We bought an expensive black leather lounge a 2 seater and 3 seater from harvey norman cairns it was a janda lounge, after 3 years the leather cracked and the frame broke, they sent an inspector out that said the blame was 50 /50, we have cared for the lounge as recommended since purchase, they offered to repair it if we sent it back to brisbane 2000 klms away at our expense, they can go jump, never ever buy janda rubbish again, we should have bought a cheaper, it would have lasted better than janda! Janda is crap !

Another update, janda for the 1st time actually contacted me, only because of my comments on here, they had no clue whatsover how we were 50/50 liable for their leather cracking, if we neglected it it would be all over, but its on 2 cushions and some other little bits, the inspector apparently never told them their lousy frame also broke, they still refuse to replace their rubbish furniture and still want me to pay transport for a 4000 klm trip, be warned they sell rubbish and then hide behind dodgy inspectors reports!

Dear Comfy, personally I would be going anywhere near Janda or Harvey Norman. Once they have your money they don't care after that, even when your legally entitled to your money back after the first repair. Then you have to fight them in court to get it! A huge risk if you do, one I wouldn't be taking. They know about all the complaints of the same issues about their lounges, Jason from Janda has been on here and seen them all and commented, but they still refuse to do what's right and take the b;ame for their crap lounges. They still are happy to charge top dollar and take your money. I have considered about going to Current Afair about this and letting them know that Mr Harvey really doesn't give a damn about how his fellow Australian customers are being treated. It's all greed and money to them, loyalty and consideration left that company a long time ago.

Dear Comfy
You have probably already purchased something by now, but just in case you were still considering the York I would advise steering clear.
Look, it honestly does clean up beautifully and I have had some experience with that due to being the parent of 4 young children. It is also quite comfortable, I cannot complain about that either. But the quality is just not there. Ours is 2.5 years old and a spring has already broken through and poked up into the cushions above. Sure if it was in the area my husband likes to sit, or right in the middle it might make some sense, but it is over near the edge. Where the view of the TV is least satisfactory and where no-one subsequently sits. The cushions are coming unstitched. And the wood feet have all peeled. My children are not rough, they get in trouble very quickly if they try to put their feet on it or jump around, and the heaviest of the 3 younger and sillier ones is still only 14kgs so highly unlikely to make much of a dint. The suites feet are tucked under and I tend to move the suite and vacuum under there on specific occasions rather than regularly. In other words I don't bang the vacuum cleaner into the feet. Nothing touches them, they should not be damaged. Yet they look atrocious. The corner where my husband sits (approx 80kgs) has practically collapsed. It sinks in. After only 2 years!
I had an original Moran suite prior to the Janda. One my parents purchased over 30 years ago. I had it recovered and used it for 10 years including for 6 years with my children. I got rid of it in perfect condition. To update to something more stylish. Silliest thing I ever did. Oh, except for wasting my money on a Janda suite.

I wish I had read all these comments before we purchased our Florentino settees in October 2008 from Harvey Norman Cairns. After 3 years one of the handrests on the 2 seater settee was turned in so the recliner was sticking. I contacted a local furniture repairer to have a look at it. He believed that the repair would be minor so I didn't do a warranty claim. When the furniture repairer pulled the leather and foam from the settee the frame where the armrest is located had been smashed which could only have been caused in transit when we initially purchased it. The furniture repairer called us to go to his workshop to see for ourselves so that we could see the damage and the poor quality materials used in the frame. The so called marine-bonded ply is more like balsa wood and the frame is stapled - not a screw in sight. In one area the staple gun musn't have been working because there are numerous dents in the pine frame. To cut a long story short, we had the settee repaired by the local repairer and when I contacted Janda to make a claim under warranty the reply was that I should have contacted the store of purchase and they will not honour my warranty claim because I did not follow the warranty claim guidelines for repair. Am I surprised after reading all the previous comments. I agree it is a waste of money to purchase Janda furniture if you are expecting a quality product.

I purchased a Janda lounge suite about 5 years ago. I recently had cause to contact Janda to get a new trigger for one of therecliners. This tuned out to be a small nightmare! Originally when I contacted the firm I spoke to Michelle and after telling her my problem she requested some information so that she could send me the right product. After this I did not hear from Janda for a couple of weeks (Michelle was on holidays). When I nex contacted Janda I encountered Jason. He got the same information, as he could not access Michelle's email and he promised that the trigger would be sent when I notified him that the payment for the trigger had been made. After a number of follow up phone calls asking where the trigger was I got the response that it had been sent (by Express Post no less). This normally takes a day, two at the most. I got the tracking number of the item and found that this was number was for someone else in another state! The information came from Jason. I again contacted Janda and got Michelle, returned from hols, and she tokk up the issue again and I had the trigger the next day. Jason followed up with an email asking for a confirmed address so he could send a trigger the day I got the one from Michelle. I suppose I should be happy I got what I needed but I should not have had to go through the hoops I did just for something as simple as that

DONT ever buy a FLORENTINO lounge from VIP Furniture, Cairns. We purchased a 3 and 2 seater recliner lounge in August 2011. By March 2012 the 3 seater stitching had come away from one of the foot sections and wadding had separated and seats had collapsed leaving my husband with his backside almost touching the floor (he's not a fat bloke). We contacted VIP (trish) who'd only informed Janda of stitching only. weeks went by. I contacted the support@janda email box and gave a full precis of the issues with limited followup. we even invited VIP to come out and see the issues. VIP then told us that Janda agreed to the faults. However when we got it back from VIP only the stitching was fixed not the seats. When we queried this VIP said "ohh we didn't know about this". I'd told them Janda certainly did and have email trail to prove. Attempts to have this resolved are non existent with the inspection company "Coastal Coverings" saying in their report that this was normal "wear and tear" what! in 8 months in a careful home. they stated that we should sit on the middle seat... what a joke! they also recommended that if we wanted this fixed we'd have to pay for it. However VIP picked up our Lounge from Coastal Coverings even before they contacted us... definitely something strange going on here.
I've spoken to Michelle at Janda who assured me that she would follow through. to date no contact. I phoned today (12.07.2012) in an attempt to escalate to Complaints Manager to discover that it's the same person... My husband suffers from degenerative disc disease after a lifetime of carrying around patients and despite my appeals to Janda for resolution they have not acted. the above are factual accounts that can be evidenced.

These are my white leather Janda Lounges I bought in 1990. They have many a drunken night, wild parties moving from different towns, kids you name it they have had a bit of a flogging I clean them twice a year. I am just about to buy 2 Janda york
sofas from Harvey Norman Bennetts Green NSW I hope they can handle a fair bit of treatment as well.

Could anyone give me any information on the Janda Tribune lounges? Husband and I were in Harvey Normans today and must say they look and feel fantastic however they were a bit pricey. After reading all the above comments I am definitely in two minds about buying Janda now -and I have ALWAYS been wary about buying from HN!

I purchased The Hustler recliner suite, which was delivered just before Christmas last year. The whole family love it! In January I noticed a huge gap between the back and seat when reclined in the lounge, I reprted this to Harvey Norman and The lounge was replaced in April. The second lounge lasted 3 months. The metal frame was warped and the left side of the lounge was leaning over and also stitching was coming undone in a seam. Again I contacted Harvey Norman, the lounge was inspected and I was told someone would collect the loung (just the back of it) and it would be repaired. After consideration I called the store and insisted on a new lounge. They delivered a new lounge 4 weeks ago, which is slightly darker than the chairs and much firmer. Tonight as a sat on the lounge I heard a huge crack. I looked under the seat and the main support bar which is timber has snapped right where there is a large knot in the wood. I am considering requesting a refund as I do not want to be replacing my lounge every few months...has any one else had issues with The Hustler? Perhaps the lounge is aptly named!

Thanks for all the advice, we were headind back to Harvey Norman to purchase a Janda Saint Clair Lounge tomorrow. We sat on numerous lounges today and the Janda was the best. However from all these comments itbis not worth the risk to investbin something which will fail after a couple of years. Can anyone recommend a good quality lounge?

Steer clear of the York lounge. We purchased the York Lounge last July. One year in and the lounge seat cushions material sags, the cushions have all but lost their plumpness. The spring material is coming away from the back of the couch. Yes, it does get used daily however we take pride in our furniture and our last lounge lasted 13 years and still looked great when we gave it away (Australian made). This has been a waste of $2000 (inclduing extra protection) and will never purchase their brand again. It will be interesting to see what it does when dry cleaned under the extra protection we took.

Guys I am a tradesman with 30 yrs experience in furniture manufacture and design. Almost without exception, major franchises import leather lounges with 'split', 'reconstituted' or 'bonded' leather. Leather has different grades - A, B, C. Whatever they call it, it isn't what the customer has been led to believe he is buying - Leather! We tradesmen are as angry as the public at the posturing of these jokers and the lengths they will go, to avoid warranty issues. I gave up my role with one of Australia's largest manufacturers as a claims assessor as I could not stomach the poor quality of the initial product and poor workmanship by unqualified labourers followed by the inability or preparedness to do what is right at point of return. They should be ashamed, the diggers and Anzac's would be! Australian made- what a joke! Find yourself a local tradesman (with Trade papers to prove he is one!) And pay him to build you a bespoke piece that is truly made with Australian hands - in Australia!

We purchased our 2 single recliner & 3 seat recliner from Harvey Norman Bundall about 8 years ago, Has been okay till last year when the footrest started to peel and also the backs of the single recliners are splitting and peeling as well. Two of the cushions have lost their colour from black to brown. I have argued that they are falsely advertising 100% Cowhide leather, however as I cant find my initial receipt they cant locate my details of the purchase.
Has anyone had any luck making a claim against Janda or had their lounges repaired or replaced.
