During mid October 2022, I looked online for the phone number of the Hampton Inn & Suites in Imperial Beach, California so that I could book a room for three days for a military reunion. When I dialed the number the person did not identify themselves as an employee of Reservations Counter, but the assumption was that they were an employee of the Hampton Inn. I booked the room for the nights of October 27 - 30, 2022 for a sum of $270 per night plus taxes and fees. When I checked into the hotel I found that I had used a 3rd party service and had greatly overpaid. The room would have costed $160 per night plus taxes and fees. Anyone that uses the internet to book rooms please be certain you know who you are speaking to.
I called the company to complain and also provided them with an online review. I was told that there was nothing they could do and that they did identify themselves on the initial reservation phone call.
Desired outcome: I would like to be refunded the difference between the amount I paid and the actual cost of the room - minus any fee Reservation Counter might charge to do business
