Please find below a letter I sent to my credit card's fraud division to provide you with the details in this case. All State Moving of America LLC is a fraudulent company and my purpose in reporting them is to save someone else from going through my experience with them for the past 4 months.

Dear Fraud Division personnel;

This letter is an account of my claim of fraud for $4100.00 with All State Moving of America on my account ending in 5994..

My mother and I are moving to Georgia from New Hampshire in the next couple of days so I began contacting moving companies back in mid-May, May 11th to be exact. As you can see on the attached document, I contacted U-Pack about using containers to ship our belongings down to Georgia rather than renting a moving truck. The woman I spoke with was very helpful and quoted me a cost of $6450.00 for the move. I then contacted Big Van Lines, having received a link from them as a result of my searching for houses on Redfin. I spoke with a Jason Doran and he explained the various options. In addition to providing a truck and workers to move our furniture and boxes onto the truck they would also drive it down there and hold it for 30 days while we found a place to live. We did a cubic foot inventory of my family’s possessions and added 80 boxes, coming out at roughly 1,400 cubic feet. After speaking with his manager he offered a quote of $9883.87 for their services. I told him I’d get back to him if Mom and I decided to go with his company. (I should add that my Mom was against hiring a company to move our belongings, hoping to have family members do so.)

Being afraid that we were running out of time and offering to pay for moving us myself I contacted Jason again at Big Van Lines (on May 12th about 4 PM), or thought I did. He seemed very confused and didn’t remember our previous conversation. His name was Jason Taylor although I had called the number for Jason Doran [protected]). We did an inventory of my family’s belongings again and ended up with 1,431 cubic feet. Against my better judgement I put down a deposit of $4100 because I was very concerned that Mom and I had waited too long to hire movers, having heard about all the interstate moving going on.

Shortly after completing this phone call my Mom and I went off to a town meeting. I happened to check my e-mail before entering the town hall and saw the fraud alert from Citizens Bank so I called right away. In looking at the e-mail I assumed it was the $1.00 charge at the Mobil gas station that had been the fraud as my debit card number had been stolen in the past and they made little purchases before they tried to transfer over $1,000. The gentleman I spoke with said it was the moving company that was the fraud alert and asked me if I had made a deposit with them. I replied that I had and instantly knew I had made a terrible mistake.

Upon returning home after the meeting, I called Jason Taylor back that very night at 8:55 PM, roughly 4 hours after I’d made the deposit to cancel my order. This was well within the 48 hours as stated on their paperwork and as told to me by Jason. He gave me the old “razzle dazzle” and said I’d regret my decision and that it would take a few days to process the refund.

I had not received a refund by Monday morning, May 16th, so I called the company back with the number on their letterhead [protected]) only to get Jason Taylor again, this time in his car. I told him I had yet to receive my refund and he proceeded to do the “razzle dazzle” again. There was no interrupting him but when I finally had a chance I told him I’d be contacting your office and the state attorney generals in NH, FL and WY (where the payment was processed.) He told me he would see to it that my money would be refunded when he got into the office.

A few days later I received a phone call from a woman in their customer service department [protected]) who, yet again did the “old razzle dazzle”, tried to convince me to change my mind, and said it would take a few days to refund my money. I gave her the same warning I had given Jason at which point she stated she’d contact their accounting office and I’d have my refund.

I have been very busy with the logistics of a long-distance move and have not contacted their office again. Yet, I saw on my most recent credit card statement that All State Moving of America has yet to issue me a refund. Shortly after getting settled in Georgia I will make good on my promise and contact the state attorney generals in the aforementioned states. I sincerely hope you can help me as $4100 is a lot of money to have lost, especially given all the costs of moving long distance.

Thank you in advance for your assistance with this matter. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Best,

Robin Maloney
