home warranty
Much like the others who have reviewed this company, I failed to do my research. After purchasing my home in April of this year, the power went out in one of our bathrooms sometime in the middle of the night (6 months later). At the time the power happened, nothing was turned on, plugged in and There was nothing using the power. In the morning I attempted to flip the dedicated GFCI breaker at the electrical panel and it would not turn on, it was completely fried. I placed a service request and FNHW and they sent out one of their contracted "specialists" to take a look. This was an electrical vendor who has had a long relationship of working with FNHW company (conflict of interest). It was clear that the the electrician had a pre-scripted response to the electrical issue, a "power overload" which he had said before he even opened up the panel to investigate, total scam. Despite the numerous publications and specific wording on their website that state they cover "electrical components and electrical wiring", the warranty does not somehow cover power over loads?! What world are we living in where this is acceptable and/or legal? I think a class action lawsuit is long overdue for this company and it should be organized. They charged me another $75 for this waste of my time staying home from work. It was also a waste of my time speaking with the three "customer service professionals" who should have no business working serving customers or working in role that requires them to interact with people; prisoners are spoken to with more respect. All three "professionals" were rude, one laughed at the situation, and another hung up on me after I asked for a refund of my warranty. I will make sure anyone I l know is seeking advice on a new home warranty to stay WAY clear of this "service".
their so called contract
I have been with Fidelity for several years, paying but not needing service except the last couple of years when I have requested service, got delays, rude customer service, terminal hold on the phone, etc. The last service call was the kicker when I called about a rusted water joint under my kitchen sink. The plumber came and said it wasn't the joint but the clasp holing the joint and that part wasn't covered. He said he could fix it by replacing my perfectly good but old garbage disposal, After he replaced it, the new one didn't work and he said the outlet was wired wrong and would need an electrician which took a couple of days because I had to go through Fidelity. After a few days the electician showed and had the problem fixed in under a 1/2 minute. The plumber Fidelity had sent for a simple joint replacement, but instead had replaced my perfectly good garbage disposal, had plugged the new disposal in the wrong outlet and that was why it didn't work. The electician was disgusted and said he would report it to Fidelity.
I am on a fixed, limited income and really can't afford this insurance so I asked to cancel and get a prorated refund. I got a letter from Fidelity that stated that 128 unused days were prorated for a total of $229.12 which seems about right but then they had the gall to say that the contract could not be canceled except for (a)non-payment, (b)for Seller if close of escrow doesn't occur or (c)fraud; and that there were $50 administrative fee and $512.97 service costs (not sure what for) which leaves $333.85 owed.
I say this is fraud (misrepresentation of facts by Fidelity) on there part because they don't want to follow thru with authorized repairs and have bogus contractors who add extra services and parts then don't even know how to plug in the part properly. I found out later that the sink part cost under $10 and a friend of my son's could have talked him thru the repair. Instead there's the charge for the plumber's 2 visits, the garbage disposal I didn't need and the charge for the electrician who got a good laugh at the stupidity of the plumber in not know how to plug in the disposal. I'm assuming that is what the charges are for.
Under the circumstances cited above I feel the desired resolution would be a full refund of $655.00 contract price because of the ineptitude of Fidelity in provide competent repairmen that caused a lot of inconvenience and stress for me. I had to cancel 2 doctor appointments to wait on the servicemen.
service order and vendor problem
I've been with Fidelity for years actually worked with a Raney Derthick when I was a realtor and except for this service request everything was always pretty good. I first called the last few days of August or beginning of Sept to make a service request as our airconditioner was leaking and it was extremely hot. The first girl I talked to was African American I could barely understand her she tried to help us but said the vendors were to busy with the heat and such and couldn't help us but she would try. She never called me back, just totally dropped us. The 2nd time I called was another African American who also was nice had good intentions but didn't do a thing for us. The 3rd time I called I got a Caucasian man who actually LAUGHED at our situation and just told us to leave our home. He could care less about our age 75 and 71 me with a heart condition. Finally someone called or e-mailed us and finally made an apt for us for a week or so out. I'm getting tired of typing Here it is 9/18 and our air conditioner is still broken down and the owner of the company Service Solutions was so disrespectful on the phone to my wife made excuse after excuse and said the total opposite of what his workers have said, He is a Terrible person, we just don't know what more we can do PLEASE can you help us, I cannot take the stress with Service Solutions anymore PLEASE someone call my wife ASAP [protected] I keep asking for someone to call but no one does and we just don't know when or if competent workers will complete our job This company you referred me to the owner is a part time disc jockey has 3 more employees one is just a helper and the owner is just terrible to talk to, at first everything seemed OK but then when one of his workers put their foot in our ceiling and it caved in a bit he came up with every excuse I know youwould not have been liable for the ceiling damage and we understand that but when one of his workers damage it more aren't they at least partially responsible? Please help we can't take the heat!
Central air conditioning system
After providing proof of no pre existing conditions with the air handling unit, fidelity national home warranty denied our claim to cover the air handler. Their only rebuttal was that the drain pan had rust on the surface. Compressor was replaced on 7/21/17 and the techs did a complete inspection and pressure check and found no issues. After speaking with representative Ashey, she transferred us to her supervisor who was very rude and accused us of falsely filling a claim 3 days after we closed on our home, even though it's been over 2 weeks. Buying this house has been a blessing for our family but dealing with Fidelity National Home Warranty has been a nightmare!
air conditioner
I have called several times to get my AC fixed, waiting on hold about an hour and 45 minutes each time and they keep sending unauthorized vendors to fix it. They show up and say they can't do anything. It has been ten days of this. It is the dead of summer! I've got the warranty and paid the service fee for nothing? I wish I had chosen a local warranty company so I could speak face to face with someone and hold them accountable.
Buyer beware!!! Poster boy for scam artist!
My HVAC system has failed and is not repairable. A replacement was recommended by HVAC technician and submitted to FNHW. Six weeks have passed without any calls or confirmation from FNHW to proceed. Winter weather has made living in my home very uncomfortable but I believe FNHW is purposely delaying hoping I will contract outside FNHW to replace my HVAC system then they can deny my claim. I have spoken frequently to FNHW customer representative but get ambiguous answers. When I asked to speak to a Supervisor he first said they wasn't one to speak too. Then after I insisted he said he get one. After a 20 minute wait, I was given a voicemail box to speak to. This is an obvious delay tactic. Consumer protection is very, very weak and these scammers know it. They face no real penalty or fines...NONE. I would warn any consumer to stay away from FNHW but they also operate under other company names. Home warranties are useless.
Basically, all home warranties are scams. Ask any realtor, for example. They no longer recommend sellers to even bother with a warranty. You expected a whole new HVAC system from them? That's like wishing for the moon. It ain't gonna happen. Get another HVAC repair person in there. It's probably fixable. That dude just wanted to sell you a whole new system. He ain't no repair guy.
Garbage Disposal and Air Conditioner
We moved into our home and shortly thereafter encountered a failed Air Conditioning Unit and failed garbage disposal. Fidelity National Home Warranty sent out incompetent vendors that have been to our property to perpetuate the home warranty scam of collecting $65.00 for each service call and then diagnosing non-functioning units as working though they did stop working and denying to fix or repair. Their incompetent plumber placed ice in our broken garbage disposal and ran hot water in it and diagnosed it as working. Fidelity denied the claim stating their vendor said it was working. We were forced to buy a new one (same exact one) and replace it because the broken one was causing food to be retained in the disposal and the water to overflow the sink, but according to fidelity and their vendor this is how a garbage disposal is properly working. Once we replaced it, we have a fully functional disposal with it properly irrigating food and water down the drain. Our Air Unit stopped working and their vendor diagnosed it as needing Freon, though a second opinion on our own diagnosed it as having failure to the coil and ice build up -mechanical failure. Fidelity requested to have another diagnosis that told us the unit needed maintenance. However, after we agreed to and had the company their vendor suggested to complete the maintenance, that company said they could not complete the maintenance on a broken unit. We contacted Fidelity and they said all claims have been denied, this is after one of their representatives also made accusations that our realtor and inspector collaborated to fix the air conditioner long enough to sell the home or maybe the sellers added freon to it to make it work to sell the home. We are just the Buyer's and found our realtor, inspector and sellers to be honest and reputable people. The only company that lacks professionalism and tact is Fidelity and they are a scam. The fact is that they have now declined ANY of the failures associated with the A/C that was functioning when we moved in, they have also fully declined the breakage of the garbage disposal which like I explained we ended up purchasing and replacing ourselves to regain functionality. With regards to the AC, this is taken DIRECTLY from our home inspection report: [P] 2020.12: Cooling system is working as needed. The condensing AC unit is older at the left exterior of the house and may need to be upgraded soon. Servicing the system annually is recommended. See Photo(s) 2020.12. Fidelity says they refuse the claim because the unit isn't big enough for the home. I asked if we could pay the difference for an upgrade and they honor the broken unit replacement then and it was denied. i asked if we could replace the same unit and it was denied. As of now, it is NOT working as needed and Fidelity is in the legal WRONG to not address this failure. We were not asking for all AC items in the report we provided to them from our outside (trusted) vendor to be resolved by Fidelity, we were simply asking for the FAILURES to be repaired or fixed per the contract of Fidelity National Home Warranty which they refuse to legally honor. There are two young children and an elderly Mother living in our home with temps exceeding 85 degrees for over a month. Our youngest daughter nearly passed out from the heat while Fidelity had us waiting for their review of our claim only to deny it. We could have clearly went ahead and fixed it ourselves had they told us they were scam artists.
Awful service
Awful. Called for service on garage openers that were not working. Sent tech, who inspected, called Fidelity, then informed me it was not covered, but he could fix it and my total costs would be $100, which I paid on the spot. Then I get an invoice from Fidelity for a $65 service fee. The contract states the service fee is due even if the claim is not covered. That is not nice, but I get it. What is not okay is: 1) I clearly explained the problem over the phone when ordered the service, so they should have told me then it was likely not covered, and 2) I paid their agent service tech the amount he said was my total cost, $100, which I expected included any fees due by Fidelity. I called to discuss and they were rude and did not budge. They state they will not process any additional service calls until I pay up.
Dis honest / Bad co.
Bad Co., Rude custermer service people . They will not fix my furnace, which has been red tagged by propane co. and by a Certified HVAC tech. . The is the second thing that they had denied to fix now on my home .
They sure do want you to buy their warranty but then will not go by their own contract and make up rules on the spot to be able to not cover the claim. So now what am I supposed to do, this means that I a SR. Citizen will be without any heat this coming winter., I live on a very small SS check, do not have any money to buy a new furnace and have it installed. This co. is a rip off. .
RIP OFF
This is the biggest con artist company I have here run into. The warranty is complete crap and covers NOTHING! They wont even fix a leaking shower pan, "Oh we don't cover that" yes a leaking shower pan that is leaking into the bed room and causing mold or they will not even snake a drain, everything is "Pre existing" I said this is not health care. They give you some ### a mime excuse and then are rude to you on top of it. DONT EVER USE THIS COMPANY!
Changed reasons 3 times
The home warranty was bought by the seller so we had no choice in the company but we can promise that we will never buy from again or recommend this company. First of all, we had poor customer service. We never got calls; we had to call them to find out any thing. The rep called us back once after we had to call her. First the company said, they shouldn't have to cover cause the incident happened the night of clothing. Their next excuse after us proving closing and no waiting period...was that it was preexisting. After sending two papers showing it was cleared by two separate inspectors, they decided their third excuse was that they didn't cover sump pumps- only waste pumps. Same thing people! Thanks for making a bad situation worse. We will be calling the BBB!
Repairs Often Denied
We purchased a Fidelity National Home Warranty for our primary residence, which has a pool. So of course we paid extra to cover all of the necessary equipment, that's the reason a person purchases warranty insurance. The company took 7 days to get a repairman to our home, 7 days of the pool pump not circulating! I had to brush and treat with chemicals to try to keep the algae at bay. The repairman finally shows up and after 30 minutes or so has to leave for a part. He returns 4 hours later to tell me that he has the part, but the part he went to retrieve is not the issue. The cleaning pump has gone out, I'm told. He attempts to argue with me that the METAL PUMP was corroded by the chlorine...the same chlorine we swam in almost everyday without any damage to our skin, eyes or hair. He says, he has to leave again and check in with Fidelity on whether or not they will cover the cost to replace the pump. OF COURSE Fidelity DECLINED TO FIX IT! We paid EXTRA for the Pool coverage, only to be denied the repair. The sad part of this story is, the pool repairman, never called and neither did Fidelity. When he didn't return 3 days after disconnecting the pump from my pool plumbing, I HAD TO CALL TO FIND OUT THE STATUS! This company doesn't know the first thing about service!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
The seller of the home selected Fidelity and paid for the "coverage". % of 7 items specifically listed in the "contract" are not even in the home - e.g., bar refrig, stand alone freezer however Well Pump is specifically indicated and this is where the repair problem is. Referring to the contract terms it states only items within the home foundation are covered EXCEPT WELL PUMPS and it further states all parts integral to the well pump are covered.
My requests for service have been denied because they say they don't cover anything "Outside".
Initially they sent a plumber who I paid the $65 service charge. He then told me he knew "nothing about wells". He then said he arranged w Fidelity to send a well contractor but no one called.
This is a violation of code because there is no water to house and toilets cant be flushed. I wrote Fidelity a letter that I faxed because I cant get through on the phone due to hours on hold and got no response.
Its a total racket, a scam operation and Fidelity should be investigated, fined and made to change their ways. CONSUMERS BEWARE OF FIDELITY HOME WARRANTY.
HVAC
If you are about to purchase your home, be aware of Fidelity Home Warranty as your home insurance.
It all started last summer... I got a house and decided to buy their insurance.
Through out all this, please keep in mind I live in Arizona where the summers are extremely long and hot.
I should have started this blog last year as obviously I have forgotten the details but in summary, we ended up NOT having air conditioning for three long months!
As it turns out, my A/C system is full of problems but as you can imagine, the insurance company will never make the correct repairs, they will just keep patching the issues until you go crazy!
During those long 3 months, Fidelity was kind enough to reimburse me up to $45 for a fan... really?
They kept sending different HVAC companies until they got the answer they wanted. It turns out I needed a new coil. Well, it took a month and a half to get the new coil fabricated. By the time my AC was up an running, the summer was gone and we never had a real chance to see if the AC was working... But I always knew there I would have issues this summer based on what all the other HVAC companies told me.
I was afraid of what would happen in the summer and...
unfortunately the summer is here and as you can expect, the A/C broke down right away.
I have been told by a number of HVAC people that this system is not going to last all summer.
Unfortunately, I also know that Fidelity will never replace the system. They will only "patch" it to make it work for a little while...
So, the summer started and the A/C is not cooling the house.
I called Fidelity, they send an HVAC contractor 2 days later (5/23/12) and their finding is that a NXT valve is failing in the coil so it is not sending enough freon to the compressor. This is his reasoning for the compressor's failures...Again, this is the brand new coil that was installed last summer.
Obviously at this point I know they will start with the finger pointing as of who's fault it is. Before the HVAC technician left, he told me he called Ofelia with Fidelity. Ofelia with Fidelity decides to call the company that came and replaced the compressor last summer, not the coil company...
Thank goodness I decided to call Fidelity and after getting no where, I asked to talk to a supervisor.
Guess who answered... Jason, my friend from last summer. He even recognized my voice...
I am sure he talks to thousands of people but that tells you how many times we spoke last summer.
I told him my system is in terrible shape from what i have gathered and I am willing to spend the money and put an entire new system. All i want is for Fidelity to give me the cash value that it would take to make the necessary repairs to have a working AC. Of course, he said he can offer the cash value for the valve...(less that $20).
After explaining the issue, he decides to call the compressor company even though they did not do the coil repair. I was not going to complain because quite frankly, the company that repaired the coil was horrible and very difficult to work with.
Jason promised to call me back either that day or the next (today) with an update...
We will see, in the meantime, i have no AC in my house again!
Today is May 24 and, just like last summer, Jason the supervisor never called.
All of a sudden I get a call from the HVAC technician that he is home waiting for someone.
I leave work (just like I had to do the yesterday) to make sure they get it.
I explain the whole situation and he says the system is a nightmare but that he can't say that to the insurance company. He can only address the situation.
After 3 hours of working on the system, adding freon, etc. etc. he says that YES the NXT valve is wrong, the are leaks on the piping so freon is leaking and that he will ask the insurance company for approval to repair the valve.
I left work at 2 just to be with the technician so that he would make the exact same assessment as the guy the day before? Wasn't he here supposedly to make the repair?
As he is leaving, he advises no to turn the AC on. While it is working (since he just added freon and stuff) the fact that there are repairs not done might make the unit to completely break so he said that per their policy, he is leaving the AC off and will advice Fidelity of that.
He finishes by stating that in case I decide to turn the AC on and something breaks, it would be on record that it was me who turn it on. It is my AC, it is my house, it is temporarily working but i can't turn it on!
The technician left and of course I was not happy due to:
1. his lack of honesty, he told me this system was a mess and would keep failing but he would not say that to Fidelity.
2. as far as I know, he was sent to make that repair... not to waste 3 hours of my time to tell me the exact same thing I heard the day before.
One hour after the technician left, I decided to call my friend Jason and find out how long it would take for Fidelity to approve the repair of this valve. I was on hold for ONE hour and did not take my call.
I left a voicemail and I guess we will see if he calls back tomorrow...
Again, here is another day without AC

I'm having the same problem in Texas ... and my expertise is in Thermodynamics, Psychrometry, and pumping heat. The insurance representative doesn't have a clue as to why the condensing unit needs to be replaced instead of replacing the compressor. The estimated useful life of a Furnace/Condenser is 20 years according to HUD Guidelines. Control and safety devices of this type of equipment also have a limited cycle life for "reliable" operation.
I had to explain to the HVAC rep why the system wasn't cooling (kinda make you wonder where they get these guys), and he even agreed that the 23+ year old condenser needed to be replaced. He even stated that Fidelity would only band aid the system (ie: replace the compressor) rather than spend money to replace the condenser.
In Texas, we've got the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) to rely on, and I've submitted my claim to them for assistance. We'll see if the department has any backbone to this insurance crook!
Disgraceful service
Absolutely, positively, without a doubt, one of the worst companies to ever attempt to market customer service. If you hear of this company, receive a flier for this company, or have the misfortune of buying a home that is "covered" by this company, back out of the deal, steer clear of this heartache. I have this company's warranty coverage on a new home that I recently bought and my next step in order to salvage any of my sanity is to cancel the contract and sue them in court for damages to my home. They cannot keep appointments, they cannot recall proper appointment times after they are made, they do not return phone calls to handle complaints or service, they use unprofessional companies that don't know what they are doing and will damage your home, they can't get parts ordered correctly and they can't get the repair men to order their own parts. The latest round with this company meant having parts shipped to my house where they sit for a month until the service man can visit and try to install them...if he could ever keep the appointment. They don't give courtesy calls when they are late and when or if they ever do show up, it'll be when you are not home. If you were home and saw them at your door ( as my daughter did) they will lie about their visiting times after they have left your home and moved on. It has been 2 months waiting to get service on 3 of 4 appliances by this company. The 1 appliance they did show up and take from my home for repair, was my refrigerator. They scratched my hardwood floor getting it out, scratched the front door, and left me without a refrigerator for 10 days. Then when they returned it, it sounded the same and had broken trim and a loose handle on it. They just don't care about customers and they should not be allowed to continue business in the service field.
Poor Customer Service
We purchased the one year home warranty from Fidelity (what a mistake). My plumbing backed up within a month of the purchase. They sent a plumber out and temporarily fixed it. We continued to haveissues wit it, called them again, another plumber came out. He was great, told us the plumbing under the sink was constructed incorrectly. The Fidelity rep wanted to talk to me. She was rude and unprofessional as I explained the situation. When I explained how it became clogged (per the plumber) she said "I don't care how it got clogged". I insisted on speaking to her supervisor, she said "You will only get an answering machine".The next day I filed a formal complaint...but word to the wise, they are TERRIBLE>

BAD SERVICE
DON"T EVER BUY A HOME WARRANTY FROM FIDELITY NATIONAL HOME WARRANTY. BAD SERVICE EVER AND TRYING TO REFUSED SERVICE BY MAKING UP SO MANY EXCUSES. I WILL NEVER IN LIFE RENEW WITH THEM. THEY WILL MAKE YOUR LIFE MISERABLE WHEN YOU CALL THEM FOR SERVICE.
I can't agree more. I didn't have A/C last year for three months and now it broke again... here it is:
If you are about to purchase your home, be aware of Fidelity Home Warranty as your home insurance.

Refusal to correct title on property
DO NOT PURCHASE TITLE INSURANCE FROM THEM...I notified this title insurance about an error of omission they made on our title insurance and lthough we paid them for a title insurance during closing, they have refused to correct their own mistake and their manager lYNZY DUSET has refused to return my phone calls. We purchased two property (a house and a plot in the back of the house). The contract clearly states this and so does our appraisal and survey, however, three years ago, we realized that the plot is still under the seller's name. We have been trying to get fidelity/ Ticor to correct this mistake. They informed us that our insurance only covered one property. However the insurance was for the total price for the both property and not just for one. but the agent recorded the wrong description. We explained to them that parcels 1 and 2 were purchased as one property as stated on our contract. We have been paying taxes on the plot and fidelity has confirmed that the seller is not claiming any title to the plot but they would like us to purchase another title insurance from them for the same property before they can make changes.
BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
We have been trying to get Fidelity/ Lawyers Title of Omaha to back up their title insurance. They had more errors and omissions, missing easements missing heirs, Literal drops in the chain of title by not checking the records. It is clear due diligence was not used but a simple copy of the previous description that used on the last conveyance of title off their in house computer.
They had dropped pertinent legal descriptions and a third party claiming to be an heir of previous owners claimed our ingress and egress in a trespass to try title. Where was Fidelity...Sitting in their office drawing up denial letters never addressing the actual issue which cost us over $350, 000.00 in legal fees and we had to pay $85, 000.00 to purchase access to our property.
They seem to think I will be one of those that gives up and walks away. NOT HAPPENING...
Since 2008 tip now (2015) I will keep the claim alive. Send more documentation of fact then I hit the media, newspapers, stock markets, blogs what ever it takes to make sure they either pay up or close they're doors forever.
Insurance Fruad
I purchased the Home Warranty Insurance Program from Fidelity National Home Warranty and they are a rip off. I pay an additional premium to cover my pool and spa. My insurance coverages states it covers the pumps of the spa. The company sends out a repair company who doesn't know anything about spas, he tells Fidelity that the part is inacessible. My claim is denied based on this. I call the company back and tell them I can move the spa because it is an above ground spa and it can be moved, then they tell me that it is because they don't cover the jets of a spa, which is true, but I tell them it is not a jet it is the pump. I hire a contractor to come out who knows what they are talking about and they confirm in writing that it is the pump not the jet. So I mail a letter stating that I want my claim reopened and that this part should be covered. I get another phone call back stating that they spoke to my contractor and that they confirmed that it was the jet and not the pump. I call back my contractor to have him fix the problem because its 7 months now and he tells me that the insurance company never called him. So I am going to take this to small claims court and I am going to make sure that every one I come into contact with knows this company is a scam and if you know of anyone I recommend you do the same thing.

Insurance Fraud
Complaint Rating:
I first must appologize to Fidelity National Home Warranty for the complaint I submitted on 2/9/2010 as it was suppose to be First American Home Buyers Protection Corporation. My complaint is for insurance fraud. I purchased the warranty protection for my home, spa and pool. I submitted a complaint...
Awful experience
Fidelity Home warranty uses nice sounding words like 'A Fidelity National Home Warranty (FNHW) provides both the homebuyer and seller with 'peace of mind' when it comes to repairs and/or replacement of a home's major systems and appliances' when selling their policy. But I feel its a complete rip off.
Recently, I filed a service request when I found out, there was water under my kitchen sink. They sent a plumber, who determined the leakage was due to wearing of sealant around the faucet. My wife asked him to fix it but he refused saying Fidelity insurance will fix /replace the faucet but will not cover any failure due to wearing off of sealant or caulk. He demanded $50 service charge for coming to this conclusion. I was so surprised by his conclusion, that I called Fidelity and asked them about this. They told me to read my contract and lo and behold, their contract excludes any wear and tear due to caulking. So in essence Fidelity is telling me caulking is not part of plumbing. I can imagine if at all Fidelity replaces a faucet, the plumber they send is not going to put a water seal around the faucet.
Why does Fidelity do this ? I am sure they conducted an audit, which showed them that most of the service calls they were getting regarding plumbing was due to failure of sealants or caulking. So they decided to exclude it. What a nice way to deny a claim. On top of it, I cannot even cancel their plan as I already paid for it upfront. What a 'peace of mind' for Fidelity, they have your money.
Is it worth buying their policy just for the sake of just big appliances ? I had another bad experience last year. I had a GE Profile Stainless steel Refrigerator in my house. For some reason, the freezer could not maintain low temperature. I called Fidelity and they sent out a Sears Home technician. He came out and changed a part. Now the refrigerator started freezing everything kept in it. Even milk and food kept in it would freeze. I called Fidelity again. They sent the technician. The problem did not go away. I made nearly 6 service calls, and the technician came nearly 10 times. Every time they give you a 6 hour window and I had to take half day off from work to wait for him. I called Fidelity and asked them, why are they not simply replacing the refrigerator as they promise in their contracts. They response, they never promise, they will replace an appliance. They will think of it only when, the total cost of repairs exceeds $1000 for a $1600 refrigerator. Even after 6 service costs, the total cost was only $600.
So in essence Fidelity is telling me it never cares about its customer's convenience or 'peace of mind' as they put it in their ads. The supervisor I talked to never cared about all those half days of leave I had to take from my job and all those $50s I paid for service calls. They were only hoping I will get fed up and replace the refrigerator my self or stop calling them. Thats what I ended up doing in the end. I could not afford to buy another refrigerator but I just started buying milk for 2 days. It never brought me 'peace of mind', it only brought me a big hassle. I will dump them when I get first opportunity.

Bottom line! Home Warranty is a scam. Don't buy any of them. Do you think that you could get they money that easily?
I'm a customer with Fidelity National. The policy was bought for us by the seller of our house.
I'm not sure that you're being reasonable. Do you have any idea what plumbers charge? $50 for having a plumber come to your house and diagnose a problem is cheap! If the sealant is the problem, you can go to Home Depot and reseal the sink yourself for maybe $10.
Any insurance policy has exclusions that exclude the most common problems and they do spell out what they cover and don't cover in the policy.
He reasons people hate insurance
I have been a "customer" for Fidelity for about a year. It came with my house that I purchased. I first called them to inquire about the service and was told all these great things about the coverage. When it came time to call them for service, they had no problem sending out some random guy from a never heard of company and taking my 50.00 deposit. But it was clear that nothing was ever covered. We wanted a leak inspection, they sent a plumber who had no equipment whatsoever and he said that he was sent since he needs to be sent first before a leak detection company was sent. When my pipes were not working, they sent someone only to tell us he could not do anything since Fidelity did not cover services that required going on the roof.
I have other examples, but the worst part about their company is the absolute rudeness and arrogance of the staff. As soon as you get on the phone to discuss why something was not covered, there is this tone of superiority that I cannot even describe. They speak to you as though they are a service technician expert and a contract attorney paid to argue against you, when in reality, they have no idea what they are talking about. They try to speak in technical terms when really they have no training in that field...only training in sounding like they know what they are talking about.
It came to a point in the conversation where I asked, "Well, are you a plumber? Do you have any training in plumbing? Have you ever worked with a plumber? Have you read any books on plumbing?"
I am an attorney and work with hostile people all day. I have been in situations where people were going to prison for 30 years and they had a better disposition than this company. Fidelity Warranty staff is the most hostile, impolite, and arrogant staff I have ever come across in my entire life, both professionally and personally.
They tell you about all this great coverage, but the second you try and get something, it seems that their sole job, their sole reason for picking up the phone, is to tell you why you are not covered.
Bottom Line: The actual problems they cover are small and would be cheaper to fix yourself than to pay $50.00; They send people from non-reputable companies who have little interest in helping you; Their staff is arrogant and hostile. Contract at your own risk!

I have a massive leak created by one of the plumbers called to fix a clogged sink. The water had to be shut off at the road because it is pouring out of my cabinet. They can't seem to get a plumber back out to my house to fix the problem they created. I have waited for over 1 week! When I call they hang up! Unbelievable!
This company is the biggest con artist company I have ever dealt with. Everything is either "Not covered" or " Pre Existing" They send some yahoo out who has no clue what he is even doing, gives a wrong and over exaggerated diagnosis. Then "Fidelity" the company refuse to fix it because it is not covered. My shower pan is leaking, guess what it is not covered either, apparently the cover NOTHING. This is a RIP OFF COMAPNY! Stay away, if i could get enough people together, we should take a stand!
I called Fidelity because I came home after Christmas and my heat wasn't working. They sent someone out to fix it, who came about 4 or 5 times over a month long period and kept replacing parts but the heater never worked. The thermostat inside my home was reading in the low 50s (in Arizona). Finally, I got on the phone with them and after refusing to deal with any of the first line people that answer the calls, I spoke to a supervisor, who told me that the problem was that they no longer make replacement parts for my heater so the company was guessing on alternate parts that might fit it. I told them if they correct part was no longer manufactured they had a responsibility to replace the entire unit. Ultimatley they agreed but this took another several weeks. By the time they got my heater working I had developed bronchitis (which I believe was caused by living without heat for so long.)
I purchased a car from Kelly automotive group with 5 year car guarentee in nov 2005. I paid 2200.00 for the guarantee In july of 2009 it needed trany work done. When the dealer called for work appraval they were told the contract had expired in January of 2008 seems in the small print if the car had over 6000 miles on it when sold the contract starts on january of manufacture date. I paid for a five year contract and received a 2 year. I will bite the bullet but wanted other people to BEWARE or AVOID this company
oven unrepairable.
FHW told me they can send a new one and have a team install it. if they have to do anything extra-its an extra(unknown) cost. (they have to do something extra-replacement oven is 6" taller and would eliminate either a cupboard or a drawer-unnaceptable!)
oven part number they gave me is $1300 wholesale-dealer cost(friend owns appliance store) friend charges $250 for a easy R/R swap. more is extra.
my option/cashback if I want to find one on my own.
wait for it;
$696
nope-not missing any commas or zeros.
not even close.
they told me its their cost-they get them cheap.
am considering my options.
This is soooo true! They do not fix anything! It's either a preexisting problem, or it's not covered under our policy! What the hell do you have a home warranty for anyway? There is always some sort of reason, stipulation, or they want to replace your product with the cheapest thing on the market. Don't even think about getting the same replacement parts, they don't cover it!
I will get together with you and share notes. This company is criminal and needs to be stopped. I want a refund and to be done with this rip off company.
I would like to know - why are some people highly recommendable to a company and other people are so miserable and full of complaints with their choice with the same company... maybe it's the way a person looks at the glass - 1/2 full or 1/2 empty. Don't let stress mess with your spirit - keep cool people. You know the old saying - "He without sin cast the first stone!" - businesses know that service is the #1 provider for continual business. If this company or any other company treat their customers as bad as you say they do - they will have to shut their doors soon - for good! I think understanding that things do happen and the best way to resolve an issue is to work together. Crazy emotional behavior only puts mud on the face of the one who's complainting. Reps who answer the phone are "customer service" reps, they are not the owners - however, they do have the power to help you! My opinion! John Hitchler / Real Estate Agent / Las Vegas NV
You just want to think people are honest..
Buyer beware, do your research and don't get suckered by empty promises!
Fidelity National Home Warranty "Acts In Bad Faith" Go with another Service Provider
I don't know why it has taken me this long to realize that they are crooks. They are by far the rudest people I have ever dealt with. Every time I have had a problem they use an excuse as to why it is "not covered". I have to call to find out why I am not hearing from the technician again and Fidelity tells me my sump pump is not under the perimeter of the house. Like you said, They do not know what they are talking about. This sump pump is permanently built in right next to the house so you can gain access to it or you would not be able to fix it. Explaining this to them gets no results. I then tried to cancel my policy and I was told by Evelyn that I could not cancel my policy. I reported them to BBB and now I am reading all these complaints. I am selling my home and I will NOT allow the realtor to buy the new owners a home warranty with Fidelity. Sounds like I should warn them off of AHS as well. This is ridiculous. They are paid for a service I do not receive ever! I think I am going to be that thorn in Fidelity's side. I am not giving up here. Thanks for all of your submittals.
