The company Farm Business Consultants came to my house to do accounting. But they were interested only in picking up the membership fees from their customers. The consultants didn’t reply to our questions, when they came and told us to phone to their office. When we called to the office, we couldn’t find these consultants, who visited us. Seriously, it was big scam and we decided to stop paying them.
You made a good decision firing this company. In my town they have a reputation for collecting thousands of dollars of fees and never doing the work - sometimes for 2, 3, 4 or 5 years at a time. Plenty of folks have had their bank accounts frozen by the CRA because of them. The ‘accountant’ they have working for them around here actually isn’t an accountant at all, he only has a high school diploma. I know of at least a dozen people who’ve jumped ship and found other accountants after bad experiences with this outfit.
I had a horrible experience with FBC as well. Money was collected, work was not completed resulting in an CRA audit. I had to hire 2 companies to correct FBC mistakes to my corporate and my sole proprietor filings. A very big mess and additional costs.
