I purchased two mastiffs from Susann Everett at Beowulf mastiffs and both dogs became sick. One died at the age of 3yrs and the other was diagnosed with Epilepsy at age 2yrs. Susann Everett never responded when I contacted her about these health issues. This breeder continued to breed relatives to my epileptic dog after she was notified of his condition. She blamed her puppy buyers for the sick dogs that she breed and sold and lied to people telling them the dogs were abused. She also never followed through with her contract. I would never reccomend purchasing a puppy from this breeder and I would suggest being very weary of her one sided contracts especially the Special Program she offers.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I hope this is not true... she is very well known and has produced scores of Champions. There has to be another side to this story.
Somehow you put the weight of the breeder’s veracity who is making $$$$ selling sick dogs over many pet owners/customers/ victims who say their dogs are sick? How many pet owners do you know that complain about their beloved pet just to complain? Think on that.
Hello,
I've had a similar experience with all three Mastiffs I purchased from Susann Everett. Unfortunately, the health problems did not surface until after I had purchased them all. My first Masiff from her had bone cancer at age four and had to be euthanized. My second Mastiff had a mild knee injury at age three which, at the time, I did not think was significant. However, now three years later he has developed such horrible arthritis of one of his elbows that he cannot walk on the effected leg. My third puppy from her developed trouble in both knees before he was even two! One knee was amenable to surgical correction, However, the other one is beyond repair. I wrote her an email explaining all the problems I've had. Her reply was very condescending and she accepted no responsability for the poor health of the dogs she breeds.
I certainly feel for you and am sorry for your loss. However, most often knee injuries are due to improper care. Many don't realize mastiffs have to be kept slim as pups and avoid stairs etc or they are susceptible to injuries. Regarding the cancer, it unfortunately can appear any time in any line. A breeder can not promise that a pup won't get cancer, or kidney problems or acl injuries etc. If they do, they are lying. Again, I am sorry for your loss. The hardest part of loving this breed is losing them!
Yeah..No, the hardest part is contemplating putting down an 18 month old puppy you didn’t know had a congenital illness that was purposely being reintroduced in multiple breeding cycles. That would be the hardest part Talia.
The complaints that I have read are not necessarily the fault of the breeder. Knee conditions frequently happen with rough play, jumping and running around, even dogs with good knees can injure their knee. How is one to know how the complainant treated the dogs as growing pups? Maybe they were allowed to be too active for a growing giant breed. One comment says the 3yr old died, but doesn't specify what happened. And regarding osteosarcoma, this can be caused environmentally and not always genetic. IMO, no breeder is without faults, regardless of what some may say. Susann has been breeding mastiffs for years and the fact that she continues to have champion dogs and returning "customers" purchasing dogs from her over the years, IMO she can't be all that bad. Just because you pay thousands of dollars for a pet, doesn't mean you are guaranteed a healthy pet that will live a long life.
I understand there is a history of epilepsy and hip problems in the dogs this breeder continues to breed. No breeder should continue to perpetuate such serious conditions. I agree knee problems can be environmental but epilepsy is not.
Beowulf's ratio of epileptic pups to non-epileptic is lower then most kennels! Epilepsy can rear its ugly head anywhere and does. We don't know what causes it. However, you don't stop breeding altogether due to it occurring occasionally. You have to understand that epilepsy is recessive, meaning it takes two parents with the gene to produce an affected. Beowulf does not repeat affected pair breeding. They also contribute a lot to epilepsy research.
Your numbers are greatly skewed by the unknown number of dogs who have been placed in rescue and euthanized. She does repeat affected pair breedings and she contributes nothing to epilepsy research. She denies epilepsy in her lines. Unsure where you are getting your information from, but it sounds like you breed with her. The sire of Beowulfs Allspice is the sire of my epileptic male and the dam is the dam of my dead epileptic female. Spreading inaccurate information does not help the breed.
Well they should considering they are breeding and selling so many epileptic dogs. I didn’t know that breeders could post under assumed names?
THIS IS WHY YOU DO NOT BUY FROM BACK YARD BREEDERS!
Susan Everett is faaaaar from a BYB. She has produced more nationally ranked and International Champions world wide than any other breeder!
She is a puppy mill. She sells off her females when she's done making puppies and doesn't even spay them. She puts out multiple litters per month. They are kept in kennels and used for breeding purposes.
my mastiff is sick at the age of 3 he is and was my best pal. it breaks my heart that iam going to put him down. john coffee i will always love you bubba
I also purchased a Mastiff from Suzanne from her "Special Program". Kelly was a beautiful 2 yr old little girl that i was told was socialized and house raised. Bull the dog couldn't walk up or down steps and was terrified of anyone other then me. The dog would NOT urinate or deficate it was almost 48 hours before she did so. I took her to my vet the day I got her, he was so not impressed the dog had a "sick" odor about her. 72 hours after getting Kelly she starting bleeding I called Susanne NUMEROUS times and she didnt want to hear it, kept telling me I MUST be doing something wrong. Long story short took the dog back to her, she wouldnt refund my moneywhen I made a caomplaint to the BBB I received a letter from her telling me I abused the dog etc etc. This dog was ILL and she would NOT admit it. Shes a whack job
my mastiff John. Is so sick right he's lost 40 lbs. John is so sick I have to hand feed him. I still don't know if he is goingto make it.
My mastiff John coffee pasted away this morning. John was 3 years old
Susan is a wonderful breeder. My puppy had trouble adjusting to the food I switched him to for the first few months I had him and she was completly available and responsive at all hours. She gave suggestions, spoke to the vets and everything. Turns out he just had a minor food allgery. My dog is now 2 yrs and he is amazing, well breed, well socialized and just beautiful. For the dogs that developed knee and joint problems, it most likely stems from uneducated owners. These dogs are a giant breed, meaning they cannot be highely active or walked long distances until they reach 18-24 months! I had a great experience with Susan and will most certainly be using her again in the future
This is a personal experience. First allow me to give you some personal background. We have raised large dogs for several years these include both Mastiffs and Great Danes. I have traveled to many shows and have interfaced with many breeders and handlers along the East Coast. I also own and operate a very successful business that is 100% based on customer service.
My story. After we lost our long time family Mastiff in early June we contacted Suzanne and spoke with her at length. We then entered into an agreement for the purchase of a female puppy to be picked up the weekend of July 16, 2011. The deposit was sent immediately by the required certified check.
Over the next couple of week we had access to images of the pup as she matured we had named her and Suzanne had started calling her by name. I ordered annnouncement card, posted images on my web site and several social media sites. The welcome home party was booked and the goodies all paid for. The hotel was booked and paid in full for the trip to pick her up.
About a week before we were going get her, I started getting emails from Suzanne at all hours of the night and day wanting to know what dog food I was going to use. I use a premium holistic brand that many breeders use. I have used it successfuly for many years. My Dane is 12 years old and acts like a dog of 3 or 4 the vet says he is incredible for his age! Monday night June 11, 2011 11:43 pm the phone rings. It is Suzanne with a hard sales pitch for us to use the food that she uses ( She ihas a vested interest in the company) and it was explained that I was comfortable with the food I use and have immediate local access to ( her's is shipped to you monthly. You have to give her a credit card number and they automatically fullfill the order monthly). I bit my tongue and was going to buy a bag and then just toss it out..but the orders would have been automatic and I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN VIOLATION OF HER CONTRACT. We told her we would not use the food ...she told us we could not have the dog because we were unfit. She hung up!
I called back to talk to her and her husband answered told me she was done with us and they were under no obligation for monies with us. He was rude but this sounded like a well rehearsed act. I told him to over night my deposit or I would be at his local jurisdiction th every next morning filing charges and looking for damages ( my 10 year old through the images and having named her is very hurt) He said he would mail a check. It just arrived and is in the bank.
THEY ARE NOT concerend with the welfare of the dog which they sell for $2500. They want the $60 a month ( $720 ) a year for 7, 8, 9 years. That can be as much as $10k for each dog when all is said and done.
It is my opinion through direct dealings that are fully documented that Beowulf and the Everetts are not conducting their business in the best interest of the dogs they breed nor in the best interest of the clients they deal with. Letters with full documentation have been dispatched to the BBB and the AKC.
There are many other breeders who can provide you with excellant pups and will help with any questions you may have. Please interview all the breeders and look for complaints.
I also purchased a mastiff from this woman and they about as unethical as people can be. I feel in love with the puppy at first through pictures over the internet and then the day came to pick her up and I was hit with a ridiculous contract demanding that I feed her dog food and she have rights to breed my dog. I then got the impression her & her husband thought they were better than anyone as they were telling me how bad other breeders were and how they were the best in the business. To make a long story short, my dog had severe hip dysplasia, heart problems, 2 torn ACL's and was infested with various parasites. Each time I called about a problem she told me to bring my new puppy back to them with no refund. A few times I spoke to Scott who assured me his wife would contact me but she never did. My dog was so sick just 2yrs old that my Vet suggested putting her down. They blamed me for everything and with owning large dogs all my life I had never had such a awful experience.
Looks like you can post anonymously. So you are correct about being able to attack a business. On the other hand the business could also make posts to contradict true statements.
I made the mistake of purchasing from her. I did tons of research on the internet to find just a few if any negative comments about her. I went ahead and purchased without reading the contract all that well. I would imagine many of us are guilty of that. What did I care, I was planning on always having the dog. Then the problems started. If you have ever had to deal with her in this manner then you already know that it is YOUR FAULT and there is no possibility of her accepting any responsibility. So if you are thinking about getting a dog from her and agree that there are very few negative comments about her on the net ... Do yourself a favor a read the contract. Especially the part about legal action if you post anything negative about her on the net.
So maybe the above posts are posts from evil people trying to ruin this ladies business or maybe they are a few of the people that have been screwed by this lady and found a site were they could post without legal action. Read the contract and ask then ask yourself "Do I really want to purchase from somebody who is so scared and threatens legal action in writing if you express your true opinion about the purchase".
FYI this story was all a made up because if it was true then I would be in violation of her contract.
Does anyone else find it interesting that ( Anyone with a CPU ) choose this post out of all thousands of posts on this site to respond to. If they were truly trying to specifically discredit this site then wouldn't they have posted in as many different topics as possible. Wonder what their motivation was.
I also find it very funny that ALL the comments posted follow the same theme. This woman is great if you have no problems and a monster if you have them. She knowingly sells dogs that have issues. Dogs like the one that was sold to me. It also had issues. No question from my vet she was raised in a kennel. Somehow she got a UTI in the first 24 hours and It was my fault. She had other issues. Our vet was very surprised she hadn't been spayed before we bought he due to the issues. Pet quality means unhealthy to beowulf. They should not be breeding dogs. Our dog was also returned and no refund offered or given. It was alluded that we abused the dog... Stay away from this breeder. They are a gamble. If things are good they seem to be good to deal with. If things turn around they are nasty.
My dog also has had numerous problems. Starting with him being a long haired dog. In purchasing the dog, I made the breeder well aware I wanted a short haired dog. When I voiced my concerns that he was a fluffy, I was just given all sorts of excuses. And being in SC, returning him wasnt optional. I love him to death but I feel like the breeder wasnt honest about breeding and selling long haired mastiffs,
Thanks for all the comments. I have been looking for Mastiff Breeders and now can make this one off the list!
I purchased my mastiff from her in 2006. In the beginning Susann was very responsive to all my questions and believe me I had many. After a couple of years I no longer had questions so did not keep in touch. Last year I had more questions and she responded quickly, as always. I feed my dog top quality food, her treats are fruits and veggies (excluding the toxic ones of course) and she gets a lot of exercise. She gets hour walk/jog every day. She also hikes with me, anywhere from 3-8 miles, distance depending on the weather. In addition, she swims. The vet says she is a PERFECT weight and looks great. Not many people hear that from a vet. I have never had problems with my mastiff yet and she is 6 years old. Sometimes, no matter how much you do to breed a healthy dog, a dog can have health problems. Paying $2, 500 for a mastiff and going with a reputable breeder does not guarantee a healthy dog. Nothing in life is guaranteed! All I am basing my opinion on is the mastiff I have. If someone knows of a breeder that can guarantee a mastiff that will never have health problems and live until 18, please provide that name to me so I can get my next perfect mastiff from them.
It looks to me like they are working to find a cause. Genetics of this have NOT been identified yet. The vets are guessing on the cause. http://beowulfmastiffs.com/page/Seizures---Be-Part-Of-The-Cure

I purchased a mastiff from beowulf mastiffs about 3 years ago and I could not be happier. This is the best dog I have ever had. I looked at a lot of breeders and talked myself hoarse. S. Everett was the most helpful, had the best win record in the AKC dog shows, has the best dogs in seven different countries. Nobody else even came close to this. Over these years, I have had several questions I needed answered and she was always right there, took the time to talk to me and to a T, her advise was always spot on. So much of what I've read in these comments reeks of soar grapes, or vendetta. I would encourage everyone who wants a mastiffs to at least contact her and see for yourself. You will get the best from the best.
Does anyone have another breeder, aside from Beowulf that you can recommend for English mastiffs? Preferably in the DC metro/ Northern Virginia area?
We purchased a 11 month old female from Suzanne in November and couldn't be happier with our mastiff
This was our first large breed dog and checked out this site prior to our purchase and it didn't take me long to disqualify the negative comments. Suzanne was very helpful and informative along the way as we learned how to care for our new family member. We are getting ready to purchase our 2 nd mastiff from Beowulf without any hesitation
So I urge any of you reading some of these post to think of the real motive behind the negativity.
That’s great that you got a healthy dog. I urge you to look at “my” motive and then be quiet. Our beautiful boy at 18 months bred by Susann Everett Beowulf Mastiffs. https://share.icloud.com/photos/0AMX0gGxvvTJBUIGFHb057myQ
So sad to see this. I took home a pup from SE and BWM over ten years ago...and my pup has been dead for approx 8 years. He was the kindest creature I have ever encountered and he died way to soon...I am just now learning that others had similar experiences from the same breeder. So sad. All these horror stories- food, contract, and having a dog die young are consistent with my experience. My boy died of some type of debilitating Autoimmune disease. I spent 2, 800 to buy my dog and two years later spent 10k trying to save his life. Crazy I know...but he was great. This is a factually post based on my experiences. If you doubt my motives/story contact me provide a phone # or email and I will confirm all. So sad
Beowulf Mastiffs does breed beautiful dogs. My two epileptic ones are very sweet and absolutely gorgeous! Susann has some issues with telling the truth and posting fraudulent information on her website. She is not supportive or knowledgeable about epilepsy or seizures. She has denial issues with all the sick dogs she has created. She will support you as long as nothing goes wrong. Breeding champions would be great if they were healthy, but the father of one of my epileptic Beowulf Mastiffs is the winner of BOS at Westminster in 2011...really doesn't mean anything if he produces epilepsy. She won't tell you that though...If you're looking for a responsible breeder, avoid Beowulf Mastiffs. She takes no responsibility.
Stay away from this 'breeder'!
Have personally dealt with dogs she has old over the past 6 yrs, all bad news.
Have has dogs die from heart problems at 3 yr old, dog with joint problem and last year had a 9 month old mastiff bought from her with many health problems, the least of which not being CONGENITAL kidney malformation w which she told me personally on the phone could not be fro her breeding stock.
She has been given all the medical xrays, lab report etc and told me that it has nothing to do with her.So much for the dogs being 'members of her family' and customer service.
Every thing is the clients problem and the vets all lie according to Mrs Everett.
Don't walk away from her...RUN!
I did research looking for just the right breeders of Mastiffs. I thought I'd find this at Beowulf. but after reading all the horrible things said about the puppy's health, as well as the ignorant owners, I will NOT buy from them. Thank you so much for being frank with your reviews. It helps those from enduring the misery you have all dealt with. I'm so sorry you all had to go through this. Shame on Susann Everett, her obedient husband, and their ridiculous 'special program'. And as for 'anyone with a CPU', if you have owned 25 Mastiff's from Beowulf Mastiffs, that kind of makes you family. Which just means to me you are being protective of your family. Nice try! Maybe you should post your REAL NAME!
Had the opportunity to speak with the vet that Beowulf uses... She has no idea who does the C-sections for any of the Beowulf dogs. All of the horror stories about the poor ### who have been bred by this monster just keep getting worse! The fact that they have a veterinary type building on their property is scary also! If you consider getting a puppy from this horrible woman please go in with both eyes open. She is not what she seems. She is a monster who only cares about selling enough dog food to win her free cruise at the end of the year!
I am truly horrified at Susann Everett's cut throat business tactics. However, what's worse is the cut throat approach she shows her dog's. Susann and Scott are ALL ABOUT THE MONEY! In an effort to be brief, I will simply say that Susann is an expert at selling beautiful dogs with a myraid of underlying health issues. It is my opinion, that she is fully aware of the health problems of the dogs prior to sale. Susann is just unwilling to share this information. As a result, you purchase a beautiful dog which you love like your own child. Until that unfortunate, sad, unforgettable day...YOU find out that your dog is sick. Don't turn to Susann, because she will REFUSE to hear anything. The breeder that was readily available to take your calls before purchasing, is unavailable when you need her most. If you are lucky to get her on the phone, she is rude, condescending, and accusatory. What have you done to the dog? As if I would spend $3000 on my precious baby just to hurt him. I guess it is my fault that her pups have seizures, hip/knee problems, and a blood disease. This woman is unethical and has no heart. BUYER BEWARE!
We purchased a mastiff male from Suzanne. Sadly he died at age 2 from a congenital kidney malformation. We had an autopsy performed for our own peace of mind which confirmed this. Suzanne took no responsibility and was arrogant throughout the process.
Our Beowulf mastiff was our second Mastiff but our first one from Susann. Our first Mastiff lived a long and great life. Our Beowulf Mastiff suddenly and sadly died just shy of 4 years old. Yes, he was a beautiful dog but had health issues. My dealings with Susann were much like what others have shared. She is very aloof, not good at communicating after the deposit is provided and acts as though she is doing you a favor by assigning you a dog. Now her website says when you place a deposit you cannot even pick from which litter your dog will come from. Unbelievable, not to decide for yourself which parents your future dog / new family member will come from. It's like an arranged marriage. More importantly, our family was devastated by his death. After the death of our dog she removed his name and photo from her website. Please consider looking at another breeder as to lessen the chances of breaking your children's hearts if / when the dog dies too soon.
I purchased a mastiff in 2006. She will be 8 years old this May. My girl has hiked 9 miles and run 2.5 miles straight in her younger years. She still hikes but we keep it to 4 miles or so. She also swims. I do not have any major problems with her, including arthritis. We did do x-rays on front legs and it shows a small amount of arthritis on her back. For an almost 8 year old mastiff, I would say this is GREAT! Susann has always answered my questions and concerns regarding her. Just as you cannot guarantee a healthy child you cannot guarantee a healthy dog, no matter how many precautions you take. You will always find good and bad opinions about every subject/person in life. I am sorry for the people who did not get a healthy mastiff because they are family and can never be replaced.
The mastiff I got from Susann was the first mastiff I ever owned. I will never get another breed again. The mastiff is amazing and I was truly amazed at what a good "housemate" he is. He has never destroyed anything and respects my entire family's possessions. He even knows the difference between his stuffed animals and my daughters. That said, I will tell you my experience with Susan. And you all can come to your own conclusions. She was very nice when it came to dealing with her when we were in the buying process. She did push her dog food on us but we didn't go for it-mainly because the distribution in my area wasn't good. A month before my boy's seventh birthday, he was diagnosed with an enlarged heart and was given 6 months to live. To be an honest broker, I can't directly blame her for this condition because I have no proof that it was an hereditary issue. That can go either way and I have no proof so I will not accuse her of anything. She did however say that her mastiffs average 10-12 years in life span and that was one of her proud focuses in her breeding program. Anyway, my boy is still alive but it has cost me a small fortune in keeping him at his best. My bill in Meds per month is about $400 and I would pay that gladly to keep him around. So after speaking to my kids-who have no idea about their "brothers" condition, I was worried that his emanate demise would really hurt them. So I called her and very nicely told her about what we have gone through and the financial costs we have incurred. I told her that we'd love to get another pup from her but would appreciate a little discount on the next one given that I'm a returning customer and the extra money we have had spend and turmoil we have gone through. To my shock, she told me that she has 2 litters coming and pups would be available in June. I was welcome to ordering one but she would not give me a discount in any form. That really hurt as I was looking more for the gesture than anything else. Had she even knocked off $500 I would have been happy because at least she is trying to do right by me. Remember, until reading these posts, I was under the impression that my boy was going to cruise to at least 9 without major problems. End result, I will not be getting my next Mastiff from her. I didn't appreciate how she handled me and I will look to give another breeder a chance. As for what happened to my dog, you be the judge. I can't say either way what the true cause was.
I met Suzanne at a dog show and in retrospect, maybe the fact that she wouldn't bring one of her dogs out of its crate to meet me because he had "issues" should have been a red flag. But my husband and I reserved a puppy anyway. Another red flag was when we drove to pick up our pup, we were ushered through a kennel with dogs in private cages, one of whom charged the fence barking and snarling. And a LOT more dogs than I expected. Had I not been star struck by her championship titles, I would have immediately spotted her setup as the puppy factory it is. Still we brought our puppy home.
Short story, the puppy was treated with all the proper care a giant pup requires for healthy growth and yet she had such horrible hip displaysia and lower spine issues that we finally put her down at the age of three because we could no longer manage her pain. Suzanne wanted no part of helping us manage her pain and the gruff manner in which she told us "if you don't like her, bring her back" made me wonder what her fate would be if returned to her breeder.
I'll also note that when my dog was about two, we called Suzanne to see if she had another puppy (I still hadn't learned). She was passing within five miles of our house on her way to a show and offered to meet us at a rest stop to hand over a pup. When I told her I wouldn't be comfortable taking the pup without seeing how our other mastiff reacted to it first (and could she take ten minutes to drive to our house) she became very angry and abusive, accused me of not trusting her, disrespecting her, etc.
I've read every complaint I live in Detroit and Susan sold me the most wonderful mastiff she was very helpful and continues to help I have no problem with her or the mastiff I'm buying another 1 as well. Just because 1 egg is cracked doesn't mean the rest are bad. We have no control over ones hearth you can be born from very healthy parents and Still come out with a defect we should not be so quick to judge
My big female is from Beowulf ( Kiba ) she is 22 months old so far so good, no complaints . She is a big part of our family, this is our 2nd
mastiff, but our 1st from Beowulf . so far she has been perfectly healthy other than 1 or 2 UTI's which is very common with the breed . I truly hope all these stories are not true, for the dogs and families involved if they value their dog's the way my family and I do. Another good breeder is Rockport Mastiffs out of BC Canada, which is where our first mastiff came from. We do use the food that Suzanne pushes & I'm sure she makes good money off her investment, but as I stated our Kiba is a big beautiful and healthy girl 22 months 33" at the withers and 197 pounds. We discussed other foods some I was aware of some I wasn't, but she never told me I had to use hers, but after research I choose to use her suggestion . I can not complain about our choice to use Beowulf .
The Flenikens
This page is upsetting to say the least. Take this from someone that previously worked for Scott and Susann, they DO very much care for their dogs. They are amazing with their animals and perhaps some people have had unhealthy dogs but I cant in sound mind think this is from bad breeding or unhealthy living. These people were NOTHING but generous and lovely to work for and gave the best of care, cleanliness and living to their beautiful dogs. It is terrible and sad that some of you have lost your loved pets, but trying to place blame and even go so far as to call them a puppy mill is awful. IN NO WAY are they a puppy mill... not even close. Yes they breed their dogs, their females TWICE only and usually only once. I cared for many of these wonderful dogs and absolutely never seen any kind of abuse or mistreatment, quite the opposite actually. Shame on those trying to slander.
No, shame on YOU for trying to mitigate the horrific experience those of us that have one of Susann Everett’s Beowulf’s sick dogs with epilepsy. We are currently on track to put an 18 month old Beowulf boy down. Would you like to hear the laundry list of things we have put this poor dog through only to find out that there is no help for him? Forget about the thousands of dollars we are spending, we were just so grateful to be in a position to be able to pay for any and all medication, testing, special food, homeopathic remedies and MRI that might have helped him. There are a lot of Susanns’ customers that can’t afford that. All the while she continues to inbreed this genetic epilepsy component knowingly. How many reputable breeders do you know that produce more than two litters per year and MULTIPLE “special” dogs that were returned to her and then resold at a reduced price. Let me help you. None. There are zero reputable breeders that do that. Glad you had a great experience but you should be ashamed of yourself trying to minimize these valid complaints simply because YOU had one good experience. Meanwhile one person may read your glowing review and help to keep her in business by buying another sick dog which will suffer. Trust me when I say, the dog will suffer horribly. We know. Narcissist.
I'd like to share some information, in case anyone is considering a puppy from Beowulf Mastiffs upcoming litter with "MD" Beowulfs Mason Dixie's Winn (due in October). I own Riona (Beowulfs Wild Irish Rose) and Fearghas (Beowulfs It's Five O'Clock Somewhere)
MD is Riona's great grandfather. He sired Rockin the Boat "Anchor" (Riona's grandfather). Anchor has sired at least TWO offspring that have produced epilepsy.
MD... is also a full sibling to Attitude with Latitude (Riona and Fearghas' great grandfather). Attitude with Latitude has produced at least TWO offspring with epilepsy.
MD is also a full sibling to I Touched The Rain (Fearghas' great grandmother). I Touched The Rain has produced at least ONE offspring with epilepsy.
Riona was diagnosed with epilepsy at 21 months.
Fearghas was diagnosed with epilepsy at 11 months.
Just some things to think about...
I purchased a female under contract to fix and a male to show and breed. Both had issues from day one, I learned a lot and loved my pups... But my female was insanely fearful from day one and my male showed signs of the severe hip dysphasia that killed him before a year. My vet had me keep him skinny from age 4 on and while this made it possible for him to climb stairs and such it was so sad to see my beautiful boy so reduced.. And worse you know mastiffs will suffer in silence.. As he lay dying on the kitchen floor he would put on a cheerful face if I looked at him .. My little girl said he drooped as soon as I looked away.. Brave sweet puppy to the end... How could she keep breeding fearful unhealthy dogs? She stacks shows.. Putting in a ton of her dogs to make enough points that if she wins (the odds now being in her favor as well) she can make a Champion in a weekend.. Dogs too scared to show are bred and sold.. So the problems go on. My previous mastiff could run agility at 9, and lept in and out of a truck from 4 mo on... Not every dog is so perfect, but beware a breeder who keeps talking about people being against her, read her aggressive contracts and count how many litters she does a year.. She is a puppy mill! My kids hate her for the pain they watched our boy suffer
Never buy A pup from these people. BEWARE! They try to steal your money and from the looks of it had numerous name changes over the years, because I assume this isn't their first time ripping people off. She runs a puppy mill. She does it for the money and not the love of the dog and breed. I hope they do sell their business so hopefully someone trust worthy and caring buys it. All these dogs and had the nerve to say I wouldn't be a good person for one of the pups. Kept telling me she did me favor by selling me a pup at a lower price when she could have easily got more for it. Mean while I'm sure all these dogs don't get the love and attention they need. They are all part of her assembly line. People like this make me sick. I feel bad for dogs. Con artist. Stay away from Iron Giants Kennels in Manitoba and do your research before you purchase a pup from a "Breeder". Never know when they will change their name again.
Iron Giants Kennel is a puppy mill as far as I am concerned. They also take your money and try to con their way out of paying it back. They are thieves and liars. DO NOT BUY A PUPPY FROM THESE PEOPLE!
