Deceitful company 'the Camera Professionals' now sells under new name 'HD Camera World' ?
I was ready to order a video projector with www.TheCameraProfessionals.com because their price was so much lower than all the other companies, when I read about the 90 complaints for this company. One complaint said that they sell under different names in order to get away with their fraudulent schemes. When I tried to buy it from a different company I came across www.hdcameraworld.com who advertised the same low price. Being a bit more careful now I looked into the 'About Us' and discovered that the text is almost identical to the one of the cameraprofessionals. So be warned - most probably the same deceitful company is behind it.

Thank you, I was about to order a GPS from them, but it was the 4th of July weekend. I am also traveling, and did not want it to be left on my front porch.

I was nervous about the incredibly good price, as well. After hearing these comments, I am glad I waited, so that I won't lose my money or even worse have identity fraud. I do appreciate having others share, so keep it up everyone, so that no one gets taken advantage. Suz

Add www.shopdigitaldirect to the list, I ordered Home Theater projector and got a call asking if I wanted to upgrade to the retail version. for $179., asked what that was and was told the proj. I ordered comes without the bulb. They are a wholesale company. Nowhere on site does it state either. Obviously got upset with him and cancelled. He also tried to stick me with cancellation charge.

I am joining the throng of complainers about HDCameraWorld. I ordered a Canon Powershot 720A on June 30th and today I called to find out why it hadn't been shipped. After holding for 45 minutes was told that they had tried to reach me to tell me I hadn't ordered the $49 special battery for this camera and they wouldn't ship the camera unless I bought the special battery. When I said I wanted to cancel the order I was told there would be a 15% cancellation fee and they could charge that fee because it was posted on their website. I don't see it there. I have been ripped off of a $30 fee . . . Not a huge amount as scams go but I'm angry about it.

In researching The Camera Professionals on the Better Business Bureau'a website I discovered that this company also does business under the following names.

Best Digital Online
HDCameraWorld
Pay Less Digital
The Camera Pros
UB Digital

My experience with The camera professionals was so HORRIBLE I made a youtube video from the experience (including a phone conversation that I had with their customer service department - I did advise them that the conversation was being recorded). To help me break this scamming company, please go to youtube.com and type "the camera professionals" in the search box. Please leave comments!

Wish I had checked them out before blundering into there web of deceit. Live and learn. What recourse do I have? My bad for falling for there low price scam. They shipped the camera I ordered, but did not include the accessories in there so-called "starters package". I may never receive theses, but I will do everything I can to expose their tactics.

I ordered a Garmin GPS and was told to call to verify, when I did I was told the maps were out dated and I had to pay extra for 2008 maps. I said ok and should have realized the price with the maps was not any lower than anywhere else. Ordered June 20, 2008 did not get it until July 11th, 2008 after numerous phone calls to them. Money taken off my charge on June 26, 2008. Now when I went to register GPS was told it was already registered. DO NOT BE TAKEN IN WITH THE LOW PRICE, IT IS NOT WORTH IT.

I ordered a Olympus 550 camera. they stated it was new and I could buy a 5 year extended warranty for another 30 bucks. Got the camera, it didn't work and the extended warranty was for 3 years. Returned the camera and they received it on 7-17-08, still no refund credit on my credit card. I think the Attorney General of NY should get involved. Will most likely have to dispute the charge with my credit card co.

The camera I ordered did not have a Olympus warranty card and did not come in a factory box. I think they sold a refurbished camera as new.

Do not buy from this company.
I called them about a GPS unit that was very good price.
They told me it didn't have a battery...IT DOES
I hung up and called back thinking I got an ignorant sales person.
This person said yes it does have a battery but I needed to buy maps to load.
When I told them that from what I understood, it came preloaded, they said no it doesn't, I needed to buy the map.
The guy yelled at me, saying "You want the map or not".
When I asked him to explain what it said on the description about being preloaded, HE HUNG UP.
I called Garmin...IT COMES PRELOADED, you don't need to buy a map.
THIS COMPANY SHOULD BE BANNED FROM THE SERVER

Thanks for taking the time to post your complaints. I was tempted to buy a Fujifilm camera from HD CameraWorld since its price is so much less than others I have seen online. Fortunately, before ordering, I searched their name and came upon this website. It isn't worth saving a few dollars to go through the hassles all of you have described. I'll order from Amazon.

I ordered a Canon PowerShot camera on 7/27/2008 from HD Camera. When I called to confirm my order, I was put on hold for 30 minutes. Twice a person came on line and said "please wait". When they got on line, they said they were shipping out my order, but I would have to order a battery. I had called before my order and they said that it was complete as listed by Canon. He hung up the phone. This company is a scam and sould be stopped from their decepitive practices.

I ordered a GPS unit from HD Camera World and called the same day to confirm my order, Michael Levy (customer service rep) tried everything in his power to upsale me software, warrenties, etc. The called was finished when I explained I just wanted the GPS unit and he hung with a smug "I'll just send the unit Mam."

One week later and no unit, so I called HD Camera World again and talked to Michael again. He explained to me that I had never called to confirm order that it would definitly not be to me by the date expressed on order form. I asked to speak to manager and was hung up on. Called again, hung up on. Called again and was told that the order had been cancelled, then hung up on, no explanation!

TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE!

July 31, 2008:
I was leery of the web-listed price for a Garmin nuvi 650 GPS as it was more than 30% lower than almost all other vendors, so I decided to call to find out what was "in the box" as this is not described on their website.
The salesman responded to my request to purchase by immediately asking if I wanted maps with it. I answered no and he responded that I had to get maps. I responded that I am very familiar with the unit, because I own one and am purchasing this one for my wife, that it comes preloaded with the maps from Garmin...at which point he cut me off by saying he only sells them when you buy the maps and he hung up. This is, euphemistically, a "misrepresentation." Don't trust this company and I would never buy anything from them on-line.

I agree with all, they are the devil.I called to confirm my order and this guy told me I was getting an overseas model camera and said it was made out plastic . I told him to just cancel the order and it had been only 30 minutes since I ordered told me that he would have to charge me $60.00 to cancel my order, I said no way am I going to pay you . They should be shut down immediately .

I was placed on hold serveral times to confirm an order that I placed on 7/25/08. When some one came on the line, there greeting HOW CAN I HELP YOU. There was no greeting on the company name or anything. I work in a business where customer services is key to selling the product. So since you customer services was clearly so rude. I canceled my order and will let all my business associates and friends know not to use your company.

This company is a fraud! We actually called the company before placing the order for an Olympus camera and asked them how they could sell at prices much lower than their competitors. They told us it was because they bought wholesale lots. We ordered the camera. Next my daughter received a call from them telling us we needed to buy the battery for the camera at an extra $60.00. She told them no way, and to cancel the order. They hung up on her! I immediately called my credit card company and had them to deny any charges made from this company on my credit card. I then called the company and of course had to wait 30 plus minutes on hold before anyone answered my call. At this point I told the woman to make sure my order was canceled. Get a cancelation number from them! I asked her why they charge extra for a battery that comes in the box with the camera. She said it says on the website that the camera does not come with the camera. I disagreed with her, and of course, she humg up on me! This website needs to be shut down! Do Not Buy!

I wished I had seen the complaints listed on your web-site before ordering. Ordered a camera on Saturday Fuji S700, they e-mailed my husband asking him to confirm order, they tried to get us to up grade telephoto lens, then to up-grade filters, frustrated with the situation, we down graded our package from professional to intermediate. He then hung-up on us. Husband called back to check status on Wednesday, we were told guy from Saturday didn't want to deal with us and had canceled order, we never got a confirmation of that having been done, only the confirmation of original order. The so called manager then tried to tell us the batteries and charger on the original order were no longer in stock and would not carry them anymore and it would cost an extra $50 for the 4hr battery and charger. At this point I had my husband hand me the phone and asked him to explain it to me. I then tried to voice my concern the manager said he didn't want to listen that he understood the situation and that I did not need to go through it with him. I then told him repeatedly to cancel the order and he kept trying to tell me why charging me $70's and down grading the memory from 4GB's to 2 GB's was a better deal for me. As it stands right now I am concerned he will charge our credit card account anyway. 8-6-2008.

I thought ot would be a good deal. They were charging almost half of what other sites were charging for a particular camera model...

Very odd to receive an email after placing the order which said "please call ###### to confirm your order." Very strange indeed! I have ordered many things online, and after filling out the form, you get your product in a few days. Suspicious!

After several calls of waiting and waiting with no pickup, finally got through, and the rude fella who kept talking over me said" we needed to reach you because the camera you ordered had no battery." Who sells cameras without batteries?!? Of course, this bumped up the price considerably, making the "savings" obselete.

Now worried that this unscrupulous business has my credit card numbers, I feel I must warn others against this shady dealing...

Don't buy from them. They use hard sell on extra's that are included in the basic camera package & tell you the are not included. I had to call to "confirm" my on-line order & was given the hard-sell for "extras". I paid for expedited shipping & when i called in 3 days to check on the status of my order, i was told i never called to "confirm" my order (I guess they never placed my order since i didn't agree to buy the "extras" that were supposed to be included. They then told me the camera was back-ordered & would take 10-12 weeks for delivery.
Don't waste your time & money with this outfit.
There are plenty of other legitimate on-line companies to use.

I ordered a nikon coolpix camera. Recieved email to confirm. Called to confirm was informed camera didn't come with the charger or battery. I was sure it was advertized with them. Found paperwork I had printed at time I placed order. States under supplied accessories that it did come with charger and battery plus cables, straps, ect. Called back. Spoke with Simon he said show me. I went to the web sight pulled up camera and the page had been changed. I told him I would fax him the page I printed he just said it was impossible that there was no way it said that. I asked that the order be cancelled. Was hung up on.

I researched the Olympus 770SW camera to find the best price and I found HD Camera World a.k.a :
The Camera Professionals
Best Digital Online
Pay Less Digital
The Camera Pros
UB Digital
(info from bbb.org)
The price was $165.00 which was $30 to $150 lower than everyone else. I even called to make sure it was new and they said all their cameras were new. Ok then good deal right? Not! The friend I recommended the site to bought the camera with a $39.99, 3yr warranty($165+$40+$10 shipping=$215. Then they called him and told him that he needed a new battery because it only came with a 15minute trial battery? and so they charge him a huge price for a battery and threw in a "free" quick battery charger because the one that came with it was an 18 hour charger. So the final price was $328 out the door. So he was charged about $110 more than expected! So I call then to ask what the deal was and they tell me that it was an imported camera (what is that?-gray market) and it was clearly obvious when buying the camera (yeah right). An imported camera doesn't have a manufacturer's warranty and doesn't come with a real battery. He also upgraded him to a "better" 3yr warranty for $89.99. So the customer service guy makes it out like he helped out my friend by upgrading him and then basically said it was a good price and put me on hold abruptly and I hung up. Do not buy from this company ever. I could have bought the camera on Amazon for $199.00 with free shipping with a battery included (image that) and I could have bought a 2 year extended warranty from Olympus for $49.99. So I could have saved $75. Don't not go for the cheapest vendor and do not buy from The Camera Professionals or their aliases; you will regret it.

Ordered camera online, told on confirmation to call, they then SOLD me another battery and "threw in" a charger. After saying NO a number of times, and getting hung up on by John, I finally said yes (why? I don't know) It was going into the mail that day. 3 weeks later no product. I talk with Frank Bosko (sp) who I cancel my order with and tells me there was no charge on my VISA. I say there was a charge - he says "fine I'm lying" and hangs up on me. WOW! So I call back to talk with customer service and find out Frank (MANAGER!) never canceled my order. I also discuss with George that they charged my VISA for more than what my order form said! They tell me I have to talk to the manager... FRANK! Frank waited another 15 minutes to pick up the phone knowing it was me and then kept putting me on hold, and sent me away back to customer service where I wait to be picked up again...

HD Cameraworld is the worst company on the internet, I purchased a camera for my sons 12th birthday, it was an Olympus 1030 underwater camera, I purchased two day shipping so it would get here on time for my sons birthday, of course it did not ship on time but each day I called about it they said it would get to me on time. Finally after four broken promises the camera was not here on my sons birthday as they promised so I called the company and cancelled the order, or so I thought. I proceed to the local best buy to buy the camera locally for my son that day and the next day I received an email saying the camera I had cancelled from HD Cameraworld had shipped to me. I immediately called Frank in there customer service department and he screamed at me accusing me of never cancelling the order and called me a liar. He then told me to take the camera that I purchased from Best Buy back to the store for a refund as his was a better price. After arguing for quite a while he told me I could refuse the shipment and he would refund the cost back to my credit card, of course after reading the fine print on his website if I did send this back I would not receive a complete refund that is certain.
The company also charged my credit card prior to shipping the product which is a fraudulent practice.
Do not do business with this company, I am turning the matter over to my attorney and reporting them to the state of New York, they are thieves. Frank will understand thatyoucan't blatantly rip people off without consequences, I will make certain of that.

Same episode happened to me, I got an e-mail "please call [protected] to confirm you order" O.k that is strange enough, no one does this, but even when I called, no one picks up for hours. Seems like it's a nice deal, but it's more like a scam for credit card information purposes.

I usually do research on companies before buying but didn't this time - I wish I had! Purchased a camera and had to call to confirm order which I thought was odd. That is when they lure you in for extra's. I was told the battery was junk that came with the camera and was offered the best battery for the cheaper battery price - $169. They also through in a top-of-the-line charger with it. Wanted to sell me $200 worth of insurance and then brought that price down to $40. And then the memory card that comes with the camera will only hold 2 photos so they requested I buy a 4g for $130. Of course shipping insurance was costing $60. I only purchased the additional battery & charger then got on line and found this site with numerous complaints like mine. I then called to cancel the order and was treated rudely by Joe. When I ask for a cancellation email he said cancelled and hung up on me. I tried calling back but they had already blocked my phone #. Now I must worry that they have my credit card #. I definitely will have that # changed once this mess is cleared up! BEWARE...BEWARE...BEWARE

I bought a Garmin Nuvi 680 GPS Portable Car Navigation system for $272.87 delivered from www.hdcameraworld.com. I was sent an e-mail three days later requesting that I call them to confirm my purchase. I called and was asked if I wanted to purchase maps that needed to be uploaded to the GPS unit. Now why in the world would I have bought a GPS system without preloaded maps?

My advice to you is to run the other way when HDCameraWorld.com sells you something and you have to call them to confirm your order. This company does not even list their physical address anywhere on their website.

My complaint is similar to the complaints listed in regard to HD Camera World.
1. This company does not operate with best interests of their consumers.
a. High pressure selling to add additional items to invoice that they did not deliver.
b. Delivery made to incorrect address.
c. Order missing memory card
d. Called HD several times after delivery to tell them the memory card was not included.
Charlie in customer service said it would be shipped the next day and that I would receive an order
shipment confirmation email..Of course nothing was shipped and no email sent..This was promised
each time I called these people.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, IT HAS MANY COMPLAINTS AGAINST IT.

These guys are terrible. Bought a camera and they said it was "imported" and said it was part of their policy. I checked their privacy policy and their terms of condition, and it didn't say anything about selling imported cameras. When I asked if that meant it was fake, the response was "Call it whatever you want Sir". Awful. If they had an address I would report them to the BBB.

Placed an order on Aug 14/08 for a digital camera since the price is what caught my eye...After checking the order status, which seemed to be processing the entire upcoming week, I called HD Camera World and spent 10 minutes on hold..After finally reaching a rep, I was told that the camera I was looking for was out of stock and scheduled to be shipping from their Canadian warehouse in two weeks...The rep tried to sell me the same camera, which was in stock, but claimed that it was more expensive than the one I had inquired about since it had a "magnesium" case / body. I researched the web for the camera I was looking for and it only came with a plastic body and no "magnesium" option was available. This simply showed that the rep was trying to sell me the same product and ask $150 more than the original price. Once I said no and told the rep I was going to wait 2 weeks for the camera to come in from Canada, he told me that I did not provide him with a three digit code found on the back of my credit card. Without one, the rep told me my order could not be processed. I again called HD Camera World about a month later and inquired about my order. I was able to reach a female rep, after only being on hold for 10 minutes. She told me that my camera was on back order till late September and would not be shipping until then. At that point I was simply fed up with their ### and had the order canceled. I strongly recommend not to deal with this company as their low prices may fool you as they did me.. I did my research afterwards and found this thread to be really helpfull...

You are a fool if you read this and deal with these idiots! I ordered 3 camera's after finding their price on the internet. I ordered on Saturday and requested UPS Blue for shipping. Wednesday morning came and no cameras. I called the phone number on the order confirmation and the idiot that answered the phone said "we where holding your order until you confirmed it". I was outraged I had an email that had the headline "Order Confirmaiton". Anyways the yankee smooth talked me into some extra pieces which sounded good. I said ok and he said they would get it right out. Thursday I get a call from another one of these idiots (oh yes there are more idiots working for this company, you will see) telling me that my credit card company would not ship to another address than my shipping. I informed them that I have no problems using this ship to address on my card and havent had any problems for the past two years. They told me to contact my credit card company. I told them I would call back. So anyways I am pretty upset at this point. I search on the net and find the same camera with everything much less. I call these idiots back to cancel the order. I get put on perma hold off and on by 4 different people for over 20 minutes. Finally I talk with the ultimate idiot from this company. He starts talking so fast I cant understand a word he says. finally he asks me why am I cancelling this order, before I can answer him he is talking over me. I tell him if he would be quiet I could answer his question. I start explaining everything again and he still cant shut up. Finally I tell him since he is so smart to figure it out and cancel my order. He puts me on perma hold for at least 5 more minutes. He comes back on and says my order is cancelled and I politely ask him for his name (so I can document this) and his answer sounds like Dro or something. I ask him a again and he says the same garbled name again. I ask him to spell it and this is where he really shows his intelligence. He said "JOE or JO or JOW or JOA depending on how you want to spell my name". I couldnt beleive how unprofessional and how rude this idiot is. BEWARE of these idiots. I will continously monitor my credit card I dont trust these people. I am very scared they are con artists. I would like to say something else to JOE OR JO OR JOW OR JOA howevery you spell you name since you dont know how to spell your name...if your every down in Georgia and want to have a good southern ### kickin please by all means let me know I will be glad to teach you respect since your momma didnt. I called to order an Olympus SP 550 UZ on sale for $169.99 when i tryed to order it without the " accessories" such as the memory card or batteries, they told me I had to order online and was very rude and abusive, but for some stupid reason i decided to go ahead and order the camera online (because i thought it was a good deal) I ordered the camera, waited 6 days and no camera delivered, so i tryed to track it online, couldnt get anywhere, when i called them back, they told me that if i didnt purchase an $69.99 warrenty on the camera, then they are not going to deliver my phone and have the audacity to charge a 15% cancellation fee!.. I told them to cancel my order and a 15% late fee better not be charged and then was hung up on. WARNING! DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY, IT IS A SCAM OF THE HIGHEST ORDER AND IF THERE ARE ANY ATTORNEYS LOOKING FOR A CLASS ACTION LAWSUITE, YOU GOT ONE HERE.
