I worked for Aflac for 4 years. I was a National Convention qaulifier amongst many other fancy awards.
I had to quit this company because the way we were enrolling people for a large account I had was unethical.
When I left the company, they people in my upline apparently defamed my name and made up lies to make themselves look better. What a shame. These people were teaching us how to do this type of enrollment and then had the nerve to say the meanest things about me when I decided to walk away from their scam. The client called me up to tell me what they said.
We are currently sending our complaints and seeking top notch representation.
Aflacs main attorney is trying to swindle his way out of the defamation part by stating State and Regional coordinators are independent contractors...but we all know that isnt the 100% truth. Aflac appoints these folks to leadership roles and tells them to soley represent Aflac. Then these individuals are to go down to our accounts and take them over when we leave. Then they go and destroy an agents name? they cost me a job because of the crazy things they said. My name is now tarnished in this business and they think they can just step all over me? not going to happen.
We are going to the department of insurance and are considering making signs and marching outside since Aflac did not want to take responsibility for the damage they caused.
good luck folks- stay away from this company. It is a strange pyramid. The attorney we met with last week was too expensive. i am meeting with a different one in Atlanta tomorrow. Aflac will be exposed.

My name is Frank Collatt. I am from Abbeville, Louisiana, and I also have had my share of problems with AFLAC. I now have a retained attorney who is investigating claim(s) of AFLAC charging a Premium based on your Gross Pay, yet when and if benefits are paid out, they want to drop your "units" to your base pay and/or lower. Then they hold payments for a long time before they actually pay them out. I am not alone with this complaint, and I also know several people that worked for AFLAC, and have heard their horror stories during their employment, as well as after they left AFLAC.

My phone number is [protected] ClassAdvocate if you will be kind enough to call, maybe we can assist each other with these matters. I also was mis-led, and remain 100% disabled. You may call anytime between
8am and 10pm central time. I will be more than happy to discuss this matter with you, as well as inform you as to who my attorney is. My attorney has also talked to the State of Louisiana Insurance Commissioner, as well as other attorneys, and I do not plan to drop this matter at any cost. Thank you

Sincerely,
Frank Collatt

I am also seeking an attorney to represent me in a wrongful termination suit based on an implied employee/employer relationship (though we are deemed independent contractors but if in management not treated as such) against Aflac. Any assistance in providing name(s) of an attorney firm that has successfully won a court case or out-of-court settlement in such an action would be greatly appreciated. I can't leave details here as if they get wind of this, my contract will be cancelled and renewals terminated, as is their standard practice if/when someone complains of such treatment. Please help.. anybody?

First of all AFLAC does not charge according to your wages, if you are referring to the disabilty policy, you are eligible to purchase units based on our annual income before overtime. If they lowered your units it is because you did not give your correct annual income. When you file a disability claim our emplyer has to fill out a claim form which asks what your base salary is before overtime and if it is less than what AFLAC has on record then they will lower your units to coincide with your income. I am just commenting on what you wrote, if there is more to it let me know. I too live in Louisiana and I am familiar with all of the policies that are offered in this state by AFLAC and this compaint that you have written about can only pertain to the disability. I would get all of your facts straight before filing complaints and lawsuits. Also, if you were under the assumption that you could be covered by disabilty to include your overtime income the one to blame is the agent that signed you up, they must not know that they are doing or didn't explain it well enough.

I worked for aflac for a year in marriottsvile, and i enjoyed making big $$$, but i got to the point were i was seeing these poor old people that im trained to enroll and seeing their struggling eyes.. I want teveryone to know that AFLAC IS A SCAM.
We are trained to tell people about fake claims, and FAKe insidences that supposedly occured "the last holiday" and everyone is trained to say the same thing, so people start to think about it amd we hand out fake diagrams and fake previous claims that the potential customers start believing after a preasuring presentation..
so a lot of people end up signing up a for that we are telling will not be submitted untill we get an answer the next day, but the agents enter it anyway and make it all finalized.
then they are telling everyone that due to an irs law, they can not cancel for a year and they are locked in. these customers try to get out, but they are locked in because they employer is worried about the irs laws and does not let them get out of it. their only way out it through termination..
PEOPLE, IVE been there, and DONE THIS
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I DONT KNOW HOW TO MAKE THIS MORE CLEAR
they pay out, but 80% of the things are not covered once it actually occurs.
and yes some people do get a nice payout, but that was a 1 time case in the year that i worked there, and bu the way, I worked in the STATE headquarters and out office was #1 in thge country.
sorry for the grammer erroe, just typing on a lunch break at my new office job.

I don't know who your State Sales Training Coordinator was, but I have never heard another agent speak about his Aflacexperience with stories like yours. First, most first year agents don't make alot of money. Second, we are never encouraged to lie or make things up. Aflac has a fraud unit, and if you experience or know about fradulent activity, you are supposed to report it. I'm surprised you didn't do that since it is on the agent website and there are often postings to remind agents of their ethical duty to report fraud.

An Aflac Agent lies! I was an agent for this company. While being trained, I worked with an agent who would do anything to sell a policy. ANYTHING. There is a specific exclusion in AFLAC's policies regarding auto racing. He would tell people it only counted if you were racing for money. I called AFLAC, and they said it applied even if you were injured as a spectator walking through the pits!
Sexual harassment is common in this company. Just ask the former SSC of Iowa, who was sued by his admin for sending her naked pictures of himself. How about one of his former RSC's who was alternated between telling his admin she was so fat he was going to send her to Weight Watchers, or that she didn't wear clothing tight enough to show off her t*ts.
AFLAC stinks! Run away from this company as fast as you can!

Reading these stories makes me laugh. This scenarios can be ANYwhere... law office... doctors office... police station. By golly, we have sexual harassment EVERYwhere! Regarding the unethical writing of business, that is ridiculous. As agents under our State Dept. of Insurance, we vow to NOT write shady business. Why fall in with the rats and go with the flow? Report them! That is what you are suppose to do! Are there unethical agents? Of course! As there is crooked lawyers, corrupt cops and shady politicians! You all make it sound like AFLAC is a shady company where all corrupt and liars work! Get real people! We are held to a higher accountability of ethics. If you see it going on, then REPORT IT! Our SSC does NOT tolerate unethical practices. Do we fame always? No. Do we win against other States? Not always! But our business is flawless, our policyholders are taken care of and we are able to sleep at night. Aflac is an ethical company who want ethical agents! And regarding their claim paying, I have seen them pay BEYOND what the policy states. Why? Because they can!

The complaints need to be made toward individual coordinators/agents. Not AFLAC. AFLAC is a great company and has been an unbelievable experience for me for the year and half I've been with the company. Are there unethical people within the organization? Of course. But the company? Does the right thing. In my opinion you are defaming ethical agents which are by far the majority, at least in my state, which is Tennessee by the way. All businesses have a pyramid structure of leadership. Pyramid has a negative connotation because of the schemes that circulate where people just pass money around. This is not a pyramid scheme just like other businesses are not. Look, selling AFLAC is no different than other jobs, it ain't for everybody. I along with many others are making an honest living doing it the right way and just supporting our families and working hard. It would be nice if people didn't try to hurt others because of their inability or sour grapes or whatever it REALLY is.

My name is Sonia Lewis and I have been an Independent Agent with AFLAC since 2009. During this time, my Regional and District coordinators changed frequently and the level of leadership was very questionable. I was one of very few people of color, specifically Black and I often wondered why. There is a "good old boys system" within the leadership structure and with agents. There is a lot of stealing of accounts and no legitimate assistance for helping agents build their book of business. I was sold a dream that is far from possible without the right structures and support from upper management being in place and investing time in agent development. I want to sue AFLAC or at least my local organization who has managed to push me out by serving me with a 30 day notice, not once but twice. The new management has used unethical and unprofessional methods to communicate desired outcomes to agents, specifically veteran agents. I have a lot to share with an attorney who can sift through a lot of information that has transpired over the past 8 years. From racial biases, gender biases to basic general practices like but not limited to taking account from new agents and so much more. I need someone to listen to the litany of issues and complaints that I witnessed/experienced first hand. I can be contacted at sonialewis37@yahoo.com
