I will base this matter from my personal experience so that consumers can get a clear picture of how these people operate. Durban Central Panel Beaters are recognized as one of the biggest panel beaters in KZN which is quiet surprising judging from the service they offer.

On the 26th December 2008 I had a car accident of which my car was towed from the accident scene to them. My car was with them for 1 month without any attention, only when I phoned to inquire about the progress they told me they’re still waiting for the respond from the suppliers to give them a feedback (1 month).

Second month they then decided to look abroad and it took two weeks for the parts to arrive and all of this is happening without me being informed. They then started to work with my car and discovered there were other several parts that are still short and took time to locate them again. At some instances they when they transporting parts they come up with stories like the parts got burn on their way or they ordered wrong arts.

Basically my car took four months to be repaired and they got lots and lots of stories. When they are used to you voice when you call they’ll hang up or put you on hold forever. When you ask from other panel beaters they told me that the job should have taken maximum of 1 month to finish regardless of parts being available within the boarders or not.

The website is for Durban Panel Beaters...wrong company. Durban Panel Beaters service far outshines Durban Central Panel Beaters. Atleast Durban Panel Beaters have a website, Durban Central Panel Beaters dont even have a Website.

DCP are linked to towing companies as the day of the accident the tow truck driver wanted to take the bakkie directly there until i intervened .i recieved a call the next morning the bakkie will be towed to there premises and that was just over a month ago and they have not touched the van as yet albeit stripping to asess.some of the staff have an attitude and they dont return calls.nobody can give you a straight answer.it looks like they are doing me a favour but sorry there are much more genuine panel shops out there.nothing is explained upfront as well.

Good day I sent my vehicle to Durban central panel beaters via Hyundai thekwini
For rust repairs under warranty. Vehicle was with them for a week and was given back
By Hyundai on the 9 th may as there were defects. Got given the vehicle late Friday
Afternoon at 4 45. Vehicle still had defects and was taken back on the 12th may
To inspect and they notified me they would need to take the vehicle back for 3days and I
Would need to wait for a courtesy vehicle which would be available by the 16th may.The following week there was still no courtesy vehicle . On the 27th may
I spoke to Wayne and they wanted to inspect my vehicle again and Marlon had a look at
My vehicle and agreed to the faults and said he would just need the vehicle for a day. I sent my vehicle on the 28th may to be sorted out and was told my vehicle would be ready at 3. I only got my vehicle my vehicle back at 4 55 and there was still defects.
I spoke to Wayne about the problems and he came toy workplace to have a look at the vehicle and he said the vehicle would have to come back and he would give me a car.
A whole week went by and he or anybody else never contacted me . On the 10th June I called him and he said he got a car and he would send someone over to drop it. At 12 I called him as no one had come. I called Wayne and he said he forgot and he would drop it off tomorrow. On the 11th June I called him again and he said he said someone would drop the car off. The vehicle only got dropped of at 3 . Wayne said the repairs would take 2 or 3 days. On Thursday 12june I called Wayne to check up and he said the car would be ready on Friday and someone would call me. The whole of Friday nobody called me. I tried calling Wayne in the afternoon and there was no answer, I sent sms and and never got a reply from him. Terrible and disappointing service all around.

Good day

Please note that it is with great concern that I send this email….

On the 24/11/2015 my vehicle a 2015 Mercedes A220 CDI went into Durban Central Panel Beaters for the repair of a side dent. In my consultation with the accessor, I was advised that the door would have to be replaced. Actually the quote to STandard Bank Insurance shows that the doar will be replaced!

It is at this time that I had already understood that this would be the case, as I had 2 insurances on my vehicle.
Meaning, a scratch and dent insurance (SMART, see attached ) and my comprehensive Insurance with Standard Bank Insurance Brokers.

On the assessment of the vehicle with Smart Insurance, a quote for the complete repair of the door would have cost below R3000.00 with no excess
however they had stated to me that in order to repair the door and would not replace the door, meaning using some filling agent as the dent was rippled.

In checking with Mercedes SA and your offices I opted to claim from my Main insurance hence ensuring that a brand new vehicle would have any of its warrantees compromised or lost all together.

Again : I state that on me booking in the vehicle I was assure that the door will be replaced and that other components will also be replaced, However
3 weeks later when I questioned Maggie the consultant at Durban Central I was told that the vehicle had to go in for a respray and that it will be ready on Friday of that week and it was then when I questioned the delay and asked her if the door had been replaced or repaired did she state that it was repaired. ( I state at this point that my numerous conversations with other panel beaters clearly indicate that the door could be repaired with a filling agent, this was against the warranty conditions of a Brand new vehicle and would cause the value of the vehicle to depreciate considerably)

Also this repair cost me R4500 as per my excess however If I knew the same work was been done I would have sent the vehicle to Smart Insure with no cost to myself and no one would be the wiser.

This is unacceptable from a service point to transparency.
