Jonathan Builders review: Awful experience 1

I hired Jonathan Builders and regret the day I ever heard their name. They apparently already had numerous complaints against them with the State Contractors License Board when I hired them. I knew nothing about this. Yet their sales presentation was slick and professional. They even provided written references of "satisfied" customers including a recommendation from the League of California Homeowners. I am out over $5, 000.00 and will not be able to collect, although I filed a complaint against them. They performed shoddy work, lost thousands of dollars of granite and marble, which I paid for separately, and when some of the granite they had faced one of my fireplaces with fell off, they refused to repair it. They have had their license revoked by the State of California, and the owner, Eyal Ezra is in hiding.

I understand that 15 separate complaints were filed against them with the State of California and many of them were satisfied by Jonathan Builder's bond which now is depleted. I consider myself fortunate however, because one of the homeowners who filed against Jonathan Builders was damaged in the sum of $52, 000.00.

I probably will be too afraid in the future to hire anyone to work on my house after this experience.

Signed a contract with Jonathan Builders to have some repairs done on my house. It's my fault, I usually check out people before I enter into a contract, however, a friend used this contractor and was pleased. However, after siging, samples were deleivered to my house. I checked out the samples on the internet, only to find it was the bottom of the line. I called the salesman and received no answer. Decided to drive down to their office only to find that it was a PO Box inside of a UPS Store. Signed the cancellation notice and had it delivered that day, which was within the 3 days as stated in the contract. I gave them $1, 000.00 down and according to the contract, they were to return my money within 10 days. Today is day #19 and I still have no money. The salesman says it is out of his hands. I have since checked the California State Licensing Board and found that there are three outstanding citations on this company and two of them have been posted just this month. So after mine is posted, that will be 3 for this month. LESSON: Just because someone does good work for a friend, doesn't mean that he will do good work for you or that he is honest.
