Bad customer service & delay of evaluation
I paid for evaluation with wes.org for evaluation of certificate for international schooling. They were quick to accept payment fee but since then nothing had been done. It wasn't until recently when I couldn't wait I discovered that not only did they send my evaluation to the wrong address, they also didn't notify me or pay the Council their evaluation processing fee, so my form was sitting out there in my country of Education, untouched until I contacted them and paid the fee and filled out their own forms. These fees was supposedly to be covered by the $160 they (wes.org) had collected from me. And when I called to complain, the customer service lady whoever she was said sorry, some school's don't require payments while others do, we didn't know they required payment or we would have notified you, and when I said I am very upset by the way my evaluation had been handled, she just kept mute and when I asked hello? I am speaking alone or is there someone else on the other side of the line? She said yes, is that all? alright great and hung up the phone!
I have never been so hurt in all my life and neither have I met with any organization so unprofessional and need I say I was on hold for over 25mins four times and the phone would go off and then I'll have to call again before I could speak with someone? Please people beware, use any other evaluating body if need be, unless you do not have a choice but to use them. Truly, it is traumatic. When you depend on such organizations in order to get your life back in terms of certification, evaluation, Education and job opportunities.
They will treat you like you don't matter as soon as you pay them. My evaluation has been delayed for 8mths now... need I say more?

dishonest, incorrect report, can't reach real people to talk to, missing information, nasty customer service
World Education Services (WES) is simply DISHONEST, they just squeeze you for money, and their reports are a scam. Any institution that use their services needs to know that they are not reliable.
My report came with unacceptable mistakes, amongst other things:
a) From the two degrees I sent to be evaluated, just one made it to the evaluation.
b) A six year program of study came back listed as a one year program, and, according to them, equivalent to "one semester of undergraduate studies"
c) They listed a class that was incorrect (read: incorrect language)
d) They arbitrarily assigned different number of credits to the different classes
After receiving the "evaluation report" I wrote a letter, detailing all the information that was missing, all that was incorrect, I provided information, and I asked questions. NONE OF THESE WERE ADDRESSED! They sent me a nasty letter, with NO signature (just like the report), not a single contact information, nothing.
In order to address point a), they responded "We do not evaluate diplomas from _____ (institution)"----They should have mentioned that BEFORE I sent in all the papers, when I sent the preliminary forms.
b) From what they say in their letter about point b), it is clear that they have NO IDEA ABOUT THE PROGRAM. (BTW, as I said above, for a SIX YEAR study program they assigned "one semester of undergraduate studies")
c) HUGE mistake, they did not apologize for this, nor did they address it in their letter
d) Questions remain unanswered
WES DOESN'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING- they don't mention their sources, they just say "WES has accumulated information on thousands of institutions" (quoted from their website), but they don't list sources.
There is not a published list of institutions they prepare evaluations for, therefore people doesn't know if their credentials will be evaluated or not. BUT, OF COURSE, YOU HAVE TO PAY FIRST! That is dishonest.
They are secretive, impossible to reach, their evaluations (as well as any other piece of communication) are not signed, everything around them is unreliable and not serious.
Some more? read below:
1. Their only office is in New York, all of the other addresses are "marketing addresses" (I am quoting the representative that picked up the phone at another "location")-- Ah, and the address in NY is a P.O. Box, you cannot walk in and talk to a person.
2. They don't pick up the phones, the waiting time is always between 20-40 minutes
3. Their "leave your number, we'll call you back" option doesn't work (you keep pressing number 1 and it just NEVER gets you to the voicemail)
4. If you ever get to talk to a person (I waited over 40 min) they just repeat they "can't give you any information", that you have to contact them in writing. I did that, you can read above.

Their website is horrendous - it reminds me of low budget airlines wanting to squeeze every dollar out of you through tricks. When I finally received my order report, it takes you immediately to the page to order a report (making you think you haven't ordered/paid for one) and thus make them more money. It is designed to make you confused and pay them more money, at every opportunity they want you to "upgrade" the report. to a higher more expensive level (just like airlines wanting you to pay for seats or more baggage).
Altogether a not so great experience. It really is a huge money-making venture, I have spent nearly $400 getting all my transcripts to them!
I contacted company and never heard back from them, I guess they don't want my business. I am so lucky!

They are a "Nonprofit" raking in $10m+ per year on this credentials business. Their CEO gets about $250k. They look pretty for profit to me.

I was applying for some of the universities in USA for MBA program. Some of those universities requires all the education documents to be verified by World Education Services. Then i called WES to find out the process. They asked me to get all my education document directly sent by institute in India. I told them i have my original documents with me and i can get those notarized from any notary here in USA only. But they want me to get those documents verified and sealed by the institute and then send them. Now, i dont understand that if I am by myself is doing all this verification process then what they are charging the big amount of money for? They dont have any office set up in india and they only rely on some format of every institute which keep changing every year. Then, by seeing no other option, i called my parents to get this thing done for me. The university was located in the different city where my parents live and they had to travel for 10 hours, had to go to the university and spend two days to get this done. Then my parents sent those documents to me and i forwarded those to WES. After not receiving any updates for 2 weeks, i called WES and took 45 min to get hold on one of their customer care representative. Then they told me the same S**t they tell every one that the format does not match to one they have in their record. I was like what the F**K is this? I dont know how older format they have in their system and i told them this is the format i got from the institute. They did not listen any thing.
Then, I asked them to return my $270 along with my documents and they refused to do that and told me that its not their policy and asked me to read their 30 pages policy document.
I tell you, WES is just a way to make money by charging $270.00 for just matching the 100 years old format of document. They dont have any office set up in different countries at all. I dont know what they are charging for if they want me to do all the verification process by myself. I am so much of disappointed because of this experience and do not wish to pursue my MDA program from those university who requires the verification process to be done by this S****y organization.

Not to say that there aren't problems with this or any other evaluation company, but...given the nature of the beast, I don't think that there is a place that evaluates that also pleases everyone. From service to evaluation methods, these places differ quite a bit, so it's really just a matter of making sure you get it done at a place that your employer or board or university will recognize. Not much else you can do, looks like.
yes, I agree with everything! I had the same experience and omggg they are horrible... I graduated in Egypt in 1984 and they want an envlope with the college seal but I have no fmily there. Everyone is in the United States and I cannot get anything like that because the country in not advanced enough to keep track of all their students esspecially from that long ago. They took $190 from me and Im not sure if ill get it back I am so disappointed but thank god I found another company that will do the evaluation with only a copy of my documents not needing the real thing (Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc.) I hope this evaluation company gets shut down very soon before they steal more money!
hey guys I totally agree to what you guys are saying... B**** WES, does not understand that not all universities cooperate. Mumbai University says that they won't sign(registrar). Mumbai Univ sent once documents, which were stamped, signed, sealed and via my friend I got it sent to WES. Their customer service people are very rude and do not cooperate in this matter. They also don't refund the fees. I wish ill luck and hope they suffer. The way they are non cooperative and talk rudely, hope they go to hell. I am going to BBB and also NY Attorney General. bad communication, delayed evaluations
I have mailed them my original transcripts for course-by-course evaluation. The same day they received them, the money was taken out of my account and I received a confirmation e-mail. I have not heard from them for a month! I attempted to call numerous times and I would stay on hold for at least 24 minutes and then finally I would get disconnected and have to go over the same staff again. Finally, I got access to the internet and logged in into my account online. It said that they were missing documents. They do not accept orininals, they require them to be mailed from the educational institution you have attended, no matter where it is and what it takes to get them after completing the school 6 years ago! The worst part of it is that they did not bother themselves to send me a single letter notifying of the their requirements and missing documents in a month! Now I have to go through the process of disputing that charge on my credit card because they refuse to refund me the money for the service they did not provide me with. Please, be aware of this company!

cheating their customers
I had submitted an application to WES-USA regarding evaluation of grade 12th marksheets to apply to UNCC.After Receiving the marksheets I got an email Stating its not in a manner specified by WES.So then i called the customer representative stating the nature of email they said that thr marksheets should be sent directly by the education board in india to WES.I said that In india its not like that.The board Gives the marksheets to School and the school gives the marksheets to Me.So i asked the customer representative to be sent to them in that way.The customer representative agreed and so I ordered the marksheets From the school to be sent directly to me.So upon receiving marksheets from india I sent it WES and now they again sent me the mail that its not in the manner specified by WES.I called again and that Useless WES customer representative again tells me the same story.They now say we cant refund your money nor they give call to their representative.I think they are not Focused on giving services just in earning some big bucks by making their customers fool.

Absolute disaster...
1/it took 21 minutes to pick up my call... gets heavy on the wallet when you're calling international.
2/they send back generic, vague and inaccurate letters by email regarding your documents, and you have no way to speak to a human to clarify. Customer service agents, when they pick up, give you generic answers and ask you to wait for another email from the evaluator.
3/They are not accepting my transcript from one of the most prominent schools in Europe. No explanation as to why, and again, impossible to get a straight answer from their phone agents.
4/I sent 4 emails on point 3 above over a period of 3 weeks through their archaic website and no response whatsoever… to date.
5/where in our era can't you upload documents online? Well at WES... they only accept mailed photocopies, which obviously leads to additional cost and delays.
Not to sound pretentious but I lived around the world, emerging and mature countries alike (I'm originally from WES's hometown!), and I was convinced that banking sector in developing countries had the worst costumer service... Well, WES proved me wrong. I will make sure to share a piece of my mind with my institution that allows WES to enjoy this monopoly, which certainly encourages their complacency.
I’m still hoping WES reads my emails, gets the point and turns around my evaluation in the next week. On the bright side, I have everything documented, and should I miss my Master's degree application deadline because of their painful (aka 'kindle in the eyeball') service and unsubstantiated refusal of my transcript, I will not hesitate to file a case when I move back to NYC next month. Judging from the widely spread discontent on the web, it will not be that difficult to have joint lawsuit case...
Piece of advise to WES: turn your business into a profit organization if you have to, but for god sake's, PICK UP YOUR GAME. I would love to run your company for couple of years…

I requested to cancel my application and have them to send my transcript back to me, however they refused. Awful and the worst agency I ever dealt with since I moved to the USA since 2000.Lot of hidden policies, horrible customer service the only clue they can help with is to hang up the phone also managers or supervisors careless about clients convenience or shows any serious actions to get things donefor ex:(since last week till now waiting for a manager her name is Rana to call me and till now heard nothing from her and every time trying to reach her they will give any lie in order not to talk to no manager or supervisor although this is a very important right for any customer), no recorded complains.I applied to evaluate my credentials from The University of Alexandria one of the oldest universities in the world on July 18, 2013 and I read their checklist with the required documents I sent all the required doc. 3 times and up till now they still claims the haven't receive my transcripts with the grades although I sent for them 2 times in sealed envelope from my school and asked them to provide them in person they refused as there is no walk ins also I asked them to send me a copy of the documents they had so I can figure out what's the problem so it could be solved they also refused . they are scam bags who like to take your money which BTW is one of the highest services cost and offer no clue, no service, no customer protection policies, no refund policies, slow processing although they claim on their website it only takes 7 business days to get the evaluation done, waste my valuable documents, which took long processing to issue from back home, with a very cold blood and irresponsible attitude and waste my time.
I had been so stressed, being treated very unfair from this agency and I wish no one got trapped in the same situations please go get your evaluation somewhere else Globe is way better.

I agree. I had similar experience with WES. They take your money in advance and once they have the money they will not respond to your emails. There isn't a contact email for them other than a form that you can fill on their website. These guys are crooks. Do yourself a favor and get your evaluation done somewhere else.
non receipt of certification
I paid for my educational degrees to be certified by WES in September 2008. On 31st October, I received an email that my certification was completed and the copy has been mailed to my mailing address in Toronto.
It has been 6 weeks now and still have to receive the same.
Despite regular reminders, the WES is yet to resolve this error.
My bank has been debited yet the service has not been provided yet.
Perhaps someone higher up can react and resolve the matter.

I'm from Argentina. I submitted all the documents to Wes for a certification. They asked me that they need the certificate for the Ciclo Basico Comun. The problem is that when I enter to the University of Buenos Aires, the Ciclo Basico Comun did not exist in 1983(it was established later, in [protected] I guess). Did these guys have any idea about the work that they have to do?
Beside I called them, I they wew totaly unpolite. I DO NOT recommend WES. Do not waste your money!

It is very unfortunate that I have to write this letter to all of you, because of the lack of professionalism in the customer service department at the New York office. After reading your mission statement and the statement of the professional staff you have and the services you provide are clear and easy to understand, is quite the opposite I am experiencing. I find this very disturbing for a not for profit organization and the rules and regulations you are suppose to go by.
My name is Wolfgang Busch, I am 53 years old and I graduated from the Realschule in Heppenheim, Germany 30 years ago. I decided to go to College for political science at the Empire College in NYC and therefore I need my graduation document approved by your organization. Unfortunately Empire College only accepts WES evaluation which is part of the problem (no competition), and explains the unprofessionalism I am experiencing with your staff; Sheri, Elyse and Ballyn at customer service.
Miss Ballyn had the nerve to lie on the phone to me accusing me that I mailed the document from Germany and not the school, when I asked her which document she was looking at to back up her statement, she couldn�t answer the question.
Originally I wanted my final dental technician graduation document also evaluated by WES, but the inexperience and unprofessional action of your customer service staff was the reason why I couldn�t deal with your staff and I faxed a note to your office to forget about the dental technician evaluation and only evaluate the Realschule school report.
Of course that caused only more confusion with your staff member Miss Ballyn, because she couldn�t understand what exactly I wanted to have evaluated now. At that point I took baby steps with her and I asked her, ok, how many faxes to you have in my file and please read them back to me. After repeating myself and a wait, I actually got her to read both faxes to me. At that point I also learned that she couldn�t articulate any word right and again the unprofessionalism of your staff was quite impressive and I wonder how this people get this job. I corrected her pronunciation and finally she understood what the fax was about and which document I wanted evaluated. For the first time I felt something was clear by all parties at the same time.
Let�s not forget, every time I call customer service it takes between 15 to 20 minutes to get somebody on the line and than I have to deal with THAT. If I was running my business like this I would be out of business a long time ago.
Miss Ballyn was lazy and unprofessional, she spoke to me without looking at my documents, because when I asked specific questions she had no answers, such as: You are accusing me for mailing the document from Germany, what information do you have that states that. I wasn�t in Germany at the time when it was mailed to you and if you look at the envelop, you can see it was mailed from Germany, she told me that she doesn�t have the envelop and couldn�t back up her lie, yes this is a lie, lets be clear about that.
After waiting on hold for 20 minutes and than I have to deal with those incompetent people is very frustrating. The fact that WES has exclusivity to evaluate graduation documents for certain colleges such as Empire College, ads to the staffs arrogance and attitude. At the end I was told by Miss Ballyn that WES has to look at my entire file again. I guess to evaluate ONE document is a mayor undertaking for your staff. I asked her when I can expect the call back, she told me at the end of the day. Surprise, maybe not, well she didn�t call me back, I was sitting at home for 2 hours waiting for her callback wasting my time. Can I expect some compensation from WES for this lost time, lies and incompetence? Today is Thursday late afternoon and she still hasn�t called, 2 days later, nothing, nada. Great job ladies and gentlemen.
When I spoke to Elyse, she also couldn�t be clear with her instructions, she put me on hold to talk to the person doing the actual evaluation for clarification. Make a long story short, I requested to talk to the evaluator direct and cut out the incompetent middles women, speaking of customer service representative Elyse, she told me that she can not connect me with the evaluator, it is against your policy, great policy, keep the confusion up and running, god forbid you put a policy in place that would actually be helpful to your customers. I asked her if I could speak to a supervisor and she told me that she was the highest ranked person on the job, wow what an organization you have there. At that point I hang up on her, because I couldn�t bare another minute on the phone with her. Elyse called me back the next day and told me that it would be ok if I send a fax explaining that the name of the institution has changed and that I didn�t have to go through the school in Germany. Maybe I should hang up on them every time, maybe I can get done what needs to get done faster. Of course when I called back Elyse if she received the fax, she told me, no, and I had to fax it again, great staff you have working there.
Every time I speak to a customer service representative I get a different answer and different documents are requested. Mind you that I graduated 30 years ago in Germany and no original documents are on file at the school. I mailed my original school report to my parents and they took it to the school to make a copy and mail it out to WES.
I would appreciate it if somebody could look into this matter with experience in this field so I can move forward.

It has been seven months since I started the evaluation process and I have not heard anything from them at all. Their customer service department are just so rude to me each time I call; refusing to discuss my personal information that I willing submitted to them with me. How ridiculous! I have written emails upon emails and yet to no avail! I this point right now, I just want my money back! Very unprofessional of them.

I needed to get verification for my education in Colombia. In order to get the documents they required I had to travel to Colombia. The Ministry of Education in Colombia simply does not do business by mail of FAX.
All original documents were delivered to WES. Then they told me that they need to confirm with the organizations in Colombia! My university confirmed but, of course the Ministry of Education has never replied to them.
Their customer service people are not helpful, the wait times to talk to someone are always more than 20 minutes. They encourage you to email them but never respond to email.
There must be some way to get this done.

Anger does not even begin to describe how I feel about this fraudulent company! No evaluation was completed even though I've paid for the service in full.Their terms and conditions are not clear as well as their application process. Managers are never available to talk or discuss any issues that you might have with them and in order for you to phone call to be answered you have to wait on the phone 20 to 30 minutes every time you call. I also had my evaluation done by WES and they misled my evaluation by 30 credits. They don't tell us what standards they use in order to evaluate the transcripts. I sent them back a copy of all my documents addressing the supervisor as they tell us to, but I never received an answer, neither a explanation nor a phone call or e-mail. They completely ignored all my attempts to communicate with them. I ended up paying again to have the same evaluation done by another institution. What stinks is that universities still use this service and think they are a reputable agency. My advice is to tell the university or programs you are trying to apply about the terrible service that WES provides. Show them the complaints and web sites that testify your arguments and ask them to review this agency. The American Dietetic Association told me to keep them inform about the liability of this institutions because they want to make sure they are directing people to a reliable agency. They are the ones who will investigate, but our job is to tell them as much as we can. It is WES responsibility to keep a good service other wise they should not be in business.
I have to completely agree with this complaint! World Educational Services WES is one of the worst companies for credit evaluation. They simply try to take advantage of those who got their education out of North America. They have the worst customer service and a non refund policy which is a fraud, this company wants to steal people's money even if they do not deliver their service. Advice: stay away from this company and contact the Better Business Bureaus if they try to cheat you. The ministry of education in my country refuses to send any documents to this company through mail until the company send a formal letter requesting such documents which this terrible company is refusing to do. I cannot believe how any reputable college would recommend such disreputable company for degree evaluation, it is a shame. What a waste of money and time.

I totally agree with Sonia. I'm having the same problem with them now. I have been trying to contact them through phone, they never answer. I tried the e-mail and it is the same story. Those people are unbelievable, they charge lot of money for copies of the evaluation and their costumer service is totally unacceptable.

I submitted an application to get my college grades evaluated by WES in December/06. Paid the $175.00 in required fees, got the original documents sent directly from my college in Brazil ( 3 times) and never got my evaluation done because WES claims there is one translation missing-which they have the original, but refuse to fax me a copy to take to the translator.
Because of their poor ability on handling information, I missed an opportunity to get benefits from 'Tuition Waiver Program' from NJ Government and when I complained with WES representative, I got a careless bored sigh.
Wes takes from 3 weeks to a month to answer e-mails, their phone lines take too long to be picked up when they do pick up at all, and their representatives make clear your contact is unwelcome.
At some point I had customer representative Raymond state that they actually have all the documents requested. And a few days later, when I checked the progress of my evaluation, I was told by Cust/rep Candice that they DON'T have the referred mysterious translation. But she wouldn't tell me exactly what it is to be translated, and my college in Brazil has no clue what could be, and she wouldn't fax me the document, because I'm a third party between WES and the college in Brazil. Excuse-me! My husband called them to try to get some help; Candice wouldn't let us talk to Raymond again or transfer our call to a manager, and said she would have to disconnect us to get other calls.
WES is completely careless about their customers, and don't acknowledge their services are important in peoples carriers.
WES has by far the worst customer service I ever experienced, and I feel disrespected and neglected. I can't get the service I paid for for, I can't get my money back and I can't get a straight information to help me solve the problem.
This market need some competition badly, because a company with WES low level of services should not, should not stay in business any longer.

I paid additional money to WES for expedited delivery of my transcripts to the school. But WES not only lost the package ( delivered to a wrong place) but also never refunded the additional amount ( for expedited delivery).
They informed that although I did full payment to WES for the delivery, If the package is not delivered I should talk to UPS.
My question is, if they want full payment, then that's OK, but if package is not delivered, I need to follow with UPS. Why?
Even if I take that. When all know that there is a delivery issue and even WES admit it. then also they are not returning the additional payment I did for expedited delivery.
Since in the whole mis-management, I did lost critical time and I paid additional to get the package delivered next day and not after 15 days.
Their customer care is also horrible. You call and you get one advice. disconnect and call again, you will get another advice.
I request all of you, if someone has a better option to go with than WES (Infact there are plenty), please go with them. Otherwise you will lose your money, time and energy just trying to follow up with them.
(They never inform you. You have to proactively check every details.)
It has been more than 4 months since I applied to WES for my certificates to be GPA evaluated.They never tell you what exactly we need to do.They tell you send certificates in chinese thus we get our certificatd verified in chinese and they say to do in english again, They will make you pay more and more and its all waste of your energy and time.Its the worst institution ever to deal with.I should never have consulted this institution in very first place.

I am in the US and its been 22 days and my evaluation report has not arrived yet. They claim (email correspondence) that the delay must be at a post office because they have sent it. Their courier service is outrageously high charge $80. Now I am wondering I was probably better off using the trackable courier service. Do you guys suggest that I order duplicates by courier?

WES is a complete fraud. They claim their procedures are to ensure the integrity of their service, yet it's really to obfuscate the process once you have given them your money. They emails are cryptic, if they even respond. It takes 20 minutes or more to get to live person, and even then you have to wade through the red tape.
If your college/university offers any other choice, take it.
WES is the worst! It will take you forever to reach customer service. They claimed to be a non-profit organization, but they overcharged everything. $12 for a piece of envelop to send to a school two weeks after, the school have not received the documents yet.
I WILL NOT RECOMMEND WES to everyone.

WES.org is the worst evaluation agency. You can spend over 1hr on hold just to get to some rude customer service worker. E-mails have automatic electronical reply services with no follow-up. Quick to collect your funds from your account with no services. I had to resubmit the same document to transcript research who has very good customer and efficient services. To prevent stress run away from WES.
