I went to see Dr. Rick Rosen for a free rhinoplasty consultation. During the visit, he was very, very rude, very quick, and very cold. He didn't smile once. The quote was literally thrown at me. He did not make me feel welcome at all. Upon following up with him via email, he accused me of never coming in for a consult and that he thought I was contacting too many doctors and had him confused with someone else. This wasn't the case, which he apologized for. So what you might ask. I saw him two days prior and he couldn't remember me. That bothers me. A LOT. A surgeon who is about to chop your nose off not remembering who you were or that you had stopped into the office a couple days before. Of course, he was the cheapest rate around. I guess you get what you pay for. In this economy, I felt appropriate to ask for $500 off his normal rhinoplasty rate. He didn't reply back so I sent him an email. He told me that I should search for a different surgeon. I'm glad things worked out this way. His work wasn't even that good either. REMEMBER - You get what you pay for! Go somewhere else! I could only imagine if he did my nose job. I wonder if I'd be here writing about how poorly it was done! Good Luck!

Dr. Rick Rosen is a talented and dedicated Board Certified Plastic Surgeon. I was practically speechless when I saw the above post about Dr. Rosen for he is surely one of the finest plastic surgeons that I've ever had the pleasure of working with. As a Clinical Nurse Specialist in ENT and Plastics I've worked with many doctors but few can compare to Dr. Rosen. He is a perfectionist with extraordinary surgical technique which leads to fabulous reconstructive results for his patients. Not only is he skilled in the OR but he has the most warm and welcoming bedside manner along with a terrific sense of humor. I cannot begin to understand how or why this prospective patient would have found him unpleasant or unprofessional since that description doesn't fit him whatsoever. Over the years having worked with Dr. Rosen I've noticed that many of my health care colleagues consistently refer their family members and friends to him. There is NO finer compliment within the medical community than to have doctors, nurses and hospital staff select you as their practitioner of choice for themselves and their loved ones. I assure you that there are numerous health professionals and a multitude of satisfied patients who would beg to differ with Jillian333. It's unfortunate that a negative post such as this one now hovers in cyberspace solely because a disgruntled elective plastic surgery candidate didn't receive the discount they had anticipated.
I happened upon this review of Dr. Rosen and could not believe what I was reading. Was this the same Dr. Rosen who gave my daughter back her confidence and smile? It couldn’t be! But sadly, I realized it was and someone has decided to undeservingly blemish the reputation of this outstanding surgeon.
Dr. Rosen recently (summer 2009) performed a rhinoplasty and chin implant on my young teenage daughter. The results were beyond MAGNIFICENT both physically and psychologically. Before selecting Dr. Rosen I visited several plastic surgeons all of which were very qualified to perform this surgery. Dr. Rosen, however, provided more than any other surgeon. First, he took the time to listen to my daughter, dry her tears and understand the reasons why this surgery was so important to her. He provided comfort and advice on how to handle those who tormented her. He then listened and understood what both our expectations for the surgery were. Finally, he displayed an amazing amount of confidence and professionalism. He explained how he would proceed with the surgery with both the eyes of an artist and the eyes of a surgeon. He said, “I can do great things with this nose” and wow, did he! Far from chopping my daughter’s nose off, he sculpted a beautiful nose and chin that fit her face perfectly. She looks like a model.
Dr. Rosen was readily available to me throughout this whole amazing progress. From answering phone calls with simple questions, to making himself available on the weekends for help with bandages, to offering advice on how to deal with her peers after the surgery and returning to school. He was a great support to us! If you looked at my daughter you would never know she had plastic surgery. That is how perfectly it was done! She is a BEAUTIFUL girl, with an improved sense of confidence that she never had before. This is all because of this phenomenal man, Dr. Rick Rosen. He is kind, dedicated, talented, meticulous, and very proud of the work he does. He is an expert in his field. I am very fortunate to have had this fine surgeon operate on my daughter and would recommend him without hesitation. I COMPLETELY disagree with jillian333. It's a shame that she chose to tarnish this great surgeon's reputation. One visit to his office will show anyone she is wrong!
I too was surprised to read that horrible review of Dr. Rick Rosen. He performed Abdominalplasty on me this past spring in conjunction with multiple hernia repair. He was one of only 2 plastic surgeons in the area that my general surgeon recommended. Although the whole surgery itself is very unpleasant, Dr. Rosen did what seems to be a pretty fabulous job. Prior to the surgery he was available to answer any questions and walk me through the entire procedure. He has a great sense of humor and bedside manor and I felt very well taken care of. He called me everyday for a week following my surgery and returned any calls I made to him without any feeling of being imposed upon. I would highly recommend Dr. Rosen and can't help but wonder if the complaint above confused him with another Plastic Surgeon.
I agree with the complaint. I recently had a consult regarding a tummy tuck. I paid 75 dollars for a consult that lasted 20 min. He was short and I too felt rushed. He was delivering information about the procedure quite rapidly and would end his sentences with "Questions?"... then would continue to talk. He never asked me what my expectations were or told me what he could do for me. We also discussed facial fillers briefly. He told me what he would use on me but did not discuss where he would be injecting it. He barely looked at me.
Humor?...are we talking about the same doctor? Very straight faced. Rude?...yes a little. I also thought him to be a poor communicator.
I want a doctor that makes me feel at ease and in good hands. This consult was a waste of money and time.
I travel two hours each way to have Dr. Rick Rosen as my surgeon. While I live close to New York City, I found that no one is as wonderful a doctor, nor is anyone as kind an personable as Dr. Rosen, and I would travel even further to have him work on me. Dr. Rosen is the most kind and understanding doctor I have ever had, and everyone I speak to loves him as well. I cannot say enough accolades about his work, his demeanor, and even his assistant who is always courteous and helpful. I also feel that anyone who complains about him must be talking about a different doctor. Dr. Rick Rosen is a wonderful, humorous, and personable surgeon, and I feel blessed to have found him. Everything he has done for me has improved my confidence and appearance immensely.

I unfortunately had the same experience. He was curt, rude, and at times talked to me condescendingly with a little smirk on his face. Definitely not someone that I would want operating on me! I left the doctor's office feeling extremely uneasy. All of my questions were valid and I deserved answers however he seemed offended that I was continuing to ask questions rather than just automatically believing everything he was telling me. His answer to a few of my questions was a mere shrug of his shoulders and nothing more. What he was suggesting was the most invasive procedure that any other plastic surgeon has recommended to me thus far so I think I deserved a little more respect in my search for answers. I thought that he could help me but he's obviously not the right surgeon for me. I am a smart consumer and don't believe everything at face value. I did not feel welcome by him at all, I'm surprised at the good reviews! Perhaps this is truly a case of Dr. Rosen and Mr. Hyde!
