Low pay for employees. I do not care attitude as long as they get the work done. Quantity above quality. They have gotten away with treating their employees terribly for too long.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Agree wholeheartedly. worked for medquist for 6 years and pay has steadily gone down while my production has gone up. Such a rip off. Company bites the hands that feed them.
It is actually worse than described. It is the corporate policy to steadily reduce the pay of MTs through the "rewards" program.
Worst employer I've ever had. It takes years to become a seasoned medical transcriptionist (MT). All of my supervisors were nice, but "the suits, " as they're called, are totally detached from what the MT must do. The "misery index board" is mtstars.com/medquist. There the reader will often see NJA, which means "no jobs available." Of course, the moderator of the board (Cher) throws people off regularly, yet claims she's not affiliated with "the Q."
This company sold its interests to CBay in India, which shows no loyalty to Americans. It also places more importance on their precious ASR (advanced speech recognition) so they can pay the MT even less. Try working for pennies on the line. While there are some who still manage to earn a decent salary, do NOT fall for any claim promising you'll make lots of money doing transcription, especially in these times. It used to be a good occupation, but not now. I don't even know how a newly trained MT would get hired by any MT company.
There have been numerous complaints about not being paid for total lines typed, but I never audited my own figures.
Americans will hopefully complain to the industries that offshore our jobs and such sensitive information.
I worked for Medquist for 10 years, and never got a raise. Actually, when voice recognition came into being, my pay went down 7 cents a line. They became total slave drivers. They lost the account that I had worked on for years and I was put on a really bad account with a lot of foreign dictators. It was very difficult to make my expected line counts and I was consistently nagged, even though I had worked for them for 9 years very productively. Finally they were threatening to fire me and I subsequently quit. They did not seem upset one bit, and almost relieved. I very luckily landed the best job of my life where I am appreciated and paid what I deserve. Unfortunately, most medical transcription jobs have gone the way of self editing or overseas. We are a dying breed. Very sad.
I work for MQ - my account was taken out from under my team on the account as it went "100% global" so now we have to wait for an account for us to have - they said probably next week - in the meantime use vacation pay or no pay at all. They are now buying up other MT companies - not good for those MTs who have been in the profession for many years or for the new MTs. I fortunately work a second job in a hospital so trying to get in as many extra hours here as I possibly can to pay the bills!
The same thing happened to me. They put me on a new account with mostly ESL dictators and we all know how that goes for the next month or so to learn the new account. Again, income drops significantly. I feel like they expect us to work for nothing; I'd rather starve to death. Kidding aside, it' time to move on once again. Medquist is the worst company I have ever worked for in 10 years.
It's terrible what MQ is doing to their employees. My account also went "global". Frankly, I think the company management have gone "out of their minds" Do they really think we are going to work for NOTHING. Sickening. This is the worst MT job I have ever had in 10 years. I should have listened to the warnings.
What I would like to know is why on earth anyone is being paid mere pennies per line on a system that was originally designed to be a transcription "tool"? The compensation for voice recognition is awful. Yes productivity may go up, but pay will go down.
You do twice the amount of work for less pay then what you would have made if you were straight typing. Today I made $60 for an 8 hr shift doing voice recognition; when if I had been paid straight typing pay, I would have made $119 dollars. And I wont even begin to tell you how much work I kicked out only to be paid $60...it's sad. You produce all that work for them and in turn you are very poorly compensated.
No bonuses or anything.
