I made a purchase at the end of August for $97.
I got a bill Oct. 6 saying I had a past-due payment of $129.36. This included a late fee. I never received a previous bill — likely due to the fact that live in the country and the Postal Service was behind at the time. I called immediately on Oct. 6 and paid the bill in full. They said I would receive a statement credit for the late fee.
I received a bill in the mail on 11/2/22. It was due on 11/5/22. (Again, postal service.) They assessed a $2.93 finance charge and a late fee of $37. Total payment due was $39.93. WHY DO I HAVE A BILL? I should have a credit.
I called immediately and talked to Sandy on Nov. 2 at 7:29 p.m. I was on the phone for 45 minutes to resolve this. She said I would have no payment due and no late charge. My balance was zero.
OH WELL GUESS WHAT?
I received a bill in the mail on 11/18/22. It indicates: — 10/12/22: finance charge -$.21; — 10/12/22: refund of late fees -$37; — 11/10/22: Late fee debit $37
I called customer service AGAIN (third time now) to have it resolved.
So now I owe $78.72. That bring me up to over $100 in late fees and finance charges for a $97 purchase.
I will NEVER shop at Express again, and I will never use their credit card. Please investigate.
