Built new house, moved into in November, 2004. General Aluminum windows described above for 3 winters have had extreme sweating and ice to the extent of sill damage. Factory representative, Larry Tubbs visit last month (Feb., 2007) to observe and discuss issue. Will not stand behind the window to repair or replace.

Be careful. I have a new home with General aluminum windows and they are having a serious problem with condensation and the warranty complaint manager just told me today that over time, it should stop. My question is what in my home may change to cause the condition to stop and how long will it take; until the damage is done inside of the home. I am also reading other complaints about the same thing. I also live in Mobile, AL

First of all windows do not sweat on there own... The sweat comes from too much humidity in the home or a sudden drop in temperature.
We replaced our windows from vinyl to General Aluminum 2700 thermal break frame. Best windows ever they do not sweat and the sound transmission is great.. Love my GA windows.

Living in a newly built house for two months and mildew is forming on the window sill because of the condensation forming on the window frame of General Aluminum Windows, contractor informed me it will not happen after they are a year old! Now the contractor is sending out his painter to most probably paint the sill with a mildew resistant paint.I live in Covington, La., north of Lake Ponchatrain.
