I was harassed by twilght travel marketers but they eventually managed to convince me that I will get a free holiday if I attend an hour session at Arbez house in the Reeds. I attended this session, which took 2 hours. Towards the end I told them I would like to go home and think about it. I was badgered another 20 minutes to the point where I got angry and stood up to leave. Marvin the manager then said that it is because of people like us that procrastinate that South Africa is a third world country. When they gave us the voucher they said all we had to do was post this off to Trav - Core to redeem the voucher, at no time was the cost mentioned. When I got home I read the voucher and discovered to my dismay that it is not free at all but comes at a cost of R500 and this does not guarantee us of the holiday, and if we don't get a holiday they only refund us 50% of the reservation fee.

The above complaint is true, it happened to us last night as well. Presentation at Farm Inn. We were not interested and received a "vacation getaway voucher". After reading the fine print an administration fee of R399.00 for a midweek and R499.00 for a weekend are requested, only 50% refundable.
What concerns us is that the agents/presenters were unprofessional, not presentable at all and when certain questions/inquiries with regards to certain holiday packages were raised, the presenter, Corrie, after viewing these specific sites, realized that the deals or discounts are not as what they promote, 5% to 10%, and thus quickly showing us the few RSA destinations with savings of 40%-50%.
The "Manager", Mr. R Watson or any body else for that matter never informed/proof us if they are licensed to market Global Travel products. Another matter of concern is that after a brief conversation between ourselves and one of the specific lady consultants, the "Manager" lowered the 15year option from R24, 000.00 odd to R14, 000.00 and was even willing to lower it again, just for us to make a deposit.
My gut feeling say's, I smell a rat. Be very cautious.

We had a similar experience tonight in Glenvista. But our presenters were very well informed and knowledgeable. However, no mention was made of the booking fee although it is marked clearly in red on the front of the voucher, visible for all to read - but no VERBAL mention is made of this at all! Reading the fine print on the back makes me really itchy because when you are promised a "free" holiday, you expect it for 'free' - and not having to pay a booking fee - R399 or R499 is a bit much for a 'reservation' fee! There is no physical or telephone contact details anywhere - only a P O Box listed in Somerset West.

This has been the second time I have been contacted, only this time the name had changed. I had previously sent my complaint to the consumer complaints board but alas no blog was in exictence then. (2009)
I declined and left with my holiday Free vouchers and of course have to pay a booking fee. Whoever took the trash out scored a "free holiday". I was then contacted by one of the consultants that asked if i had joined and was i happy. No, I have not and will not join as i feel that i am being scamed. He was very charming as they all are, and offered me a chance to make some cash if they could buy 12 points from (QVC) me for a Dr. Trenton Bayne that was coming out form the UK in September and wanted to stay in the North/South coast of KZN. He was paying in pounds and I would get R22 600 for the 12 points. I was told to register and pay R750 into the account and was given the tel no of the so called Dr. Bayne. I spoke to him and was assured that he would be paying it into my account on the 15th August 2011.
Bradley Smit, Colin, Trenton and Hilton seem to be in on this scam.BEWARE! they all worked for Trav-Core marketing

Oh wonderful! The same thing happened to us yesterday. We attended a presentation at Makaranga Garden Lodge in Kloof. They were not impressed with our skeptism about the whole deal. We also refused their offer and they handed over the vouchers for the so-called free holidays. When asked to go through the details on how to book we were very quickly told to take them home and read them. All the information we would need is on the back! Oh yes it is there but of course they omitted to mention the fee payable! I feel sorry for the people who got the loud applause and welcome to their new family after they had signed. My first instinct, when they originally contacted me, "Nothing is for Nothing!", is even more steadfast in my mind. Unfortunately I shall probably be quite rude to the next person who phones me with some ridiculous offer!

At the beginning of August I had a call from one of the Trav-Core agents telling me that I had won vouchers for a free hoiday. When I asked if it entailed listening to a presentation of timeshare or such like she assured me that this wasn`t the case
She then made an appointment to me to collect the vouchers at Burnley Lodge. About 2 hours before the appointment someone phoned to made sure I would be there and then said something about staying for an hour. When I asked why I had to stay for that length of time she said they would discuss where I`d like to go for my `free` holiday.
She then said not to forget to bring my cheque book & credit card. I`d been told that there was a competition attached to the credit card number but when I asked why on earth I needed to bring my cheque
book she immediately back tracked and reiterated the story of the competition with the credit card. I must admit that alarm bells began to ring.
Just as I expected I had to sit through a lengthy presentation and got very irritated with the agent - Hein -as he ducked and dived every time I asked him what amount we were looking at. He eventually told me and when I said I would go home and think about it he quickly went to the `manager` and came back with a much better offer. She then arriv ed with the `free voucher` and got quite shirty when I said I would think about the offer and said it was only valid for that day. I had seriously thought about buying in the the concept but her attitude changed that very quickly.
When I got home and read the rules of the `free voucher` and how much one would have to pay for the booking fee I got really annoyed
I asked Hein to let me have his business card but he said he didn`t have one and was very reluctant to give me his telephone number. I looked for Trav-core`s number in the telephone directory and also phoned the exchange only to be told that there was no business by that name registered with the phone company. I sms`d Hein and asked him for their telephone number or e-mail address and got no reply. I then phoned him and his excuse was that he wasn`t at home and couldn`t remember their number but would get back to me - needless to say that more than a month later I`m still waiting.
I then went into the internet and found others complaining about the same things that I am unhappy about. Pity I hadn`t read them before
as I would certainly have not wasted my time going there

BEWARE of TRAV-CORE MARKETING. They contact you under false pretensis, telling you they do market research and for your participation you CAN win a FREE holiday! You win the holiday voucher, but when you do not buy their crap, they give you an incomplete voucher, and according to their terms and conditions this makes the voucher not valid. NO CONTACT NUMBERS on the voucher and NO CONTACT NUMBERS on their webpage! Report them on this site and on hellopeter and any other space possible! It is false advertising and against the consumer act!

We attended a presentation at Glenvista Country Club on the 3rd August. Was handed the getaway vouchers, which we send off with a cheque (R399) which was banked on the 18th August... had NO response whatsoever! In the process to send them a letter by registered post. Will keep you updated. Carl and Helen Lotter

Trav-Core phoned me at work and phoned a lot of questions, what my position at the company is, where I shop, what cell phone provider I use. The next day I was called and told that because of my questions I may get three vouchers, 1 x voucher for a local holiday (valid for a year), 1 x voucher for Hawaii (valid for a lifetime), 1 x voucher for Jamaica (valid for a lifetime). The lady repeated the name of the company four times, but then I got frustrated. I think they purposely misspoke the name of the company in order for me not to go and Google them. We only needed to go to a presentation that will be an hour. All of the people sitting there raised their hands when we were asked if we are sceptical. We sat through the presentation and were forced to go sit with a representative. The whole time they made newer and newer offer in order for us to buy the Discounted Holiday’s. Luckily my husband and I did not have the money for a deposit at that moment and when we asked the representative to come see us at a later stage he said that this is our only chance for the discount and from here-on if we are interested we have to contact Trav-Core directly and will not then be liable for the discount. We received a voucher even though we did not pay or sign for the Discounted Holidays they were selling. So far my husband and I were very impressed. (This was our first time being at such a presentation) Just as everybody were almost done the Manager, Mr Bacon, said that the 1 x Jamaican Holiday Voucher and 1 x Hawaii Holiday Voucher will be posted to us, as they did not have it with them at the time. And so the scepticism started all over again. We went through the fine print and saw that we have to pay a reservation fee of R399 for a midweek holiday and R499 for a weekend holiday. Also that we were not liable to choose the resort we want to go to. We can only choose the destination. You also have to give them a time frame when you want to go. Then they choose the dates you go. You also have to pay the reservation fee in 30 days or the voucher will be declared a void (So this voucher is actually valid for 30 days). After the payment you have to let them know within 90 days when and where you want to go on holiday. Because we were very sceptical I told my husband that I will wait for the overseas holiday vouchers to arrive and then make the payment for the voucher. We were at the presentation 4 weeks ago, and still no Jamaica or Hawaii holiday vouchers. I am so glad I decided to have a look at your posts, just so sad that I only see this now. I was also pulled into a presentation with the promise of a free weekend.
My wife and I attended the presentation and afterwards politely refused their offer and after much haggeling we got the weekend voucher out of them. We paid our R399.00 "booking fee" and have not heard from them since.
We cannot find a contact number for them anywhere. If anyone has their contact details please let me know. I want to nail these despicable crooks.
If anyone wants to join me in going after them, please contact me, Barry at jcremp@xsinet.co.za
