Gould 1st Construction review: Home improvement

My family paid Josh Gould of Gould 1st Maintenance LLC a substantial amount of money to redo the flooring in the house of another family member (my cousin). He began the job in September of 2017 by ripping up all of the previous flooring. Up until early December 2017, he had performed no further work on the house. Josh claimed to my cousin that he had sustained an injury, yet he was seen loading his work vehicle with work equipment on several occasions around the time that he had made this claim to my cousin. Josh claimed to my cousin that he would subcontract out this work, but no progress was made up to this point of time

Up until this point, the lack of flooring had caused a massive amount of dust/particulates to accumulate in the house on a daily basis. It constantly got on work clothes, forced my cousin to put boots on her pets, and also prevented more sensitive family members from visiting the house. One of my cousin's pets had to receive emergency medical respiratory treatment, which I would be hard-pressed to believe is unrelated to the accumulation of particulates due to a lack of a proper floor. In general I am concerned about the respiratory health of every being in that house.

I recently emailed Mr. Gould to come up with a plan to finish the job in a week or two. His response was to go over to her house and try to have her sign a waiver for "refusing to have work completed." When she asked for the money to just be refunded to me, he said he couldn't because the check was from my mom (which is incorrect due to the fact that my mom emailed him asking for the money to be refunded and due to the fact that my name is on the account from which the check was written) and because the money was a deposit (which is wrong because there is nowhere in any written communication that the money was for a deposit, not even implied).

Overall, I am incredibly unhappy with the "service" provided by this individual and this company. I find his level of professionalism to be deplorable and am severely unnerved by the business tactics which he has utilized while "on" this job. I would, without a doubt, never do business with this individual or this company again.SENIOR CITIZENS BEWARE !
