On 12/15/2021, there was a rain storm in my area. water came from the roof and was dripping onto my sofa and leaking onto my flooring. Bamboo was called to inform them of the issue. Bamboo hired used Code blue who then subcontracted the work to DKI Restoration to come out assess and remediate.
DKI came to the house asked me to remove my Christmas tree and furniture so they can perform work directed by Bamboo.
DKI tarped my roof and removed dry wall inside my house from the walls and ceiling. They also removed around 100 s.f. of flooring which exposed the concrete. They proceed to place fans and sectioned the area with plastic. I was under the impression, they were only going to tarp the ceiling and place fans.
On 1/11/2022, my claims adjuster called and denied the claim, for "wear and tear".
Spoke with Cheryl Whaley, the claims adjuster for Bamboo, in order to get an understanding of the denial. We asked for documentation of the photos taken by the adjuster sent. She stated we would have to ask her boss, Mark Cowart who only provided a phone number in the denial letter.
We asked Cheryl about why did they have out flooring, walls and ceiling ripped up if they were not going to cover the costs and not put it back together. She had no answer. We has since sent several emails to her and have left her and her boss at least 10 messages to find out who is going to get us back whole after they sent people to come and demolish our home. They have not responded at all and I would like some closure from this company.
Almost 2 months from the event, our front room still has exposed concrete from the removal of the flooring and exposed ceiling and walls.
I would like that removed the statement of wear and tear as well as neglect off our denial letter. We have had several companies on the roof, one to install solar and also for wind damage. Both didn't state any urgent report to repair our roof so it is not due to neglect.
Second, I would like my house put back into it's original state. I did not hire the contractors to remediate. I did not know the scope of work to be performed by the contractors hired by the insurance company otherwise, I would not have allowed them to tear up my house and make a section of it to be inhabitable.
