i just got my emblem mastercard with summery of terms and found out after i activated the card that i had a fee of 228 dollars of the bat and nowhere in the summary papers is it written or what the fee is for. it does say no annual fee and account opening fee it says none. I just want to make people aware of this. I just got informed that Jefferson capitol is a scam company and i'm really upset because i have a balance that i have been paying them, What really makes me mad is thaet i got scammed in the first place by tributegold mastercard and jefferson capitol picked up my account and promised me a second chance. I really need help in this matter for my credit standing is on the line i am in the process of trying to buy a home and these companies are out there scamming good hard working people like me. How are we suppose to know the good from the bad. I need help in this matter for my credit is in jeopardy after i've worked so hard t get back on my feet. Hopefully something is done about this company very soon. Should i keep paying on my balance or what? I don't know what to trust anymore. I hope something is done soon for everyone's sake. I hope this matter is fixed promtly and thank you for the fruad warning much appreciated.

Emblem Mastercard is not a scam. They work with Jefferson Capital to help you pay off debts. When you spoke with Jefferson you likely made an agreement to pay so much a month until you paid off a certain amount. They then transfer a remaining portion of the balance you owe to the credit card with a small available balance. When you pay the card balance on time they can increase your credit limit. My husband went through this program with an old debt he had. We have been using the Emblem card for some time.
The $228 is a remaining amount of debt you own on your original debt. It's just transferred to the card now. Definitely keep paying. It's worth it in the end. It pays your debt off and gives you a chance to help your credit using the credit card.
Good Luck
Tribute and Emblem are owned by the same parent company, which is Compucredit.
I'm glad I went for it, I had three accounts with them in defalt when I lost my job and was waiting for disability to start. Jefferson Capital picked up another non-compucredit credit card I owed and issued an Emblem card to me with some of the balance of the old card transfered to the Emblem card. I have had it over a year and they have increased my credit limit to over $1000.
They do block the card frequently if you do something out of the ordinary, for example, they blocked the card when I added the card to my cell phone account. (The way the company does it is they authorize the card for $1 when it is added, then when it's time to pay your bill, the system authorizes the card for $1, then a few minutes later, authorizes the card for the bill amount. The $1 authorizations fall off in about 14 days, but the credit card fraud department blocked the card because of their strange billing system. I had to call them and tell them it was OK then they released the card.
They will also block it if you make a large purchase, even if you have the credit available. For example, if I had $1500 credit on the card and tried to buy a $700 computer at Wallie World, the card would most likely be blocked automatically. Most CompuCredit cards come with hi fees and low credit limits ($250-$300 credit limit with a huge fee and monthly maint fee as well, plus a fee if you get a credit limit increase.) I don't know what is going to happen when my card expires and because of the new regulations coming next year. Like I said, I have had this card for over a year and have an excellent record with them on this account. I'm glad I got this card because I have been turned down repeatedly for secured credit cards (They always send my bank deposit back and say that I am to much of a risk for them.) Go figure.
I was a victim of identify theft.
So my emblem MasterCard went into default along with othet debts I owed.. Before this happened to me my credit score was in good standing. When I received a letyrr for a second chance with emblem mastercard I took it.
I owed a past balance of about
$300 + dollars. They lowered the amount I owed and I paid it in full right away..Hete is my problem! !
I have had my new card for approximately over three years now.. All this time I have always paid my balance in full. And I paid it befote the due date or right on the due date..
All this time I thought they wrre reporting my excellent payment history to all three credit bureaus? Aftet three years of thinking the three credit bureaus were receiving this information, I recently learned emblem MasterCard never reported my payment history to them!
All I have gone through trying to reestablish my good credit history
Was for nothing! They told me they only report ypur payment history once! When a person doesn't go into default?
And they're lying to me..I also started out with a credit limit of $150.00...After over two years of
all my on time payments I called them and asked why I haven't received an increade on my credit limit? I was told they can't raise credit limits on second chances..
Hogwash! The following month They oncreased my credit limit to
$25.00? Really? I can't tolerate liars! And the two reasons I agreed to a second chance was I always paid my bills on time..Especially, my credit cards.. I owed them money, and wanted to pay them off! Tje second reason was of course to rebuild my credit score..
I am truly disappointed and very upsey over the eay they have treated me!
Has anyome else had this happen to them?
Please help me if you can?
I don't see any good reason for keeping my card anymore!
For what reason?A $175.00 credit limit still after over three years?
And npt being reported to the credit bureaus? O don't need their $175.00 Please help me with advice? It just doesn't pay to be a good customer! 😥😲👎⁉
I'm sorry for the grammar.. I'm having a problem with my cellphone..
I'm sorry, I don't know how much more information you
would like. Please tell me what more information you
need? And I will be more than happy to provide you with more information.
And I do apologize for getting back to you so late in time. When I filed this complaint I thought I submitted
at the time I filed the problem I was having at that time. My husband was the person who ruined my good credit! By committing fraud and forgery on me.
And other people as well. I lost everything. My home
I purchased on my own. And I also lost my business.
And so much more. I am now permanently disabled.
I'm also getting older. I have been trying very hard to rebuild my credit rating. And at my age 61now. I shouldbe able to relax and enjoy all the things I've worked formy entire life! I'm getting there slowly but surely. I apologize for such a long comment. My husband was also very contrlling and abusive.
I have many legal supporting documents to prove all I'm saying is true.. I know I'll never get back my life I was accustomed to ever again. However, the material things don't matter to me at all! I'm only working hard at getting back what I've always believed in. The things that really matter to me.
These are my good name, my good reputation of always paying my bills on time. These are all that matter to me! It's all the really important things that don't cost a dime.. I'm also trying very hard to get back
what really matter in a persons life! These things my husband took away from me after years of the abuse.
Liking myself again, my confidence that I can do things honestly and on my own again. And liking myself again. And truly trying to believe I am an ok person. Not a worthless one. Again, I do apologize for this long comment.. Hope you'll forgive me.
Please, if you need anything at all, please let me know at your earliest convenience.. I will be more than happy to provide whatever you need. I truly hope and pray you can help me... It would mean more to me thanyoucould ever know.. Here is how you can contact me.
