On 8/30/2022, I got an ABS Sensor light on a 2011 Dodge Journey that I purchased at David Taylor CDJR Dealership in Ellisville, M) on 07/29/2022. I took the vehicle to a shop that I go to to have the light checked out. Upon initial revue, the technician determined that it was an ABS Sensor failure. Five minutes after I left the shop, I made a stop where the other passenger in my vehicle noticed a large puddle underneath my vehicle. When I looked under the hood, I discovered that my brake reservoir was empty, which indicated that the brake fluid was what had leaked on the ground. I returned to the mechanic that I used and he determined that the brake fluid was contaminated and this would cause damage to the Master cylinder and, very likely, the entire braking system. The replacement cost of the entire system, at the low end, would be between $3500 and 5000. My mechanic suggested that I take it back to the last place that I had the vehicle service. In this case, the last place that I had it serviced was the dealership on the day that I purchased the vehicle.
The issue that I am having is that the dealership is refusing to accept responsibility for selling an unsafe vehicle that was not road worthy. This condition could have easily cause an accident due failure of the brake system. This condition could have led to significant injury, or even death to several people. Thins situation has been continuing since August 3oth. The dealership continues to delay calling back and tries to hide behind an "AS IS" clause and passing the blame off to anyone else accept themselves.
Desired outcome: My desired outcome is that they cover the cost of the repairs or refund the purchase price of the vehicle.
