I was contacted on March 29, 2023 by a member of management from Compel Fitness, after I initiated my membership at Gold's Gym. This person stated that I was supposed to also sign up for personal training which I believed because on the membership package it mentioned free training being included with my membership. On April 3rd, I met with this person and told them my personal goals and that I would only be needing training for 6 months. He laughed in my face and repeated back to me "6 months" I only realized I was signed up for 14 months after signing the contract that was purposefully scrolled through on a tiny screen so I couldn't read it. I specifically asked "may I cancel this membership at anytime?" He stated "Of course" and then laughed again, which I later realized is because there's a large fee attached to cancellation once outside of the 3 day cancellation window. It is now July 24th. I have not had one training session, someone is either always late or rescheduling. I live almost an hour away from this gym in a small town. I work and attend college in this area so I thought the program would work out and the trainers would be punctual. That has not been the case.
Desired outcome: I would like my membership cancelled as I have already found another training company. I do not mind paying the cancellation fee but I would prefer if my 4 missed training sessions at $60 each be applied to that fee.
