A total scam
I bought 3 "original" paintings at Afremov.com for my daughter as a gift over a month ago. When I bought it, there was a clear confirmation that if you are dissatisfied, you can get a free refund within 90 days. Since my daughter didn't want the paintings, I asked for a refund. But after much insistence and emails, only a tiny fraction of the costs were refunded. After many emails asking for a full refund, it unfortunately remains quiet on the other side. It is a disgrace to fool buyers. In retrospect, these paintings also appear not to be original.
Recommendation: Do not fall for the scam!

Artwork reproductions
I purchased 3 framed prints from the Leonid Afrimov company online on August 3rd. A day or two later I showed images of the three on their website to my wife. Unfortunately she didn't like them. I read their return policy which states that they can be returned for a full refund within 30 days of receiving the prints but I must first contact the Afrimov company in order to return them. Over the past 2 to 3 weeks I have contacted them 8 times via email either through their website "Contact" page or directly. I have always politely asked them to contact me regarding my desire to return the items for a full refund. As they stste on their website, "customer satisfaction" is their goal. My patience has worn out. I believe that they are completely ignoring my refund requests until after their 30 day period is expired.
Desired outcome: I wish to return the three framed prints and receive a full refund

Missing frame
I was charged for and supposed to receive a recreation AND a frame but only received a rolled painting.
Invoice #128399 Jul 29, 2021, 03:50
LONELINESS OF AUTUMN Painting: Artisanal Museum Wrap on Fine Wood
I therefore demand either a refund of the excess 59$ paid for the frame or to be sent a copy of the giclee of the same painting for free (regular value 109$ with 50$ off would take it down to the missing 59$)
Desired outcome: refund of the excess 59$ /OR sending me the giclee for free
Package sent
Just received the painting ready to hang. Looks great on the wall.
I'll be sending back the other one first thing tomorrow.
Thanks.
Painting
I ordered painting from site afremov.com, on Jan. 21, for 207$, incl. 59$ frame. Then I was asked to pay extra 65 for delivery, if I want frame, otherwise, I will get refund 59, which I have chosen. I haven't yet received painting neither 59$ refund. I contacted [protected]@afremov.me. They sent a void tracking code DHL, ( shipment has not been handed over yet, no data for shipper)
Desired outcome: Cancel order and get refund

Unethical behaviour
Love Afremov's original works, certainly worthy artwork for my home. My issue lies in the way I've been given the "run around" since I decided to purchase a painting on the 5th of March. On the same day I purchased the artwork, I had a change of heart about the purchase - this happens. Same day I ordered it, I spoke to a customer service rep, apologized, and explained that I wished to cancel the order and receive a refund.
I was told she couldn't help, and that I needed to email "orders@afremov.com", explain the situation, and ask for the order to be canceled and charge refunded.
First email I sent was on March 6th, second on March 8th. Still not one word back from the company, not even an acknowledgment email. I have, however, been pestered with multiple emails selling other artworks in the meantime, of course.
Very unpleased with the process. It's a simple request, and they seem to be dodging it or simply unbothered by my plea for a refund before they ship the painting out. Within a few days, I feared this was a scam of some sort, and after researching, I am FAR from the only customer to have issues like this with Afremov.com. At this point, I'm assuming they are doing everything they can to avoid my request, so they can get the painting shipped out and then claim it's too late to refund it, hoping I'll just let it go.
Not the case - if I don't get an answer soon, I'll be disputing the purchase and contacting the Better Business Bureau. This is wrong.
Desired outcome: Cancellation of Order and Refund
Fraudulent and scam company
We recently found that the paintings sold us as a recreation by Leonid Afremov, was not done by the artist. The family should have multiple canvas signed by Leonid on the back of the blank canvas, and the studio stuff make fast, low quality recreation, when the order received. Smart scam - no overstock plus orders prepaid and money received. Would you believe that the artist made a thousand recreations of his own works, yet in the different sizes to spend his lifetime?!
We were waiting one and a half month from the order day to the shipping date. David Afremov lied us that the reason for a delay of the shipping is low number of stuff. When order finally came, we noticed too many discrepancies with the image posted on website and a very different colors. In addition, the shop that stretched a canvas, told us that the paint is very fresh, it was notable despite of the varnish put on canvas to hide it. The recreation looks OK from the far, but at close look, you can clearly see the fast, low quality work. We have the original painting by Leonid Afremov, bought seven year ago, so we can clearly see that the recreation done by another hand.
After our review on Trustpilot, the business contacting us. First, they tried to advance us that we did not read the description correctly, and they never said that we ordered the recreation done by Afremov. After we provided the description came with our order, Afremov.com offered a refund that we agreed to. They promised to return money in 5 business day, but they did not. On every inquiries, the 5 days refund promise in moving to the later days. Totally scam business. We want to get our money back and let the world know about this scam business and prevent people from buying the colorful junk.
Charles, thank you for your comments and advise. We realized that painting is fake after we stretched it. Afremov.com asked us to return the "art" in order to provide a refund. Since we already paid for the stretching, we framed the painting and donated it to the local nursing home. We've got several thankful calls from the administration of nursing home, admitting their residents are enjoying our gift. This fact makes us to feel better about our sad story. We received 50% refund after I posted a review on Trustpilot.
Honestly, I think this business should be reported to the Attorney General Office, but, at the same time, I know that nobody will spend time to investigate it, because of insignificant financial harm, plus the business is operating from Mexico. Do you know if there is any professional organization for the artists exists? If yes, they might help to stop this scam.
Too sad to realize such a business exist. It seems like a signature on the back of canvas is real signature of Leonid Afremov, and I am very concerned about it. If I am correct, the artist knew about the family plans to sell the fake "art" under his name and promoted this plan.
I love his art. I have more then 10 of his paintings.
Just for a small amount, he brings joy into my home.
Unless you spent thousands of dollars on his art, a few hundred dollars is not enough for you to put a negative mark on his legacy.
Be kind. We all will need kindness someday.
Who cares about his legacy if we are being cheated by his family? A small amount times 100's of people cheated is not I consequential.
I first saw 'em on Twitter, and asked, quite reasonably, where the original of Farewell to anger was hanging as I thought for that price it must be a print, and I was blocked !. Now I know why. [censored]ing scum bags.
While I do not discredit the OP, it is in their website that they recreate the art. In truth, most of the masters of old did this as well. They taught their apprentices who often completed parts, or most, of the works, a, yet they technically belonged to the Master. In the case of the Afremov's, it isn't as if they want to scam you, they just simply are not as good as their Master, father, was.
Wow thank God I read this... I really wanted a print or something. Which I thought these were prints more so and possibly had been signed by him...But after reading these reviews NO WAY am I buying a replication of his work...:(
I had the same concerns as well... but they do let you know which pieces are print, originals, recreations, etc. On each painting on the website it will have something in the descriptive text, like 'Oil on Canvas by Afremov Studio' (recreation), or 'Oil on Canvas by Leonid Afremov' (original painting), or 'Print on Canvas' , etc
There are people with obvious concerns about shipping issues, import taxes, etc... but I think the ones who are upset about many of the paintings being recreations, were just not reading the website clearly.
Some of the recreations, where parts of the color are muted to B&W are just genius when paired with Afremov's style.
I bought several ’original, framed, signed front and back’ Afremov canvases at the end of 2019, soon after the Manspassing was announced. All have COA as painted by (not created) Leonid Afremov. One is a accented Black & White like you’ve described.
I think I’ve been truly ‘shafted’ since I spent inheritance money on my collection thinking these purchases to be a wise investment.
I got scammed didn’t I?
It’s not a scam since the website clearly spells out that the reproductions sold are done by students of Leonid, and the Afremov family owns the rights to the signature they are authorized to apply it to the reproductions.
You haven’t been scammed. You just did what most Americans do: skip over reading anythinf and jumping directly to the shopping cart.
An authentic Afremov might sell for as much as $16, 000. What idiot would think they could buy an original for $180.
I own a 40” reproduction of his Grand Canal portrait. It’s lovely. And I display proudly because I’m not someone who pretends to be able to afford an original from any artist of any renowned and then complain because I didn’t get the actual Mona Lisa.
THANK GOD YOU SAID THIS! Please people read what it says in the BIG BOLD TEXT ON THEIR WEBSITE! This company is not a scam, it’s actually rather delightful that his studio and family are carrying on his legacy and sharing his work at bargain costs so we all can enjoy it. And sorry to let you down folks, but almost every famous artist you’ve ever known has had a studio of people helping them create their works.
I bought one because I liked it. There is no way I expected to be original even though there was written that it is hand painted by Leonid. As is this one - https://afremov.com/venice-in-color-stretched.html
It is listed as "Mixed media oil on canvas painting hand-painted by Leonid Afremov, certificate provided" and selling for just $109!
I did notice that on some they state that they are reproductions but surely some are being sold as the author's work and in my opinion that is a scam.
However I still like it and think it's worth it for 109 dollars
This is not the Afremov family, it's not his "students", and they don't own the rights to his signature.
"Please people read what it says in the BIG BOLD TEXT ON THEIR WEBSITE!" - No it does not say this.
"This company is not a scam" - Yes it is. No they are not a delightful studio carrying on the work. It is just another Facebook scam. Just because it has pretty pictures and you got fooled, does not negate that fact.
"Almost every famous artist you’ve ever known has had a studio of people helping them create their works." - LOL right. Almost every famous artist you've ever known was poor and people mostly profited from their work after they died.
I don't know who's idea it was to mute parts of his painting to B&W... but it adds such a beautiful layer to Afremov's style.
Actually yes, they ARE his family, his sons to be precise. Also, they learned under his tutelage, so yes, they are also his students. Many artists have done this in the past (Cimabue taught Giotto, Bellini taught Titian, and Michelangelo tutored under Ghirlandaio., and while they were "under" them, the artwork belonged to and was claimed by the teacher artist, not the apprentice.) Modern painters do this as well, such as Thomas Kinkade. They would have their own studios, and other would learn under them, yet the artwork always belonged to the Teacher.
And yes, they actually own ALL rights to the signatures.
When they tell you it is an original limited edition signed from a collection of 25, at a minimum the artwork should be numbered. What the hell is the point of limiting to 25 when they also offer the same painting without being numbered?
I, too, ordered from Afremov. They sent me "Foggy Path". I instantly realized that this was reproduced by what I imagined was art students practising reproduction. I did not mind so much, especially given that it was an actual "painted" (as in lumps of pain in the texture and on real canvas) except it clearly lacks quality of style of the original artist. There were a few areas in the overall composition that just didn't make sense (coloured in a way that made no sense). Still, overall I accepted it for what it was, particularly at such a low price. I think of it as "a student's rendition of an Afremov work", find peace, and let it go. Incidentally, in my case when I complained about it they send me another one, and said I didn't have to return the first, so now I have two of these "so-so" reproductions. I can't decide which one's mistakes bother me less, so haven't stretched or framed either yet. I posted them here. Can you tell which is the original? Incidentally, I didn't really mean to be on this "complaints board". I just wanted to chime in about my experience. If I thought I could get a "decent" reproduction I would actually like to buy more, but I don't know what I would get.
NOTE: this site did not post all three photos, and I can't seem to delete my post now. Can I complain to the complaint's board? Hmm...
People, don't buy Originals or “authentic recreations” announced by afremov.com (or even hand-embellished by Afremov). There's no such thing for sale at that price, you'll receive a poor replica.
There’s no way a single artist would be able to reproduce his art on such a massive scale to the point where they’re still selling hundreds of "Originals" or “authentic recreations” years after his death. These promo paintings reproduce like rabbits. They're out of control.
Unfortunately I am a bit late, made my payment couple of days ago.
Check my latest post.
I also been scammed by receiving an ugly, brown sausage looking version of the RAINBOW painting of Leonid Afremov.
After this framed picture arrived I raised complaint with the Afremov family wanted a refund.
They offered a replacement of a giclee art print with texture finish of the painting, which would resemble of the original Rainbow painting. They have sent a photo of it, which showed an unnatural white colored rainbow . That was unacceptable to us, and was asking for a Refund.
After 3 months of emails to them we still not have not received the Refund, or an answer to our request. Their posted phone number is unreachable, or inaudible too.
This is not the "Afremov family" it is a scam.
I have order a painting from the official site afremov.com, since January 2021, paying 207$, for painting and 59 $ for its frame. I received then a message back, stating that if I want the frame, I.must pay more money for delivery, if not, I will get the 59$ refund. NOW, after 5 months, I have not yet received the painting neither the refund. I contacted orders@afremov.com and they send me a tracking number DHL, which is unfortunately void...!This is outrageous. ?If anyone has some experience on this fraud, what can I do to get my money back?
Painting
Ordered an "enhanced" painting, when received the colors were wrong and perspective was off. Company offered to replace with a print of the original on cotton canvas. Received another "enhanced" painting which is worse that the first. Have now paid $250 cdn for an ugly painting and duty. I appreciate that the company offered to replace it, but not only did they not send what I asked for, it took them 2 months to do it, rather than the 1 month that was originally quoted. With today's printing processes, I think a copy of the original on cotton canvas could be sent out quite quickly.
Order 64708, have addressed many times in direct email. This seems to be getting your attention way quicker that direct communication. But it would because it's a public forum (which is why I'm using it).
Hello, you've been scammed like almost all of afremov.com customers. Everything is painted at Playa del Carmen offices by any of the 19 artists they have. More experienced artists paint fake Originals and novice artists paint recreations. Scamming business is conducted by the artist's two sons. In terms of quantity of artworks, it is probably the biggest art fraud in this century.
If you want a real Afremov painting you will have to pay it between $20, 000 and $125, 000.
Customs taxes DHL Spain
DHL sent me a message that I had to pay customs taxes to them. Almost 50 euros. I had to pay almost half the price of the painting to customs. Wtf? Why do you say delivery is free? Why don't you say that I have to pay more? Maybe I would not buy the painting or at least I would be prepared to pay more. I do not know what to do now. I want that painting but damn ... I sent you an email
I received coupon for next purchase
afremov recreation painting
Be careful!
It didn't take me 2 seconds to start doubting if this was painted by afremov. Not even recreated by himself, as the seller affirms. How much of the recreation was done by the students and how much was done by afremov? I will never know.
The unaligned benches, the unfinished pole and the couple with the dog have an amateur feeling and design.
Be very careful when buying from afremov.com.
They offer a good service and sell very cheap. Tempting.
I have been following afremov for over 8 years. He inspired me to paint from the very beginning. I watched many online classes with him. This is heartbreaking and frustrating.
No. I do not want a refund. This is not about money. This is about art and dignity.
Well it seems I the exact same painting as you... did you send it back to them? I receive the exact same thing... and told them that there was no way mr afremov had painted that.. I am really curious to know if you sent this one back to them..
Hello, you've been scammed like almost all of afremov.com customers. Artist Leonid Afremov passed away last August. Even while he was alive, the Originals sold on afremov.com where not painted by him. Everything is painted at Playa del Carmen offices by any of the 19 artists they have. More experienced artists paint fake Originals and novice artists paint recreations. Scamming business is conducted by the artist's two sons.
afremov scam - dishonest business should stop
I've been scammed by David Afremov (artist's son) back in 2016 and then once again in July 2019. My case is one of hundreds.
Procedure is the Usual:
Someone purchases an Original painting. Artwork is done by artists working at Playa del Carmen offices for David and Boris Afremov. If you claim you didn't receive what you ordered they will tell you there has been a mistake and that they will send you the correct painting. New package will never arrive. If you keep insisting they will now tell you package is lost and you can keep the painting you have as a free gift. Keep on insisting and you'll get refunded and your order cancelled. This procedure works for these guys because maybe 1% or 2% of customers claim. Most of customers can't tell the difference between a real Original and a Recreation done by afremov.com artists.
Come on mate... Do you expect me to believe you will take down Original paintings from your home for $149 ?
Indeed, Promo e-mail says SURPRISE One of a King. The reason why you say SURPRISE is because customers are asking Real Photos of paintings. If you announce them as 'Surprise' nobody can ask a photo.
Some of us are aware of your scamming procedure. It took me 2 different orders and some research to understand how your business worked.
Your answer is amazing. You're telling me Unique One of a Kind Originals price is $10, 000 and up.
Check your Promo e-mail from 22/10 offering Unique One of a Kind Originals for $149.
THAT'S ONLY ONE EXAMPLE OF YOUR SCAM. You should be thankful you live in Mexico because in the US you would be having problems with justice. It's not one isolated scammed customer but HUNDREDS.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer's satisfaction.
Original painting back grin the us galleries
I ordered in 8 September an painting original. I can't choose the painting but the size I choose was 30/40 inch and the subject was landscape. After few emails with "Leonid Afremov" site, finally they send the painting and yesterday I received. Big disappointing! The size is small, half size than what I order and it's brand new, not even dry, it's cover with an plastic foil because it's sticky. For sure can't be painted by Leonid himself before he's death from Augustus... And the quality of painting is very low, is like a children play on the canvas... totally waste of money! Very disappointed!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer's satisfaction.
Hi, this is a usual scam procedure for afremov.com led by David and Boris Afremov (artist's sons).
All paintings are done by workers, artists working at Playa del Carmen offices. They don't sell Originals unless you're willing to pay a fortune. They scam hundreds of customers with their daily Promo emails offering Originals that does not exist or... that they're not willing to sell at a ridiculous price. Very dishonest guys. Leonid Afremov doesn't deserve this.
Advise: Ask you money back. They will refund you.
Please, please, provide the order id, not just post some nonce comments, you can email it shipping@afremov.com
I'm just replying to the original post, I'm not claiming anything. I'm giving this guy a piece of advise.
Grate, so please give us the order id, and we can check what was the wrong, you claiming we are a scammers, so I think we deserve to know what was wrong with your order, otherwise you doing the scam by posting false comments
You keep selling fake paintings as Originals done by your workers and me and my crew will continue assisting victims of your scam procedure. We are planing to launch a website to assist all scammed customers. Stay tuned.

Bought on 21/11/18 by Paypal. A few hours later the picture is still online or available. My request by mail (the whole time over inessa.[protected]@gmail.com):
Hello, I bought this painting a few hours ago under the Invoice-number #20596. Now I see the painting is still online/available for selling/purchase. Just to be clear: I only wanted to buy the original painting Mr. Afremov is holding on the photo and no recreation. Please contact me if this is not the case. Best regards from Germany.
Fast but short answer:
Thank you for your order
The painting is original, and no longer listed in the search of the site
No signature on the mail. But it was true. The painting disappeared from the website (but still was to find with google-search up to now (03/10/19)).
The painting did not arrive. My mail on 12/27/18:
Hello Mrs. Afremova,
is everything okay with my order (Invoice-number #20596)? When do you expect my order to arrive in Germany? I hoped a delivery before christmas was possible.
Merry christmas, best regards
Fast but short answer:
Thank you for your purchase, your order will be sent to you today
I am sorry for the delays
Leonid
To my mind: If I would not have asked again, this package never would be shipped. What kind of accounting is that?
Package arrived on 01/17/19 by FedEx. But it was - as feared - a recreation. May mail on the same day:
Hello Mr. Afremov,
thank you for the delivery of the painting. Unfortunately it is not the painting I ordered. As you can see in our conversation below it was my explicit wish to buy the painting you are holding on the photograph on your website (see attachment). Your daughter has confirmed that. But you only sent me a recreation which doesn't reach the expression of the original one. I would please you to send me the right one. Please tell me the way of transaction how to send back the current painting.
Best regards
Fast answer on the same day:
Dear Friend,
Thank you very much for your purchase. can you please send me a picture of the painting that you got.
If you have any questions, please ask. Customer satisfaction is our main goal.

I confirmed on the same day and sent a photograph of the recreation. Fast answer:
I am sorry for the issue
The correct painting will be sent to you ASAP
Please keep this painting as a free gift
No signature…and a lot of weeks no package arrived. My mail on 03/07/19:
Hello Mr. Afremov,
my painting was not delivered so far. Is a delivering-time of six weeks common or should I be worried?
Best regards
Answer at the same day:
Dear Friend,
Thank you very much for your purchase. I just checked this shipment. this package is stuck . Maybe even lost. . I have issued a full refund of your order. I'm very sorry. You can keep the painting you got as a free gift from us.
If you have any questions, please ask. Customer satisfaction is our main goal.

Operational Manager
Refund came immediately. But of course without my customs duties.
My answer on the same day:
Hello Mr. Afremov,
thank you for your fast answer and your full refund. It is very kind that you did this so fast although the package is just stucked and not definitly lost. It would be a big loss (not just for me) if this painting would disappear. A friend of mine is working for FedEx Germany. Maybe there is a way of saving this painting. Could you please send me your (tracking) informations (ID etc.) you got?
Best regards
Fast answer:
Dear Friend,
Thank you very much for your purchase. The package is stuck in the USA Memphis hub. Its a large airport, the center of all Fedex operations in the USA. From there it never took a flight to the UK. We already in contact with local fedex managers that taking care of this.
If you have any questions, please ask. Customer satisfaction is our main goal.
Best Regards
Boris Afremov
Operational Manager
My answer two days later:
Hello Mr Afremov,
did you get further information about the missing package from FedEx? For myself I was in contact with FedEx Germany and FedEx in Memphis. They told me that they are "after an extensive search ... unable to locate a package" with my name or my address sent in the last 6 weeks. Referring to this and due to the unpleasant transaction of the order so far (first: did not send the package for weeks and only after reminding, second: sent a recreation against better knowledge, third: missing package) I insist of getting the tracking-ID (or other verifiable evidence) just to keep trust in your company. Fortunately customer satisfaction is your main goal.
Best regards
Fast answer:
Dear Friend,
Thank you very much for your purchase. Since the refund was provided, this transaction is considered canceled and closed. Even if the package is found, the painting will not be delivered to you. They will have to return it here. Lost packages come back to use sometimes in very bad condition. From my experience, 50% of lost packages is found. in 25% there are in good conditions. I personally do not believe it will be a usable painting.
If you have any questions, please ask. Customer satisfaction is our main goal.
Best Regards
Boris Afremov
Operational Manager
No Tracking-ID told, because there has never been one. What other reason is there for telling it not? The painting never left their office. The last mail is a preparation for a reselling…but not to me… for this price. Reason: The company does not sell originals for 100 Dollars. That is totally understandable. But why do they promote them?
So for all customers:
If a "original one of a kind" is promoted, please insist the original one as it is shown on the website. In the end it is to expensive and pesky for the company to give away the recreations as a free gift.
Hi, I read all your post, this is a usual scam procedure for afremov.com led by David and Boris Afremov (artist's sons).

They scam hundreds of customers with their daily Promo emails offering Originals that does not exist or... that they're not willing to sell at a ridiculous price. Very dishonest guys. Leonid Afremov doesn't deserve this.
Art
I also have been taken by these people. I ordered a painting on the 4th and it never came. Each time I called there was one excuse after another. First it was drying then it had to go through customs then it would be delivered anyday. The I was swnt a ups tracking number which ups said that did not mean any thing was shipped from them. Well I am out 139.00 and no painting. What a bunch of crooks.
This company has contacted me and offered to make good on my purchase .

No delivery
Paid for the painting on www.afremov.com 6 weeks ago. 3 weeks later wrote an email to Leonid about not receiving the item. Was assured with Leonid(or whoever it was) that everything is fine and item is on the way. 1 week later emailed Leonid – same result, – “be patient”. Another week later emailed Leonid again – got answer that painting is not shipped yet, will be shipped right away, and got the tracking number from UPS. Another week later I called UPS and ask about my shipping, they said the item was never delivered to UPS facilities, so the tracking # I got from Leonid was fake (generated from UPS for ### purposes). I wish I found this complaintsboard earlier, would not waste time.
Dear friend, Hello!
My name is Dmitry, I am now in charge of customer service of afremov.com
I saw your post, that you are not happy with our company, I am sorry about that
Please contact me about this issue, and you will receive or painting or refund within next 24 hrs, as long we know the problem, we can help
My email is dmitry@afremov.com
I have ordered seven different paintings from Afermov. Yes, they took forever to get to the US (they go through customs which can take for.ever.) but once they arrived I was very pleased. We get compliments from everyone who sees them. There are lots of complaints on this board regarding this artist. I really don't understand them. The paintings, for what they are (oil on canvas of decent size and quality) are cheap. What on earth are people expecting for a few hundred dollars? An original Picasso?
If you are purchasing art to make an investment, this is not for you. If you are looking for some well done pieces of art on canvas (vs. paper prints) then these are perfect for you.
Customers warning - scam!!!

Did not deliver the product
My daughter bought a painting for a total of US$66 in November 2009 from Afremov.com. The painting has never arrived. We have emailed and phoned many times, but have been given various excuses and promises. We would like to our our payment refunded but cannot get a straight answer after 9 months of trying.
I recently ordered the "Branch Over Water" painting from the Afremov studios in a 20w x 36h based on the image of the piece that was advertised on their web page. Their first failure was sending the wrong size (requested dimensions reversed). After months of waiting they did send "A painting" with the right dimensions but it looked as if it was painted by a child and not even close to the painting advertised. They then claimed that it was the same painting that i approved (from the web page) which is a lie from top to bottom. The piece i got was absolute garbage, and they MUST have known that but sent it anyway. How his family could disgrace the good name of Leonid Afremov this way is difficult to comprehend but they did and continue to do so. There is no excuse for this kind of rip off and i advise anyone reading this to avoid these thieves at all cost. they need to be put out of business.

Buyer beware
BUYER BEWARE! SCAM!My brother and I wanted to purchase a few master embellished giclees by Leonid Afremov. After watching Afremov’s video, I called [protected] which was the number provided by www.afremov.com, and wanted to verify that Leonid Afremov was in fact the person painting on these master embellished giclees. I asked to speak with Leonid and it was his son David on the phone impersonating him! I was able to tell from the video on Leonid Afremov because Leonid speaks in the video. This immediately grabbed my attention and I continued to ask for Leonid. He put me on hold and his brother Boris Afremov picked up also impersonating Leonid Afremov. I insisted I speak to Leonid and was then transferred back to David who admitted they both had impersonated Leonid! This is fraudulent representation! This whole thing is extremely suspicious. I called several times and each time there was an excuse as to why I am not able to speak to the artist himself (on vacation, technical difficulties, too busy…etc.) So who is the person painting on the “master embellished” giclees? Where is Leonid Afremov? Why is he being impersonated? SCAM!

Upon opening the painting I purchased from Mr. Afremov, I was very disappointed to find a significant difference between what I purchased and what I received. The artistry, appearance, even the use and quality of color of the painting Afremov shipped was clearly inferior to the image he posted on Etsy. In the small print on Afremov's Etsy website, he writes that he uses images of his giclees to discourage counterfeiters. Well, his giclees look WAY better than his originals.
I did a little research online where I found the reports of many dissatisfied Afremov one-time customers. It appears Afremov sloppily renders copies of originals depicted online. Further, he sells "the original" painting on several different websites. I found this to be true when I saw the "original" painting I purchased listed for sale on another website. Unfortunately, I believe Afremov is a scam artist in every sense of the word. Shame on you.
Deception is rampant
I own two originals and one giclee. I'm happy with the artwork, but I'm afraid my investment will be a solid loss. Deception is the name of the game at afremov.com. Trying to figure out what is an actual, original painting is impossible. Some of afremov's deceptive practices are walking a very fine legal line. One of these days he is going to get sued.
Also, the giclees are a copy of an original, and afremov.com leads you to believe that there are only 25 copies of one original painting. This is not true, they will issue 25 copies of one distinct size of the original painting, and then offer 25 more copies of a different size of the same original. This goes on and on. Now we have oil on canvas paintings, which have another 25 copies of the same original painting. If you read the above comments, this is the reason afremov.com needs warehouses.
Another thing, almost all his paintings look the same. It's repetitive painting. Leonid could turn a painting out in less than 5 minutes in his sleep. Daniel Wall would probably agree. Do you remember when Leonid was claiming to be the "founder of intense impressionism"? All of a sudden every website and wiki no longer had that description. I'm guessing there was a lawsuit, or a settlement with Mr. Daniel Wall. His and Leonid's paintings are almost identical, and I think I know who is impersonating who.
Unfortunately, Leonid Afremov is destroying his reputation. He, or one of his representatives will send out a pretty picture in a timely manner, but this is a multi-million dollar corporation, not just an artist. So this is a warning to anyone who is going to pay big bucks for one of his originals. If you like the look of the painting, then buy it. Just don't expect to get anything for it when you sell it.
Scam

I am not talking about the artist wanting to talk to me or not. I am also not talking about where he lives or where his business is located anymore. The primary issue here is that he is being impersonated. If they can impersonate his voice they can surely just touch up and sign his paintings as if it was him as well.
Once again, if you haven't understood the first time, the issue is that Leonid Afremov is being impersonated! I completely understand an artist needs his time, an artist needs to paint, an artist would like to be left alone, fine, but having people impersonate him to make a sale? You must be joking.
Really tired of my smart comments and nonsense? Very professional way to go about this situation let me tell you.
I would love to know who is writing Leonid Afremov's comments, and I still haven't figured out why David and Boris Afremov were impersonating him on the phone...Once again, I specifically asked for "Leonid Afremov" not "Mr." Afremov, and both David and Boris pretended to be him by saying "yes, this is Leonid." The funniest part is that David actually admitted that Leonid isn't even around, even though both his brother and he said they were Leonid Afremov.
Nobody is questioning whether Leonid is a good artist or not, that entirely depends on people's taste. But what IS being questioned is who touches up and signs these master embellished giclees? This very suspicious behavior of Leonid Afremov being impersonated is now public and I just wanted consumers to know what they are getting themselves into. Also, to respond to a consumer with "really tired of your smart comments and nonsense" should give you an idea of what kind of people you are dealing with.
This is more for the consumer to know than for you to respond with YOUR nonsense, so maybe you SHOULD stop responding.
First of all, I asked to speak with Leonid Afremov EVERY single time, NOT "Mr." Afremov. I wouldn't be writing this complaint if I asked for "Mr." Afremov, and I surely would have no reason to get suspicious of the sneaky things you are doing in this company.
Second of all, "Leonid, " you say you are located in Boca Raton, FL. Your company is located in Orlando, FL. This is approximately a 3 hour distance by driving. For your day to day transactions there is no way you travel 3 hours there and 3 hours back home just to paint on giclees. I don't believe you are sent these master embellished giclees to your studio in Boca Raton, FL either because shipping costs would be too expensive.
Third, Leonid Afremov's and William Burns' comments were posted almost exactly 2 hours apart, both with spelling and grammar mistakes. Something tells me you guys are closely related...that is if it isn't the same person writing this.
Fourth, Leonid Afremov wrote up a whole response to my complaint but in his video he barely speaks English and has a translator? Interesting.

This is all a scam! I ordered a painting for $199. Cute that they’re selling all the dad’s paintings after his death right? Well I immediately tried to cancel after I got a run around email. I called customer service. I emailed. I messaged on Facebook. NOTHING. Then today I pressed 2 for sales. Someone answered! I was told to call back and press 1 for customer service. Noooooo, not going to do that. I said I was going to dispute my charge (which I did). I had a refund 4 hours later. Mmhmm. Scam.
All of these complaints have a stark similarity to complaints seen in fake Chinese sites: fake tracking numbers, very long delivery times or no delivery at all...and when delivery is actually made, the delivered product is always different from the one advertised. Which artist creating original works have warehouses? I firmly believe that this site is located in China and the art is being churned out like shoes in a factory
Received my painting today, payed $139, I think it is super nice deal
Just found Leonid' post, he specially ask all buyers to list his paintings online, so others will see them

It's awful. You got ripped off an he didn't paint it obviously.
I initially purchased a recreation. I asked for a photo of the actual painting for approval before shipment and was very happy when it arrived.
On the next orders for original one of a kind paintings, I was enticed that I could get more original painting for free with my orders. I asked for photos before shipment but I was assured that I will get the same thing as what was in the website image. I am now feeling sorry and stupid that I relented. To my disgust, the paintings that I received were mediocre compared to the online images.
I did receive a full refund. I have asked for return labels for the mediocre paintings.
I am sharing this experience to protect potential buyers. Read my detailed review at https://afremov.pissedconsumer.com/honest-review-of-afremov-buyer-beware-201802111187374.html
First time I knew about an artist Leonid Afremov from the Internet. His paintings are practically everywhere in social networks because there are many people who like them and share.
The first painting by Afremov, which I saw was ‘Paris of my Dreams’. I was just strolling down the page when it attracted my attention. It was a real explosion of colors! Moreover, it seemed to cast pleasant yellow light from the screen into my room. I immediately got interested in this artist.
Then, I discovered that he has his own web site, which looks like an online art gallery and sales his works globally directly from the artist without any margins.
I really like his romantic paintings. He has a whole series dedicated to couples strolling down misty alleys close to each other. I have decided to purchase one of them as a birthday gift to myself. I have just moved to a new apartment, which looked pretty empty without any decoration. The walls in my studio were white and the furniture was blue, so I wanted to find something matching.
The artwork I like the most is ‘Melody of the Night’. There are several reasons why I have chosen this canvas. First of all, it’s a typical Afremov’s work: very colorful and colorful, which seems to be casting mild cozy light. I admire the cheerful blue palette of this painting in the contrast with yellow and orange. Secondly, I just love how this canvas makes me feel.
I do not have a girlfriend right now, and I believe that this painting will attract love into my life. The atmosphere, which it creates in my small apartment, is very special. Instead of an inhospitable bachelor’s harbor, it turned into a quite romantic place where lives a profound and sensitive guy, dreaming of sharing his life with someone special.
The website is very simple to use. You can use a word search, choose the subject of canvas, for example, ‘Urban’ or ‘Animals and pets’. You can also go to the online gallery and choose any product you like. In addition to paintings, there are also smartphone cases with his works printed on them, suitable for different models of smartphones. I am thinking about ordering one for myself too.
The paying process is very easy. They accept Paypal payments as well as any credit card. It is completely safe, so you do not need to worry about your data.
I ordered my painting on 20th of November. The shipment is free. FedEx shipment company delivers parcels all over the world. After the payment process had been completed, a manager contacted me by email and informed me about all the details about my order.
I live in Canada, so shipping was free for me and very fast. It took just around two weeks. However, if you do not live in the USA, Mexico or Canada, check the delivery conditions for your country. As far as I know, it is free internationally too, but only for unframed paintings. Actually, it could be a advantage, because you this way you can choose any kind of frame you like.
When the parcel arrived, I was so excited. It was packed very carefully, which I appreciate. I have ordered a gallery wrapped painting, because I wanted to hang it on a wall in my house. I am absolutely satisfied with what I saw after I opened the parcel! The painting looks even better in real life. It is not too small or too big, and is just perfect for my place.
I recently bought an Afremov "recreation". Have not yet received my painting, BUT, things have not gone smoothly thus far. I will reserve further comment until my painting arrives. I did have a phone conversation with David and it was not a very nice conversation on his part. That's all I will say right now.

Leonid Afremov died some years ago. I tried to meet him and it was impossible, and nobody saw him in the last years. His children run this business.
As far as I was aware, Leonid Afremov answered my email on Etsy?! Very arrogant man told me I was purchasing a fake when I declined to buy from this website
Trying to buy an original or even a personalised print from UK is a mine field. Mr Afremov has said online, numerous times, he has collectors in the UK and boasts "No shipping cost". When you want to add gallery wrapping, the cost is way through the roof, this costs more that the print by it's self! My friend love these bright art works by 'some artist' embellished by Afremov?! Won't burst my friends bubble, but his birthday present will have more class.
