I have been trying to book a holiday at a hacen holiday site. But wanted to make a reasonable adjustment request due to my disability for a caravan as close as possible to the main building.
I was told specifically by customer service and the receptionist at the Devon Cliffs park that i would have to pay extra to get one guaranteed close to the building currently between £60 - £110 extra.
I advised i wanted to make a reasonable adjustment request due to disability according to the Equality Act 2010.
I was told strait forward 'No' and the woman i spoke to at devon cliffs stated " you have to pay like everyone else, its not fair on those that pay to be closer to the building, all other disabled people have to pay too, so you dont agree with that?"
I told her "no because that is against the equality act 2010 so you are charging disabled people with accessibility needs more money for an adjustment thats a disability tax"
To say i am shocked is an understatement. I was told there was no way to make a complaint until we had had our holiday or we were actually there. There was no manager i could speak to or a team dedicated to disability despite it stating that it does on the website?
Can someone please get in touch in regards to this as its a very big concern!
Desired outcome: Change to policy regarding disability accessibility needs & R.A. NOT charging disabled people for a R.A & the woman i just spoke to at devon cliffs to get retrained on equality and disability discrimination.
