Barry chapprel, rick tomaska represent coins that are untrue! Rick tomaska, shows ben franklin half dollars that he claims are proof 67 grade. No franklin half grades higher than proof 65. Rick refuses to show the reverse of said coins that have the liberty bell. The liberty bell must have full bell line to grade proof 65. Some how rick talks to ngc coin grading company to grade these coins higher. This is fraud to any coin collector, barry chapperll uses april, 2011 paper work to show prices, when silver & gold were at the highest price, of approximately $2, 000 per ounce on gold. Today, silver s about $24.00 per ounce, again fraud, trying to get 2011 prices! Thank you for your time and courtesy, william weyman 86 main street womelsdorf, pa 19567
This is incorrect information. Plenty of Franklin halves grade in proof 67 (pf67). I believe you are referring to MINT STATE coins which (depending on the year and location in which they were minted) finding a Franklin graded higher than ms65 is more rare. Also bell lines are not graded on proof coins, only mint state coins, therefore it is not necessary to show close ups of the bell lines on the reverse. Proof coins do not use and FBL or full bell line designation.
If you have any questions or comments, I would love to help!
Sincerely, Kimberly Tomaska
l think in my humble opinion your pop's is the real deal and that is more rare today than a 1964 peace dollar . Goodness and honesty are the most rare commodity on the planet and becoming more rare every second . There's always people that love to take anything good down to their sad miserable existence, Amen ?
I would suggest to folks like Mr. Weyman to do their research before running off at the mouth. Most proof coins from the 1950's and newer will grade 65 or higher unless some [censored] at the mint as dropped them on the floor. Beyond the technical numeric grade then it's all a matter of eye appeal. Many collectors prefer the stunning look of a DCAM and since these coins are much harder to find in the older proofs they clearly have cause to sell for a premium. Mr. Weyman is just of those folks who knows just enough to be dangerous.
I enjoy his show very much. The amount of knowledge Rick has is impressive. The coins he sells are indeed rare and makes me wish I had seen his show prior to me selecting the coins I have. He studies and travels to get the coins that he likes.
What a great show and a great guy.

I agree Rick gives good solid information and with his credibility and credentials he is by far the best out there on the TV. Also the complaint is really not to well thought out I have a 1955 PF 68 Franklin and a 1961 PF 67 Franklin both graded by NGC. You may find both on Instagram at Unique-Rings-Coins. There are alot of sellers on TV that do not have the best intentions but Rick T. Isn't one of them this is just my opinion I hope this helps and good luck in all your endeavors.
Hi Guys,
Let me first say I too enjoy Ricks show . I try to soak up as much as I can. I recently contact Rick via email about a pop. Question and to my surprise he actually wrote back!
I thought that was Super cool ha ha. any I need to get some literature that might lead me in the write so that I am not all over the place. any suggestion would be appreciated .
Ricks seems to be great person. These other guys remind me of snake oil sales man
Thanks
I have a BU roll collection of Lincoln memorial cents. Most of them are stored in the paper bank rolls. Should I take them out and put in plastic tubes. Love the show. Thank you.
This company is a farce. I placed an order, never received an email indicating approval, decline, or shipment sent. I placed a credit/debit card order that, in their own words 'was processed as a credit transaction', WAS NOT declined at the point of sale, it was withdrawn from my account. I ASSumed everything was fine. I waited 4 weeks as they advised they would ship in two to three weeks. I am an AVID and well EXPERIENCED physical gold and silver buyer and have never been told and or had to wait three weeks for shipping from any reputable bulllion dealer such as Kitco, Jmbullion, and APMEX. I called this evening and they advised me that my order was declined. First of all, I saw the funds withdrawn from my account, I never received and NSF, and, furthermore, credit transactions that are declined are declined at the POINT OF SALE - not days later. And a reputable company would have emailed me in some fashion advising of the decline. I was told to call customer service when I called the show back tonight - they are a SCAM.
I have bought from rick numerous times all the way back when he was appearing on barrys show.Always received my coins in a timely manner and always just as stated. He is very knowledgeable on his craft and far far from a scam.If he stole your money you could have him arrested. So did you?.Post the police report, other than that, i think you are the scam.Where is your printed proof?.I don't see any printed proof.
And even my son complained about this 'company' as well. Complete farce. Who in their right mind would sell gold and silver coins for less then they are worth? Think about it. Luckily I just went to APMEX website a week ago and added to my stock.
Tom Joad.
Complete farce? I have been buying from Ricks show for years and have never, ever been scammed in any way.
If you want to buy bouillon go somewhere else and leave the collectable market to people who know what they are talking about.
I get a lot of knowledge and today learned what a "Bugs Bunny" Franklin looks like I like his show. James M.
I disagree with William Weyman's comments. I watch Rick's show regularly and Rick is very knowledgeable! I consider myself a fairly skilled collector and I have not heard anything he has said that I would disagree with. In fact, I have picked up much useful information and am thankful for the education he provides. I read his book on Franklin Halves and learned much information from that as well. One thing I will say is that Rick seems to really like the toning on the Franklins, but I do not. That, however is a personal preference and I do know the grade a lot higher and many collectors do like toning on their coins, depending on the appearance of the toning of course. I also think it was very nice of Rick's daughter to respond to William's complaint and to respond in the constructive, non-defensive manner, which she did. Show's she has a lot of class just like her dad :)
Rick is the ONLY true coin dealer on TV!You can learn solo much from this PNG dealer!ALL other TV shows are just salesmen, selling common coins or "carnival-type silver bullion and coin hawkers"!
I have several Franklins that are PF69 by NGC and I have a lot more I have saved and some are at NGC with more to be sent.
Rick Tomaska is the ONLY true numismatist on TV and is to be trusted, most of the other shows are just salesmen selling whatever they can get gullible people to buy at high prices!Don't those people know about Apmex or JM Bullion or a few others like Modern Coin Mart that have REAL deals on bullion and coins? Also EBAY is a great place to get real prices for coins and bullion from reputable dealers.
He often states the coins he has for sale are great opportunities. Not always. If you access the top auction sites as he does, you can easily beat the price substantially. He thinks you should put some away for your children and grandchildren. thats fine, because you probably won't break even on the Lincoln cents he is selling in your lifetime. Maybe your grandchildren may? It is easy to buy coins at the same prices he is often paying if your patient and watch the market trends on reputable auction sites. More computer and less TV. And those clients who he helped build the finest registry sets. I wonder what kind of prices across the board they paid. I have a number 1 set at NGC and did it without the big rip, it just takes time. Thats the real fun, showing patience and learning the ins and outs
Let's face it. Anyone that purchases coins from a television show/informercial, which is what it really is, is going to pay WAY more than you would pay elsewhere. Someone has to pay for the tv production costs, and you can rest assured it won't be the seller! Also, notice how they only show the highest prices from Ebay, not the lower prices to make you think that you're getting a deal. It's really a joke! I once saw him compare prices for an MS64 Morgan he was selling to an MS64 DMPL price on Ebay...really? The best places to get the best coins at the best prices is a good coin show. I know that not everyone lives close enough to be able to attend one though. I'd start looking at reputable dealers like Stacks if that were the case. Their prices are very fair and Ebay is a good place if you have the patience to wait for the right coin to come along at the right price. Unless money is not important, NEVER buy from ANY tv infomercial, ever!
Very well put
Rick Tomaska is the ONLY one I trust for TV coin shows, he is a member of PNG and that means EVERYTHING to a collector!
The possibility that Rick Tomaska is a hustler out to make a buck, first & foremost, is ludicrous! Whatever other drives may motivate Mr. Tomaska, the lust for ostentatious wealth seems not to be one of them. Rather, his love, knowledge, and expertise for the aesthetics, the movement and the stillness that inhere in the imagination, the mechanics, artistry, and execution of this genuine, albeit "mass-produced, " art form, all seem to be his response to his muse's inspiration. If his medium of artistry was one more readily recognized as elevating the heart and soul of mankind, Rick Tomaska might be an impressario on the stage of American numismatics, thus separating him by a great distance from the numerous hucksters selling "stuff" (to use a turn of phrase favored by Mr. Tomaska) on tv, most of whom can tell a nickel from a quarter, but not much more than that. While Rick (we're really not on a first-name basis) is the star of the show, others on the program seem as comfortable with their roles, and contributions, as the boss. Surely he is supported by other specialists (both in front of the camera as his co-hosts, and no doubt the technicians & specialists behind the scenes), skillful & knowledgeable buyers, set designers, shipping specialists, & no doubt others whose expertise all make the boss look good, and he, they. All seem to compliment one another w/ specialized expertise. Coming from a rookie like me, this is a class act!

While at times his coins seem pricey, as the adage goes, "you pretty much get what you pay for."
rick is the best I havepurchased several coins from the website with no problems love the show have ricks franklin kennedy book hey rick ihave a nicely toned 1963 p half
I agree wholeheartedly with the positive statements posted in this forum and have purchased coins from Rick Tomaska a number of times and have a 100% satisfaction rate. If you are a knowledgeable collector, know what you are purchasing and know what the coins that you are buying sell for on elsewhere, overall you generally cannot purchase complete sets or partial date ranges (all PCGS or NGC graded) for less. At least without investing a great deal of time and effort which many collectors simply don't have. Once you receive the coins you have 30 days to examine them and decide if you wish to keep them. On one single occasion (a situation where we could not specifically pick the dates received) I was not happy with a purchase from RCTV. A single phone call to get an RMA number was all that was required to return them for a full refund within 30 days (less shipping of course) . How can you expect more than that? IMHO Rick Tomaska does the numismatic community a great service buy putting together sets that most dealers can't and would never do, yet folks ridicule him. Just my 2 cents.
Thank you, I am Ricks daughter, Kim, call me any time for information [protected]
I try to order T7827 the 8 set Franklin Half Dollare PF66 last night (8/6/17) for $500 plus. However I was told the set had been sold out.
So as I continued watching the show it was still showing the PF66.
Recommand when a coin or set of coins are no longer available to mention or show "sold out" for the folks watching the show. Then a decision can be made if it is in their budget to get the next higher graded coin or set of coins.
I enjoy the Great Information from Rick Tomaska!
I think rctv and rick tomaska are nothing more than one of the biggest rip-offs on tv. He talks about integrity and honesty and he has neither, he is a bold face liar and anyone that orders coins from him, think about it, it will take you many many years if your lucky to break even when it comes time to sell...dont be a sucker and stay as far away from him as you can!
Go to bay, click advanced, completed sales and see what actual auction prices are for the same coins in slabs. You might be pleasantly surprised how MUCH you could save,
If you buy gold coins from Rick tomaska your over paying from 500 to 1000 a coin. An example is the 1873 double eagle in ms61. You can buy as many as you want for 1544.00 and Rick was asking over 2500.00 and it is not just this one time. It is on almost every gold coin he sells. He tells everyone that they are getting the lowest price but they are being ripped off. I'm not saying you can't get a bargain just not on gold. Don't trust him.
Put up or shut up! Please list prices and examples to show your claim of $500 to $1000 a coin.
I recently saw a graded MS 67 Red set of 1939 Lincoln Cents Rick made on his show. I was concerned on the price being asked, Well over $700.00 for the three Lincoln Cents in NGC or PCGS holders. They were nice coins, although not the deal or rarity that was portrayed on the show. These coins sell for roughly $300.00 RETAIL in the market place. I'm not bashing Rick, its not his fault. TV is probably not the best arena to invest in coins. Researching the Certification numbers of coins I have seen on the show, match coins that were of the same original submissions that retailed for 1/3 of the price Rick is asking. Giving Rick the benefit of the doubt, he may be buying them often times at retail or close to retail prices, then marking them up to a point that covers all the overhead associated with a coin TV show. Numismatics is often a cyclical pricing arena as are precious metals. No-one can really predict them going up and down. Its been my experience, they increase very slowly and gradually. If you think you will see a 200, 300, or 400% increase in value in a short period of time on a coin you bought from a TV show, you probably aren't realistic. The show isn't bad as far as entertainment, but be careful if you are looking to invest unless you need some sort of tax right off for your losses. Don't take my word, call any dealer and ask him what would give you for a 1939 set of P, D and S mint Lincoln cents in a PCGS or NGC slab graded mint state 67 Red.
There are several things going on here. Overall, I think Rick is possibly the only of these TV shows who has any shred of integrity, and as for his knowledge, I have learned a great deal from watching his show.
And thank you to Kimberly for posting a very professional response to an ignorant criticism of the show and of your father.
At the end of the day, Rick is still a dealer and trying to make a profit and to make a living from his knowledge of a subject that he loves dearly. That does not make him evil, greedy or even dishonest. Good GOD when did the word idea of PROFIT become a bad thing? Oh, that's right--in the 1960s when the communist left really made headway on their takeover of our country from within. The man is just trying to make a living just like anyone else, whether they own a neighborhood bakery or run deliveries for the bakery, or grow the wheat used to make the flower or whether they own the oil company that produces the fuel to power the trucks that haul the wheat and the flour and the baked bread to stores. That bakery and every other company every created stays in business by selling goods for greater than their cost. That's called PROFIT, and it USED TO BE a decent and honorable thing in this country.
That said, I have questions about some things Rick does, but if I ever had opportunity to sit down and talk with him or his daughters, I'm sure they could explain it. For instance, I sell on ebay also, and some of the comps Rick shows are some of the most ridiculous Buy It Now prices on ebay. People can ask whatever they WANT, but that doesn't mean ANYONE is ever going to buy at that asking price. I think it's much more reasonable to show a recent SOLD price, but maybe there isn't one for THAT coin in THAT grade.
Someone above said something about Rick's prices being higher. Maybe, but a thing is worth what people are willing to pay for it. With that in mind, I think it's fair to say that Rick could if he were so inclined, charge a lot higher prices for many of the things he sells. And bear in mind that two coins in NGC holders with an identical grade can be two completely different quality coins. NGC/PCGS and ANACS would need to adopt some of Rick's criteria to do that (I say that but I can't remember ever having seen an ANACS holder on Rick's show). If you TRUST Rick to do as he says and sell only the best and highest quality coins, then you have to believe that PF69 on Rick's show with or without his ECC sticker IS a more valuable coin than the PF69 on ebay for less money.
And even if those two coins were identical in value and Rick had a higher price, since when is a man not entitled to charge a premium for his expertise and knowledge? That's one coin out of how many thousands of others?
There is a story about a steam plant of some sort (I'm paraphrasing what I remember of this story), that suddenly started making a horrendous noise and machines shaking so badly one thought they might fly apart. They called in a man who was an expert on the machinery. He looked at a few gages and then went to a particular valve and turned it just ever so slightly, and all the noise and shaking stopped. He turned and said that will be $2500. The stunned owner said "I'm not paying that! $2500 just to turn a valve?" The expert man then said "It's not the turning of the valve. It's the knowing WHICH valve to turn and by how much." The owner paid him.
Thank you Rick for a great show. I'm frankly disgusted with some of the comments here which sort of mirror a change that has happened in our country.
The modern technology available to the coin collector now has basically put the average dealer out of business. The technology is easy to use and the facts don't lie. The price a coin changes hands for is its current value, its not what some dealer says its worth all the time. I often get calls from dealers who claim they have special powers and can locate a coin I am interested in. They want to sell me a coin for 3000.00 or more when I can bid on the same coin in an upcoming auction at one of the sites for much much less. Dealers aren't the only people allowed to bid on Heritage Auctions, Great Collections, Stacks Bowers or others
I realize Mr. Weyman's post is old by this writing, but felt that his remarks may have been prevented by simply visiting NGC's and PCGS's website for reference on said topics.

I truly love the Great Information from Rick Tomaska and his staff. I do buy coins from the show when they have nice Cameo Kennedy's, but ebay is priced much better than the TV show. I once called to find out why they were so much more than ebay and was told the truth. The truth being overhead of the company. But I still buy from Rick & Jack.
I am a coin dealer and have spoken to coin dealers about all coin sellers on television. Some coins are sold reasonably considering overhead, some slightly high, and some very high. That's the problem: Average buyers don't know what offering is fair and what is exorbitant. By selling some coins reasonably, buyers feel that all must be reasonable, and that's where the over pricing occurs.
As coin dealers go, often, I wonder, why do we really need to deal with them at all. Many of them claim to have this special knowledge only they and a few others possess. Not always accurate. Developing a good eye is a matter of looking over enough coins to see the difference, getting an education BEFORE you get involved in a bad investment, and having no real fears after you have the knowledge. Investing in coins takes self-restraint and patience. Don't be afraid to walk away from an overpriced or overgrazed, or misrepresented coin! Now days, If your willing to spend the time, which is the fun of it, you can build an impressive investment quality portfolio or registry set without the often times over rated advice of a dealer. Study, have fun, cut out the middle man you are often times paying too much.
I Have been watching Rick for a long time. Back when he would guest on art and coin tv. Many of his offerings are of superior quality, but few are a great deal at today’s price. Price comparisons on TV is the misleading tactic that I find off putting.
Hello coin world family,
Let me say first and foremost as Rick daughter that I truly appreciate all of your feedback. There are compliments which my family appreciate, and concerns which I would like to address. Trust me and believe, my Father has been passionate about numismatics from before the time I was born. Most of you do not know this, but meeting my mother and his love for her and her children was his inspiration to dive into his passion for numismatics. Despite what anyone thinks, my father is not a greedy man. My father is passionate about numismatics and his family. He would not sell coins on tv unless he truly believed in their value. If you want bullion, buy bullion. If you love coins and want collectible pieces of high quality, my Father is the best. If ever your standard to what we give you falls beneath your standard, please feel free to return. Buy the coin, not the holder. Just take this in mind, and I speak this as a person who truly knows my Father, my Father has been worked harder than any man I know- he truly has a passion for what he does and loves numismatics. I wish that you would stop thinking that he is some sort of sales con-artist. He is a family man that is absolutely the most knowledgeable in his field.
Sincerely,
Kim Tomaska
sorry Kim but Your father is not only greedy but extremely greedy. do You have an explanation as to why Rick sells coins WAY above what they are worth? it doesnt take much time to prove me right. look at a coin that he is trying to sell and then go online and You will quickly find the EXACT same coin and the EXACT same grade for considerably less money. dont ignore without proof.
My father is not at all greedy. I can say this because I know him. Of course he wants to make a living off of his work like every human on this planet. This one thing I can tell you, he has dedicated more time and energy towards his passion of numismatics and educating people more than any person I have seen. He has dedicated his whole life to this and made many sacrifices, more than you know. While most people are taking vacations and weekends off- guess what my dad is doing - working. This is not in the sense of working to Make money. It is working so that he can educate everyone into understanding the value behind the coins they’re being sold on television. If he didn’t believe in it he wouldn’t do it. You Ever want to talk here is my phone number [protected]. But please never call my dad greedy. You have no idea what he is done for my mom and her children and her son that died from epilepsy and everything that he sacrificed to do everything for a family and he never cares about his own wealth. My mom just died March 4 of this year and all he cares about is the fact that he lost her he doesn’t care a damn about money so do not ever call my father greedy. Everything he’s done has always been to help support my mom her previous children and to support us that is all. He is a real man.
Kim ... Your dad is a rip off. He's got a new blonde on his arm and that's what I believe is causing him to go berserk with prices. He is using his pseudo celebrity to profit unfairly. He is no more than a carnival Barker. All the good work he's done is still there but he has shamed himself. The guy is a putz, there's no getting around it, facts speak for themselves. I will go toe to toe with him on any of these great "DEALS" he gives people. How do you think I found this page? I googled Rick tomaska the ripoff. By the way his new name is RIP TOMASKA. Sincerely JB
Rick us such a rip off it is sickening. i compare his prices to online prices of the EXACT same coin. SAME grade and they are always way less in price than Ricks insane prices. my first thoughts are always, "i feel bad for anyone naïve enough to purchase a coin from Rick.
Not true,
Mani Franklin halves grade above proof 65. Do you want information contact me. Thank you, I am Ricks daughter, Kim, call me any time for information [protected]
rick tomaska is such a joke and a liar! i feel so bad for any ignorant fool that buys coins from this theif!
Rick Tomaska is worse than used car sales person! his prices are insanely high. there must be some major fools out there that buy his coins. i laugh so hard when i watch the build up. he talks for many minutes about a coin and then says he is passing on his good fortune on to you and other catchy lines and then bam... he hits you with a price only a comedy writer could come up with.
Rick tomaska is a rip off. He is selling rolls of BU Kennedy halves 1964 for $419 and says he's got the best deal in town. Well you can go to APMEX and get the same exact thing for $259. The exact same thing. Rip Tomaska is profiting at least $160. I have no problem people using their notoriety to make a problem but $160 is a rip off. Shame on him to call himself a new mismatist it is boo to RIP TOMASKA
you are so right but i dont think you watch his show more often and i dont blame you. rick has such ridiculous mark ups, its almost a crime how much he raises the prices by AND the kicker is, he has the nerve to say he is giving us the best prices possible. that dude is sick and i feel bad for any fool that buys his coins.
you are so right. rick is such a liar! sometimes i just laugh at the utter ridiculousness of his outrageous prices and him looking into the camera and saying that he is passing on his good fortune on to us and giving us the best prices. what a joke! sometimes, when i am not laughing at this rip off artist, i get upset because there must be serious [censored]s out there who buy from this thief. i feel bad for those idiots out there.
I agree with you Rick and I can go on and on about this tomaska guy.. he is a black mark on the hobby. I watch the show occasionally on gold coins he's off his rocker. All three of those clowns on the show should be tarred and feathered. It's just sickening to me.
I laugh when i watch the show. His prices are so ridiculously high! All you need to do is watch the show and have your phone in your hand or your laptop, find what he is selling and look on line. You will see that 19 out of 20 products of his, he is charging double and sometimes triple what you can buy on line. And the other thing that cracks me up is hearing the phones ringing in the background. LOL! like so hundreds of people are calling for all six hours dying to get ripped off. It is ALL fake! Rick is a liar and a rip off artist!
Yes! I shake my head and laugh when I hear those phones ringing, Nice sales tactic but if you listen closely, you will see that it is a few different ringtones, ringing the exact same amount of times each time. It's hilarious!
I have been a collector for 60 years. If you think you can make a profit buying those products sold on TV, you are sadly mistaken. The spread between buying and selling for the average collector and the average product is about 40%. You pay $1000 for one of those products, and you want to sell it back, maybe you will get $500-$600. That doesn't even to take into account whether Rick or others are overcharging. The "market value" has to double before you will even get your money back. Sure, put them away for 100 years and maybe your grandkids will get something back, but you are better off just buying the bullion and not the "collectible" product
I'm glad I bought my 2021 MS70 Morgan and Peace silver dollars from Rick when they came out he's about the best one on TV you ougto watch that Mike M. on CSN if you want a laugh
