My son bought a £15000 66 plate BMW - within a week it was making a banging noise when driven took to a garage who said may be a wheel bearing spoke to big motoring world who said it's still covered under the manufactures warranty so take to a main dealer. Main dealer put car on the ramps - they carried out a visual inspection of the vehicle and found a whole host of issues - front and rear drivers wheels buckled, bulge on inside tyre, heat exchange cover completely misshapen and only held on with two finger tight bolts - gear box had at some point been removed together with the exhaust- car had been in a major front end colliision as had new bonnet new wing new bumper new headlamps - none of these were BMW parts. Under trays were loose and new parts not BMW - fresh paint / underseal on underside of car
Electrics were not coded to car, dash board readings were intermittent sometimes they disappeared completely so didn't no speed etc
With so much wrong the dealership did not go any further with investigating the noise - main dealership supplied us with a written report and video report. This was only a visual inspection they said if they did a full mechanical inspection who knows what else would be found wrong with it.
Rang big motoring world immediately - and said under the consumer rights act 2015 we would be returning the car for a full refund as it's within 30 days of purchase and if not satisfactory condition.
They refused and said car should be returned after the bank holiday weekend as there were no after sales staff available - so they could inspect for themselves - as far as we were concerned a main dealership inspection was inspection enough.
The car was returned all the while emails were going back and forth and they were refusing us a refund - they inspected the car and said they would change the wheels and we could come and collect it we refused we were within our rights to a full refund.
They are not part of the motoring ombudsman so we couldn't be helped by them - the car was bought with a bank loan so couldn't be helped by the financial ombudsman - we ended up going to citizens advice who put us in contact with Trading Standards all correspondence was sent to them and they concluded we were within our rights for a full refund. We also signed up with which legal and took legal advice - we eventually after approx 40 emails got a full refund but it took two weeks for them to agree to it
We dealt with Sophie - every issue we raised with respect to this car she wouldn't answer the query - every email was answered with it will be repaired and when are you collecting the car they wouldn't admit it had been in a crash and wouldn't admit there was anything wrong with it! We had written and video proof that it wasn't road worthy!
This car could have killed my son/other road users, he had to drive on the motorway to get it home. It does not bear thinking about what could have happened.

Do not buy from Big Motoring World - based on our experience they sold my son a sub standard dangerous car that could have killed him! There after sales service is non existent, - when we went back to return paperwork spare keys etc Sophie didn't have the courtesy to deal with us and sent another lady out, who wasn't rude but was very abrupt and there was no apology - they couldn't care less - she told us the buckled wheels were being replaced and car would go back up for sale - and it is together with a £1500 price increase!

CX21ZPM SKODA OCTAVIA HYBRID ESTATE

Gear selector fault

Rear right brake grinding and scored

1 key not working

Container of fuel added yet zero miles

I took delivery of the car on the Friday 15th December I did swerve the extra 3 year warranty at £1900 and I'm so glad I did because these jokers are absolutely the worst !

I was told both keys worked and a canister of fuel had been put in the car.

On leaving the showroom the car read zero miles of petrol and zero miles of electric, but I did get to the fuel station.

The brakes did sound very bad but I didn't know if this was what a hybrid was supposed to sound like.

I woke next morning and had a look at the brake discs, looking through the wheel spokes , 3 were OK, one was badly scored and it was clear that the noise I could hear was a worn out brake pad grinding on the disk.

It was at that point I found that only one key worked and a fault warning was on the dashboard of an overheating gearbox (upon startup)

I tool the car back to the showroom on the saturday 16th December to be told no-one there could help me , i asked to see a manager and she changed the battery on the key and told me she would book the car in on monday and provide me with a courtesy car, and she would ring to confirm on Monday 18th December

She never called.

I did manage to get through to aftersales on the 12th attempt , the previous 11 attempts resulted in the phone line disconnecting before being answered, and a call to the only line in service, sales, Georgie, who was worse than useless refusing to help or connect me with anyone of any help , however on the 12th attempt to get in touch with after sales the phone did connect, and the person I spoke with was quite frankly rude and unhelpful.

She told me to drive the car to kwik fit for a free brake check, but would not autorise any repairs if they were needed.

So I travelled to the Leeds showroom after work and there I encountered no help either.

I couldn't leave my car with them

I couldn't leave my keys with them

They wouldn't inspect the car

And if I left the car on site , they couldn't be liable for its safe keeping , and no , they had no idea which manager I had spoken to on Saturday that had promised to get this mess sorted out.

As the car not only has a metal to metal brake issue and also a gearbox issue , I consider the car undriveable, and had the vehicle recovered under the warranty in the interests of safety to my home address as the site could not guarantee the safety of my car to be roadworthy ,and not guarantee the safety of the car if left on site.

I phoned after sales again today and asked them to book the car on under warranty for the repairs, yes of course, we could get you in on the 2nd January.(14 days away) WHAT ?

what am I supposed to do over Christmas with no car , I'm terribly sorry sir there's nothing we can do.

We are now in a position that I have no choice but to consider this car to be unfit for purpose and reject it on the grounds of safety.

I have given big motoring world every opportunity to rectify these issues and now consider our transaction to be unrecoverable

Now I wait for the next stage with an undriveable car and they have my money.lets see how long it takes to unwind this transaction , they say 2 weeks but ...
