Joining internet dating services are probably better and less expensive then joining a personal matchmaking service. I joined Executive Search Dating in Vancouver British Columbia and was charged $1600.00 with a promise of receiving 15 quality matches within 12 months. They told me what a perfect match I was for their clientele etc... After signing away a contract and my money, I only got 1 match in 2 months, they kept on selling their well rehearsed speech about quality vs. quantity. Obviously their pool of people is very small because the match Executive Search Dating introduced me to was clearly not even close to my request. And to think I wasn't even that picky. I was hoping to meet single white men from 35-50yrs that were physically active and enjoyed the arts. They matched me with a man that had obvious physical problems and clearly could not do any sports. So I started talking to friends and colleagues about how I was basically ripped off by Executive Search Dating and they all suggested the same thing, cut your ties and cancel my membership with them. Go to the Better Business Bureau, Olsen On Your Side, CBC Marketplace and get my story out there and hope that whoever is considering joining Executive Search Dating to shop around first!

Company is a scam. Posts hundreds of A/E jobs that are not real. They are phishing for your resume.

I paid $1600 in Oct 2008 I was promised at least 7 dates a year I had ONE date in 4 months and it was a poor match. They don't deliver . They just sign you up. I am very attractive and at least on the internet you meet plenty of men and several sites are FREE

About: Executive Search Dating - Vancouver. Do NOT sign up.

I learned the hard way, i got suckered into this, i paid, and on the first date they matched me with a girl that was obviously not there to meet anyone, i think they probably paid her to be there, she was there to 'get it over with' and move on.

Few things i learned from this experience:

1. If you are so busy to balance your life and meet someone, MAKE TIME on your own. Other people dont care about what exactly you are looking for, even if you pay them.
2. Do NOT go to a match maker, cos there are no refunds, and you are NOT gona get what you think you are paying for.
3. Be more careful with your hard-earned money.
4. ALWAYS check the reviews on the net about what ever you are planning to do in life, its FREE, and could save you thousands of dollars.
5. Am not as smart as i thought i was, i did something stupid here by paying those guys. But i guess even smart people make mistakes.

Price of this valuable lesson: 3400 $ CAD.

I feel like a complete ###.

Yes, I agree with the other comments. Do not sign up for Executive Dating Service..it's expensive, no dates, no matches to your criteria, no follow ups, suppose to be 1 or 2 dates per month - my last date was 5 months ago and not even close to my "perfect" match! (More like they match any male and female together and say "well this is 1 date") Very frustrating to be paying $200 month to get 0 dates a month - why am I paying them for? They con you into thinking they have 3 or 4 perfect matches right NOW when you go for your interview, then they pull files and tell you they already found your perfect matches and read a bogus description of your "match", then you get suckered into signing up and those 3 or 4 perfect matches weren't even available for a date! (WTF! so where are they? - just a lie to reel you in?). Please take if from me who was too gullible by their sales pitch - Save your money, you can't get your money back as they want you to pay for the year up front. I wish someone posted the truth before I made the mistake and wasted money in signing up.

I wanted to share my experience with Executive Search Dating as well… in short, my experience has been VERY POSITIVE! So much so, in fact, that I am getting married to the woman of my dreams who I met through Executive Search Dating earlier this year.

I joined Executive Search Dating last fall and generally really enjoyed the process overall. The initial interview at their office was quite in depth and I actually learned quite a bit about myself through the meeting… far from being a high pressure situation in fact it was a lot of fun. Once you are a client the process is quite easy… they select matches for you and also set the dates up so you just need to show up basically. I’m a lawyer and quite busy so I did find the process to be a good fit for my work schedule.

No, not all of the dates were great matches, but I did find all of them to be quality people. I was matched with my (soon to be) wife in early spring and we hit it off immediately… she is a really incredible woman and we have already moved in together. In a funny way, it was the fact that we had both met a number of other people through the service before meeting each other that really helped us know that we were so right for each other!

Using a professional dating service might not be everyone’s cup of team, but based on my experience I would highly recommend Executive Search Dating for single professionals in Vancouver.

I agree with some of the other comments people have stated about Executive Search dating. They are a scam! All they could tell me was how attractive I was and how easy it would be to match me up. What a waste of my money. The few people they were able to introduce me to clearly were not professionals. They make you sign a contract, take your $1700 and if you’re lucky, perhaps you’ll go on a few unsuitable dates. Save your money instead!

I understand your frustration, but you were not guaranteed anything. If you had a real case you would go to the BBB and not be complaining in an internet forum. This is obviously a case of sour grapes. Why not spend your time constructively and go find a date yourself.

Executive Search Dating is a complete scam, it is just clever marketing with no substance. I gave them detailed information on what my criteria is, nothing too ambitious...someone smart, down-to-earth, good career, active, etc. Some of the matches were completely off-base. For instance I told them I preferred women who were at least 5'-6" tall since I am tall, they kept matching me with women who were 5'-2"? It was terrible, I was matched with women who I had nothing in common one or met any of my criteria? The service was terrible, they would call me about a suitable match, I would give them some dates that I was available, a few days would go by and I would never hear back from them again about the so-called "suitable match"? My advice, please save your money...Executive Search Dating is a total scam and rip-off!

This service is terrible, dont do it! Aas part of the sales pitch they will give you descriptions of matches that appear to meet your criteria, than you pay and guess what? None of those matches turns out to be available. There really is no matching that happens, it didnt seem to matter how many times I explained I was looking for someone who was fit and into the outdoors, they just could not figure that one out. In their pool they also have people that they have recruited and sop get to join for free. These people stand out as they clearly dont care and arent interested as they didnt pay to sign up. The number of matches in my experience was also very low, way below what they promise you. If you are determined to try this, go to its just lunch instead. They have much much much better customer service, and none of the BS!

These people are just such a show!

I met with the 'senior matchmaker' and she was so rude! She was acting like she was doing me a favor by meeting with me. Ummmm? Then why did you all call me so many times to meet with me? The owner of the company for some reason (probably for sales) does a lot of the calling and meets with people before they do the matchmaking. This would make sense IF the matchmaker wasn't so rude! After the meeting was complete she brought in a file of a person I would NEVER be attracted to. She wasn't listening it feels during the meeting. lol. Oye veh! It just got worse and worse.

ON TOP OF IT ALL they ask you for a 'reference'. This is just a ploy to get other names and numbers of people they can call as potential clients.

The owner called me after my meeting and I let him know about my experience. He was not interested in hearing it. Strange because he called to see if I wanted to sign up but then all of a sudden said they didn't they had men for me. Ummm then why ask me to sign up? Haha. The whole experience was absurd. The matchmaker is the key. Do you think they care about you... really? If you think they do and that THEY will work for YOU - it's only then that you should pay for their services. Otherwise... there are MANY other companies out there.

I inquired about joining Executive Search Dating (ESD) mid-April and was informed that the membership was $2600 for 1 year (for a minimum of 12 dates). My meeting was with the Senior matchmaker.

I had mixed feeling about joining as the cost seemed high to not knowing what I was really going to pay for. Therefore I asked if the Company was willing to do a 6 months membership for half the price ($1300).
The owner met with me to discuss further and here is a brief of the conversation:
- He mentioned that they do NOT provide any ‘discount’ and that all members were paying the FULL price
- He asked me what could he do for me to sign up ‘today’ and I answer: 6 months for $1300.
- Then he replied: ‘what makes you hesitate’ for the full membership: and I answered that I did not know what I was getting for that amount of money.
- Because all members pay the full price, he then offered to do a “trial”: have 2 to 3 dates to see the quality of the members and experience ESD work/service. He said that if I feel that the service they provide is what I expect, then I am committed to the full membership and if I did not like it, I was out. He said that I would have to make a ‘down payment’ for $1300 and could pay the rest after the ‘trial’ if wanting to persue their service.

My understanding was that if I was not happy with the “service and quality of the dates”, I was out meaning that I would not have to pay anything. But if I wanted to persue, it would be $2600 for the full year as they do not offer “discounts”. I thought it was fair as he was responding to my concerns. I would have not joined otherwise. I considered the “downpayment” as a deposit which also implies a commitment from me to them.

Out of 3 dates in a month: From April 22nd up to April 17th.
- One was a disaster in regards to information provided to the “date” about me (incorrect information that may have been mixed up with another female profile)
- Another candidate was not fully single
- Another was nice but did not suit my taste

I do NOT judge the quality of the dates that were presented to me as people are who they are and I DO know there is no guarantee in this type of service. So, my complains is unrelated to the quality of the people I met.

My concern/complaint is about the service provided, outdated files of the candidates and I was matched with some people that were headhunted who did not pay $0.01 to join. Therefore, their credibility and seriousness about dating is false.

After the 3 dates (which after the 1st one, I did not feel to go on any other). I told ESD that I did not want to continue with the service as I was disappointed about how they operate for the cost of the membership:
- Incorrect information given
- Outdated file from the “dates”
- Some people are members for free (their commitment level is different from paying members). I feel there is some dishonesty as I was told in the 1st place that everybody pays the same and that they were NO discount, which came untrue. In addition, one of the date mentioned that ESD call him (and almost beg him) to meet women as he is not a paying member...very wrong !
- I also felt that the senior match maker who I was originally dealing with was ‘out of the picture’ once payment is made and the “junior matchmaker or customer service staff” is taking care of everything else. It feels misleading. I have NOT met those young ladies and they do NOT know me.

When I mentioned that I did not want to persue this further, I was told there is no refund.
Should I have know that it would cost me $1300 for 2 or 3 dates, I would have never joined ESD. This means that being told all members pay full price is FALSE and dishonest as I have been obviously been a member for 1 month at $1300 cost and some are in for FREE.

I complained at the BBB (Better Business Bureau), ESD came back to match me with several dates until they find someone. I only got 1 additional date which was not compatible anyhow so...

THE MORAL OF THE STORY IS ... DON"T WASTE YOUR TIME! Ladies, I don't think they have enough men in their database anyhow.

I signed on with Executive Search Dating after seeing their ad in the Georgia Straight. They charged $3000 for a one year membership with a promise of one to two dates per month. I immediately thought that this seemed like it wasn’t good value and I voiced this right away. I was reassured that they have ‘a lot of people for me’ and that they have ‘a lot of people that meet my criteria’ in their database and that I’d be dating much more than the minimum, at least three or four per month. I’d like to note that the initial ‘Senior Matchmaker’ that did my consultation has never been in contact with me again.

When they have found a match for you, they phone you and give you a very general description of the person and the date details. If you agree to go, only then they will send you a black and white picture. After the date they do a follow up call and ask about the date and ask you to rate it on a scale of one to ten. Of all the dates I have gone on, not a single one fit the criteria that I established. The guys were nice - really, nothing wrong with anyone, but not my type at all. In one case, I was set up with a guy whose type was the exact opposite of me. This was a terrible experience for me and was very damaging to my self esteem and confidence in the process. The most recent date that I went out on, they didn’t do the follow up call until a week later. I have repeatedly expressed to them that the matches they have sent me on dates are not in keeping with my criteria. Why establish my preferences if they are not going to be considered at all?

It’s very clear to me that they do not have the extensive database that they claimed to have in the initial meeting. They also have not replied to my last email, to address my concerns. They refuse to correspond via email at all, so I cannot have a record of these conversations. I was instructed to call during a one hour window - between 9am and 10am, which is very unreasonable to expect from an ‘executive’ like me.

Since they processed my last payment, I feel like they are no longer interested in honouring their contract with me. I am not getting the 3-4 dates they sold me on, not even the minimum 1-2 suitable dates per month, and they are not returning my emails. I have many months left in my contract with them but they have still not delivered a single suitable date to me.

These guys are in it for themselves and to get rich. When I went for my interview I told them that I wanted Caucasian ladies only, after my 2nd date I received a phone call from them saying " Hey Buddy, we have this great Asian Lady for you and we`d like to tell you more about her."I said " stop right there, I told you guys that I wanted Caucasians only, you guys are working for me and if the left hand doesn`t know what the right is doing you can give me a refund." They refused. Last night I went on another through the agency, that Lady showed up dressed in clothes that looked like they were bought at value village.( this not good ) ...These guys don't have enough members in their dating service to satisfy the paying public and all the referrals get drawn from a hat that's why the people are so wrong for me...JOIN PLENTY OF FISH, MATCH.COM, OR CHRISTIAN MINGLE --THESE SERVICES ARE CHEAPER AND YOU GET TO CORRESPOND WITH THE PUBLIC, DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THESE GUYS...[protected] DOLLARS PER ENROLLMENT IS ALOT OF DOUGH ...

Yes these comments are all true. Only two dates had any potential. I have said my criteria over and over again and it’s hopeless.
