This review was chosen algorithmically as the most valued customer feedback.

I was displaced by hurricane Katrina in Sept. of 2005 to Atlanta, GA where my dad lives. While there I decided to attend Javelin Technical Training.

The people in Admin. told me nothing but good things about this program for medical/billing coding (moe) like: one on one teching, good computer learning programs, good teachers, etc.

With all this said and done us students was teaching each other, the teachers was actual previous students due to not finding employment, we didn't even have the coding books for the course included in tuition, which is the main books we needed.

This school needs to be banded by the, (BBB), there lesson plan just was not right. This school cost too much money to not have learned nothing that was worth 10, 000 for tuition.

I cant get a job in field due to not having 6mths experience but i am still in debt with student loans. This school only care about money not a good education. More than I have problems getting a job that attended this school something needs to be done like a total refund or something. I now have 3 children to raise, feed and cloth.

Javelin Technical Training is a big ripoff. this school needs to be exposed and shut down and also go bankrupt so us students can get this debt off under our belts and move forward in life for a better career.

this is true about this school, waste of time they teach you with the prior year billing and coding books that you have to share with other students, why am i paying 2000 for books, you cant take the billing and coding books home, they give you the cheapest certification possible, please do your research is all i can say, I wish i never started here it is a waste of my time and money, they only care about you coming to school everyday so they can keep their numbers up the staff is unprofessional, the turnover ratio is ridiculous, on top of that they sell people fake dreams they do not have agreements anywhere for externship you have to find your own, trust me and stay away from this school

Yes Javelin Tech is a complete rip off. I'm currently attending this school & not only do you independantly study in school they barely lecture. Basically, you could have did online school for less money. I don't understand with all the money I have to pay back why is the medical coding book not included, that's the book you need the most. Also, medical terminology class is too short, with all the information provided you need at least 3 mths to grasp all that crazy info. I wish I would have read the reviews online before being suckered into this school.

Remember, they warn you when you go to the school that it's an excellerated program, that means classes are very short with alot of information they expect you to learn. Your better off going to a college & getting a degree than this school. Trust me I know. Good luck!

I totally agree with both of you about Javelin. I only went for two months but prior to my leaving I spoke with one of the counselors to let them know that I was unhappy. He advised me to hang in there a little longer and that he promised that things would get better. When I signed up, it was for a Business Administrative class priced at $8, 000, not knowing that the only thing that they would be teaching in this class was Microsoft Word, Excel and I believe Powerpoint. Why would I pay someone $8, 000 to learn that? I believe schools like this should be banned and not approved.I am totally disgusted and humilated at this school. And one of my biggest complaints was also that the staff was very unprofessional.

i am attending javelin now i have 8wks left & everyday that i have to go to this god for saken school i DREAD IT! i've been unhappy since day 2...i should've been left but i don't like to start something and not finish most of the people here are GHETTO FABULOUS! i feel like i'm back in '07 senior yr w/ a bunch of high school kids and most of these fools are older than me just now going back to school but yet they want to talk & gossip while the teachers are trying to explain something. Recently they've been trying but that terminology class needs to be longer with some hands on going on they were trying to rush it and most of the people didn't get what we needed for the clinical part that i'm in now which took months to get to after i took the damned terminology class...It is a waste of money but i feel like if you can sell yourself and do a bit more studying and practice when you can you will be all right cause i have heard a few success stories from here...but tell me why they have this bell that they are suppose to ring every time a student gets a job but yet they've rung it like 3x's in like 4months?!?!?!?!?!?!?! thats not a good sign but only GOD KNOWS

I agree with most of you. I attended this school in 2009 because I was laid off. I am educated and feel really foolish because I did not do my research. At the time I was desperate and knew I needed to change my field of study. This school is very misleading and I would not recommend it to anyone. The cost for medical billing is ridiculous [$16, 000] I was fortunate and blessed to find a job and I am currently repaying this school $200 a month when I could have went to West Georgia or West Central tech and studied the same course for much less. [No more than $2, 000] This school needs to be investigated. You are lied to from the top on down. The people in financial aid are very misleading. They feed you with a bunch of "BS" you do not fully grasp. I will never understand why I had to produce my 2007 taxes when it was 2009. I was receiving unemployment benefits and these slickers said they had to use my 2007 taxes to determine my eligibility status. When I asked why, they said in so many words "that's just the way it is". I kick myself everyday, because I should have ran far away then. But like I said earlier, I needed to make a change quick and just hate I did not do my research. This is a learning experience for me. This school is a total rip off! Steer clear.

STAY AWAY! I am currently a student, at this HELL HOLE school. I carry a 3.5 G.P.A. So I'm not complaining because of failure in my studies. Yet, This school is ran like a charter high school. Matter of fact a middle school with uniforms. Thats the way they talk to you and run the school also. The admin. is totally unprofessional and are disrespectful. All they care about (once they get your money) Is attendance! The attendance policy is some bs. You miss two days in three weeks You have to repeat the course, (even if the days are excuses). Now you may think well I'm going to class everyday. So that would not pretain to me. But for example what happen if your child get the flu. That mean you going to be out for a week or so. Lord help you if your other child get the flu or you, during that time. With that said you will be repeating the course. No matter if your lesson are complete for that section or not. I have seen it and been in that position. All the classes are really over price online course's. Including their computer program. Which I am currently enrolled. The main problem is not enough people in the school stand up for what is right. If that the way the staff talk to you or you not getting the education your paying for. If you have not enrolled in this school. But your considering going here. BOTTOMLINE Do NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE. It a scam and it's not worth the stress.

i recently went through a lay off and had a very difficult time. i decided i needed to re-invent myself and go to school.school was a great idea .Javelin was the worst thing i could have ever done.i realized it about the second week. everything they tell you is a lie. the so called instrctors are the pits. the people that attend are the pits.i understood very well that it is an accelerated program but this was ridiculous. how can anyone learn medical terminology in four weeks impossible. the administration is terrible. this training center and i use that very loosely should be shut down. the population they target is low income people already struggling and make it seem like the ideal situation. it's really ashamed the government doesnt do anything about this. even when you get certified it isn't the actual certification you need to be a medical biller and coder.the career services are the worst of them all lazy and good for nothing. people please be warned don't be stupid like so many of us have been STAY AWAY FROM JAVELIN!

I agree I just recently finished in there medical billing and coding program. I practically taught myself everything. I was placed on an externship at a doctors office where all I did was call insurance companies to verify patients insurance and the rest of my six of seven hours there I was filing in the medical records office. I learn totally nothing there. And I was told the same thing to stick it out it would get better but it didnt for six weeks. Now that I am done with the program I am so not comfortable looking for employment in this field that I was so excited about because I dont have any hands on experience. They really dont care where they place you and if you get the experience or not. I complained to them on several occasions about what I was doing. Still nothing was done and my phone calls started being ignored. I was just there at that office as extra help and thats probably what they informed the office managers of when speaking with them about extern placement. It was just eight months of total waste of my time and I am a single mother tring to better herself for the care of her child. Thanks for nothing javelin morrow location

Every comment is very true! I went to Javelin a few years ago. Completed the program with a 3.8 average. I have never been able to use the education I paid and still paying for! It was the biggest waste of time, money and energy! This school should be closed down. I can not believe you are able to get Federal Student Loans for this school.

When I went to Javelin (paid for by the state unemployment agency b/c I had been out of work for over 6 months), our so-called teacher pronounced the name of Hippocrates five different ways in ONE paragraph. Somehow or other, this teacher also taught at Kennesaw State University--so I wouldn't trust that school to hire decent teachers either!

I am so glad I came across this page. I was planning to attend Javelin. Even went in just after Christmas to talk to them and find out about the school. At that point, I had not "decided" Javelin was where I wanted to go. I was checking into different schools. Even after explaining this to the Admin person I spoke to, I ended up in the financial aid office. They were trying their best to get me in there that moment. I put a halt to things when they were showing me how much I would have in loans to repay. I'm a single mother who at the time had just lost my unemployment benefits. They didn't care what my needs were. Or what my concerns were. They kept saying "you can defer the loans for years". I left there telling them I had to think about it. And I have prayed about it for the past three months and then I find this page! I thank God that I was lead away from there before it was too late. I am so sorry for all who have been dooped by them! Good luck to you all!

I disagree with most of you! I just graduated Javelin in January with a 4.0 gpa and I learned a lot and was challenged mentally and loved it! Some of the instructors were uncanny in their own way, but I didn't allow that to interfere with my progress. I was unemployed when attending Javelin and fortunate for me my matriculation there was free. I have no real complaints, but good luck to the rest of you!

Javelin Technical is a school that loves your money. Did you know that 50% of their students are high school dropouts, 25% are felons, and many of their students become instructors? Javelin's goal is to keep students enrolled for at least 21-days. After 21-days Javelin gets paid by the govern.; the student's debt is turned over to a high-interest finance company. So regardless if the student graduates, they still owe the $17, 000. If the student does get a CNA job the pay rate is $6.75-$14 an hour. I bet admissions never explained that.

Career Services is a joke. Only 1 in 30 get placed on a "real" CNA job. You see what Javelin does is count the student's employment (the job they had before starting Javelin, i.e., McD's, Kmart; Walmart) and record it as a Javelin placement to get credit. They say the student is using computer skills taught at Javelin on their job, even though the student is a cashier or inventory clerk.

Javelin Technical has VERY high instructor, student, and employee turnover. It's because management treats them like "replacable" slaves on a plantation. Every month new faces come and old faces are gone forever. Trust me; Javelin is a horrible place to get an education. Why? Because you graduate without an education. Imagine no education and still owe $17, 000?

Do you want to experience an unorganized, chaotic; "ghetto" school as an adult? Then enroll at Javelin Technical Training Center. You've been warned!

I agree with everyone above with their comments, and they are all so TRUE, TRUE TRUE, I went to this technical school, and I didnt learn a darn thing, all the students taught themselves, they had other students who graduated ahead of me, who were now instructors and didnt have a clue to any answers to any of my questions. Five years later I am still paying on a high school loan, and again for what? ? I would NOT recommend Javelin Tech to any one, please if you are thinking about going to this tech, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, think again, DON''T DO IT !. This school needs to be investgated.

I agree with all the comments that I have read Javelin Tech was a joke I am now stuck paying for a loan for a school that has done me no good. I graduated January 2010 with a 4.0 GPA and none of the credits earned could not be credited to another school. They truly need to be shut down.

You never know who will be in career services because of the high turn overs. LOL and I must do that to keep from crying at times but I remember a so call job fair that they had at the school there where a lot of tables set up for employers that never showed up but for the 3 that did it had nothing to do with the medical field what so ever there where 2 staffing agencies and 1 company looking for housekeepers. For the 10-17, 000 that I am repaying back it just wasn't worth my time and energy...but thanks to God I am now in an actual school getting a degree...

Whatever you do PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do your research before going to any school especially JAVELIN TECH or should I say MEDI-TECH or whatever they are called these days. I'm still working on getting the media involved something has to happen!

I agree with everyone here.. I am a current IT student at MedTech, I made a huge mistake coming here, but I am leaving to a real college, in about a week. I know some of you say you had lousy instructors but mine was excellent, but the structure and the cost of this "Business School', or what ever you want to call it, is terrible and ridiculously high. They make you wear uniforms and it is nothing like a traditional school.Students are always arriving late and there are usually no consequences. Also the resources and equipment are outdated . I am very angry that I still have to pay close to 15, 000 that could have been invested into a community college. I should have really done my research.

I am a recent graduate of this so called school, the instructors there and the equipment that you pay 17, 000 for is a total joke, you are given cheap uniforms, cheap stethoscopes. The instructors are unemployed students from another school, There is no one to express your displeasure too because the school is currently teaching out the current students, they have layoff the staff, leaving one instructor to teach all day, unable to teach externs to study for the so called certification UGH what a joke. I should have done my homework. There has to be a way to put an end too these schools that continue to rip people off. If I pay 17, 000 I should get a 17000 dollar education.

I agree with everyone who said this school sucks. I started this joke of an school in January 2010 and it was nothing but drama from the start. First off its way to much money for the crap they claimed was so good. Not to much complaining about the teachers, I had a couple of good teachers but that staff particularly that extern coordinator was awful. When I first got there I heard my computer teacher was messing around with a student and I felt like I was back in high school all over again. I did the medical office expert program which cost 17, 000 dollars. The financial aid official told me my financial aid may cover most maybe all but I'm stuck with a debt of 4000 something dollars to pay off. And its now preventing me from attending these universities I got accepted into because financial aid wants the transcript for this school and won't provide any assistance until I somehow magically pay off javelin tech and pay 8 dollars for it. Haven't had any luck finding a job as a med assistant because you have to have more than a year or 6 mos experience. And mind you I was a 4.0 student perfect attendance star student twice and that 90/90 club mess like 5 times student. My externship cordinator screwed me big time first sending me to some crappy externship interview with this rude unprofessional women after she looked me in the eyes and told me she was looking for me a great externship cause my clinical teacher gave her a very favorable review of me but probably only said that cause she almost forgot about me and I had to come to her after seeing all these other students with their interviews and sites in place. After that terrible first externship I called her immediately and told her about this rude heifer and she acted like it was my fault and said she will look again. Long story short I ended up in a personal care house with this two elderly guys and having to clean like a maid and wipe some 99 year old guy butt after I had to lift him off the toilet. I did hardly nothing pertaining to what I learned in this school and the only job I can probably get is working in homes and having to stay at these jobs over night for a week just to get paid some change. I was like nope. This was the Medtech in tucker, ga. I regret with all my heart now that I went here and put all this effort in for nothing. I was impatient and wanting a job doing something medical until I could finish my nursing but it was a stupid decision because now that I'm trying to finish up my nursing this school is holding me back from doing something better. I thought this would expand my knowledge once I started nursing school but now its just hindering me from going to one of the two schools I got accepted into. Please don't attend this school, go to a 2 year accredited state college or four year I believe they offer the same stuff these expense private programs offer and they are cheaper and hope grant may just pay it all at a place like dekalb tech or something. You have been warned. But if u think u may have a better experience... I doubt it though.

I attended Javelin for Medical Billing & Coding. I graduated with their Medical Office Expert certificate & Certified Insurance Billing & Coding certificate that isn't even recognized in REAL billing & coding jobs. I went to school everyday & graduated with a 4.0. All this was 3 years ago & I am still working at the same job I had before I enrolled. Some of my fellow employees attended as well, & none of them have been able to find jobs in the medical field either (none of us consulted with each other before attending). Most of the students were disruptive & rude. The teachers did very little to take control of their classes. It was hard to concentrate on the little materials we were provided. There were fees for books that we never received. Career services was a complete joke! I was sent on one externship site for a couple of weeks, then sent to another for a couple of weeks, which neither were hiring. Then he had the nerve to tell me I needed to change my hair in order to get a job interview. Really? But my hair was perfectly fine when I walked in the door & for you to take my money? I still owe this huge student loan. I really wish I would've taken the time to do my research before going to this school. All I wanted was a better life for my family, but now all I have is more debt & regret. If you are considering attending Javelin aka Medtech PLEASE reconsider!

This place is a complete and total scam.. The instructors helped the students cheat my giving study guides pertaining to the test to take home over the weekend to memorize so they could pass, and if they didn't receive a high enough grade they would have special credit alternatives to boost your grade. While I was attending school Med Tech had took over and would basically do the same thing as Javlin had did, study guides were still being distributed but the testing was a bit different. Instead of the questions and answers being identical they would reword questions and ask different questions pertaining to the subject you were given. So I would say at least 95% of my class went from A's to low C's to high D's. I graduated in 2011 I still have not found a job with my classification of a MOE.. Due to being unemployed and no money I fell behind in my student loan payments and they are currently with holding my certification from me so I can't prove I went to school at all. My student loans have almost doubled since then. I have to say I am completely sick of this situation because I quit my job that I've had for over "TEN" year making good a** money to full fill my dream of continuing my education in the medical field.. so much for being extraordinary..

My daughter went there and graduated. One of the major problems I noticed was that there are absolutely NO minimum requirements to be enrolled. She has Learning Disabilities and dropped out of school and was not even able to get her GED after several attempts. She went into Medical Billing...really? They don't care. Just sign the student loan papers. She didn't even know what she was signing and was coerced into signing. Now, she has a $20, 000 student loan! Isn't that great? Yes, legally she was an adult...in age only! BTW, she worked in that field for one week. She had no idea what she was doing. This place is a JOKE...but who is laughing?

Disability Discharge Student Loan Forgiveness
Total and Permanent Disability Discharge program (TPD) helps borrowers suffering from a disability by offering a complete discharge on their federal loans.

How much in loan forgiveness can I receive from Disability Discharge?
If accepted for the disability discharge, you would receive complete loan forgiveness. You will no longer owe any money in either principal or interest.

Best of all, the amount forgiven is not reported as income to the IRS as of 2018. This means you will not have to pay taxes on it and will not lose your eligibility for government programs like social security or Medicare.

Along with immediate discharge, you might also receive some of your money back. Lenders are required to return any money that you paid on your loan since the start of your disability.

Who is eligible for Disability Discharge?
To receive immediate disability discharge, qualifying borrowers must prove that they are totally and permanently disabled. You must have documentation from the Veterans Affairs Office, the Social Security Office, or your physician.

The burden of proof is high and relies heavily on that official documentation. In general, you have to have been disabled for at least 60 months or expect to be disabled for at least 60 months to qualify. Those with disabilities expected to result in death are also eligible.

Your loans must be eligible too. TPD discharge relieves you from repaying loans made under the:

William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program
Federal Family Education Loan Program
Federal Perkins Loan Program
TPD discharge also relieves borrowers from their TEACH Grant service obligation.
