approximately $10.00 out of my account each month. When I called FYE and demanded the money be refunded they said they would refund $20 to the account the same day and I should request the remainder in writing. They have never refunded anything and I have had no answer from them for my letter. My bank if refunding two months because I filed a fraud claim. I am probably now looking at legal steps against FYE to recover the full amount.
Thats right several people that I know have complained and have had problems with that store.

firing 8 month pregnant woman
how can a company fire an eight month pregnant woman 3 weeks before christmas and deny accumulated vacation and sick time. supposedly a customer filed an e-mail complaint, we've never seen a complaint. was it because a pregnant woman may have been grouchy or short with a customer ? who knows ? it seems the store manager and local human relations are friends. if this is how this company treats an employee with 2+ years experience i would be careful of applying for work here and definitely wouldn't own the stock. also, i haven't seen a link on their website to file a complaint. sounds like b.s. to me.

not really knowing the full circumstances, you can go to human resource person, they are suppose to be for the employee, or you can go to web site and email the ethics and dyversti board(not spelled right)with your complaint and they will investigate it.Now weather or not it goes in your favor thats another question. In the long run these folks are usually looking out for their company!
I don't understand FYE, what company did she work for?Was it waste management, inc.(garbage and recycling company)?
Good Luck and hope the Best for yall.
what is FYE? I hate initials, this could mean anything!
I'm sure you probably didn't do a good job at FYE. It doesn't matter if your pregnant or not. If you can't sell for FYE you can't work for FYE. So you must have really sucked bad for them to can your ###..hahahahah
This doesn't seem fair at all. This is the way these big companies are.they don't care about their employees, especially the ones that make it work for the company.
What is the Company name, you didn't say.
Good Luck and I hope you don't sit back and take this with out a fight.
$ 10 hidden fee every month
i agree! im sixteen years old. I went to fye to buy my earphones & this cashier said that if i want a discount card.. i asked him if its free, and he said yes. he didnt say that THEY GET freaking $10. every month! i got overdraft because of this stupid discount card! i called fye and asked them how to cancel my card.. they gave me the wrong number! hopefully i can get my $ 40 back! or else!
im never gonna go there again! stupid cashier!

employees forced to push bsp vip
I have a friend that works for an FYE store. This company rules by a heavy hand when it comes to employees. If they choose to continue to work there, they are up against "threats" if they do not sign-up enough VIPs during their shift. This goes for the magazine program as well. All complaints should be directed towards upper management, not in-store. Pay attention if you shop there, ask questions, we all get stuck on the word "free" and tend to not hear anything else afterwards. Read the brochure, read your receipt, it's there. The employee is only doing the job that the corp office dictates.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Yeah you can't blame the employees here, theyre literally forced to push this junk, and they end up taking most of the flak when angry customers come storming in. It's really a growing problem in the retail industry moreso than with this store, you can't just buy something anymore without being heckled about cards and you can't be an employee there without having to sell these scams
I have tried a bunch of times to cancel this membership online to avoid hassle of calling and speaking to some ### who can barely speak english trying to convince me to keep acct active. It does not recognize the login info or the membership # and I did register the acct. I have even called and am now scratching my head on whether or not they cancelled it or left my acct active. I guess I will have to call again and see for sure. Don't bother with this crap it's more headache than anything else.
To bad the Corporate office does not want to hear it, , I know they are about to fold YEAH
they're taking money from me
My statement is telling me I am being charged 9.99 from TLG FYE and I never agreed to any monthly charge!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
This charge is from signing up for a discount card called the backstage pass. It comes with a free 30 day trial, and if you don't want to be charged after that, you need to call the 1800 number to cancel or it will automatically bill you each month. The 1800 number can be obtained by calling your local FYE and asking for it. The associates can do nothing at a store level to cancel, you must call yourself.
unauthorized charges
These people charged my mastercard twice at $9.99 each. I NEVER authorized them to charge my card. I NEVER gave them my credit card number. I have NO IDEA how they got my information. I called the 877 number that was on my credit card statement and spoke to 'Mary'. 'Mary' was very rude and at first, refused to refund my money, even though I explained to her that I didn't authorize these charges and I have never even heard of this business. I then told her that I would call the Better Business Bureau, the FCC, or WHOMEVER I had to call to get my refund for charges that were never authroized in the first place. She (Mary) put me on hold for 10 minutes, when she came back to the line she then decided that she would refund my money to me, only after I had to get rude and threaten them. It is absoutely ludacris that I have to fight with people to give MY money back to ME that I never even spent. I sincerely hope that something is done with this company. FYE should not be able to get away with unauthorized charges any longer! Something needs to be done immediately!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
This happened to me too! What is wrong with them? How many people have they done this to? They need to be sued
Used to work there. Was told by district manager to not tell anyone about the charge at the end of the month. People get charged when they use a card. Only use cash at FYE. They need a card to be used on the transaction to link it to the subscription.
I have been charged $11.99 since September 2021 without my consent. I never agreed to sign up for a service I have never used nor intended to use. I am not alone in this fraud. https://www.reddit.com/r/funkopop/comments/9dnp8w/discussion_canceling_fye_backstage_pass_scam/
Affinion Group is the developer for this fraud scheme. When I called to cancel the person on the phone kept insisting I keep my "subscription." I don't believe they cancelled my subscription. I have contacted my bank to dispute the charges.
This happened at the Montebello Mall in Montebello, CA
This happened to me too! What the hell is wrong with this company? How many people are they doing this to? They need to be sued
They charge me $11.99 without my permission every month almost for a year now, but I realized it only today. I never signed up for this scam!
Same happened to me, it's a relief to hear I'm not the only one. Had to stop charges from my banking account, nothing else seemed to work. Somebody needs to sue FYE, it's that simple.
Here is my beef... My 16 year old son borrowed my debit card to buy a CD at FYE. I was not with him, and he signed up for this card. (Either it wasn't explained well, or he didn't understand since he has never had his own account.) In any case, I called to complain and to cancel (along with try to get my money back) because someone under 18, using a card that doesn't even have their name on it SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED to sign up for this pass. This company is responsible for my charges and should reimburse me. They say I have to fax a complaint in writing asking for the money back. I plan to do so.
Fye vip backstage pass is a complete scam! I just called alittle bit ago to try and cancel my account for the 2nd time... the guy gave me a confirmation number that "supposedly" means I cancelled my account, but after reading everyone's comments on this matter I'm not taking any chances... I'm calling my bank first thing in the morning to make sure FYE gets blocked from taking money out of my account... and if that dont work I will have to take more drastic meausres. And also for you people leaving comments about its your "job" to get people to sign up for it... I honestly don't care if its your job or not... when someone says they want it canceled then cancel the damn account instead of keep charging them... this is just ridiculous! enough said.
They got me for 11.99 a month for almost 8 months before i found out. they did cancel it but not without a fight.
They did the same thing to me. I just recieved a bill in the mail for the backstage pass that I was never even informed about. Also I never gave them any personal information.
I also think that most of you people are ignorant in some ways. I work for Sam Goody, which is the same company as FYE. Its my job to sign people up for these 'VIP' passes. The VIP isnt owned byFYE. There is a company out there that goes to bigger companies and asks them to sport there product and sign people up for all the benefits of their 'VIP' pass. So do not blame the salesman or the company for signing you up for this thing. Blame the people that YOU are supposed to call to cancel. Its not us. Trans World Entertainment is great company! I love my job. I do feel bad for you in some ways because maybe that particular salesman didnt fill you in as much as you should have been. Its is that salemans job the sign you up for that. I have to do it as well in order to keep my job because I have a one year daughter to feed. Enough said.
You people on here that are complaining are total ###s. They got your card because you bought something with a charge card in an FYE. You get 10% off free for an entire month. After the first month free, the card is 11.99 a month. Thats' why it is presented as 1 month FREE. That should tell the customer after that, it will cost something. For them to have gotten your card and information, you would have had to give them your name, address, and phone number. You also signed off on the authorization. I signed up for the card. And I cancelled the card. Very easy and very simple. There is a lesson here to ###s. Pay attention to what you are signing up for. Read things before you sign your name. Get out of your self centered bubble and pay attention to what is happening around you. If you follow this advice, you may not have this problem in the future.
web coupon/email coupon
They had a coupon listed on their website that they were ALSO emailing at the SAME TIME. I tried for over a WEEK AND A HALF to use this coupon and each time I entered the coupon received the response that the code had EXPIRED, even though 2 hours after trying I would receive this SAME COUPON in an email to NO AVAIL. I searched for a number to call with NO LUCK. AFTER ALMOST 2 WEEKS I reached a live person, who told me in the "fine print" they could change the terms at ANY TIME, I likened this to being in a store with a sale sign up and walking to the register only to have them take it down when you were half-way to the register OR halfway through your transaction. THE NITWIT on the phone did not process this so I asked to speak to a SUPERVISOR-wouldn't YOU KNOW IT THEY WERE ALL UNAVAILABLE. I called back later and spoke to a ROCHELLE, she made sure I knew here name was ROCHELLE because they have a Rachelle there and she told me they had been having problems with this coupon for SEVERAL DAYS! and had NUMEROUS CALLS and she KNEW THAT IT WAS WRONG that they were NOT HONORING THE COUPON BUT WHAT COULD SHE AND HER SUPERVISOR DAVID DO? FALSE ADVERTISING? ETC... She said wait till another coupon comes up, YEAH RIGHT! The store employees ARE NO HELP EITHER. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE TO ENFORCE THIS COMPANY WITH STOREFRONTS ACROSS THE US TO FOLLOW THE BUSINESS CODES AND ETHICS PRACTICES THAT ALL OTHER BUSINESSES ADHERE TO. By the way, days later that coupon was still being emailed out. FYE YOU ARE A JOKE and I tell EVERYONE TO SHOP ELSEWHERE, eventually you WILL get the message that YOUR SCREWING the customers is ILLEGAL and you can not get away with it!

vip card
Went to Fye bought 2 posters when I payed I used my debit card the clerk says hey do you want to check out our Vip club all we need is your email and you get 10% off I said sure told her my email got 10% off was filled with joy...I check my bank statement 2 weeks later and they have started to charge me 10 dollors a month every month on the card witch I used for the purchase never did I sign up for this or agree to be charged they just started it without my permission I called and canceled it and what do I see next month anouther charge on my account for 10 dollors for Vip FYE club. So I had to go down to my bank in person fill out a forum for fraud and cancel my card to stop any other purchases...what a pain in my A$$

unauthorized, unexplainable monthly charges on credit card
About five months ago... I signed up for the VIP membership at FYE music store in the mall and they made it sound so easy. They said the first month is free. after the first two months you get at $20 gift card... after the first few months it costs $11.99 for the monthly fee. ok ok... sounds easy right. Well first of all the 10% discount on all purchases isnt worth it. you need to spend about $120 dollars in the store to make the in store discount even worth it, which isnt even worth it lol. i figured i would try it out for at least a couple months and in the end i would at least get a $20 gift card, which i didnt even get! well... i dont shop at FYE very often maybe once or twice a month. so i decided i would close my account there. i thought it would be easy to close... but they dont let you close your account in the store. well i lost my membership card... and they said it would cost 6 weeks to get a new card. but you need to have your membership number to close your account over the phone...which i didnt have the membership number because it was on my card. which i had to go online to find the phone number to the company. they dont have an option online to close your VIP account. so i called the number and talked to someone who barely spoke english... and told her i wanted to close my account... I SAID NO when she asked if i wanted to keep my membership for a lower fee... i clearly said NO. and i found a month later they charged me 9.99 on my debit card... they over drew my account with out my permission... my bank then charged me 35 for the overdraft fee... it wasnt even worth it. all that hassel... not worth the time
It was your fault. The small little paper explained that tour card was going to be charged and you signed it..next time read before you sign
Same thing happened to me! I was asked about the VIP card and I said sure, he told me it was a month free and that I had to register my card to sign up after that... with that said, I don't normally shop at FYE, I think twice in 10 years... anyways, 2 months in a row I noticed I have been charged 11.99! I DID NOT ever register my card, so how is this taking money out? I don't have the packet they gave me nor the card, I threw them out when I cleaned my car because I only wanted the free month... And the guy who said he works for FYE, may I suggest that you tell your district/regional mangers that they need to have better training in selling the VIP cards, because from the looks of it, I'm not the only one who got scammed.
Actually the additional discounts for the card may be useful. The $11.99 a month also gives you 1000s of coupons nation wide. Khols for example gives you 15% off online purchases with the card. My parents just save $300 on a Carnival Cruise. You also get credit card protection as well.
I cancelled mine, because I only wanted the one free month, but the point is you have to READ the agreement.
yeah, this is ###. i am livid, i will write a formal complaint to the company and then to the better business bureau.
I agree with shizzdashizz. When my uncle and I signed up, they told us it was 100% free. They never said anything about cancellation or how much money we'd need to spend per month. All they told us was that we'd get discounts. That was it. We signed up, thinking "ok. works for me" and then WHAM. I'm reading the instructions and rewards crap on the FYE mini packet they handed me, and it says 11.99 a month! A MONTH! THAT IS SOOOOOO NOT WORTH IT! FYE needs to make that statemen more clear! GOD!
This is an absurd complaint. I am an assistant manager at an FYE store and I can tell you that it was your fault for signing the agreement. Yes I said agreement-this is required so you can't sue the company. Your account wouldn't have been activated without your signature. The company gives you two slips to sign when you sign up for a VIP. Your signature is required when you pay by debit/credit (as most places require) and one for the agreement. Also- shizzdashizz you are lying. We are NOT allowed to offer VIP's to minors. If we enter your d.o.b. in the system it would reject the clerk from signing you up. This is obviously done to protect the companys ### from lawsuits as well. Get with it people. Seriously...
i agree! im sixteen years old. I went to fye to buy my earphones & this cashier said that if i want a discount card.. i asked him if its free, and he said yes. he didnt say that THEY GET freaking $10. every month! i got overdraft because of this stupid discount card! i called fye and asked them how to cancel my card.. they gave me the wrong number! hopefully i can get my $ 40 back! or else!

broke contract
I had went to their site and seen a preorder option for The Beatles Mono Box Set limited edition. I agreed to accepting & paying for the order when it was scheduled to ship which was 090909. 090909 passes I see it's still in process, I email them they said they didnt have the items. didn't have the items? Did they oversell the items? Many people I have spoken to since recieved their orders with no problem Fye.com & wherehouse.com which is owned by Trans world Entertainment did not deliver. A couple of days later I see a charge on My card for almost $1, 000, huh? Item never shipped. Like most places you order from they don't chage you until item is shipped. I was charged that friday and that sunday it was never shipped but charged. Emailed company, no response? Charge is still there not pending or was I credited back. I filed a complaint with FTC & now I will call my bank and explain it's a fraudulent charge. I am not a lawyer but, When an offer is given on a website that promises to deliver such in such by such in such time & I commit to their offer I believe there is a contract, they made themselves obligated to take a payment from me & deliver that item in a timely matter. Fye.com & wherehouse.com failed to meet the obligations they took. I cancelled their backstage pass before I am to be charged but from what I see posted her as above I will notify my bank to not accept any charges from the parent company nor fye or wherehouse.com. they belong backstage where they are not seen to ripoff another consumer...at the least be fined, $10, 000 would seem fair. How low can a business go, I just found the lowest I have seen in decades. the company should be put out for trash collection & If I were you I wouldn't support them with any business, they should be out of business. Only found complaints after it was to late from now on I will be more careful & let anyone I know my experience.

unauthorized charges to visa card
After noticing that we were illegally charged 9.99 for 4 consecutive months, we discovered that after using an online flower delivery service, TLG FYE illegally obtained our debit card information from the flower service via a pop-up window and began charging us for a subscription we did not order. After some investigation, we further discovered that this company has a history of scamming people.
Beware if you ever see the company name of TLG FYE-VIP which is allegedly a subscription service to receive discounts on entertainment tickets, etc. They are boldy performing illegal billing practices.

I bought one CD, was given a discount of $1.50 on it. The clerk threw in what he called a free discount card. Saying you can get a discount on this and that. I was offered a VIP pass for no monthly fees and received a book of coupons.Couple months later I find there is a $9.99 per month and the associate in the store told me, " Well, I don't know why she told you that, so call headquarters and they may or may not refund your money back." All this with an attitude of too bad so sad, we don't know how to apologize.

It's really easy to cancel if you register right from the start. You just access your account on the website and click the "Cancel" button.
I was told that I would have 10 percent taken off the price that i was paying if I signed up for the card. I was also told to go online and fill out the information to register my card and after a certain amount of time, I would receive 20.00 or something in a couple of months. I did not go on line to register my cared and now i see $11.99 coming out of my account, reoccurring every month and they say it was authorized on 3/5/15. I wasn't even there during the month of March. Who authorized it? I made the purchase in January!
Never signed up. Cancel this membership! I am on disability!
In my case, I was flat-out lied to by the cashier (or, at best, misinformed)... She told me that the card itself was a 30 day trial and that IF I WANTED TO KEEP IT, I would have to call within 30 days to activate the paid subscription, not vice versa. Sure enough, I went about a full year with some unknown charge on my card every month, until I finally figured out it was FYE... 2 years and about 20 calls later, they still refuse to cancel my card. They've stolen close to $300 from me, and since the only nearby FYE closed down long ago (good riddance!) I never even got a chance to use the card! >:-( This pisses me off on so many levels...
Hey, can anyone tell me if and when I'll get the $20.00 gift card I mailed in for? I've been a member for over 2 months now; however, if I don't get this gift card soon, I'll be on the losing end of their special offer. Maybe I'll just call them and find out what's going, but I'd still appreciate some feedback from anyone who is willing to offer it.
and MexGalo84 the number is on your billing statement its [protected] and once you get the machine just press "0" and it will connect you to an operator... you will have to give the machine your last name but it only takes a min. and remmber if they say they cant refund you thats [censor]! You can almost always get a refund from things like these
AHHH I delt with the same issues as most of you they told me i could cancel within 30 days to avoid any charges and then month after month i was charged $11.99...i called 2 more times after that to cancel and they just rambled on about the deal but told me it was canceled...by the time i was charged the 3rd month i was furious i called up and was a complete [censor] and got through to the supervisor Thomas. he refunded me all of the money i was charged and canceled the membership for good. it suks that you have to be rude and crazy to get through to these people but do it! goodluck
Anyone know what phone numbers to contact actually person not on the machine? Since its charged as maxed out over 400 bucks on fye card without my knowledge.
When you want to cancel, be certain you have your cancelation number. I did not have one after I canceled and then I was charged the next month. When you call, be certain to say you are canceling immediately and that you do not want to be charge. You will probably have to repeat yourself a few times.
AEE131- I completely understand. I'm not offended. :D Like I said, my post was aimed at the original poster- I thought it'd be understood, and I'm sorry to have gave you the wrong impression. And as far as whose fault it is... Well, it takes two to tango. I know whenever there's a long line of customers or it's been a long day, I tend to fly through the script offering customers things like the V.I.P., especially when I'm 90% sure they're going to say no. Unfortunately, trying to make things easier on the customers you think are going to say no anyway sometimes leads to confused customers who say yes, despite being unsure of the terms. It's a horrible catch.
Anyway, if anything, I feel like it's been a learning experience to those who signed up for the V.I.P. without being 100% on the terms, and they'll help others not make the same mistakes they made. After all, that's partially what this site is for, isn't it? :]
missing movies
Let me start by saying that I loved this store... Which is why I didn't think it would be a problem getting a gift card from them in exchange for some CDs I sold. I ran into problems when I moved and even after asking the sales rep at the store specifically if there was a FYE store nearby my new residence I found out there wasn't.
Then I used the gift card online to order some dvds. Which because of where I live are apparently "undeliverable"
I tried to cancel before they were shipped but it was too late. It was litterally like the next day. Then the slow e-mail response led to me not realizing the dvds where undeliverable until what I'm fearing now is too late.
I've e-mailed FYE today but am not really expecting anything to come from this. I've still got the gift card with some cash on it. Unsure when or where I can use it in an actual store.
Next time I'll get CASH!

worst customer service
The horror stories about fye rebates are true. Just look it up online. The number of complaints are staggering.
I made a purchase from them, filled out the rebate forms to the letter and sent them in, only to have them rejected because they're allegedly incomplete. But by the time you get that back, the time limit for returning items has already elapsed.
The truth is, rebates are a con. If they really wanted you to have those savings, they'd simply mark the difference off as a sale price up front. They're hoping you either forget to send them in, they get lost in the mail or you weren't 100% compliant and thus they can reject you. Of course, they can also lie when denying you.
The prices at this store are insane to begin with. But their rebate scam takes the cake.

Ok. Im really tired of people thrashing this company when in reality, you people are VERY ignorant! I work for this company, and let me tell you something about the rebates...It is not FYE that you have to do the rebate through, it is a third party company that you have to go through. We get paid from those companies that want to slap a rebate on selected items. The price you pay in store is all FYE has to do with it, again, the rebate is through a third party company. So how about taking you're ignorant complaint to them.
The experience I just had dealing or trying to deal with FYE.com Customer Service is shameful. Their auto response to a situation did not answer the PROBLEM.. Almost 2 weeks of emails back and forth left me with no results..
DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS SITE.. That are a rip-off and there is N CUSTOMER SERVICE.. why do you think there is no direct phone contact. The 800 number they post is just an explanation of what to do ONLINE..
Again, boycott this Business as they collected funds and never delivered the merchandise that was ordered.
On top of that FYE will hire anybody--literally! I was one of their best workers and put a lot of effort into my work, only to see other associates do a half-assed job! If you do work at any of Trans World Entertainment's stores, there's no reason to show any incentive: they don't care! And if you do work for them, switch to a better retail company! :)
I used to work for them--everything that you've said is true. All of the loyal customers at the location I worked at would tell me to throw the rebate form in the trash, being that they didn't want to wait an eternity for a $5-7 reimbursement. Horrible company...
bad service
DO NOT ORDER WITH FYE! I ordered a CD and paid extra for 2 day air (making the CD worth $16.99 cost $29.13)I even emailed them saying if they could not make delivery in the time needed to cancel my order. The order was made on the 16th and failed to arrive in time for Christmas. When I called to get a refund on the $9.98 shipping charge- I was refused by the customer service representative saying that they need 3 - 5 business days just to process the order before it is shipped. When I noted that it did not say that anywhere on their website and asked to speak to a manager I then was treated very rudely by the manager. He refused to refund the shipping cost and said couldn't show me specifically where the (ridiculous) time frame needed to process an order before it could be shipped was stated on the site & then said he did not have time to talk with me. Since a web business is only as good as their customer service (and especially their managers) I say FYE isn't worth anything...go somewhere else.

"I was refused by the customer service representative saying that they need 3 - 5 business days just to process the order before it is shipped. "
that is common. Normally the shipping method you choose at checkout online refers to the transit time once it actually leaves the facility. It does not mean the time from when you click the mouse when you finish placing the order.
Common sense.
Also, typically, and online order cannot be cancelled once it is processed.
again, common sense.
Just because you emailed them and demanded your own rules does not mean they have to make a special exception.
TWX Magazine Complaints
Got a purchase for $2.01 after signing up for "free magazines" after my purchase of a used CD.
I haven't gotten magazines, but I did get the charge.
The charge on my card was " TWX*MAGAZINE ORDER [protected]"
I called the number, and it is an automated phone sex line.
I called their customer service and they actually asked me for my credit card number, and my name. I gave them my name but refused to give my card information.
Turns out they are a credit card billing company, but say that they do not work with TWX magazine.
I hate people. I should eat them.

The store manager has no customer service skills and the store it's self seems disorganized. She wont allow you to buy a single product and you are un able to exchange a product if you recieved it damaged! It is rediculous. This store doesn't even carry the rewards card. A friend of mine bought a game system where the wires were no good and she wouldn't even let her exchange for the same product! She bought it only the day before!
As an employee of FYE, who is 100% honest with her customers, please know that some of us aren't trying to trick you. I've heard of horrible managers at stores nearby mine, and how they've had customers do dishonest stuff just to get VIPs & Magazines. But not all stores are like that. Yes, 11.99 is crazy. Us employees, know that. But we have quotas to live up to. And honestly, we sign up for it as well. I've personally never had a problem cancelling, I tend to do it online because I know the hassle of talking on the phone, but the people at customer service are just doing their jobs. They obviously have a script, anytime I've called it's been the same. But anyways, my main point is that - not all the stores are terrible, not all the employees are. I go out of my way to help customers, to help them find a movie or a funko pop. And when it comes to "selling" the discount card, I tell them everything. I let them know it's a free trial, to test out the benefits, but there is no obligations to keep it. I circle where to cancel, as does everyone else in my store. We aren't all terrible. We aren't all scammers.
It's ridiculous how much there charging for this DVD I want, How could you not have the DVD in any of your 9 locations in the state of GA, but course you only have it online. I might as well not use the damn gift card, ordering online means paying the bull ### shipping and handling that the mail service charges, I don't trust those idiots. Every time I order something, it seems to be missing or damaged. Hell best-buy has the damn thing for cheaper, bunch of idiots F.Y.E for not carrying it in stores.

Just bought an inexpensive GPC player for $29.99 that has an iPod dock for charging/playing. While unpacking, I noticed it had been opened previously, because of sloppy repackaging, but didn't pay much attention to that. After hooking it up, it sounded terrible and went to return it about an hour after buying it. There were six people in line and one person behind the counter. The clerk kept telling everyone in line he was the only one there, so please be patient. I waited about 20 minutes in line, and when I got up to the register, the clerk saw my return and asked if he could let the rest of the line (3 more people) go ahead of me. I said no, that we were all in queue, and it's my turn now, and returns don't take that long anyway. He then leaves the register and returns with another employee who will help me do the return (where was this other sales clerk hiding while everyone was at a single register, while the other two registers sat idle?) The new clerk says I will need to send the unit back to the company as it is still under warranty. I was stunned. I said the thing will cost more to ship than I paid for it, plus I only bought it an hour ago. He then told me that I had opened the box, so I had no choice. I then said that it had previously been opened because the interior packing was already messed up and re-taped when I bought it. He then suggested that I was making this up and there was no way to prove that I wasn't the first one to open the package. I then said that I didn't have to prove anything to him, and asked to speak to his manager, or give me a contact for a regional manager. He then said he might be able to get me a store credit, and said he would check with someone in the back. (And here is yet another person/clerk/mgr who was not up front when everyone was standing in line.) He returns to offer me a store credit, which I accepted but noted I would be making this transaction public, so others can be warned about FYE's return practices, and how hard you will need to fight just to get fair treatment.
Without my consent or knowledge FYE charged my debit card $11.99 for a program I know nothing about. I want my money refunded immediately!
Within the past year I prepaid for songs that I could download at later date. I might have used 2 or 3. I recently went into FYE website to download some songs, I presumably paid for and couldn't find the option to download. In contacting them about it, I got a reply that FYE no longer offers this option and that I could get a refund if I supply them with information that FYE SHOULD HAVE, not me. You would think that they would email me a notice of their discontinuing this service.
I have been charged with $9.99 two times now even after I have cancelled it! I demand it to be stopped and to be given a refund!
I just read through all 2 pages of complaints about this Backstage Pass VIP card. I took it to myself to look up what it is all about and here is what I found out. There are 2 types of memberships: Backstage Pass Platinum and Backstage Pass VIP. Platinum is a $25 annual payment that provides discounts at FYE only. VIP is a $12 monthly membership that provides discounts at FYE and other participating stores. I can honestly say that the VIP membership is a complete waste of money and a definite scam in my book. DO NOT GET FOOLED BY THIS MONEY LEECH OF A "MEMBERSHIP"!
I shop at FYE frequently because it is the only entertainment store near me. I like to buy CDs and Best Buy or WalMart don't sell used CDs so FYE is my best choice. After hearing time and time again about this great program that provides tons of benefits I decided to try the month free just to read the booklet and see what its about. After knowingly signing the receipt and looking over all the discounts I decided that same day I didn't want it. $12 a month is a little too much for coupons. Here is where I made my mistake though. I forgot to call.
A month later I receive the $12 charge and am disgruntled because I knew I forgot to call, I knew it was my fault. So as soon as I saw that I called, refused almost 5 times to keep it subscribed and got my $12 back in full. There is nothing hard about calling a customer service number and being assertive to get your money back, ESPECIALLY if its on a credit card.
Although I feel stupid for forgetting to call I'm glad I got my money back and I'm currently a Platinum member. I spent $25 in January and its already paid itself off. FYE is only half the problem, the other half is the customers for not reading, listening, or paying attention. READ EVERYTHING YOU SIGN! There is nothing wrong with making people wait in line for you to read the fine print your credit card is being linked to. That being said, I still don't support the amount of trickery the FYE employees use to sign people up for this card. I think we can all agree on that.
I was also a part of their salesperson scam...I turned it down with a Christmas purchase and realized in February there was a monthly charge to my credit card I used for payment.. It took me 3 months of being charged to get a cancellation from them. They cost me so much for their lousy 5% off. I think a company this sneaky and disreputable should be banned. I don't have they energy to spend on them or the double talking phone reps( that forced me to raise my voice) another second but I will never step foot in their store again. And you shouldn't either..
On February 11, 2015 I was shopping at fye for something for my dad's birthday. I found what I was looking for and went up to the cash register to pay. Two associates were working and the one girl calls me over to be rung out. I put my item down and she starts asking me if I'd like to save 10% off my next purchase, not mentioning that there is a fee after 30 days. I work in retail, as well. My store has a free loyalty program where customers get point for every purchase they make which can turn into free stuff. Knowing how difficult it can be for sales associates to get people to sign up, I said yes. Why would I say no to an extra 10% off my next purchase if it's "free", right? So after I said I'd sign up, she says "Yay! This will be my first customer sign up!" (oh joy). She starts asking me all of my information and typing it into the computer. At this point I'm really confused because she never told me she'd need this much, but I just went with it. She finishes doing all of that, puts all of my stuff in a bag, and I go on my merry way. A month later, though, I notice that $11.99 has been taken out of my account by fye. I had kept my receipt, so I read it over. This is when I noticed that there is a monthly charge after 30 days. The associate completely failed to tell me this, I guess assuming that I would opt out, which is what I would have done. There is even a customer agreement line on the receipt that says I agree to pay the fee if I sign that line, which she just decided not to have me sign or even show me so I wouldn't be tipped off as to what I was really being signed up for. Nice.
So today I just called the fye backstage pass cancellation number. I spoke to some guy who I could not even understand about my problem, saying that I would like to cancel so that I'm not charged anymore. He asks me my information, tells me that he's keeping me signed up so I can still enjoy all of their "wonderful" benefits (that I'll never use), that he will waive my fees for this month (so I have until May 15th to cancel now before I'm charged again), tells me to have a nice day, and promptly hangs up. I am so disappointed. If this was how I treated customers at my job, I'd be fired immediately. I am calling again tomorrow and this time I will not take no for an answer, that is if they even let me give them an answer. Keep it classy fye, not whatever you call this sad excuse for customer service.
