I purchased a breeder pair of Bengal kittens from "Far Out Bengals" in (Lakeside) San Diego, CA. I paid $2800.00 for the pair. When we picked up the kittens, the male had diarrhea. We were told by the breeder (Kismet Watson-Farnum) that she had been treating his diarrhea and that he would be fine. After getting home we took him to the Vet 3 times. The breeder even sent us medication to treat the diarrhea. The Vet referred us to Pet Emergency, where they did a scan on him. Pet Emergency referred us to UC Davis to have him checked out. Arik had FIP and had to be put down. UC Davis did an autopsy on Arik to verify that it was FIP. The kittens had never been outside or exposed to any other cats or animals. I kept Kismet updated on the situation. She said that it was an act of God and that she had no intention of replacing the kitten and that if I'm going to breed cats, I need to get used to the fact that I will loose some. I totally understand that, but it shouldn't be with the kittens that I purchase as breeders! A good breeder should stand behind their kittens. Now I have a female and no male to breed her with. I'm out the $1400.00 from purchasing Arik, all of the Vet bills, the trip to UC Davis. I have nothing to show for it. I paid $1400.00 for my female as a breeder and I will have to get her spayed. It was heartbreaking to loose Arik. For the short time he was with us, he melted our hearts. My experience with Kismet has not been good and I will never do business with her again.
Update on Kismet Watson / Farout Bengals...Richard Norwood took Kismet Watson to court (You can see the youtube video of Judge Alex, Norwood vs. Watson - May 9th)! Richard had his female Benngal bred at Farout Bengals. When the kittens were 8 weeks old he took them back for Kismet to sell for him. When he didn't hear back from her, he checked and she said that all of his kittens had died. She said that they had the corona virus. Richard found out that she sold the kittens. Richard won the law-suit.
I also received and e-mail from another person that purchased a kitten from Kismet. She went through the same situation as I did. She had to have her kitten put down because it had FIP.
This above poster is a fraud. Please refer to her other posts listed under different accounts and user names.
Farout Bengals - Kismet Watson — Sold us a kitten with FIP
RNJen is either Kismet herself or a friend. The person above is correct. She ripped me off too!
The person above is RN Jen a Good Friend that know a lot about F.I.P which apparently you do not. FarOut Bengals is now a Corona Free cattery and it is so sad that you have nothing else to to with your life?
Hi Kismet, Where are Elsa's papers? Still waiting and it's been 5 years now. LOL You are a joke, There should be more controls in place for breeders like you. Karyn
Honestly, you ALL make me sick. Do any of you realize how many homeless cats are dumped, euthanized, starving to death? I know, because a rescue foster. I take in the animals that are left homeless when IRRESPONSIBLE people breed animals intentionally, just to make a profit- and then uppity snobs are willing to pay big bucks or "thoroughbreds." Those of you who think you are "breeders" are a joke and those of you who are stupid enough to support them by spending huge sums of money on inbred (yes- inbred- THAT is what "thoroughbred" actually is, and it is why so many have health issues to begin with) animals are a huge part of the problem.
Be responsible, don't be part of the problem. Don't support "breeders." Adopt from a local shelter or rescue! Those animals need loving homes. We do NOT need more babies. Spay and Neuter!
If issues exist with a breeder, a complaint may be filed with TICA. Information is available on their website with all of the specifics regarding a complaint. This would also apply to a breeder's failure to provide the appropriate paperwork on the cat to the client.
I found Kismet by googling bengal kittens in san diego. My husband is allergic to cats so we needed either a hypoallergenic kitten or allergy tolerable one. After doing a ton of research I thought we would visit her and see if he had a reaction since I couldnt find a bengal kitten to rescue in the area. She had a litter of about 8-10 kittens. After talking to her via email and in person I could tell with her 15 years of breeding she knew what she was talking about. One of the male kittens was sniffing us while the others ignore us. We decided he chose us and would take him home after he finished his last vaccine. We took him home and I decided to use citi kitty to train him to use our toilet. We had an issue with him not going so we called kismet and she gave us advice. The next thing we knew he was going in the toilet with the training kit. She was super helpful and now our kitten is 6 months old and we could not love him anymore. He is beautiful with the most gorgeous coat and sweetest personality. Also, my husbands friend that works with him at the hospital ended up getting one a few months after us from her and is happy too. Highly recommend her.
I purchased a male Bengal from Kismet. Our baby boy is 2 years old and diagnosed with thyroid disease. He is now on medication every day for the rest of his life. Kismet was very rude AFTER the sale was completed. Then she moved from San Diego to Arizona. She is shady and not trust worthy. Don’t buy Bengals from her
So sorry to hear about your boy. My 10 year old "Elsa" was on meds her entire life too. (Many postings above over the years about her FIP/Corona Virus ). She finally passed away last year from mutated corona virus "FIP". It's a shame she is still breeding Bengals and continuing to break hearts with her poor breeding habits. I can't believe someone hasn't stepped in by now to stop it. She is inhumane to the sick cats she produces and the loving people that purchase them. After she has your money in her hand, she is finished with you.
I now have 3 new Bengals that just turned a year old...very healthy and from caring and good breeders. It actually took 3 kittens to fill my empty heart after sweet, smart Elsa.
Thanks for the reply. I’m also sorry for your loss. It’s really tough to be starched to a pet and leave them. I had a 14 year old Bengal that was amazing and after he passed I felt like I needed another. After buying from kismet, I see how cruel breeders can be. We love our Bengal and will treat him as long as we can. It’s a shame that she is able to breed. Take care
