Mixed Experiences with Green Chef Corporation
As someone who deeply values the convenience of meal delivery services, my experience with Green Chef Corporation has been quite mixed. While some meals were flavorful and easy to prepare, there were instances where the quality of ingredients fell short of expectations. The variety of menu options was appreciated, but issues like delayed deliveries and occasional spoiled produce left me feeling uncertain. Despite these drawbacks, the service did offer some delicious recipes that added a spark to my dining routine. If you value organic ingredients and are willing to navigate occasional hiccups, Green Chef Corporation might still be worth a try.
Healthier than the others
What I never liked about these new meal a day delivery services was the over use of rice and noodles in their dishes. Anyone can make pasta and have it be cheap. Green Chef has mostly vegetables and healthy meats making it a superior choice.
Feeling good
I feel good knowing that I'm serving my family fresh, organic ingredients. I live in an area where I really have to go out of my way to get the quality of foods I want to cook for my family, and this service has made my life so much easier. Not one complaint yet from my kids that they don't like the recipes, either! Score!
Best meal kit so far
I've tried seven meal kit delivery services so far. Green Chef is the best one. Better taste, ingredient quality, and portion size than any of the others. Only drawback: too much packaging (though this is a problem with all meal deliveries). Maybe Green Chef could team up with Whole Foods and offer meal kit PICK UP at the local store?
Green Chef is the bomb dot com
If you want organic and healthy this is for you. If you want cheap food laced with pesticides and preservatives and processed ingredients then McDonald's is the place for you.
It's Healthy restaurant quality meals for about half the price. There are some recipes that I had thought they were just OK but most of them are really delicious. Get what you pay for. It's a little bit more expensive to eat Paleo, but eating healthy is never cheap.
P.S. To the person that complained about pricing, why did you sign up in the first place if you didn't like the price!?
Exceptional!
I've ordered meals for a month now and am completely hooked! The produce is much better than what I can find at my grocery and appreciate the produce is organic which other similar services don't offer. I'm willing to pay extra for this and knowing I'm not putting pesticides in my body. Recipes have all been great and I've tried many new items. I find the service to be cost effective because I'm getting the portions necessary to make the recipe only so no waste. Several recipes I've made I've had more than enough food for one or two more meals. The farmers they are sourcing from really provide outstanding quality. You find out what foods really should taste like!
Delicious and for vegetarians too!
So many meal ingredient companies out there now. Before signing up for one, make sure you look at the meals for that shipping week and for the weeks ahead. Also check when you future meal kit (that you pay full price for) will ship. If just doing this to get the low intro initial shipment, make sure to skip the next mean delivery right after you sign up. Don't cancel--just skip that weeks delivery. If you don't, by the time you receive your first food box, the next one will be scheduled to ship. This is what they count on I believe.
If you end up liking the service, you can get that box to ship or see if you like the following shipment even better and continue like that. Always review the upcoming menu.
I loved the vegetarian meals I got and I got 3 meals for 2 for only $9.95 for my intro. If you get the right promo code, this is a super bargain! No other meal companies have that low of an initial cost. Everything was delicious and fresh! I would love to continue if I could afford it. But they do give you recipes so you can easily make them by buying ingredients at the local grocery with the exception of the Haloumi cheese which I can't find locally but was unique and sooo good.
So just read all the small print with any of these meal companies and you should enjoy some great fresh food and a feeling of accomplishment when you prepare them successfully! Kinda like a cooking lesson is included!
First week with them
First week with them. Food is delicious! Came on time. Easy to cook. Healthy. Really like it so far
Avoid this company at all cost.they entice scam you to buy into a promotion at the beginning, followed by an incredibly high volume of passing on free boxes to friends advertisements and promotions, then they set you up with no email or notification about your weekly charge. they select your meal at their own accord and they start charging you. when you call customer service, they are vague, they dont answer your question directly, and they hang up on you . *** ordered through them twice, I got refunded for the first one based on the same issue and was told that their IT will look into the problem as to why emails are not coming through to let me know that a selection is needed in order to be charged and finalized !i skipped two weeks as a whole thing was questionable to me. I went to deactivate my account due to my negative experience especially given how they are operating ethically as a company, And I am now being charged for a final delivery that I never placed and I never got an email about!they respond to you by saying you have a weekly subscription so you have seven days to cancel but they do not answer why there are no notifications or emails or meal selection options available to you as they charge you the hefty amount for what you get. There is no accountability or ownership. and they are vague about the information they give you so you do not even know who you are dealing with, that is the scary part.so they are charging your credit card behind the scene and you are not supported by a proper set up or structure. Having had these experiences, their company validity, leadership and structure is highly questionable. Additionally, the portions are also not true to what you pay for; there was another review here that thoroughly spoke about that and I completely agree. We are disgusted at their setup, lack of ethics, and lack of integrity especially given they are operating under the premise and purpose of providing organic and healthy food.
Do not order from this company! I signed up on October 22 and realized right away that I couldn't afford it. So I canceled my account immediately. My account showed that it was deactivated. On October 28, my bank account was debited for the canceled charges which I noticed when I got home from work at 7pm. I looked at the company's policy for this issue which said I needed to call their customer support so they could assist me. However, the office was closed so I called back first thing this morning, October 29. I was told that I needed to call to cancel my order at least 7 days before the scheduled delivery on November 4. I explained that I had tried to call but the office was closed. I explained that I am a senior citizen who mistakenly signed up and had canceled immediately. I asked for a refund. I was told that they are not allowed to give refunds. I did everything I needed to do to cancel my account and stop the delivery I don't want and can't afford. I'm extremely disappointed in the company's customer service.
Green Chef Review: Not Worth the Hassle - Save Yourself the Trouble
I've tried a lot of meal plans and I'm usually pretty happy with them, but sometimes I just want to try something new. I stumbled upon Green Chef's website a while back, but I didn't end up ordering because the prices were a bit steep and the website was acting up. However, I recently found a link that offered a discount for the first few weeks, so I decided to give it another shot.
Unfortunately, the website was still having some issues when I tried to select my menu for the next three weeks. I was getting pretty frustrated with it, so I decided to cancel my subscription within 10 minutes of logging on. I thought that was the end of it, but then I noticed a charge on my credit card for the first week. I tried to log in again, but I kept getting an error message saying that there was a problem with the site. I even tried resetting my password, but I got the same message.
I decided to call customer service, but the person who answered had a really strong accent that was hard to understand. He sounded like he didn't really want to be helping me, which was pretty annoying. He told me that even if you cancel before the cut off date, the next subscription box still goes out. What kind of nonsense is that? Anyway, he canceled my order and said that I would be getting a refund.
Overall, I would say that Green Chef is not worth the hassle. There are plenty of other meal plans out there that are just as good, if not better, and don't try to scam you by shipping an order after you've already canceled. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere.
Unreliable Deliveries: My Experience with Green Chef Food Delivery Service
Green Chef is a food delivery service that brings you the ingredients and recipes for meals. As a working mom, I use this service to cook healthy food for my family. I've been using Green Chef for quite a while now because the food is amazing. However, I am ready to find another company because the deliveries are unreliable. Unfortunately, I have not received the last two boxes and the third week coming up, I have heard conflicting reports on whether I will receive it. I, of course, have called customer service several times. The customer service employees are polite and friendly, they apologize and tell me they understand how frustrating this must be. That's the first thing they say every time. That's nice, but it doesn't help me. They do not know why the mistake occurred, they do not know if it will happen again, they cannot send a new box, they do not compensate for the error. They are at a remote call center and cannot communicate with the company to investigate anything or do anything about what happened. Each time they say they will "report it to the team". When you are relying on this food for the week, this is not good enough. It causes quite a problem for people. One time I understand, but two or more this is a problem. Deliveries are unreliable and that is unacceptable.
I have to say that I am disappointed because I really enjoy the food that Green Chef provides. The recipes are easy to follow and the ingredients are fresh. However, the unreliable deliveries have caused me to look for another company. I hope that Green Chef can improve their delivery service because I would love to continue using their service. I have proof of purchase with order numbers *** and ***. The first one says Pending in the attached picture, but it never arrived. The second order number says cancelled, but no one contacted me to notify me it had been cancelled and I did not cancel it. These mistakes are unacceptable and I hope that Green Chef can fix them.
Green Chef Review: Tasty Recipes, Poor Quality Control, and Terrible Customer Service
I gotta say, Green Chef ain't the best service out there. Every time I get my order, there's always some withered veggies and the dates ain't always the freshest. But I gotta admit, the idea of it all is pretty good and some of the recipes look pretty tasty. But let me tell you, their customer service ain't up to par. I had one order that I wasn't happy with, so I asked to cancel my subscription. They said it was done, but then I got another order the next day! And get this, they left it outside my front door even though I was home. By the time I found it, some of the ice had melted and the veggies were all withered again. And now, they're still sending me orders even though I thought I cancelled my subscription. They don't even send reminders to choose my food, so I didn't even know they hadn't cancelled my subscription. And now they're taking more money from me even though I cancelled weeks ago! I ain't a happy customer at all. They need to step up their game and take care of their customers better.
Disappointing Experience with Green Chef: False Advertising and Poor Customer Service
I gotta say, I had a pretty bad experience with Green Chef. I was really excited to try them out because I have a gluten allergy and it's been tough finding a meal subscription service that caters to that. But man, was I disappointed. First off, you can't even select your meals until after your card has been charged. What kind of nonsense is that? And then, when I tried to select my meals, I kept getting an error message saying my selections couldn't be saved. So I went to my account settings to see what was up, and it turns out my meal plan was set to paleo instead of gluten-free. But get this - there wasn't even an option to change it to gluten-free! What kind of company advertises a gluten-free plan but doesn't even offer it as an option in your account settings?
So I reached out to customer service, and they told me that they had picked my meals for me and that the keto and paleo plans "happen to be" gluten-free. Like, what? That's not what I signed up for. I'm trying to take care of my body and heal from all the damage that diet culture has done, and I felt like this company was lying to me about the meals they offer and trying to make me feel bad about myself. I asked to cancel my subscription and the box that was already on its way, but they told me I couldn't because I had already been charged.
So I figured, okay, at least I'll have three meals to eat this weekend. But when the box arrived, it had the wrong meals in it - and one of them wasn't even gluten-free! I mean, come on. This company is a total joke. Don't waste your money on them.
Green Chef Review: Mostly Organic and Tasty Vegan Meals, but Limited Customization and Customer Support
Me and my husband have been trying out different meal kit boxes to make our lives easier. He's a fancy chef and I'm not, so I'm usually the one cooking dinner 3-4 nights a week. We searched on Google for "Organic Meal box delivery" and found a few options, including HungryRoot and Green Chef. But not all the ingredients were organic or wild crafted, so we cancelled HungryRoot. We don't want to waste food just because it's not organic, you know?
Anyway, Green Chef is way better than HungryRoot in terms of flavor and produce. The plant-based and vegan options are mostly organic, which is great. I just wish there was a way to order different meals for different people in the same household. Like, my husband wants meat but I want vegan.
We tried the steak and shrimp meal recently and my husband said it was tasty, but the meat wasn't grass-fed or organic like he usually buys. It was still expensive though. We also got the ricotta pancakes for a fancy brunch and they were disappointing. Every ingredient was conventional and non-organic, which is not what we usually buy. We ended up throwing it away, which was a waste of money.
But we really like the vegan meals from Green Chef. They're mostly organic and tasty. The only problem is that there's no easy way to review or ask questions about your meal on the site. If something is wrong with the ingredients, there's no way to get credit or talk to someone about it. So I'm leaving my review here to speak my mind.
Green Chef Review: Organic Meal Kits with Limited Options and Mixed Results
I tried Green Chef back in 2017 and the food was pretty good, but they didn't let you pick your own meals. They just picked for you based on what you would eat, like fish or chicken. Plus, it was more expensive than other services, so I cancelled. But recently, they sent me an email saying they changed their policy and now you can pick your own meals. They even offered me a discount to come back, so I decided to give it another try.
The first box I got sat in a UPS warehouse for five whole days, which was a bummer. But Green Chef was nice enough to send me a free replacement box. The second box was missing the shrimp meal I ordered, so they gave me a discount for a third box. I appreciated their customer service, but the food this time around wasn't as good as I remembered. And it's still more expensive than other meal kit services.
They still give you pre-made sauces and some pre-chopped veggies, which is nice because it cuts down on cooking time. But it also means that the ingredients won't last as long in the fridge. On the plus side, everything is organic. They now have a bunch of different menus to choose from, like gluten-free, keto, pescatarian, heart smart, vegetarian, and omnivore. Each menu has four to six choices, but a lot of the options are repeated on different menus.
The meals sound good on paper, but they don't taste that great. Especially for the high price. I ordered meals with chicken tenders twice, and both times the chicken was disgusting. It didn't even look like a "tender." There were gristle tabs on all the pieces, and when you take it out of the package it's so pulverized it sticks to your hands like a paste. When you cook it, it seems more like chicken crumbles. Not appetizing at all.
Green Chef did answer my emails about the bad boxes, but I had to contact them twice about the first box. So, all in all, I wouldn't recommend Green Chef unless you're really into low-calorie meals with "healthy" ingredients and don't care if it tastes good. But if you can get a good discount on a box, it's worth a try.
Disappointing Experience with Green Chef: Forced Orders and Non-Vegetarian Products
I gotta say, I was really disappointed with my experience with Green Chef. I was just trying to check out their recipes and see if I liked what they had to offer, but I couldn't even view them without putting in my payment details. I was a little suspicious, but I figured I could just back out before actually placing an order.
But nope, turns out that just by putting in my payment info, I had already made my first order. I had to go through the trouble of Googling how to cancel my subscription, and even then I still got an email saying my delivery was on its way. And to top it all off, I'm pretty sure it's going to include non-vegetarian products that I can't even eat.
I'm just really frustrated with this whole experience. It feels like they're just trying to force a sale on me, and I don't appreciate that at all. And when I looked up other reviews online, I saw that I'm not the only one who's had a bad experience with them. Seriously, do not buy from Green Chef. They need to seriously reevaluate their business model if they want to succeed.
Green Chef Review: Limited Meal Choices and High Prices
So, I gotta tell ya, I've been using HelloFresh for a while now and it's been great! They really go out of their way to make sure everything is perfect, even if it's not their fault. I've also tried Sunbasket, Blue Apron, and Plated, and they were all pretty tasty too.
But, I was thinking about trying out another service to mix things up a bit. When I saw that Green Chef was offering a week's worth of meals for just the cost of shipping, I thought, "Why not?" Well, let me tell you, there were a few things that rubbed me the wrong way.
First off, there's no app. I mean, come on, all the other services have apps that make things super easy. But, I figured I could deal with that. Then, I noticed that the price was quite a bit higher than the other services. But, I saw a polenta dish on the menu for the week that looked delicious, so I was willing to pay the extra cash.
Here's where things got a little weird. When you sign up, you don't get to choose your meals. They're separated into categories like carnivore, omnivore, and vegetarian, and they pick the meals for you. I thought I could get around this by choosing the omnivore option, but I was wrong. I wasn't allowed to have the polenta dish because it was a vegetarian option. The only choices you get to make are if you don't eat certain meats. If you're a vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free, you don't get any choices at all.
I tried to work around the system by saying I didn't like the meats offered that week, but all it did was give me a pre-chosen vegetarian option. I called customer service to see if there was anything they could do, but they basically told me tough luck. I couldn't have the chicken dish and the polenta dish, even if I paid the higher price. I mean, what's the deal with that? They offer the two dishes I want, but I can't have them both? It's just not right.
Long story short, I'm glad I read the reviews and skipped the first paid week. You get charged for the next week's box the day the first one arrives, so I didn't want to take any chances. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend Green Chef to anyone. There are much better options out there.
GreenChef Review: Delicious, Organic Meals Delivered to Your Doorstep
I just had to write this review because I saw some 1-star reviews that just didn't seem fair. So, I'm sorry if this is a long review, but I want to give you the full picture if you're thinking about trying GreenChef.
A little background on me: I grew up cooking with my mom and grandma, and I've been cooking for 7 people for a long time. So, I'm no newbie in the kitchen. I love to cook, experiment with new food, and make up my own recipes. I decided to try GreenChef when a friend recommended it to me because I work full time, and some days I'm just too lazy to go to the store and figure out what's for dinner.
So, what do I think of GreenChef? This company is great! Every week, there are 9 different recipes to choose from, depending on your meal plan: Vegetarian, Omnivore, Carnivore, Gluten Free, Paleo (price point varies depending on the plan, and the website is very clear on pricing). Also, within those categories, you can opt-out of certain foods if you don't like them. For example, my husband can't eat any pork products because they give him migraines. So, I unchecked the "Pork" box, and it takes away any recipes for that week that have pork. The meals are between 450-780 calories per meal and take between 20-40 minutes to cook. Each week, you get 6 meals (3 meals for 2 people - they also have bigger packages for larger families). It's easy to skip deliveries if you're out of town or have more time on your hands that week, etc. Everything gets delivered to my front door, well-packaged and insulated, and it keeps the food cold until I get home.
We get the Omnivore Plan. Each week, we get 2 recipes with meat and 1 vegetarian (No Meat Mondays anyone?). It's plenty of food - one reviewer said "this is for light eaters" - I don't think so. The meals are correctly proportioned. Sometimes (not all the time), but sometimes, I even have leftovers for my lunch the next day (my friend also says the same thing - she is on the Paleo Meal Plan). My hubby is a big guy - and can be a picky eater. He is always satisfied and loves the meals.
Another reviewer said "we got Chorizo Seitan - not meat!" That is correct; it was a vegetarian dish, even has a green leaf symbol next to the name - so yea no meat! If you don't want vegetarian dishes - switch your meal plan to carnivore, paleo, or gluten-free so all 3 meals come with meat. It's that easy.
The instructions are step by step with full-color pictures. They are well-written and easy to follow. I would recommend them for beginners on up to experienced cooks. Also, all ingredients are packaged and color-coated with each recipe card.
The recipes are delicious! I think you will always get one every now and then that maybe was not your favorite. (But I cook things on my own or order something at a restaurant that is not all that great too - so...).
Customer service is also great. One week, one ingredient did not get put in my box, SAD DAY! I e-mailed customer service, and they got back to me the same day, apologized for the missing ingredient, said they would let the shipping department quality control be notified, and they credited my account for the missing ingredient.
It's Organic! - which maybe is why it costs a little more than other sites. And Green Chef Is Certified by CCOF. Also, pretty much everything can be composted or recycled.
Lastly, you can cancel at any time. I have not tried to cancel as I don't want to, but you can if you want. I love them! I will be a Green Chef for a very long time.

Green Chef Review: Huge Ripoff and Nonexistent Customer Service
I wrote this review back in October 2015, but I just found site jabber and thought it might be helpful here too. I usually only say something nice or say nothing at all, but Green Chef is a huge ripoff and their customer service is nonexistent. I only review if something is really good or truly awful and my input might help others.
I got a Living Social voucher with them for 2 times three meals. I found that new customers could get four meals free on their first order. So, I placed an order as a new customer. I then placed another order using my Living Social voucher.
I've been extremely busy lately with losing a job in June, scrambling to find another one asap, and starting another just a couple of weeks ago. I'm working 12-14 hour days, plus working steadily at home on weekends, so I have no time to prepare meals right now. I arrived home last Friday to find a big warm box at my door from Green Chef. O. K. My bad for not realizing I'd placed the order to arrive that day.
I immediately panicked about where I was going to put all the food given the size of the box. I then went online to cancel/postpone my second shipment due in another 7 days, but I was unable to do so. I called Green Chef and left a message. They never returned my call. IM was down, so I e-mailed them right away and requested a delay, giving my reasons for doing so. They did not respond to my e-mail for two days, and then informed me that it was too late to cancel. The order did not leave their facility for another three days following their message to me. What's worse, instead of billing me for two meals on the first order and honoring my Living Social Voucher on the second order, they used my Living Social voucher on the first order and billed me $78 for the second shipment.
1. Requests to hold an order: There are other online food delivery companies that allow people to cancel as late as 5 pm on a Friday for shipments that are scheduled to be delivered the following Monday morning. Why does Green Chef, a company that does no food preparation at all, need more than 7 days advance notice to cancel/hold on a shipment? Oh, and the other companies respond to calls on weekends as well.
2. Freshness Claim: Their claim that their food is all fresh is nonsense. I received one seafood item that was frozen, and the other two dishes were vegetarian. An orange in one of those orders was going bad when it arrived.
3. Package and Order Size: The panic I had about where to place all the food was unnecessary. In the huge box that arrived, at least two thirds to three quarters of the contents were foam and ice packs. The amount of food that arrived easily fit into one Fresh and Easy plastic grocery bag with room to spare.
4. Price: Two of the three dishes I received the first week were Vegetarian. They consisted of a sweet potato, 3 carrots, some cauliflower, some pasta and/or grain,... Not much. Now this week's order - the one they refused to allow me to postpone/cancel - consists again of two vegetarian dishes and a seafood dish. I'm sorry, did they say $26 for mac and cheese that I have to prepare myself?... Even at the more than half-off price of $35 with the Living Social Voucher, this program is a Huge Rip Off!
5. Customer Service: The young rip-off artists at Green Chef may think they're slick, but they have no concept of customer service or fair pricing. Knowing that I am a new customer and I admittedly made a mistake, they could have done something to try to help me out this one time. After all, my request was in on the Friday prior to the next Friday's delivery. It's not like I waited until just a day or two in advance.
Sadly, all Green Chef had to do was pick up the phone and speak with a customer who had attempted to contact them by three separate means. Try to help the customer out just a bit, and more often than not customers will return again and again... And even if Green Chef still refused to bend their rigid rules, they would at least not have gotten this review... That's O. K. I don't need Green Chef. There are other companies that are building loyalty with me...
Let's face it, all Green Chef did was put a few things in our grocery bag/box, and provide us with a recipe (one that according to others lacks measurements and is hard to follow). We, the customers still have to do all the cooking. If they want to gouge customers with $80 grocery bags filled mostly with pasta and a couple of veggies, they will not last long with any vaguely intelligent customer.
P.S.: I didn't inventory my order either. I could easily have been shorted ingredients as well, given what others have written about this company online.
Green Chef Complaints 13
I joined Green Chef a couple of months ago in part because of a Green Chef article that was published where you state
I joined Green Chef a couple of months ago in part because of a Green Chef article that was published where you state that your Keto Plan has an average calorie count between 400-600 calories. This month I noticed a huge spike in calorie count on the recipe cards. March 23 meals range from 370-750 calories with 1 in the 300s, 5 in the 400s and 1 in the 700's. For March 30th the range is 620-1050 with 3 in the 600s, 3 in the 700s & 1 in the 1000s. When I asked I was told that the recipe cards list "as packaged" calorie count versus "as prepared". Cooking oil, butter etc. that the consumer adds per the recipe is not counted on the calorie count listed on the recipe cards. After looking at several recipes I found that they average 3-4 tablespoons of cooking oil increasing the calorie count by 360-480 calories. I follow myfitnesspal and am trying to maintain a 1,500 calorie per day count. Finding out yesterday that the Green Chef meals were actually 300-400 calories greater than what is stated on their recipe cards has been disturbing. I switched from Blue Apron and now when I went back and reviewed the Blue Apron recipes I see that they list both "as packaged" and 'as prepared", but the difference is not that great. What I noticed is that the Blue Apron recipes use less than a tablespoon of cooking oil in their recipes versus 3-4 for Green Chef's. I consider Green Chef's claims of the low calorie count for the Keto meals is false advertising. I switched to the Green Chef plan specifically because of the low calorie count advertised and now feel duped. I've been very specific in emails that I sent to Green Chef and in calls and while I can say that your employees have been kind and courteous the written responses I have received seemed scripted...two different people gave me almost a verbatim response. This response however was not helpful at all "Exciting news we are making changes to the menu and meals. The hikes in calories and other nutritional information like certain ingredients and portion sizes. Apparently, they are now taking every ingredient into account once the meal is fully prepared." It is mind boggling that you would put a calorie count on a recipe card that did not take into account all of the additional calories that the prepared recipe would have.
I received an email from Paypal on 3/25/2023 at 3:22 am that I sent payment of $121.60 to Green Chef Corporation. This is first time I was aware I was subscribed in the program. I immediately cancelled the billing agreement with this company through my PayPal account. (See emails) PayPal gave me option to contact Green Chef. No one was available on phone contact option, so I sent email to Green Chef at 3:42 am on 3/25 requesting the company refund my money and not to send their product. To my knowledge I had not subscribed to their food service; I was trying to look at their menu options to see if it was anything I would be interested in. I had previously received meals from them and they used previous billing info to process this current order. I logged into Green Chef site on 3/25 to cancel a subscription I was not aware I was receiving, but was unable to cancel order. On 3/25 at 3:46 am I received email from Green Chef claiming they do not have the option to cancel this delivery as it is past 5 days before delivery(3/24) I didnt even receive notice I was charged for a product from Green Chef until 3/25. (See email). I called Green Chef on 3/25 at 8:22am requesting cancellation and refund of this order as I did not want to sign up for service. GC rep reiterated it was too late to cancel order and get refund.
on 3/25/2023 I went onto Green Chef site to check it out. It demanded info in order to move forward and see the meal options. Once i get to the food i see it does not suit my needs and immediately cancel it all to ensure i dont get unwanted food or charges. Then boom my card is charged and I am told even though its been 6 minutes i cannot cancel and will be getting multiple boxes of food I never choose or wanted in the first place. *** was rude and refused to help stating the computer doesn't allow them to refund people. So how does a computer run a business and the humans have no control? I think not.. This is a huge misleading scam and I am telling everyone I know to stay far away. I have continued to ask for a refund and they refuse. I told them anything they send me will be returned and I do not want it. All they care about is getting my money which they are stealing from me at this point. Thanks
ON March 25, 2023, I visited the Greenchef.com website at my daughter's request. I intended to review their meal plans and, if appealing, I would sign up. However, the site required me to input my payment details before I could see the meal options. I was hesitant to provide my credit card information without knowing if I'd be interested in their offerings. Despite this, the only way to access the meal plans was to provide a payment method, and there was no clear indication that a charge would be immediately processed. So, I entered my details, reviewed the options, and upon deciding that the service wasn't right for me, I canceled and deactivated the account straight away. Nonetheless, I discovered that $41.57 had been deducted from my account on March 28, 2023. The issue is that asking for payment information before allowing customers to review meal options feels deceptive. It seems like a tactic to scam customers into providing their payment details before they can make an informed decision about the service. I contacted Greenchef's customer service and spoke with a representative who put me on hold for an extended period, only for the call to eventually disconnect, prompting me to file this complaint. I never finalized any order, yet it appears the company is wrongfully taking money before customers can even see what they're buying. Ideally, customers should be able to view meal plans first, then decide whether to proceed with payment. The current practice seems fraudulent. I did not place an order and I want a refund. Your help with this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I have selected "yes" to my complaint involving a health issue but, depending on the definition of "health", it may not be appropriate. I have been a member of Green Chef for quite sometime (my account as recently closed so I can't pull the exact amount of time). I have always had a delivery on Tuesday, every other week, unless I modified by skipping a week. My previous two deliveries, November 17th and December 1st did not arrive as expected, even though I had already paid in full for these shipments to arrive. On the Green Chef website, under the FAQ, it states the following: "Your box will arrive between 8 am and 9 pm local time on your scheduled delivery day.". For the 11/17 delivery, it did end up arriving on the 19th, completely thawed out. For the 12/1 delivery it is still missing. I contacted Green Chef on 11/19 (I believe - maybe the 20th) about the missing shipment from the 17th since no credit had been applied. Immediately the customer service rep refunded me in full and never mentioned any reason for why that could not happen. I assumed this was a one-time isolated incident. I contacted Green Chef today, 12/2, regarding my missing delivery that should have arrived yesterday. I was told that per policy, I would not be refunded in full because it had not been 48 hours that my food had been missing for. She said since it is only a day and a half I would only receive $11.99 off. Now, as mentioned above, Green Chef states, "Your box will arrive between 8 am and 9 pm local time on your scheduled delivery day." but yet a "policy" all of a sudden states that customers have to wait a full 24 hours after delivery day? Where is this located? It took me arguing with the customer service rep to finally get a full refund. Additionally, I was told the food would be edible since their packaging accounts for multiple days in transit... that is quite frankly, disgusting. Finally, they claim that their produce and eggs are organic... this is not true! I have received numerous non-organic items and also items that were of poor quality... when I questioned this I got a generic "robo" response back that didn't explain why I pay for quality and organic items but do not consistently receive either. In sum, Green Chef has a policy that contradicts their own FAQ's, expects customers to pay in full, but wait 48 hours after a scheduled delivery day to get a full refund when the food doesn't arrive, and also expects customers to eat food that has been in transit for about 48 hours... (I'm counting shipping days and 24 hours post delivery date). They also advertise being an organic company but do not supply all organic foods.
Refuse to listen to food preferences refused to not deliver pork to my house as a Jewish person after I offered to pay for it in order for it to be sent somewhere else they informed me it was not on the truck, but they would not be willing to stop it from going on the truck and coming to my house
Ordered my first box. Second box was charged and called the same day of charge to cancel and ask for a refund. They would not refund but canceled the subscription. The second box hadnt been shipped and refused to refund the amount that was just charged to my card.
I purchased a box from Green Chef, delivered 3/07, with a promo 60% off. I skipped a delivery for the following week. Navigating to the delivery for 3/21, I was surprised to see that the box also indicated a 60% discount. My credit card was charged for the product with a 20% discount instead of a 60% discount. I now believe that the 60% off shown on the website was a pricing error - I am requesting that the pricing displayed on the website be honored. Otherwise, I am being charged an amount other than the agreed-upon price, which is a fraudulent charge.I phoned support on 3/19 to let them know of the error. They informed me that there was nothing that they could do. I asked to speak to a supervisor - the employee indicated one would call me back within an hour, and I never received a call back.
Difficult to Cancel and Mediocre Meals: My Experience with Green Chef
I gotta say, I had a bit of a rough time with Green Chef. I tried to cancel my subscription three times before I finally succeeded. The cancel button was hidden away in some tiny text on a faraway page, so I accidentally got charged for another week of meals. I went back to the site and found some instructions buried in the lower text about how to email to cancel your account. I sent an email and thought I was all set. But then, six weeks later, I saw that I was being charged again! I checked the site and saw that now you have to call to cancel. So I called and talked to an associate who told me that calling was the only way to cancel now. I'm still waiting for the confirmation email so I can finally be done with them.
And let me tell you, the meals weren't even that great. I was on the Paleo Diet plan, but the portion sizes were small and the meals weren't very original. And for the cost, it just wasn't worth it. It seems pretty shady to make it so difficult to cancel your account and stop them from charging your credit card. I wouldn't recommend Green Chef to anyone.

Green Chef Scam: Beware of Sneaky Monthly Charges for "Free" Meals
So, I got this thing from Green Chef where they gave me 4 days of free meals. I was like, "cool, I'll try it out and see if I like it." I picked out my meals and they came to my door. But then, I saw on my bank account that they charged me $113 for more meals that I didn't even pick out! I was like, "what the heck?!" So, I called customer service and they made me wait on the phone for a long time. Finally, they told me that if I had gone to the FAQ and typed in "free", I would have seen that I was automatically signing up for their monthly service. Like, who does that? Who goes to the FAQ when they're getting free meals? It wasn't even on their main page, you had to type in a specific word! That's so sneaky! They only gave me half of my money back, too. I'm so mad about this. I've read other reviews where people had the same problem. I'm thinking about suing them. Watch out for Green Chef, they're not as nice as they seem.
Green Chef Serves Worm-Infested Meat: A Disgusting Experience and Poor Customer Service
So, I got a meal from Green Chef on June 13, 2020. I was so excited to try it out, but I didn't get around to cooking it until June 20, 2020. I had a long day at work and was really looking forward to a nice meal. I took the meat out of the freezer and started cooking it. Little did I know, there were worms in the meat! I was so grossed out when I found out. I had already cooked the meat and my husband had already eaten three bites. We were both so sick from the thought of eating worm-infested meat that we didn't eat anything else that night.
I tried to call Green Chef to complain, but they were closed. So, I sent them an email. Their customer service rep responded and acted like it wasn't a big deal at all. Can you believe that? I told them that this was a huge deal and that other people could get sick from eating the same worm-infested meat. They just said that they hoped I didn't hold it against them. I asked to speak to a manager, but it's been five days and I still haven't heard back from anyone at Green Chef.
I'm so upset about this whole situation. I can't believe that Green Chef isn't taking this seriously. I'm going to register a complaint with the USDA because I don't want anyone else to get sick from eating worm-infested meat. I'm also never going to use Green Chef or their parent company, HelloFresh, ever again. They've lost my business for life.
Disappointing Experience with Green Chef: Charged for Boxes Never Received and Poor Customer Service
I recently tried out Green Chef and was pretty disappointed with my experience. I was excited to receive my boxes of fresh ingredients and recipes, but unfortunately, I never received any of them. After a few weeks of waiting, I decided to give them a call and let them know what was going on. I was pretty frustrated when I found out that I had been charged $300 for boxes that I never even received.
The customer service representative I spoke to was not very helpful or understanding. He told me that it was my fault because I had entered my address incorrectly by one number. I was pretty upset by this response, especially since I had never received any kind of notification that my address was incorrect. The first guy I spoke to was extremely rude and told me that it was my fault for not reading the terms and conditions. I mean, who reads those things anyway?
I decided to call back a second time and spoke to a different representative who was a bit more helpful. He refunded me for my most recent box, but unfortunately, he couldn't refund me for the other three that I never received. I asked if there was anyone else in the company who could help me out, but he said no. He told me that I would have to dispute the charges with my bank if I wanted to get my money back.
Overall, I was pretty disappointed with my experience with Green Chef. I understand that mistakes happen, but I don't think it's fair that I was charged for boxes that I never received. I also think that their customer service could use some improvement. It's frustrating to feel like you're not being heard or understood when you're trying to resolve an issue. Plus, Green Chef is pretty expensive, so I would expect a higher level of service for the price. All in all, I don't think I'll be doing business with them again.
Beware of Hello Fresh's Green Chef Vegan Option: Misleading Sales Tactics and Delayed Refunds
So, I was at work and this lady from Hello Fresh came to talk to us about their food. I was pretty excited when she told me about Green Chef and their vegan option. The lady, Lauren, said that if I signed up that day, I would get a discount and be all set up to order whenever I was ready. I gave her my credit card and told her I would review the meals before ordering anything.
But then, the very next day, I saw that my card had been charged almost $80! I didn't even pick any meals yet! And there was no discount like Lauren promised. I called customer service and explained everything to them in an email. I was so upset that I was misled and how could they charge me for food I didn't even order yet?
They sent me an email back apologizing and saying that they would cancel my order and service. But it's been 5 days now and I still haven't gotten my refund. It's really disappointing.
If they ever come to your office to offer anything, don't do it! The reps they have working for them are obviously desperate to make sales and will lie to do it. It's just not worth it.
Green Chef Review: Scamming Customers with Hidden Menu and Refund Policy
So, I was scrolling through my social media feed when I saw a post from my friend about Green Chef. She mentioned that I could get my first order for only $10.00, so I clicked on the link and signed up. However, I was a bit skeptical when I saw that they were asking for my card information before showing me the food options available. But since my friend recommended it, I thought it would be okay.
After signing up, I went to check out the menu and unfortunately, my picky family didn't like any of the food options. So, within 10 minutes of signing up, I decided to cancel my order. I checked my bank account to see if the money had already been taken out, but it hadn't. Most companies don't charge until the order ships, so I thought I was in the clear.
However, the next morning, I noticed that they had charged my account a few hours after I cancelled. I was pretty upset about this, so I reached out to customer service and requested a refund. But to my surprise, they told me that since a shipping label had already been created (even though it hadn't shipped yet), I couldn't cancel my order and would be receiving a box full of food that my family wouldn't eat.
Now, I know $10 may not seem like a lot of money, but every dollar counts in our household. I felt like they were intentionally scamming customers by not letting them view the menu before buying and then refusing to give a refund. It's just not right.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend Green Chef to anyone. The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth, and I don't think I'll be giving them another chance.
GreenChef Review: Dishonest Billing and Overpriced Food
I recently had an experience with GreenChef that left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. I had cancelled my subscription with plenty of time before the cut off, but they still billed me via PayPal for the initial $36 charge. This was especially frustrating because a friend had gifted us a week with them, and I didn't want to continue with the service.
To make matters worse, I found that their food is vastly overpriced. I could fill a grocery cart at any Krogers, Meijers, Publix, or even half a cart at a Whole Foods for the same price as one box from GreenChef. It just doesn't make sense to me.
When I reached out to their representatives, they couldn't do anything but offer a refund that would take up to 2 weeks. This was incredibly frustrating, as I had cancelled my subscription and expected them to stop billing me. Why are you so dishonest, GreenChef? If someone cancels, they obviously want to break up with you; that means STOP BILLING US, not steal money out of our account like a thief at night.
Overall, I found their system to be lacking and their business model to be flawed. Their 1st level reps and their supervisors were unhelpful and didn't seem to care about my concerns. I will be leaving bad reviews on any and all platforms and filing a better business bureau complaint, as well as filing a fraudulent transaction report with both PayPal and my bank that they billed through.
It's frustrating to see a company operate in such a dishonest way. GreenChef let their cancellation process take longer, similar to how Bank of America is known to do, where they'll run all the transactions first to trigger overdrafts. This is not how good businesses operate; ones that care about their customers. I hope that GreenChef takes steps to improve their system and become more transparent with their customers in the future.
Disappointing Experience with Green Chef: Limited Menu, Incorrect Order, and Disappointing Meals
I was really excited to try out Green Chef, so I went ahead and signed up for an account. However, I was disappointed to find out that the menu for vegan and gluten-free meals was quite limited. I decided to cancel my account and not place an order. Unfortunately, I didn't receive any confirmation or cancellation emails from Green Chef.
To my surprise, about a week later, a package arrived at my doorstep from Green Chef with three meals that I didn't even order. While they were all vegan, one of them was not gluten-free. I immediately called their customer service, and the agent could see that the error was on their side. He assured me that I shouldn't have been charged or sent a box. However, there was no way to return the order, and the agent didn't have the authority to refund my purchase. He promised to check with his manager and email me the following day, but I never received any response.
Since we couldn't return the meals, I decided to cook them anyway. Unfortunately, I found all three meals to be quite disappointing. One of them was even embarrassingly bad. To my surprise, all three meals had kale in them as the green vegetable, as if kale is the only thing vegans will eat. The sauces were too salty, and some of the produce wasn't very fresh.
Overall, I was really disappointed with my experience with Green Chef. I have decided to dispute the charge on my credit card since I never actually placed the order but was charged for it. I would not recommend Green Chef to anyone looking for vegan or gluten-free meal options.
Green Chef's Sneaky Payment Process and Deceptive Fees: A Review
Have you ever been curious about Green Chef's payment process? Well, let me tell you, it's a bit sneaky. They make you pay first before you even choose your meals. Why? So you don't notice that you've selected a premium recipe that has an extra charge. Sneaky, right? Even if your email confirmation shows a certain price, if you chose a premium recipe without noticing the surcharge, expect to see an additional charge on your credit card bill. They won't even update the order total in an email, they'll just slip it in there.
And if you try to get a refund for the deceptive fee, their customer service agents will tell you that they can't because the recipes have already been shipped out. But if you threaten to cancel your membership, they'll suddenly offer to refund the fee as a "one time goodwill gesture," but only if you agree not to cancel. It's a bit ridiculous, if you ask me.
I haven't even received my first box yet, but based on the reviews I've seen, my expectations are pretty low. I don't need a meal delivery service that uses deceptive practices and has customer service agents that play games. I might even come back to write another review after I receive my first box.
Disappointing Experience with Green Chef's Vegan Plan: A Review
I just cancelled my subscription to Green Chef. I tried out their vegan plan and ate 10 meals in total (I still have my last 2 meals in the fridge waiting to be prepared). Unfortunately, out of the 10 meals, only 2 were worth eating again, and even then, I wasn't particularly excited about them. The food just seemed tasteless to me, relying on gloopy sauces of unknown origin for whatever flavor there might be. The recipes were more pretentious than delicious. For example, they made falafel with green peas instead of chickpeas. Really? It was underwhelming and made me want to get some real falafel somewhere else.
The recipes assume that the customer is experienced enough in the kitchen to figure out what to do. For instance, they would say "in a large pot," but what's large? Why not say "2 qt or larger"? It's confusing and frustrating. Who exactly is their target market? People with cooking skills who are too dense to figure out what to eat tonight? And if you think you'll be inspired to reuse the recipes on your own later, think again. All the flavor is in the mystery sauces they provide. The recipes I received are pretty useless without them.
Oh, and how can they constantly provide vegan meals at over 1000 calories per serving? It's got to be in the endless amount of oil they tell you to add and the gloopy mystery sauces again. It's very disappointing. It's even more expensive than restaurant prices.
I really wanted to like Green Chef, but unfortunately, it just didn't work out for me. I'm sure there are people out there who enjoy their meals, but it just wasn't for me.
Scammed!
I decided to try GreenChef and made an order. Since I had a coupon I was supposed to get it free.
After I made my order I immediately got charged!
I tried to contact customer service, sent them several messages but they replied only two days later and said that I was charged a subscription fee. I explained them that I had a coupon which I used to get a free order but they decided to ignore me. I asked them to cancel my subscription and give me my money back but received no reply yet.
I am totally disgusted at my ignored attempts to cancel with your company
I DO NOT WANT THIS TYPE OF SERVICE OR FOOD AND I HAVE ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS SAID SO
YOU HAVE THEREFORE ILLEGALLY TAKEN MONIES FROM MY BANK ACCOUNT WHICH I WISH RETURNED ASAP!
We have food restrictions and limited although the few things we’re able to eat we enjoyed
