As a large family in chiswell green st albans we have been drinking in the three hammers for over thirty years. Recently a new manager has taken over the pub and has been very rude and ignorant to members of my family even to my uncle who is eighty two years of age. Every christmass for as long as i can remember the family would join eachother for a drink at the hammers, this year we promised never to return to the hammers again, due to bad service, rude and ignorant attitude from the bar manager. Recently an uncle visited us an demanded to be taken to the three hammers for a drink. Unfortunately for our uncle it was the bar manager who served us, he was rude and abrupt, my uncles response was of dissapointment and it was a shame to see such a wonderful pub going by the wayside. Our family along with lots of other familys in the village no longer enjoy a drink at the three hammers.

Following a visit to the Houndsman and Hound in Upminister on the 12th May 2014, I certainly would not recommend this establishment to anyone. The manager's behaviour was deplorable and he would benefit from attending peoples' skills and management courses - a little man with a big ego!
The food was below average and costly for the standard of food served. The area allocated
was compact to say the least, members of the party had to either stand in the doorway of find seating elsewhere. This completely defeated the object, as people were there to remember someone dear they had just said goodbye too.
This along with the blocked overflowing toilets was a real testament to how poorly managed this establishment really is. The only glimmer of a customer focused environment was a member of the bar staff who was apologetic and sympathetic to the situation.
This establishment in all is clearly not customer friendly!
