Jack Focus review: Misinformation led to the employer paying without having all the necessary information; poor customer service

I am posting this review on behalf of my friend- Ms Luo, who recruited a maid from Jack Focus, Bukit Timah. I would appreciate if the person in charge can speak to my friend/ myself.

2023, 24/25 Jan - Maid returned to agency

In 2023, after I returned the maid, they sent us another new maid without seeking my agreement to send the previous maid to see a doctor. Later, I was informed that I needed to pay a bill of over $9000. When we brought this up with the agency, Alvin, the person in charge (and the son of the big boss), assured us that we didn’t have to pay. So, we thought the matter was resolved.

In March 2023, I moved to a new place. I suspect that the letters from SGH hospital, where my previous maid was treated, have been sent to my old address asking for payment.

In April 2024, I received a call from SGH claiming that I haven’t paid the $9000 bill. I was shocked and contacted the agent again, but they denied having promised earlier that I wouldn’t have to pay.

I consider myself a good employer. I believe SGH has checked her phone, and even the agent affirmed my good treatment of the maid. My parents cooked for her, and her workload was minimal.

I do not want to pay the bill because:

1. I did not cause her illness.

2. Misleading information from the agent

3. The agent asked me not to to pay (Kindly refer to Ms Luo’s screenshot)

On one hand, the agency apologizes and assures that they maintain high standards; on the other hand, they contradict themselves with the values they should uphold. It seems they have something to hide; otherwise, why would they keep amending their comments?
