Camp Australia do not look after their staff either. My husband became a coordinator of an OSHC program and completely turned it around. In his first year he earned the love of the parents and the kids and the program doubled in size through his hard work; he was celebrated and even given an award.
The company told him he was valuable and he was next in line for a promotion. He turned down countless other job offers for the promise of a full-time position with CA. He put in at least 10 unpaid hrs a week just to meet their outdated standards. This went on for two years, at a minimal wage. Each time he was on the verge of leaving they promised him a raise, a promotion, anything...never happened. He finally bit the bullet and said he really needed to find more work as it's not enough. Just like that, they decided he wasn't valuable anymore and got him to start training his own replacement!
The higher up in the company people get, the more they lose sight of the fact that they are affecting people's lives. All that's left to say is that they're about to lose one of the most competent and valuable employees they will have.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer's satisfaction.
I agree - they don't treat staff with respect especially coordinators. It's such a shame that a lot of educators do so much but aren't valued in the company. He is better off without them.
What the hell! The exact same thing happened to me. I even had an interview organised for a promotion and then cancelled the day it was scheduled for. They never rescheduled despite saying so. I have experience bullying by management, observed numerous illegal situations such as understaffed centres, lack of qualifications and generally poor performing staff with no accountability. All you have to do is google this company and you can see what a joke it is. If you are serious about your career and don't want to end up pulling your hair out, get a job elsewhere and move on. And if you are a parent, I would highly recommend finding care elsewhere as I would NEVER allow my child to be in the care of Camp Australia and their absolute incompetence.
Hi there,
I work with Seven's Sunday Night and I am working on a story about complaints against Camp Australia. I was hoping I might be able to speak with you and find out more information about what happened? My email is jjgorman@seven.com.au
I worked as a assistant educator for Camp Australia from October last year till October this year, in which was the worst year of my working life.it started early when i was sent to do a shift at a school to find the school closed up and no-one there. From there it only got worse. There was a case of they informed me that HR had lost all my paperwork and they cancelled all my shifts until i had re-sent all my paperwork, this was at the start of 2017 .My shifts then dried up and then we received a notice that all our shifts were being reduced to only 2 hours per shift.I have done emergency co-ordinator shifts when i am not even qualified to do.I sent a email to HR about the situation only for then to be subjected to a review when things didnt go as well and placed on report. That was in August this year.I left in October.I just couldnt put up with all of the mistakes by HR.It was a shame.I loved working with the children and some of the co-ordinators .I have a background in working with children as a volunteer and i am studying a educational course.Hopefully something might come good out of this and people who do know how to manage large companies are brought in and the current lot thrown out.
