b2.co.uk scammers and &free trial&

I am a 66 yr old pensioner with several serious health problems and I only did the free trial to see if I could find a companion or some new friends. Despite emailing them saying I had no fax to cancel and was not prepared to ring abroad to do so, could they please cancel the £149 subscription they were complaining they couldn't get out of my account? All I got was a snotty reply saying send proof via fax and they would deal with it in hrs., as I don't have a fax what am I supposed to do? Anyway I have told them to send in the debt collectors as I have no assets and don't even have £149 a week to live on! So just let them try...Steer clear they are scammers too, even the members are.

I'm in the same situation... Was recommended the site by a friend of a friend, decided to give the free trial a go, realised it was a rubbish site and emailed to cancel before the free trial expired. Got a response with detailed 'instructions' as to how to end my subscription but most of the steps in said 'instructions' did not exist. So I contacted them again, AFTER THEY HAD STOLEN £149 from my account, only to receive a similar email but with slightly different cancellation instructions which, once again, were confusing and did not work. This company is incredibly underhanded and makes it as difficult as possible to do anything other than pay through the teeth for a service that I have never used. I have now contacted my bank (Lloyds) who will refund the 2 payments Be2 took from my account and will flag any further attempts Be2 makes to steal my money. The company's name is now in their database and is now being passed on to the fraud department. So HOPEFULLY that is the last time I will be robbed by Be2... Good luck to all others in the same boat; I would strongly recommend contacting your bank, informing them of when you first tried to cancel your subscription with the site, and they should reimburse your account for any payments taken after that date and keep an eye out for any future attempted withdrawals...!

the same thing happened to me its awful i sent loads of emails and posted a cancellation, i thought that was it but the took £149.99 from my account i am trying to sort it out, but after reading all these i think i will be lucky, its just a big con .they should be closed down, how many people are being robed by them every day ? they it must be hundreds or even thousands wish me luck

Well guess what, the same has just happened to me. Interestingly i joined via Plenty Of Fish website and it was a banner advert on their website inviting well educated woman to join as their were men with high income jobs looking for partners. (are they run by the same company) YIKES. i don't feel very well educated now after being conned by this bunch of fraudsters. I took the £5 trail and after just 48 hours i realised the website was a con. As other comments have said above, people from hundreds of miles away and also by the messages they sent and descriptions there is no way they were high earners. So i canceled and like many of the people have said their website instructions are cr*p so i sent an email cancelling. Yesterday they took £149 from my account. I have contacted my bank and they for now are giving me back to payment until its been settled but this morning i have had a email from B2 saying that i DID NOT cancel my premium membership. I have had a good look at their website and i believe they are operating in a fraudulent way. I am not very hopeful that the bank will stop this payment and i determined I am going to take it all the way and report them every possible department of trade (european) that i can. I can't help but think complaints in numbers would help.

I managed to write a letter, print & sign it, scan it & email to them as attachment. I also wrote to my bank to cancel any further payments (I had paid for 6 months anyway). So how do the scammers do it, and I have encountered many on B2. If someone says 'looking forward to read from you' or want you to immediately email them, or sends you kisses from day one - they are a scammer. I led one on for weeks until he finally came up with a gold bar scam & needed money sending to a bank account in Belgium to get through customs. Police can only apprehend / track if in UK or Europe & suspect most of African origin - though they usually say work for UN or soldier in Afghanistan. They often claim been scammed themselves and sent money to a woman to pay their sons school fees & not heard from them again. Most also have lost wives & parents in tragic circumstances. So all in all I suspect B2 are not a reputable site at all. Although rolling payments seem to be the norm on most dating websites. So be very aware at all times.

I too have had problems with be2, I took out the trail membership and without me knowing they helped themselves to £149.00 from my bank, their service was useless, only sending me matches from miles away without photos, when i complained and said that I wanted the money refunded they said i had to cancel the membership to which was a no go area as i tried hundreds of times to cancel it and tried phoning them to which the number they gave me didnt accept incoming calls, I was banging my head against a brick wall, after 6 months to which i thought all was ok because the 6 months was up i got emails telling me that they had tried taking another £149.00 from my account ( but luckly i had changed my account so they couldnt get the money) and as they couldnt get it they threatened me several times with debt collectors and when i said i had cancelled the membership on a large number of times they just ignored all these comments and then they said i had to renew and pay for 6 months before i could cancel to which i have now just ignored all correspondence from them, STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY THEY ARE A COMPLETE CON COMPANY, wish we could take further action on this company to stop them conning so many people.

A message for fee75..
I sent numerous emails to customer services at be2, it was honestly like banging my head up against a brick wall... In the end I typed a letter to them stating: My user name, e-mail address and name. I wrote that I wanted to cancel my membership as from now! (with that days date) I wrote that I had followed all instructions given to cancel my membership, However, it was impossible. I also wrote that I was instructing my bank to cancel any payments. I then hand-signed the letter and posted it to 'be2 S.à.r.l. - 291, route d’Arlon - L-1150 Luxembourg' I did this by recorded delivery. I kept a copy of the original letter and the receipt given to me by the post office.
I then scanned the letter and receipt to my computer and sent another e-mail with the 2 attachments as proof of writing the letter and the post office receipt.. I called my bank and told them everything that had happened and found them to be amazing... After I had done all this I eventually a week later got an e-mail from be2 telling me my account had been cancelled... . I hope this helps you, and I am so sorry for what you are going through.. I know I've been there too.. Good luck.

I am a single parent of 2 children, I also signed up for a £5 months trial and only used the site twice as it didn't appeal to me, i never thought anymore about it until today, I went to pick up my child tax credits, and to my shock there had been £149.95 took from my account, leaving me £2, I was absolutely devastated as this was my weekly living expenses, I went home and straight away tried over and over again to cancel my subscription to which I had no knowledge of agreeing to, but as said above when i tried to find the cancel link, the site took me round in circles bringing me back to the same page over and over again, I am now going to phone my bank to try to stop this, as I feel physically sick with worry about how I'm going to manage to feed 2 children, buy electricity and run house on my own on £2, its impossible, this is an absolute disgrace, surely something has to be done about this company who pry on lonely and vulnerable people, I am actually sitting here crying as I write, if anyone knows of any help or information on how to stop this, please, please share any knowledge. I am devastated.

I too have just got caught out by b2. I have always considered myself a very careful person! I paid the £5 as asked, but decided two days later I had changed my mind.. However, I was sent an email from b2 telling me they were sorry I wanted to cancel my premium account and how to go about cancelling my account... I tried what was recommended to me, but to no avail... (I was going around in circles and could not cancel this account)... I decided that I would save the email they sent to me as proof of acknowledgement. I then got in touch with the bank and explained everything to them... They were amazingly helpful... I am now going to get on with my life.. Having learned a valuable lesson..

B2's set up is designed to frustrate and bully. They won't let up. To have any real clout against this company enough complaints need to be made to the national consumer and Trading Standards regulatory bodies in which ever country you are in. If they receive enough complaints they will be forced to act against B2. Please repost this information onto other forums and let's start fighting this company with some clout instead of piece meal with individual complaints. Here are the organisations you can contact in the UK, if you are not in the UK please find the similar organisations in your own country and post their contact details on the web.

same thing happened to me as above, i sent fax messages, emails to cancel with in the 14 days. never heard a thing.six months later they stole another 149 pounds from my account. i have contacted my bank and now they have stopped any more payements.

b2.co.uk Cancelling subscription

Like many others, I took a trial subscription only to discover months later that my credit card had been charged with no prior warning. I appealed to them to refund my subscription, as many have done, and was also told it was not possible. I immediately emailed them to cancel my subscription. However, what i didn't do was study all the fine detail of the Ts&Cs to find out that cancellations where only acceptable via fax (whatever one of those is). Immediately after requesting my subscription be cancelled, I stopped getting any email alerts from them leading me to believe I had successfully cancelled - don't be fooled! I have repeatedly asked for a phone number to call (their help desk appears to be unmanned as dozens of calls have failed to find anyone working). Then, months later, they did exactly the same thing to me again! This time I managed to stop the payment as it appeared wrongly on my statement and hence I assumed fradulent use of my card. Perhaps contractually I should not have done this, in hindsight. However, know full well that this company is relying on people faxing cancellations and ignoring plees to be reasonable, I am more than convinced now that this is not a reputable company to deal with.

This company relies on the majority of us not studying the small print. Unless you do, I strongly, strongly urge you never to deal with this company.

i also signed up last month for a free trial and saw that today they have taken the amount of monies out of my bank account i have contacted my bank but i see someone had to cancel there bank account to stop any more money coming out do i have to do that

I, too, have just discovered £149.94 taken from my current account. Back in June I paid £5 for a month but decided I didn't want to continue so I unsubscribed. I have been on to the Fraud office today and will go into my bank and close my account. What a bunch of ... (unprintable) !

I too joined b2 for an initial 30 day trial period and unsuccessfully tried to cancel after a week only to find that I could not cancel until one week before my trial period ended. I made a note of this date and when I logged on to cancel, I eventually got to download a cancellation form which had to be filled in with all my personal details, date of joining, reason for cancelling etc etc. They also said I had to sign the form otherwise it would not be accepted. Alarm bells rang then as I thought why would they want a copy of my signature if not for fraudulent use. I do not have access to a fax machine (who does) so scanned the form (minus signature) and emailed it to them. they then informed me that as I did not cancel with the 14 day period, I would have to carry on my membership for another six months. So 7 days had changed to 14 days! After reading all the comments on other pages re b2 scams, I closed my bank account. I may be £5 out of pocket but they are not getting any more of my hard earned money. Let then threaten me with bailiffs, I like a good fight!

Don't bother trying to fax the cancellation form - the fax number is out of use or not recognised! Now there's a suprise?

Further to the comments above, please note that if you contact your bank advisors, they can note the complaint and flag any other monies deducted without warning and REFUND YOU YOUR MONEY. I have taken the trouble to print off the cancellation form from the website under 'support' and will post it to the Luxemburg address as requested. A small price to pay for my stupidity in ever signing up for this scamm!

I too have just been 'robbed' by b2.co.uk, and like you had not read through the Ts&cs with a magnifying glass. The fact that there is no prior notice of monies being taken from bank accounts is disgusting business practice and i am incredibly angry at their behaviour and off hand attitude to complaints. If anyone knows of any legal redress, please tell us! I have been told cancellation can be in writing to the Luxemburg address - are you saying this won't work?
